I came here for mother's day dinner and it was fantastic. All three of our meals were delicious. The wait was a little long but it was mothers day so I get it. I had the pulled pork sandwich and fries and they were so good. We also got the brownies with bacon ice cream and the ice cream pie. Both were amazing. The server was super sweet. Definitely worth the money for a special occasion, would recommend making a reservation

Went to Firehouse Grill for lunch. The place was not busy however I could see a lot of take out orders moving out of the kitchen. The place used to be a firehouse, hence the name. So inside is all brick walls and a very high ceiling.
The staff are very friendly and attentive.
The food was very basic. I must say, the server said they are famous for their sushi but I wanted something warm. I had the fish and chips and the salt N' Pepper ribs. I asked for extra crispy fish but it was not, in fact there batter was still runny in some bites. The ribs were tasty but very salty. Both dishes had very tasty sauces.

I'm so glad we made a reservation here. We tried to walk in the night before but they were full due to reduced seating capacity.
Our server was courteous and pretty quick for dealing with many tables. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious.
We found the portions perfect. Enough you could have a three course meal (shared appie and dessert) and feel comfortably full but not over stuffed.

We waited 45 mins for a table, but the exceptional service and amazing food made up for the wait and then some.
The Firehouse Grill is widely regarded as the best restaurant in all of Nanaimo. And it's a title very well-deserved.

Fire House is a must visit. Unique Japanese and Western infused menu, super cozy dining, and friendly wait staff. Contemporary restaurant in a building full of history. I enjoyed the black and blue tatake tuna and crab stuffed avocado. Yum!

Had a great meal and excellent friendly service from or server, Mae. We had the Miyagi prawns for an appy and finished up with a Godfather and Fighting Buddha sushi platter. Presentation was exotic and flavors to match. Delicious.
I'm not usually a big sushi fan, but this place made me a believer. Funky old building with lots of character and charm. Recommend.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place, just googled “restaurants” when we got off the ferry and this place came up and looked interesting. They had a lot of veggie options for my vegan girlfriend, even the tempura batter was vegan which is never the case. The Sushi is different than any sushi I have ever had, in a good way. They are trying things that I have never seen at any other sushi restaurant.
We also arrived near closing and the staff were kind enough to still seat us and just requested we order quickly so they could start closing the kitchen. We really appreciated them accommodating us!
