Review Chako Restaurant - Mississauga

Mathilda Wright
My best advice for those considering to spend their money here is don’t. There are plenty of better Korean BBQ places that are clean and give value for the money you spent. The drink menu was dirty (pictured) during a global pandemic, table had not been wiped down properly upon arrival, mirror next to our was filthy which shows they don’t care for cleanliness, there were bits floating in our waters and the cups were very dirty, made me lose my appetite. On top of this all, the manager was extremely rude and aggressively dropped our food on the table saying we ordered too much and would be charged for unfinished portions (which is fine but we always order the same amount at KBBQ and finish it all no problem. He could have been more professional in his mannerism). The shrimp is not depooped, the short ribs were very fatty and the calamari inedible. Oysters were unclean. Overall, extremely disappointed with service, food quality and lack of cleanliness. Stay away!

Really fun time. Lots of good food and variety (we went on wknd different food options) had short, ribs, chicken, pork, shrimp, squid. Variety of veggies and ice cream to top it off. Very good sushi too. Had a blast. The service is good, quick and helpful. Will go back.

First time attending an establishment with this conceptual flare!! Though it took a while for the grill to warm before our food arrived- once it did it was well worth it :) Lots of meat; if you are carnivores then you'll love it!!! ❤ I enjoyed the concept and the Chapman's ice cream as the treat. Definitely will return again

I think we just had dinner in hell 🤢 This was by far the worst BBQ experience I’ve had. From pathetic service, to barn-yard quality meat, and abysmal cleanliness and ventilation, this restaurant is a hazard to your health and self worth. Avoid at all cost, you’ll find a better meal at the cash register of your local 7/11 gas station.

Last birthday meal for the CEO and it was another AYCE affair, this time it was Korean food. We met up with 3 local friends and they recommended this place. . This is apparently a very popular restaurant so it was really busy. The place was massive so there was enough room for everyone. . Although the meat, seafood and vegetable selections were plentiful and of good quality, the lack of flavour in all of them left a lot to be desired. There was just soya sauce on the table and we didn’t see any other sauce options on the ticket. . We ordered a lot and the waiter probably thought we won’t be able to finish them but he didn’t know what was coming for him. 🤣🤣🤣 . The service was actually very quick and efficient but not intrusive. . We asked for our grills to be changed but surprisingly we were told that they don’t change them. How weird was that? I’ve never been to any Korean restaurant that did that? If anything, they are always too quick to change grills??? . Overall verdict: *Food - 4* *Service - 4* *Price - 2* (would have been 5* at $34.99 per person for lunch but I didn’t realize that they already tacked on 12% of service charge in the bill and so I added another 20% for tip!!!). I know I should have looked at the bill first before approving the POS machine but maybe I missed a notice that they will automatically a service charge for a party or 6? We’ve always tipped 15% - 25% no matter how bad the food or the service was but 32% was a bit too much. . Notwithstanding the small hiccups, it was still a great last birthday meal for Mr. HuiJang-Nim and a fitting conclusion to the week long birthday celebration because of the presence of awesome friends.

This is the review for Chaka Mississauga. I went there for lunch and the place looks run down. The last time i went was in Markham and it was alot nicer and cleaner. The blinds where dusty and greasy. The food was good with variety. But i thought it was rather pricey for lunch. For two people i cost us $100. including tips and taxes. I never looked at the breakdown on the bill but it did not make sense to me. After i left i calculated buffet was 35.99 x 2 and i ordered 1 coke($3.50). Plus if you pay cash u get 10% off.would be $67.93 after the 10% off x 13% HST = $76.76. The waiter told me the bill was $89 after the 10% off and i gave him $11.00 tip. i was in a hurry so i never questioned the bill. To this day i don’t know how it was 89$. Anyhow i don’t think its worth the money for this price. Hence only 4 tables was occupied during the time we were there for lunch. Make it a habbit to Check your bill before you pay.

This is my go to for affordable AYCE KBBQ. The servers are always kind to us and the food is always great. Prices have increased due to COVID and some hours have changed so I would check before showing up.

