Review San Francesco's Foods - Mississauga

Great experience. Manage your expectations. It’s a second generation Business famous for Veal, Sausage, Chicken and Steak Sandwiches. Pizza is also very good. I get mine well done so it’s not too doughy but with a nice crunch and flavour. Beer is cold. Place is best for take out, but good for sports if you want a table. Also try lasagna, spicy olives and good salads. 4.5/5 - on todays visit.

We regularly take-out the party pizza from this location. It's great value for a family and the amount of toppings are always generous. We recently discovered their panzerotti and like the pizza, not only is the portion size very good, but it is also very cheesy - great for dipping. Super nice staff - always friendly and always busy! Keep up the good work!

Haven't been here in years as I live out of the area. Today for my birthday I felt like a veal sandwich & beer so drove down with my Mom! Still THE best sandwich I've ever had and super friendly service! My Mom's first time there and she loved it! Not too many authentic places like this around anymore, thanks guys for a fantastic birthday lunch! 🙂

Best location! If you're doing takeout, ask for the buns on the side so when you get home your sandwich isn't a soggy mess...but let's face it, that's half the fun!

Don't be fooled by the run down as appearance of the place. Looks can be deciving. This place has awesome pizzas, panzarotti and sandwiches. If you love your meat and cheese in the carbs this place is highly recommended.

The very best veal sandwich and Greek salad. Been going here for at least 20 years. Always delicious.

The food here is out of this world. Soooo good. Best veal sandwiches around.

Got a veggie sandwich and garlic bread with cheese. Their regular sauce has anchovies, good thing I asked. They used pasta sauce for my veggie sandwich. They loaded it up with toppings too Garlic bread came on the same bun as the sandwich and it was great. Friendly staff. I came around 8:30pm and the outside lights weren't on so it was a bit hard to see being my first time. Will stop by again since On A Bun down the street has closed down

Absolutely fantastic. Better than California sandwiches. Our office goes here weekly and never let down. This is our go to sandwich place for sure.

Went with family last Saturday as kids wanted to have pizza. Decided rather than go to the normal national chains go to SF.
Ordered a large pizza with three topping special, a veg sandwich and a bowl of spicy olives

The jumbo olives were good and with a nice kick to it. The pizza was great. Not short changed on the toppings. The crust needs a little work - bit dry. If it was thinner it would have been perfect.

The veg sandwich had green peppers, tomatoes mushrooms, cheese and some tomato sauce and a jalapeño. The sandwich was for my spouse bit the first bite she ate she got the jalapeño which was SPICY. She could not handle it and I took over and devoured it.
The inside is too dark and needs some upgrade. The service was good. Prices reasonable and food was fresh. Better than the chains.
Would go back again for sure

Bad Phone Manners. I called this location to place a pick up order recently. It felt like I was intruding or interrupting the guy by trying to place an order.
I felt uncomfortable almost lucky the he answered the phone and took an order. Cancelled it - went elsewhere.

Horrible Panzerotti. Tonight by mistake I ordered from the unity gate store. What a HUGE mistake. The panzerotti was over cooked with very little ingredients inside and deep fried in what was obviously OLD oil. I was very disappointed. We usually order from the Britannia San Francescos and it's always delicious. Unity Gate is in need of an overhaul as well ... the restaurant is ancient and didn't appear to be very clean...

Great Pizza. There is a lot of good food here, sandwiches, panzerotti, they are lined out the door sometimes.
The interior is way too small, and the take out counter is a major hinderance to enjoying your food, even phone ordering it can take over 10 minutes to pick up because of the lines and the inability to manage people in that tiny space.

The negatives aside the food is amazing, I often order pizza for take out and it is real pizza, none of this Indian using bread dough and fake topping garbage. The pizza is sizable, filling and old school. It takes a while to order, sometimes 30-45 mins but worth it, just make sure they don't overcook it, they seem to do that.

Best veal sandwiches around the area! And the pizza is awesome too!
Not a date spot, but great food!

