Review Tommy - Montreal

If you’re going to visit any Tommy Café locations, make sure it’s this one. So cute and charming! On our 3 day trip, we were there everyday day. I ordered the Lucky Charms Latte which was both cute and delicious! And the vibe and aesthetic of the little cafe is too much to handle. Loved it!!!

Very cute little place! Super cozy. The food is also very good! Looks, smells and tastes yummy. It is on the pricey side though. You get a *small* cup of hot coco for $5. PRO TIP: It is SUPER crowded on weekends and pretty loud. So, if you’re looking to get work done - you may end up with a headache instead. Also, the earlier you can go the better because you may not find a seat. Wifi available. Plugs available, but next to few seats. PS: The photos are of salmon toast and breakfast croissant. Portions are okay. I didn’t feel full after nor was I still hungry. However, I eat less than an average human so you may still be hungry after 😆 Overall, worth a try!!

Such a fun cafe! Salmon bagel and latte were awesome…beautiful plating!! Staff so warm and smiling and kind…the space is the stunner with a multilevel, California cafe vibe…it’s not just two levels, but single table seating every step up as you go, really cool old bank vibe full of quirks. Beautiful and yummy; you must go!!

Such a great vibe from the moment you walk in. There are two floors (loft style) with plenty of seating for couples, groups, or solo goers. The ambience was good for working in or having a chat with a friend. Super friendly staff too. The food was delicious and perfect for brunch (portion wise and flavour pallet).

The best meal I had in Montreal by far! I had a large mocha and salmon bagel. Everything was delicious. My sister had the waffle and my brother in law the salmon avocado toast, which were both also very tasty.

Old beaux-arts style two-storey open-space café. Order before seating yourself concept but you must collect your drinks first. Different types of tables, some small and some coffee tables which I don't think is ideal for a plate. Queue is a bit long. Portions seem small but the food is actually quite filling, fresh and delicious. You should view the menu online to get a better description of the menu ingredients, as the in store menu displays nicknames for the dishes. Oat milk available. Private bathrooms on second level. Not wheelchair accessible.

A cafe I’ve been impatiently waiting to visit! Such a great, aesthetic, therapeutic cafe! The baristas are so friendly too. The croissant and the coffee I got was also delicious. I would love to visit again next time I’m in Montreal!

Visited this cute cafe on our short visit to Montreal. The food was good and seemed like the place is very popular. So it became very crowded to the point people had their orders in hand but no place to sit.

Loveliest coffee shop I've ever seen! Super friendly staff, cute decorations and very welcoming place. Definitely my favorite Café to have a delicious treat and some good coffee in Montreal! Thanks again for the cutest souvenir to bring back to Germany

Nice decor, but extremely rude staff and ridiculously pricy menu (not worth the expense at all). Way overrated. Wouldn’t even return for the ‘gram.

Stopped in Cafe Tommy on our last morning in Montreal almost solely on the basis of the beautiful interior cafe photos posted on Yelp. So glad we did! The barista downstairs was very kind and helpful as we ordered. I had a mocha latte, cronut, and a quiche. All was delightful, but the quiche deserves a special shout out (spinach and goat cheese--such a delicious combination!). The ambiance was just what we were hoping to find, and when we finished, it was just steps to walk next door to Mass at the Basilica of Notre Dame Montreal. This place will definitely be on my recommend list to others heading to Montreal!

Wonderful cronuts... but their coffee situation is a mess. Ordering in? They serve your steaming hot coffee in a GLASS that conducts all the heat. Ordering to go? The lids don't fit, the coffee spills everywhere with each step you take. Almost ruined a nice pair of pants because of this place... Also there were grounds in my coffee. My wife's quiche was tough and had grill marks in it. Good ambience and music though. I would come back ONLY for baked goods.

it is not worth to pay so much on those food and drink, they should try do better on food than just the atmosphere.

We stayed in an Airbnb in the neighborhood & went here at least once a day. Great coffee, comfy vibe and NOT STARBUCKS. Staff was friendly without being obsequious. Cheese croissant was large, light & delicious. Although I didn't partake, they have an all you can drink mimosa for $25 (Canadian dollars, eh!).