Great food. Marinades they use have lots of flavor. Our server Tai was good too. Made a birthday cake out of the desert ice creams for us.

Service was horrible! Staff was completely disorganized and had no clue what was going on. The food was mediocre. This was only my second time here and I won't be back. They also, don't tell you that in addition to the price of your meal, there is a 10% gratuity added as a "tip." I wouldn't mind paying this if the service was up to par, but in this case, it wasn't worth it. Spoke to the manager, who didn't seem to care, so it wasn't even worth my breath. For those thinking of going here, think again.

This is our first time to dine in this place. Our stove was defective and not working well, the waiter tried to fix it still didn't work. So we asked him to moved us to other table but he said there's no more available table. While 8 of our friends/ family are happily eating and full. Four (4) us in our table end up hungry and patiently waiting our food slowly cooking. The waiter also said he has already brought this issue to the management and they know this stove is defective and yet he said they are not doing any action to fix it. Worse we are about to leave, when we pass by in the other side of the restaurant and found out that there's a lot of empty table but they didn't offer to us to move in there. We feel so bad not happy and contented so we bowed that we'll never come back again to this place.

Got 3 stars cause the food is ok and we didnt leave hungry, but... the server seemed overwhelmed with our group of 6. But the worst was at the end of our dinner, they said that they added 10% to our bill for tip for background workers (chefs, hosts etc) and that we should tip the servers separately in addition to that. All restaurants have chefs and hosts, but this is the first place where they bother you with stuff like that. The friends we brought with us said they will not come back.

Food was good. But was not impressed with the 10% service charge and the server had the nerve to ask for more. I was there at the end of the night, and saw the server only to pick up food that was uncooked to bring back to the kitchen to reuse. Not going back.

Such a unique place, ask for Lindsey as your server, he is hilarious!! He’s got great hair!! Oh yeah, the food is excellent too!!

Perhaps it's because of the renovation... serving staff was disorganized, took away the clean cutlery as we sat down, brought our salads but still no cutlery (chopsticks or metal). Very limited selection "because of the renovations." My friend ordered a red dragon roll...I know most are slightly different but I've never seen anything like that called a red dragon roll before (there was nothing about it that was red except the plate! Lol!). However, the roll's taste was good. The miso soup and chicken teriyaki were scrumptious but the sushi seemed kind of old. The rice under the sashimi was soaked in a fishy taste (I mean more than I've ever tasted before). The only reason I'd give it more than one star is because of the taste of the miso soup, roll and the chicken teriyaki.

First time dinning there and I loved! We didn't know it works and our server Steven explained for us. He was very kind always asking if we are ok or if we need something. I loved everything and I highly recommend it.

Was skeptical after reading some reviews. But the food was excellent!! Our server was great. The only rude staff we came across was the girl at the front desk. We were a party of 5 adults & 2 kids. Only thing I didn't like was being forced to pay a 10% service charge. I hope that goes to the server cause we didn't add much more for tip. If it hadn't been forced she would've gotten 15%.
Ailene T Gomez
Food was quite good! I just do not understand the 16% service charge when you actually cook your own food. Also, ventilation was awful! You can smell the smoke all over the restaurant. Lastly, there’s not enough vegetables served.
Nicole Lilley
Fast and friendly service. Every time I'm in town I have to eat here. Would highly recommend.

1st visit, a real unique dinner experience. My wife and I tried beef, chicken, pork and on tongue, and all were very nicely seasoned. Peppers, kimchi, sprouts, and rice were very good as well. For $25pp all-you-can-eat on a Saturday night, great value for your $. Attentive staff, nice atmosphere, four thumbs up!

The restaurant was great service was fast and the food was amazing. We went on a week day when they don't have the full menu Buber was so good we are planning to return on the weekend.
Isaac Alcarde
They have a service charge then an additional tip for servers. The fact that they're asking for an addition twice warrants them 1 star. "I hated it" says that star.