You get what you pay for. I realize that some comments have been made regarding the atmosphere but it's not a traditional restaurant. You go and order Veal/Chicken Sandwich and you get a good serving for a good price. Same with the Pizza and Panzerotti. And they're friendly enough for my taste...definitely 4 out 5 stars for overall quality and value.

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!. Im not really sure what all of these people are preaching about when it comes commenting on establishments like these. You need to understand what you are paying for. When you visit a restaurant / bar like San Fran's you are not going there for the great customer service.. you are not going there for the new Modern atmosphere. You are simply going for a Great Veal or Steak Sandwich. Or a Panzo / Pizza combo. You really cant find the quality of food for the price you pay anywhere else in the city. They even have 4 Big screens in the back to watch some sports games.
I have eating there for 15 years and most of the clientele has been doing the same. Its a Traditional place which will not change much either way. I would recommend this Hidden Gem to anyone who is Hungry or Thirsty.

Not good. Although the food is cheap and tasty, the vibe in this place is terrible. I don't think it is possible to have staff members any more depressing then the staff that works there. You don't get greeted, they really just say "what do you want?" and that's it. They need a makeover. The layout is absolutely terrible, if there are many customers going to get take out then it is extremely crowded. I won't go into this place anymore due to the staff being so depressing and they make the customers (not just me) feel unwanted and like they don't want to be there either.

Bad Food & Poor Customer Service. Arrival To The Restaurant:
On Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at approximately 5pm a party of seven (6 adults and one child arrived at San Francesco Foods, Mississauga, 2979 Unity Gate. Mississauga.
We are regulars at least once a month we eat here.

Ordering Counter:
The first two of our party of seven orders and received their food and began to eat so it didn't go cold and as they did we waited, and waited and waited, waited, waited, more than, 40 minutes until I went up to the counter to ask what the problem was? The guy who took my order said that it was ready and sitting on the counter in bags to go, I clearly told him we didn't order our food to go we are sitting in the back waiting and waiting for our food. He proceeded to look at me like I was being difficult or rude to him which was not the case at all. After further probing I asked him again when are we going to get our food?
The guy who took our order was out in space somewhere completely, not only did he try and deliver the soggy cold meal that I paid $44.00 for he showed no emotion sorrow or even regard for the food that he was delivering to us, it was disgusting. So once again we told him that this was unacceptable and asked for new dinners (the meal was completed cold). He came back with the same bun (soggy) and reheated meat the whole meal was disgusting, the panzarotti was hard as a rock and looked like it was re-deep fried or re-heated int he microwave, again disgusted.

Customer Service
The guy who took our order was comatose no apology for the delay, cold food, disregard and lack of any type of customer service what-so-ever . I needed additional water for my son and I went to the counted and didn't know that I was ordering from the manager and I told him these waters should be free due to the huge mix up in order dinner and he simply replied it was just a miscommunication, ya buddy on who's part?. I said what, are you kidding me, you had no problem taking my money....

Conclusion:
Until last Saturday I really enjoyed going to this San Francesco but it must have changed owners because they do not have any organization behind the counter or in the back where we sat, we all saw a table of people actually get up and leave because they were not being acknowledged or served.
I don't think I would recommend this to my family or friends and I will not be coming back anytime soon because they have inexperienced individuals working there and it is obvious that they are only out for the almighty buck and don't value the dining experience. It really is unfortunate that they will loose all those loyal customers they once had over the years.

Recommendations:
Hire some females and pay attention to your customers.

Very bad service and cold food.. I went there with six other people last evening.Got there at 5pm,one couple ordered sandwiches and got them within ten minutes. The rest wait 1/2 hour NOTHING.Go up to the counter and were are told, you ordered to go.No we didnt after all we are all sitting together and came in together. The surly server comes over and drops the cold sandwiches and fries down on our plate and leaves.ARE YOU JOKING BUD.We go up and tell him we want fresh, hot sandwiches. They did comply, but total time in resturant 1 1/2hours.I called the owner today,he was there last night and puts it down to a miscommunication in the order. So if you dont want to be miscommunicated and you dont want cold food, stay away from this joint.BTW we have been regular customers there for four years, reaglar in the sense that we went there at least once a month.

