Review Escondite - Montreal

My wife and I loved this restaurant! We were overwhelmed with all of the options and got lucky pulling this one off of a long list. The drinks were really well done, the food was excellent, and the servers and staff even better. If you're reading this to see where you should get food in Montreal, consider this your last review. Stop looking, call and make a reservation.

We tried this busy and beautiful spot in Montreal for dinner. We had great time here, food was so good. All dishes were worth the price. I would definitely visit this place again to try different items on their menu.

All those tacos we ordered were so good! Every ingredient in each taco was super fresh and professionally prepared. The quality and taste of the tacos were on point. I would definitely go back to have other items on the menu!

This place is a little gem. Upscale casual atmosphere when you walk in, nicely decorated with lots of features to look at. The menu is a tapas style tasting menu. Ideal for a group or couple to share multiple items slowly. If you are a little more hungry get a few items and enjoy it slowly, but if you get a few items it can a little pricy. Although the service is prompt once the next item is ordered. Food presentation is great lots of colour and flavour. Al Pastor was great with fresh mango and pork. Mango Salad was tasty also. Everything I had I really enjoyed! Margarita’s were good also! Sat at the bar alone and had a friendly conversation with Alejandro who treated me as a special guest. I will be back many times.

Food was excellent. We tried 3 different tacos, and they were all delicious. The service was supper helpfully and we will definitely be returning.

Went for a light dinner/snack. Ordered 4 tacos for 2 people. They were really good, good flavor and fresh ingredients. Only complaint is that they were very tiny..smallest tacos I’ve had anywhere. Tried a couple of different cocktails and they were delicious!

I ordered for take out as I live across the street and I saw extremely positive reviews. I lived in Mexico for 6 years and I am a million percent confident the owners and the chefs are not Mexican and never have they ever ate a good taco. I ordered 1 of each taco, and each one of them was more disappointing than the last. I am shocked of all these positive reviews, 1) they are fake or 2) these people have very below average taste buds and palate. The porc and chicken tacos were frozen and not even re heated properly. The fish smelled too fishy a classic sign of old frozen fish!!! The cabbage, lettuce, jalapeños were extremely subpar quality, very very old. The ingredients in each taco did not complement each other - it was absolutely distasteful. The only item that seemed relatively fresh was the corn tortilla but even so...they were rubbery for more than half the tacos. I am so shocked and so disappointed that I wasted 98$ in this place. I also tipped the waiter 15% for my takeout, which was not an issue since she was very nice. The owners should be disgusted and embarrassed by their own behaviour as they are ruining the industry and have the audacity to call themselves a traditional Mexican restaurant!!! I invite everyone who reads this review to go ahead and order 1 taco and witness for yourself how disgusting this food is!!! Even 1 taco would be too much profit for a disgusting place like this who have no respect for their customers. To the owner and the chefs please get a grip of reality, just because u can scam customers does not give you the right to do so!!!!! To the owner the least u could do is quality check ur food and buy fresh ingredients!!!!! U should be ashamed of yourself for wasting our money and time. Disgusting.

The food is delicious and has a good ambience/vibe. Wish they had more variety of cocktails but other than that, everything is so good! Don’t be shy to ask for the “experience”!

Il est 11 h du soir , On éteint la musique et intensifie la lumière pour pousser un groupe de 15 personnes à sortir. Pas de dessert d’offert la cuisine etait , je cite“ long time closed”. C’est un peu dommage de se faire pousser dehors sans avoir eu ne serais ce qu’un call pour nous dire “ la cuisine ferme dans 10 est ce que on prendra des desserts?” Et avant meme de nous avoir offert de nous apporter les additions. Bref nous sommes partis après avoir a peine finis nos bouteilles de vin. C’est un peu dommage quand le debut du services et la qualité des plats était si bonne. Nous n’y retournerons pas.

Wow wow wow just amazing . Food was great , service was excellent and Ambiance wow � ��� we are all Planning our Next supper we were a groupe of 8 amd Everybody left with a full stomach and happy happy happy . We suggest the tasting menu miam miam miam

Very very very loud: can’t even talk So had fish tacos:fine (on flour tortillas �) Tofu tacos: fine Corn esquite: very dry corn Beet Ceviche: very small and fine Food is very regular nothing spectacular But the worst part is $45 pitcher that didn’t even serve 4 tiny glasses and full of ice (can’t insert picture unfortunately) Came to the city for this: what a waste of time Oh and a very rude waitress ....

Very good service and food. I highly recommend Sarah as a waitress, she made our night unforgettable. El Chanchon is a very good drink!

S’il y avait zéro étoile j’aurais pu le mettre. Je suis passé réserver en personne 3 semaines en avance pour massurer d’avoir une place pour un groupe de 6. L’hôtesse (lunettes, chandail bleu) a pris la réservation en note (le 31 mars exactement vers 18:00). J’ai appelé 3 jours avant la date pour confirmer. Rendu sur place ma réservation avait disparu, ils ont mis en doute le fait que j’avais réservé, comme si je n’avais aucune crédibilité . qu’ils ne pouvaient rien faire. Aucun professionnalisme, ils nous ont laissé en plan dans l’entrée avec aucune excuse, . Vraiment un service horrible pour quelqu’un qui prend la peine de réserver d’avance. Vous avez perdu une dizaine de clients et plus, avec le bouche à oreille.

Magnifique décor, prix très correct, service un peu long mais notre serveuse Marie Michele était d'une gentillesse incroyable et aux petits soins ! Encore merci à elle !! Pour ce qui est des plats : les tacos sont bons mais la quantité n'est pas très généreuse. Je recommande tout de même �

Quand le barman prend le temps de te montrer comment déguster un verre de mescal, quand le staff te sert ta commande de tacos en double et te donne la 2e assiette gratuitement même quand tu veux la payer, quand tout le staff est efficace, souriant et courtois tu sais que tu es au bon endroit. Tout ce qu'on a mangé et bu était délicieux. Service parfait, ambiance conviviale qui pourrait facilement devenir festive. L'essayer c'est l'adopter!!! ���

Tasting menu excellent... but way too much food. El chapo was a bit too saucy for my palate. Service fast. Sangria great.

J'ai tout aimé ! Le délicieux Mojito et l'incroyable Nacho. Le service est impeccable et l'ambiance générale est chaleureuse et invitante. Très hâte d'y retourner.

Their tacos are the best you will ever have. Everything we ordered was incredible. Korean steak tacos a must.

Our son suggested we go there for s family dinner. Great decor and fun, young vibe. Delicious appetizers and tacos. Great margarita too. A pleasant experience! The place was packed on a week night but they take reservations and our table was ready when we arrived.

Superbe expérience, nourriture fantastique, excellent service. Le forfait dégustation est parfait pour goûter à tout. À refaire lors d’une prochaine visite à Montréal.
