My favourite sushi in the city. Fresh and flavourful. The chicken Karaage (spicy) is amazing. Polite and quick staff. Definitely will be continuing to get my business.
Very fast and efficient service. Good quantities for the price. I have only tried miso soup, prawn tempura, some rolls, and sashimi but all were excellent! My only wish is that there were descriptions of rolls on the menu as it leaves you guessing... which can be fun but I like to know what I am ordering.
Just got to the island and this place was highly rated. We were hesitant to the prices at first but $30 including tip fed 2 people to the brim. The portions were ample, the 8pc single order of sashimi was amazingly large, and all of it delicious. A must try for sushi and sashimi lovers.
Always the best. I have been going here weekly for years. Early on, they had a particularly grumpy server, but since then, they have had nothing but wonderful servers and staff. They greet you with a warm hello and thank you for your business. They are accommodating with questions and requests. The sushi varieties are plentiful and the prices are terrific. Sushi is fresh and I haven't had any bad experiences with them. Give them a try!

It doesn't matter if you grab a pre-made roll or get them to make it to order, everything is super fresh and you are out within 2-5 minutes.
Also, their customer service is outstanding and I always get a smile and hello as soon as I walk in.

The food and service were excellent. We ate in. When we got to the till with our selection from the sushi display they handed us a fresh made fully garnished plate with the type of roll we'd just picked out. We asked for yam tempura and the small size had seven pieces!
Good service, great prices, average sushi. The food isn't bad by any standard just very basic. But it does satisfy the sushi craving at a great price.

It's ok. Not horrible, but not great. They should add gyoza to the menu as well. And bubble tea! The yam rolls are a little soggy but the kappa makis are great!
Prices are good and the quality is okay.. No sockeye salmon, which is too bad.
Likes It. I often come by here to grab some yam and tempura rolls, or California rolls. They're always friendly in there, and the food is always good. I have found on the odd occassion that flecks of crab have gotten into my rice when I did not order crab, so that is one thing I would like to see an improvement on.
Tomo isn't a sushi take-out place... it's a way of life!. I LOVE this place! For the longest time, I refused to buy sushi anywhere else in Nanaimo. Recently, I tried it at some other places (Sake House @ Port Place, that other place behind Country Club, Acme, Thrifty's, etc) and none of them measured up to Tomo Sushi. They blend affordibility with DELICIOUS sushi which really does revitlalize the body, mind, and soul (like the Chef Sammy claims!).

I'm still getting used to sushi (I'm a new addict :D) so I like to stick to the good ol' California roll, spicy California roll, spicy baby prawn roll (so good!!), and whenever my family gets the platter, the Dynamite roll. And of course, I love the miso soup.
Lots of options, super affordable, and delicious! The only place I will buy from in Nanaimo - EVER! :)
Good quality, nice serving sizes, fresh fish. We've been getting take out from Tomo for many years and have never been disappointed.
Minus 1 star because their prices have really gone up. I understand that prices are going up everywhere but their take out prices are higher than a sit down meal at Ryu.
I just had the best dish I've had from a Japanese restaurant, the chicken don. It's cold and full of flavor. Everything is seasoned so well and the pickled vegetables are amazing.
Great casual sushi stop. Not the most high-end place but good quality, fresh and really good value :)
Great take out selection and you can also order A La Carte! The best sushi we had on Vancouver Island. We went twice in one day!
My favourite sushi in the city so far. Good food for a good price, friendly staff, and a really good amount of fish in each roll.
Its great place to dine, Miso Soup was hot and Tomo Tomo Roll was tasty and delicious

They lost a star for a) upping prices noticeably in the last month or so, b) not having a website or c) updating their menu online (as I am now doing for them lol).
Fresh made sushi. The dancing California roll is my favourite. Sweet and polite and professional. Very popular, so it is one of the best around.
