Review Galito's - Mississauga

Great place for Halal Peri Peri Chicken. I had ordered full Perri Perri Chicken, large fries, large poutine and garlic bread. The food was fresh and it was so tasty. I had used the Groupon coupon and they were so helpful in me choosing the sides. The restaurant was very clean and I highly recommend visiting with family at least once...

I took a chance on this place I’ve never been to before and I don’t regret it. In fact, I’ve been craving it a few times since I’ve tried it couple weeks ago. I just got a medium spicy chicken leg and rice and everything was very tasty. The chicken was cooked perfect and the rice was flavourful and fluffy (not dry at all). Would highly recommend!

I have been to Galito's previously and found it nice but I haven't been for years after that because I prefer to go to Nando's. However, when I came across a good deal on Groupon (that is, after adding extra discounts), I decided to give it another go. It's easy to spot and this specific location is bigger than the one I've visited before. It also looked cleaned and well kept. My order was ready on time (called in advance). What's supposed to be a family meal didn't really look like it. The portion size, especially for the fries and the roasted veggies (what I chose) were very small. The fries were crispy and served hot so that was good. If portion size for the sides specially was a little bigger then it'd be good for sharing. Good value for money regardless. If you get in on Groupon. I liked the spices they added to the peri fries. Cashier was nice and service was quick. Order was ready on time.

We have been frequenting Galito’s for a few years now and are never left disappointed. The chicken is always well seasoned and fresh. Galito’s offers a large variety of sauces to go with the chicken. The peri peri fries are a must try and the coleslaw perfectly compliments the rest of the meal. We often get the family meal which consists of 1 whole chicken, 2 large sides and 4 garlic bread sticks. This meal is generally enough to feed 4 people. The service at Galitos has always been attentive. I find their portion size is better than Nando’s and so are their prices. This place is a must try with family or friends!

The restaurant is very clean with lots of room for dine in. The Monday- Friday lunch specials were excellent both times I visited. The portions are large. The restaurant was generous with the chicken and fries.

The quality of chicken was soo good specially the hot peri peri flavour. The sauces offered i felt are way better than Nandos. Side options are reasonably OK. I loved the peri fries and the bread sticks. Wud try the peri rice next time. 5* to the front staff, specially Raj and her colleague. You guys were great as we had a good time. 🙂

I had the 1/4 chicken breast with peri peri fries and it was delicious. One of the best peri peri fries I’ve had in a long time and the chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was just fantastic. Even the service was quick and good quality food. 100% recommended

I had lunch today at Galito's Flame-Grilled Chicken.

You choose what you want from the menu above the cash and then order and pay for it. They bring it to you when it's ready (it took about 10 minutes). I ordered a 1/2 chicken with mild sauce and corn on the cob as my side. The chicken was just okay ... kind of on the small side. The corn was just okay too ... it seemed like it had been soaking in water for a while and then put on the grilled to heat it up and char.

The staff weren't very friendly.

Nelson: A Portuguese Chicken place started in the west end of Toronto, they are expanding outwards. I guess they must be doing something right. Maybe it's their sauce. On the left is the Hot Peri-Peri sauce (comes in extra hot and mild as well). Unlike many other places, the hot sauce here actually is spicy. Nothing crazy, but you (I) can feel it. Garlic is my favourite as it is flavourful as well as being spicy. I didn't like the herb and lemon that much.

Here is a half chicken with Peri-Peri fries ($15) and corn. As you can see, part of the chicken was not charred, and even though it looks like the outside of the chicken, it might have been against another part of the chicken. The chicken by itself I found was not that flavourful, but the sauces make up for that. The chicken breast was a tad dry, but the leg was good. The fries had a nice aounnt of spice to it.

The corn is was grilled too much and shrunk a little too much.

Overall based on this one experience, while Galito's is decent, I like Nando's better.

Came here today for the second time as I used the washroom the night before and got a peak at their menu which enticed me to come again. Their menu prices are very cheap and reasonable and my veggie platter was around 11 dollars but as you can see - was loaded. Now the only odd thing about it was the fries and roasted potatoes- I mean it's good to try both but so much potato, they usually don't go together. But thank God I had options as I really enjoyed their fries. My favourite part of the dish was the coleslaw - it was amazinggggg. The potatoes were ok kind of bland but the veggies were extremely spicy omg. I feel like the potatoes could have been cooked a little more but like I wasn't expecting so much spice. It only kicked in after I was completely done the coleslaw. I also ate all of the rice with the coleslaw so I don't know if it was the fact that the coleslaw hid the spice or it wasn't spicy at all but I loved the subtle peppers with it- very delicious. Not quite sure what makes the rice yellow but whatever it is hope it's healthy because it's good. I was tempted to get garlic bread for only 2$ what a deal! Maybe next time. The only disappointing part was that the veggies advertised in the veggie platter were : mushrooms, onions, peppers and zucchini. Now I love zucchini but there were very little if any at all (I think 2) but I am an even bigger fan of mushrooms which there were completely none of ! They should definitely include it in the future. The veggies were too hot so it was hard to enjoy them but it was mostly pepper and onion pretty much. Maybe next time I can ask if there is a mild version of everything even though I wasn't aware that the normal temperature is hot (as they did not ask my preference or anything like that so I would assume it is). The service was really nice from the guys behind the counter. I'm pretty sure the guy who owns the spot was helping me out but he was too kind! He told me to sit in the party room as there was extra seating there since it was packed and so I did. I was confused because you pay upfront then I didn't know where to wait for the food but they told me to sit and it will be delivered. I felt bad I didn't tip upfront because they at least deliver it to the table but you have to get your own utensils so it's really not the full service but they still try. He gave me free water when I dined in and he was super nice when he realized I was being awkward about where to find cutlery and stuff like that- it was just new to me because I forgot the cutlery and then the lady just put the food down and I'm thinking how am I supposed to eat? Not knowing you get it yourself haha she's like "Just to let you know this is a party room you're sitting in" I guess she didn't get the memo that the owner told me to sit there and so it felt a little weird because I thought it was just another extension of the dining room for extra seating but it made sense when she said that since there was a sliding door (which was open at the time) but like why say that unless you want me to move so I offered to move since the tables cleared up more by the time I got my food but she said no no just say. Kind of pointless but I guess I got new info. You could tell the guy at the front was trying really hard to please which I appreciate. Also, expect to wait a good 10-15 min max for your food since they make it fresh :-). Overall I would return many times for the coleslaw and to try the garlic bread and for that awesome rice but maybe not the full out veggie platter unless it's mild- but French fries aren't too healthy lol even though they are delicious. The place is super clean and everything. Overall was good.

Galito's is a portugese chicken restaurant located on Dixie close to Eglington. Anchoring the corner of a small plaza, the restaurant is rather large inside with enough tables to corral a large lunch boom. The menu is strictly chicken (though there is a random steak sandwich as well?) and some sides to go along with said chicken.

Their lunch menu is $10 for 4 different options (which I have pictured below). I went with the double leg combo with rice and fries (because carbs on carbs) for $10. The chicken legs were grilled perfectly and I had my choice of mild or hot (mild for me because I'm a b***h) and they douse it in the sauce without making the chicken skin soft. The reason I loved it too was because it was not greasy at all. Hot sauce and grilled chicken with no grease? Yes. Fries and rice were good but it wouldn't matter if they were bad either. The fact that the rice and fries were good only helped to make the lunch that much better?

There are lots of Portugese chicken places around, and I love so many of them. The thing I enjoy about Galito's is the chicken. Everything else was OK, but as long as the chicken is good. I'm good.
