Amazing food. The platter for two was a perfect option for those indecisive. Our server was fantastic and the chef even came out to ask how we’re doing. Highly recommend.

The lamb I had was massive and very tasty. The wine they recommended was very good value and really nice to drink. If I can't find it in my neighbourhood then I will pick up some more from here the next time I am in Nanaimo. I also dropped a fork and the server was in the other room, heard it and quickly came over and replaced it before I could even say anything to anyone. Then the chef toured all the tables to check out how we are doing and even give us a free tasting of the cheesecake. Well recommended. I can't wait to go back

We moved back into town after a four year absence. The food tastes just as amazing as we remember, and the chef clearly pours his heart and soul into what he does. He just so happened to come into the dining room while we were having our meal and I had to compliment his work. The tzatziki and pita appy is our favorite, which we always follow up with a butter chicken. A beautiful fusion of flavors and worth the visit every single time!

This place is definitely one of my favorite go to places in Nanaimo. The service is impeccable, food is always fresh and delicious and the chef comes out to greet the guests and ask how your dining experience is going. I thought this was such a thoughtful gesture and a touch of class. They serve Greek and Indian food, we opted for the Greek. I had the prawn souvlaki and my partner had the chicken souvlaki. Each came with Greek salad, lemon potato, rice, pita bread and tzatziki sauce and was very plentiful. You will definitely leave there full and satisfied! I highly recommend this place for your next dining pleasure. Definitely worth the 5 stars!

Food is delicious, fresh and hot. Best calamari so far and they even gave us complimentary treats. The staffs are friendly and sufficient. Highly recommended

Easily the best Greek experience in town. We brought home takeout of the dinner for two with calamari and baked spaghetti & my comment was “I wonder if this tastes as good as it smells!” It did. Perfect calamari - cooked through, but not overly done. The roast potatoes were probably the food highlight. The whole customer experience was fantastic. When picking up, the cook (perhaps the owner?) greeted me by name while I waited. The quality of food and feeling of community brought together an amazing experience and we can’t wait to go back.

Never a bad meal have I had at Alexandra’s Bistro! Bobby and his Staff do an excellent job. We ordered the Special Greek Platter for 2 for our 25th Anniversary for take out, nice romantic evening with great food. Highly recommended! Anyone asks me where to go? I tell them the Alexandra’s Bistro. Thanks again Bobby!

I have always had amazing food experiences when I have gone in person. Unfortunately, I can't recommend eating here for take out/pick up. I had ordered a single dish along with an appetizer for takeout, The total came out to about 70$, which would have been fine if the food wasn't so overcooked that I stopped eating after a few bites. So the 2 stars are in reference to how they treat take out orders with seemingly a lot less care, and considering the price is the same as if I were to dine in I expect the same quality of food.

We have been meaning to try Alexandra's for the better part of forever. Today we took a chance and went in for lunch. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Everything was dripping (quite literally) in oil, and coated in some kind of lemon juice concentrate. We ordered a brushetta to start which came out as 3 quite thick slices of garlic toast piled high with brushetta. The bread was toasted well but was absolutely soaked in garlic butter. The brushetta itself had good acidity but was more oil than tomato and was overly spicy from way too much raw garlic. We were very hungry and managed to make it through 2 but just couldn't stomach the last of it. We ordered the souvlaki and spanakopita. Both came with Uncle Ben's Bistro express microwavable rice. If you've ever had it you'd know it's a very specific texture and taste that is unmistakable and not fresh rice. They did however add some heated carrots that were at least done okay if not lacking of seasoning. Both dishes also came with a half of baked potato without skin which was pretty obviously just reheated. The outside was mushy and the inside still very firm. The potato was drenched in lemon juice and rendered inedible. The chicken seemed frozen but was tender although very lacking in seasoning. We each opted for the Greek salad option which we did not finish. The tomatoes had bits of mold and the dish was swimming in cheap tasting oil that I'm not entirely certain was actual olive oil.<br/><br/>Now for the good. Service was good but we were also the lone guests. She was very friendly, polite and brought our requests (extra napkins, drink refills or extra drip etc) in a timely manner. Atmosphere was alright, obviously dated but welcoming and looked clean. Overall it was comfortable. Coffee was good and soda was canned (still bottomless) so very crisp and enjoyable.<br/><br/>Overall we won't be back. We left feeling very sick and not just because lunch for 2 was over $50. Too much raw garlic, too much lemon and absolutely drowning in oil. I hope someone close to them is honest enough for them to make some changes. From what I hear they were the place to be years ago. Unfortunately, it was not our experience.<br/><br/>Food quality- 0/5<br/>Service- 5/5<br/>Atmostphere- 3/5<br/>Value- 1/5