Service was pretty crappy and the hostess acted like we were bothering her when we walked in...she wasnt helpful or friendly at all. The meat was meh. I have had better Korean Bbq at other places.
Sadia A. Khan
Food was great. The servers were really friendly. Especially the ice-cream as dessert. I will obviously go there with my friends.
FoodieElla
This is my go to all you can eat Korean Bbq spot. They have a pretty good selection but for more, go on a weekend dinner. The one thing that I don’t like about this place is the service usually, but it’s had its ups.... depends on your sever.
Thomas Anthony
Worst experience ever. Place had smoke everywhere with poor ventilation, the server was very rude and made a huge scene about not tipping enough over the already 10% service charge added. Server wouldn’t come to the table and would just ignore our table when called. When we asked for sauce he said no and walked away. When he asked for more tip, he made it loud enough so all the other tables could hear, why would you want to go to a restaurant like this? There’s much better kbbq places out there!

Decided to check this place out on a Sunday, luckily it was not the busy and we were seated fairly quickly. I believe there are 2 restaurants within this establishment.

As soon as you enter, the smell of BBQ hits you. The ventilation is at least good enough so there isn't that much smoke but prepare to leave smelling like BBQ.

Food:
Weekends menu includes some items (like lamb, steak) which aren't included during the weekday.
The quality of the meat was good. the beef was very tasty and flavourful (cooked medium rare). Beef ribs was a bit hard to chew as it was very fatty. The steak was suprisngly good too!

I wasn't too big of a fun of the chicken as 1) it's harder/takes longer to cook 2) not too fond of the seasoning

Sushi: California roll - I've had better sushi this was average.

They bring you two trays of each and will charge you $5 per tray which wasn't used so order wisely.

On the weekend, their special drink is the mocktail and the mango one was delicious!!!

Service: our server was very attentive, the food was brought out fairly quickly, and he even changed the plate when we asked.

Price: they add a 10% tip to the bill automatically roughly weekend price $40-$45/person.
Winnie
The receptionist very unpleasant!
When we came this place 3 people around 5:00 pm, she asked us wait. After 15min, another family came waited 10min, she guide them in. Now we waited half hour, empty reception station.. she forgot us totally ...whole time her face no smile looks like so angry....like her mind not on the job... I lost my appetite....food is ok, waiter is great..But this receptionist too depressing!

We went on a Sunday dinner with eight people in our group. It was pretty busy and there were three groups ahead of us and the front desk told us it was a 45 minute wait. They were courteous when dealing with waiting patrons and even got our table within just 30 minutes.
We got seated and got our drinks first then the waitress proceeded to take our order. That is the first thing that makes this dining experience bad. The orders get lost in translation when it's as noisy as it was in the restaurant. Other Korean BBQ eat all you can, you write the order and they bring the food more accurately. We had to ask for the rice twice.
Portions of the food were good and so was the prepared side dishes like tofu, miso soup, kimchi and bean sprouts. The cuts were just right for not the patrons to under or over cook. Meat, veggies or seafood. The great thing about weekend dinner, every item is available on the menu for you to try.
Another negative part of this visit was the way the tip was explained to us. We weren't sure about the 12% service charge so we asked the server. She said that the service charge is part of the bill and the servers were only given 2% of this. We felt bad because we had two servers and does this mean that they only get 1%? We put another 10% tip but someone told us that in restaurants like this, the service charge is good enough tip. We over-tipped, so to speak. Was it worth it to over-tip? No, because they only brought us food twice and always had to wait for a while for a pop refill. The servers were nice but not efficient.
Dessert was very plain. They had chocolate mousse, chocolate and strawberry ice cream and mango mousse. The mango was not available.
The ice cream was served in a styro foam cup and tasted like milk that was frozen. The chocolate mousse was just whipped cream with chocolate flavour.
All in all, if I was craving for Korean BBQ, I might just go straight to restaurant that serves a la carte and even pay less for more detailed service.