Located at Rue Notre Dame Ouest, this is a very good cafe. Mochachino and Chai Latte with soy milk were excellent. Grilled Cheese Sandwich had yummy melted cheese. Spicy Tuna open faced bagel with veggies was very filling and tasty.

Cute little spot in old town Montréal. It was a great escape from
The freezing cold! A simple menu with a small selection of basics. The bagel was delicious as was the doughnut. Didn’t get a picture of the avo on toast, which was equally delicious. Great service and atmosphere too

Great place to have breakfast at.

Tommy is always busy and one needs to spare 45 minutes from ordering till you're done with your meal.

We had the avocado on toast with sunny side egg on top along with a chocolatine and the fresh peach drink.

Avo on toast was delicious but the food was a bit cold till it reached us.

The chocolatine was fresh and tasted like it had been baked the same day or the night before. quite fresh.

The peach drink was very refreshing and I think it also had ginger in it.

All in all good experience and the location is quite convenient as you cannot miss it at all.

Average spending per person - 17 to 25 $

The place is VERY pretty, the décor/music/ambiance is amazing and it's a nice place for coffee. I wouldn't really recommend studying there as it's always crowded, and the hours aren't very convenient. The coffee is also somewhat overrated, their prices are over the roof. Still, must see when it comes to coffee shops in Montréal!

Nice place, good coffee. I recommend for the atmosphere, the good service, the nice croissant, MONTREAL. You will find a good service. I like it.

Montreal Foo Foodie
In a short amount of time Tommy Café in Old Montreal has gotten a real cult following. It has become so popular that another Tommy Café, serving brunch opened in March in a bigger second locale situated at 151 Notre Dame street/Royale. A day does not go by where someone will not recommend Tommy Café to me. Montreal has no shortage of really good coffee shops. Do we really need more? I guess it depends where in the city. In Old Montreal, where there is never a shortage of tourists, cafes prove to be a quick and inexpensive way to take a short break in between hops. For the proverbial Montrealer we look for something more. A beautiful café offers a respite between shopping expeditions, a quiet afternoon chatting with a friend or a place outside of the home or workplace where we can pop open our tablets or laptops and do some work. The real question is what makes a café so popular and others not. Good coffee, good grub and comfort are definitely some of the reasons.
Crackerjacker
This place was recommended to me by a friend of a friend and now I can see why, the place is very picturesque and a real hub for students. Their coffees and sweet tasted great. However I did come here with my parents and they did feel a bit out of place, as their target is more younger people. The place does get quite busy and people do sit their with their laptops so is difficult to find a seat at popular times.
Cappuccino Artist
Tommy is a wonderful café to visit at the Old Port. The Matcha Tea could have been better but the cappuccino was one of the best I’ve ever tried in Montreal. The only problem I had with Tommy is that it’s always crowded and rarely find place to actually sit and enjoy your coffee with the ambiance. All in all, I would still come back for their cappuccino.

We wanted a good place for a mocha and a London fog and Crew was closed for a private event so we decided to try out Tommy. I liked the building and the setup but it was crammed full of people on laptops, however, we managed to get a seat against a wall. Worst London fog I have ever had. It came in a drinking glass lukewarm, the rose petals sprinkled on top overpowered the straight up milk flavour (no tea flavour to mention), the tea bag was MASSIVE and wasn't steeped nearly long enough to add the tea flavour. They spent so long sprinkling a bunch of random little chocolate balls on the top of my partner's mocha that by the time he drank it it also was lukewarm. The pastries were decent but I'm sure they buy them somewhere else. Definitely will never go back.
Hangry In YYC
This coffee shop was a convenient walk from our hotel in Montreal. When you walk in, you are greeted by lush green plants hanging from their tall ceilings and the architectural details everywhere. The set up is a loft style, so if you can't find seating on the main floor, the mid level, you can go to the top where there are a few more tables and couches - very comfortable space to hang out.