Fantasic sandwich! Great Value!. Recently went here with a few colleagues from work for some veal sandwiches. The restaurant probably hasn't been renovated in at least 20 years, and it is a bit dark inside, but if good value and good food is what you are looking for then look for further! Veal sandwiches are served with salad and a drink for under 10 dollars. Honestly, they use twice as much veal as other restaurants do, and the salad is put together in front of you at the front counter. The ladies in our group, could not finish all the food and left me more than satisfied for the rest of the day. Definitely a place to come back to!

I've been going here for 20 years or so. I actually remember when it opened. Pizza is great, although the individual slices aren't as good as they one were. The panzerottis are good do I don't know what that other loser is talking about. Best bet at San Fran's is the veal sandwich. The beer used to be super cheap but went up in price. Was always. Good cheap place for a few beers and a meal. Not a bad tv situation either for watching games.

Some of those reviews are nasty.... I've never had a problem. As a matter of fact, I eat at the new modern John's San Francesco Foods at Dixie and Dundas in Mississauga, a block from the new Walmart. I can do my shopping and then eat after. www.sanfrancesco.ca They go up and beyond of what is expected of them and are always upgrading. Look for their coming new outdoor patio.

As for the nasty reviews, they are coming from jealous San Francesco Food operators trying to steer business away. And any dramatic comments are probably not from your normal customer so I would just ignore them.

Best pizza value in town bar none ! Best italian sandwich value plate also. I only had one bad pizza (new guy cooking) in many years 10+ years.... Not a bad record. Pizza & sandwiches are tasty.

THESE GUYS GIVE ITALIAN FOOD A BAD NAME. San Francesco Foods just made THE WORST Panzorotto my family and I have ever had! They must have put a block of mozzarella in each of them, was like chewing on caulking that you put around your windows or bath tub... the orders were all wrong... they put all four of them in a pizza box unmarked... who the hell puts panzorottos in a pizza box. They couldn't even make the one with pepperoni right... what you couldn't spare more than 4 pepperoni slices you cheap S.O.B.? My kids said they couldn't eat them becuase they didn't smell good... they tried one bit and walked away from the table! These Panzorottos were not even fit for my garbage. The way I see it... San Francescos just riped me for $36. You pieces of merda! Its to bad I wasn't closer to bring them back. This was my first experience with San Francesco Foods 2979 UNITY GATE, MISSISSAUGA ON and it will be my last! If anyone says San Francesco around me I will make sure they know not to go there... You guys should appologies to all the other San Fracesco Restaurants out there... you just ruined it for every one. What a dissappointment you are. Thanks for ruining my friday night.

Great place with great bunch of guys working. San Francesco's on Unity is a little "hole in the wall" place with delicious food. From their veal to their pizzas, the food is very tasty. I usually grab a sandwich special which includes a choice of chicken, steak or veal sandwich, Greek or Caesar salad and a pop, including tax, under $10. In the back of the establishment is a little bar and a sit down area with several big TV screens. Often the place is packed cause the place is frequented by many Portuguese and other ethnic groups who come there to eat, drink and watch soccer events such as the EURO Cup and the World Championships. People travel long distances just to drop in and pick up one of the special deals. Like I stated ...it's a great place.

Good Sandwich. Pizza is bad but I only grab sandwiches form here. It's simple get a sandwich with peppers, add a cup of olives on the side and you are ready to go.

Pata. I went to San Francesco Foods to pick up a large pizza and ordered it thin crust, well done and 3 toppings. When it was done I drove home and found out it was not cooked well enough and not thin crust. It was so chewy and rubbery because the doe was still raw in the middle. I was really disappointed with this place and will not go back again.

The pizza slices have been getting worse and worse over the years. Never going back for a slice. Their sandwiches are very good though.