A group of us recently had dinner at Alexandras Bistro and all were extremely disappointed.  We all had eaten there before and were satisfied however this time it was poor.  I ordered Moussaka as did one other and it was not Moussaka.  It was a large spoon full of rice with a large spoon full of ground meat mixed with tomatoe sauce and topped with mashed potatoes.  Normally mousaka has many spices, egg plant and cheese.  Poor.  Others had Veal and again it was poor and one one person had a prawn dish which was actually shrimp and again tasteless.

Quick servers. Daily specials. Great food served hot and promptly. Very reasonable pricing. Large portion. Enjoyed a very nice night out. Will come back when we are in town again

Had a fantastic lunch at Alexandra's yesterday. The service was nice and fairly friendly. I had a monte cristo which was delicious and had tons of whipped cream!<br/>I ordered the share for 2 platter. It came with lamb and chicken souvlaki, pita and tzatziki, Calamari and hummus, Greek salad, rice and potato. Everything was cooked just right! The lamb especially was amazing! The seasoning just right. <br/>This was easily enough for 3 people so there was a lot left unfortunately.<br/>The calamari was so crisp and fresh and the batter was light.<br/>I would highly recommend this place for a nice Greek meal.<br/>Can't wait to try some more dishes!

Fabulous staff! The prices are great, and the food we had was wonderful. My husband and I went for lunch; we both had the Moussaka. It came with rice, a side salad (we picked Greek), tzakziki sauce and naan bread. It was one of the best Moussakas I have ever tasted, the naam was grilled and fresh, and the tzakziki spot on. Can hardly wait to try seafood Thursday!!!!

Great value. Good food and great value, friendly staff, easy parking. Definitely up for another visit!

Okay, not great. I do like this place, the servers really care and are genuine and the portions are large. Sometimes the food is fresh, but sometimes it's not. Mushy lamb is not appetizing, you guys. Some items are a bit oily. Kind of hit or miss really. Wish I could be more positive because the staff are great.

Best Place in Town. My husband and I love going here, we've been going to this restaurant for over five years! The atmosphere is really nice and the food is really really good. I have tried almost all the dishes from there and they were all amazing. The Osso Bucco is to die for, and the saganaki (sp?) ugh.. my mouth waters just thinking about it lol. I highly suggest this place to anyone who is looking for extremely tasty food. I have always had a wonderful experience at this place :)

Went there last night because someone recommended it. We will never go back. If it's Indian food you're looking for it's probably ok. If it's Greek food forget it. The keftiko Lamb was a ball of fat covered in a Brown sauce with carrots. The veal alexandras looked like a pile of crap and it was tough.We won't be going back there

The Chicken Marsala is Fantastic. I took my friend, whom I'll call Jane, out for a lunch with me today and we decided to check out Alexandra's Bistro in Nanaimo. I had been there once before and remember how good the food was. Today I was not disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and totally savoured EVERY BITE. For less than $10 I was extremely impressed.

We visited on the recommendation of a local and we weren't disappointed. Our food was fresh, excellently cooked and tasted great.

Had the Greek Platter tonite. Complained that the Spanikopita was doughy . Cook came out & said he would make another but would just cook it more ( I should have said just don't burn it) So it came " very well done " & still doughy. Ignored us after he brought it, didn't want to hear any more criticism I guess. When he finally removed our dirty plates , he noticed the pile of dough left on the plate & assured me that his other customers loved his dish . Come on , obviously I didn't , he could / should have said " I'm sorry it didnt meet your expectations " Then when we paid ( far too much) he could have offered even a $5 coupon to return , cuz guess what.. we won't be returning . Lost out on some $30 meals , Will go to Milano's,Asteria ,Zougla instead..You'd think with the HST & less customers they would like to keep the ones that do come in.

For appies, the pita and humous was amazing! A light and gentle crisp pita and a depth of flavors in the humous making this my favorite part of my meal. as far as main course the souvlaki was great!i ( I found chicken the best, salmon had an over powering taste of lemon and pickled capers). I don't recommend the Alfredo linguini (a somewhat mono-flavor, and has nothing that will keep you interested in the dish)<br/><br/><br/>-----11 Sep, 2010-----<br/><br/>For appies the pita and humous was amazing!
