Review California Sandwiches - Mississauga

I got their Eggplant Sandwich with cheese. It's a huge Sandwich and it was really really juicy upto a point that it was impossible to eat with hands. Taste was great but I found it a bit pricey. I am sure they have lots of other varieties and will definitely try them at other times.

I don't think you should be in Food business. We ordered one veal sandwich and one chicken sandwich with cheese and onions but we got two oily tomato sauce sandwiches. There is no taste of anything else but a cheap tomato sauce. We couldn't finish half of each. In addition no one checked our vaccine proof although we told them we r dining in.

Placed an order for pick up at lunch. Went in for pick up and waited 16 min in line to get my order. What is the point of calling in the order if they want to make you line to get your order with people who are just placing their order? On top of that when I got to the front line, cashier started bagging orders and calling out numbers for people waiting for their food. Not a place to go to when you only get a 30 min lunch break. Food was cold and sauce was minimal on the 7 sandwiches we had ordered.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I used to come here all the time for a chicken or veal sandwich but the quality and customer service has gone down the drain. The lady working at the front is the most unprofessional and rude person I’ve ever come across working in the food industry! I even heard her making all kinds of negative comments about me loudly with the staff lol…Especially when I was spending my money there weekly! Sandwich is super soggy and not worth what you pay. Save your money people! There are many authentic Italian sandwich spots that taste way better and treat you with respect.

First they got the order wrong when it was finally correct and came out it was dry. Veal was chewy and had no sauce or taste. We ordered 3 veal sandwiches and all were the same. They even gave us black coffee when we ordered cappuccino don’t waste ur time or money at this location

It I really not that hard to do this job. I asked for a bit extra sauce when I ordered. No problem the cashier said. Waited to get my sandwich, I asked, "I just want to make sure I got a bit extra sauce". "Yes, I told her to", the cashier said. I go home...THERE IS HARDLY ANY SAUCE!!! is it that hard now days for anyone anywhere to provide some decent service??

Empty restaurant, but the tables still had crumbs and the floor was very sticky. Chicken sandwich was ok, not exceptional - Queensway has yet to be beat!

Great tasting veal sandwich as usual. This location is clean and not busy, the cashier was pleasant to deal with. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars, was the soggy fries. Cannot say enough about the veal sandwich though!

Quantity (size) is big, taste not so much. And their is a reason for it...and a hidden tip...don't go for take out... have it fresh at the place itself. The veal option is a case in point... have it fresh and hot... otherwise be ready for a disturbing taste experience. Rice balls are passable. Chicken is decent though. But this one is pricy. Not to everyone's taste.

Decent sandwiches. Can have long lines during lunch hour between 12-1. It is better to go before or after the busiest lunch hour. Make sure you ask for receipt. I was over charged.

On the fence. California's use to be one of our favorites, lately they seem to have dropped the ball. Prices have changed, I know meat has taken a big jump in price but really $12 for what was $10.50. $8 for a veal use to include tax now its $8 plus tax, toppings have gone up as well. I had the veal with sweet peppers and onions (asked for mushrooms but never got them) too much breading not enough meat, over sauced and saggy. And really would it hurt to be pleasant and smile when you serve a customer.
3 guys, 3 sandwiches no drinks or sides $37 ouch.

Completely unlike any of the other locations; this place is terrible. Like other reviewers, service was slow and uninspired, though not rude. When my sandwich was finally ready, it was greasy, and looked like it had been fried in dirty oil. It actually looked like it had been fried twice. It seemed the young people working there couldn't care less about the product or customers. I will definitely not be coming back here, sorry.

Lousy Service. This place took 30 minutes to give two sandwiches.
They use the same knife to slice veg and meat sandwiches. You should request to use separate one. Watch it out.
They don't have telephone number on the receipts
They serve the customers by line up
The kitchen is very slow.

Good veals but completely overpriced. I've lived in Heartland for over three years and have eaten there twice because it's so expensive compared to all the other takeout options in the area. I can't justify $20+ on two heavily breaded veal sandwiches. This is nothing like the original location I used to enjoy as a kid.

I love California sandwiches. However this location is definately not up to par. You get a smaller portion of meat that is dry. And service is not even close to being like that if Claremont richmind hill or Woodbridge location. I can tolerate bad service if the food is worth it but at this location there is nothing to look forward to

I can completely understand why this place only got 57% compared to its competitor down the street San Francesco's at 97%. I have been ordering Veals from here for a year now just hoping that maybe I'll be lucky to catch them on a good day and actually get to eat fresh veal (like they have at the California Sandwiches on the Queensway in Etobicoke). I have been more disappointed than happy with their quality of food and service as of late. The reason I continued to go there is because the service was good up until recently. The person at the cash has now been replaced by a very rude young lady. I ordered my food well in advance because I know it takes them forever to warm up day old veal and when I returned to pick it up the girl at the cash told me that 1) my food wasn't ready even after half hour after placing the order and 2) they lost my receipt and didn't know what I ordered. I gave them my copy of the order and about 5 minutes later my food was ready (surprisingly). The young lady yelled out to me that my food was ready and then yelled "for here or to go?" but I was only a few feet away from her. I got home, by that time I was starved, and took a bite of my sandwich only to realize that I just ingested mushrooms which I am VERY allergic to and obviously did not order. I got very sick! So my advice for them in order to keep their business afloat is this 1) hire competent staff 2) train your staff how to speak to customers appropriately so the customers want to come back and 3) get your orders right so you don't make your customers ill. It's really just common sense... Figure it out.

Love the food... hate the service. I do understand and agree with the previous 2 people. The food is delicious, but the girls who work the counter??? HORRIBLE. They make you feel you are bothering them. Also, I went in and just had eye surgery so I couldnt see straight and asked if there was an extra charge for toppings and she said "look up there...!" I was thinking... If I could see I wouldnt ask. Guess the eyepatch did click into her. Anyways... I left and went to another restaurant in that area. But the food is good if you dont care how you are treated!

A few months ago I started going to the California sandwiches in heartland, and I've been eating there atleast twice a week since. The sandwiches are great, but the Tiramisu is the best I've ever eaten. There's been a couple of times when the cashier wasn't the greatest in terms of customer service, but that happens everywhere. Overall I love their food and I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Calis serves good food. But the girl at the counter didn't have manners you could tell she was upset to be working on a Sunday. I understand this is not a full service restaurant but customers should be treated with respect. I don't need to deal with attitude from a 19 year old when grabbing a quick bite to eat. I ended up leaving and going next door to Licks. Stay away from this location.

Nelson @ Heartland: Always wanted to try this place and finally did. We tried the veal and the steak w/ onions. The veal is a fairly generous size and very very thin, although I'm not sure whether that's good or bad. Even though the veal was covered in sauce and there was cheese, it still felt kinda dry in the mouth. Maybe I should have splurged and got the mushrooms and sweet peppers as well. The beef was only ok, because it was really tendony and I was not able to get clean bites out of the sandwich...slices of beef kept coming out with every bite. Big portions though which is nice. A little disappointed, especially since I like this type of sandwich and the ones Dre bought at other locations looked better.