I ordered a black coffee and an almond croissant. The coffee was basic but the almond croissant - it was so good that I didn't even offer a bite to any of my friends that were there with me. That's right, i purposely didn't share my almond croissant and I even considered going back for a second one - that's how delicious it was.

Instead, I ordered a cookie and unfortunately it was disappointing. It was big and fluffy, but neither hard nor chewy.

Just stick with getting the croissant.

A few minutes walk from Notre-Dame. Nice and quite unique decor (loft and layers). Coffee was not that great but not bad. Never tried their food though but saw many people ordered smoked salmon bagel.

Though Tommy Cafe has a killer vibe, being in a historic building and all, the actual coffee and food can use some improvement. Tommy Cafe is a nice cafe to stop by to get some work done, to grab a bite to eat, or for catching up with a friend. It’s definitely a great place to stop by if you’re touring Old Montreal, but it isn’t the best place to come for the ‘best’ coffee in the city, so if you’re a coffee drinker that takes coffee pretty seriously, this place will probably wouldn’t please you the most in that department. I’d still come to get my daily fix of caffeine and take a nice Instagram picture though.

Great space, love the decor! From the plants to the gitchy statues. The latte was very tasty, I didn't get a chance to sample the food though. A good mix of different clientele, from university students to couples on date night. The staff was very friendly and efficient.

This place has a gorgeous interior and friendly staff. Coffee was great, as was the music. Big windows and a great space to enjoy the Vieux Montreal vibe at any time of the day.

Café Tommy offers a fairly wide range of drinks (coffe, juice...) and snacks (even yogurt parfaits and salads). It's a fun, trendy place to come to study or simply to stop by. The best part of this coffe shop for me was the decor: I truly fell in love!
Sumtimw0ng
gorgeous decor and that's pretty much it.
while they make their own blend, the beans are from Union which is used by most italian cafés out there (for example caffè italia) therefore, their coffee IS expensive and highway robbery.

as for pastries and the likes, it is sourced from many bakery out there (like la Cornetteria amongst others) so personally, I wouldn't go all the way down to Tommy when I have those bakeries closer to home.

anyway, decor is gorgeous and that's the only reason to go. coffee is no good and shouldn't be pricier than indies nor italian. it should be $3 no more

Probably the best cafe in Old Montreal. Differs from other places in the area,in that it's not a tourist trap, and there's a very warm vibe with friendly service. I can see why/how people become regulars at this place! Wonderful deco, great service and super tasty coffee and treats!

One of the swankiest cafes/spaces in town. Be it that I don't really drink coffee nor do I care much for cafes, the real draw for me here is the nutella cronetto straight from La Cornetteria.

Unless you have been living under a rock (or don't have Instagram), you have likely seen stunning photos of Café Tommy. Tommy is a unique café occupying two floors of a historical building in the Old Port. A couple of weeks ago Tommy launched their brunch menu consisting of assorted viennoiseries, breakfast sandwiches, parfaits, mimosas, and of course great coffee. Tommy is also a hot spot for apéro at Happy Hour. Definitely trek out to this Old Port location, snap a pic, and prepare for the likes to roll in ;).

Coffee shops have always been popular in Montreal, but recently, there has been an influx of trendy independent cafés that do more than simply satisfy your morning caffeine fix. Coffee shops are places to meet, work and lounge, all while sipping coffee, eating a light lunch or indulging in a flaky pastry. They always offer free wifi and they are usually hospitable and comfortable. Most independent cafés in Montreal are located in Little Italy and the Plateau but Tommy Café is in the heart of Old Montreal.

So lovely! With high ceilings and bright decor, this place offers up some serious new charm in the Old Port. Our espresso/iced latte/mocha all went down well, and though we did not have anything to eat, my twin (another Tommy) attests that snacks are on par with the drinks & decor. A great place for a coffee break.

Awesome location, staff and coffee! This place is a must try or at least a must for Instagram if you are in the area! Old port finally has a go to coffee spot!
