I went here with a friend who had been many years ago, and said it was one of his favorite restaurants in Montreal. I can see why. Very cozy and quaint, with spectacular service and some of the best food I’ve experienced in Montreal. They do not have an extensive cocktail list, but their food and wine options are diverse and amazing. The proprietor, who I think served us that evening, was lovely and kind and patient, despite the fact that our French isn’t very good. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends visiting the city.

I was slightly taken aback by the long wait before being served our food, but I'm told this is typically French. It wasn't unpleasant, and allowed us ample time to talk. I think I would've enjoyed it more had I been expecting it.
The service was great, and the waiters were polite and attentive without hovering.
The food selection was elegant, and everyone of our party was impressed, be it with the duck, rabbit, salmon or the mushroom risotto. The portions were perfectly sized, and the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant were charming.
A very refreshing experience, highly recommended!

Excellent dinner and service. French food very well executed from the starters to the desserts. I had a Paris-Brest amazing! And a duck confit. Will be back for sure!

I had the foie gras, oysters then the beef ( rare) and finally the paris brest
The foie gras is locally made and was the best I ate in montreal
The beef was cooked perfectly and tasted like my home.country.
The paris brest was the best I've eaten since I'm in Québec... the cream was delicious
I tested a lot of restaurants and a lot of beef pieces . This restaurant combines quantity quality perfectly

Family Dinner
Visiting our daughter on Montreal ....had an absolutely amazing meal...everything from the wine to soup to salad to the main plate and then dessert was so very well prepared and presented. Staff was thoroughly attentive yet we were able to share a nearly three-hour leisurely meal. Highly recommend Au Petit Extra....cannot wait to eat there again :)

A very disappointing anniversary dinner. Service and food quality has gone downhill. Big time. The "cod" was so dry and tough, so was my duck breast. Our jaws were tired after half way of the meal. Our server was kind of cold and inattentive. Had to wait 15 mins to order, and he never refill the wine or water for us.
We took the issue of the fish to the server and he just said nothing, and turned to ask the hostess to talk to us instead. Hostess did try to make it up with a free dessert (not for both of us though) but the overall experience remained bad.