Good place for BBQ grill. Not many choices though. We have a group of 12 people here for lunch. It is an acceptable experience but could be better.
A wonderful experience!!!
It's a Korean tabletop barbecue Great experience 👌
Tried Chako out in December 2016 for lunch Nd went with the buffet
They brought in the raw marinated thin slices of meats and veggies
We cooked it on the table grill so needed some patience but was a fantastic meal
I think it was about $23 + tax for each person The sad part is they didn't have appetisers only the mains unlike some other Korean places They didn't give any sauces Had to ask for it
The miso soup was good
For the mains they didn't have much choice
Only 3/4 options but was good 😊 had to ask for the dipping sauce for which they gave some plain soya sauce
The mango dessert was great too
I've been to better Korean places where for the buffet they also give appetisers
Though limited choice this place was good
A great experience
Every person on our table 8 of us enjoyed the food , the experience and the service

Came here the other day. My first impression was the potent smell of smoke and some fruit flies awaiting us at the table. Also, I was surprised when I found out we have to cook our own food. The tiger shrimp was disgusting. The short ribs and the fish were good though. The pineapple was a tad sour but zucchini was perfect. Sushi was fresh and delicious. The mango and strawberry smoothie drinks were both good. Good service but they forgot to bring us steamed rice, refill our water and check on us enough. It was all alright. May return. Oh yeah and the chocolate ice cream was good at the end too!

Other reviewers are giving Chako a bad rap. Korean BBQ is tough to find in the west end and we were thrilled when Chako expanded from Markham into Mississauga. The thinly sliced beef and pork cook on your table grill in minutes. The chicken and beef ribs take a little longer. All are pre-seasoned, something we think they have actually improved on in recent months.

It's nice to be able to get Korean BBQ AND a bit of sushi, though just a selection of the most common rolls and hand rolls. We really enjoy Chako and recommend it.

Update April 2017: The food was as good or better than usual. What's new however is the addition of a 10% service charge, even when dining as a couple. We tip fairly generously but don't like it forced on us. Bad call.

POOR AND RUDE SERVICE. We went to Mississauga location at CourtneyPark last Friday, August 1, 2015, which was my birthday dinner. There were 5 of us. Food is really great. Unfortunately SERVICE is POOR. Wait staff are too stressed most especially our waiter, Asian looking guy named JACK. He has been very rude since we entered. He sat us on a table and asked if it was our first time to come in. When we said yes, he smirked and laughed and said okay I will give you everything on the menu anyway. So he brought all the choices. Every time we ask for something, he would dump it on our table like he is throwing it at us. He announced that we have a two hour limit to our dinner. Mind you, that includes your own cooking in the 2 hour period, because you have to BBQ your own meat. We checked in at 630 P.M. according to our reservation, but at 7:30 P.M. he was handing us the bill with the little credit card machine already. My husband refused to pay saying that we still have one more hour. And he looked at us like he was so annoyed. He came back on the 2nd hour and handed us the bill once more. My husband paid the bill and decided to adda tip despite his rudeness. He then complained to my husband saying you should add more tip because that money will go to my manager. his manager's name is NIXON. My husband told him that he was lucky we decided to give him a tip after the way he treated us. He shrugged and left. So arrogant. We are never going back to eat here anymore and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else.
Dont waste your money. I came here for my birthday a couple hours ago, i was seated very quickly but was soon faced with many disappointments. Firstly, our server was terrible. He did not come to our table once to see if everything was okay, he only came when we flagged him down. Secondly, when asked for knives to cut the meat he said they 'didnt have any' and to 'rip it'. When we also him if he could change the grill, he swung the hot grill up in the air so fast it almost hit my guest in the head. Thirdly, the food was terrible. There were barely any side dishes, NO dipping sauces, not great quality meat, huge pieces that we were unable to cut and cold/hard rice. Not to mention the meat had no flavour, it tasted as though it had been sitting in red food coloured water. Lastly, we were served dirty dishes. My poor mothers had a cup that was covered in what i assume to be coke. The entire class was sticky and the rim was covered in what looked like syrup. I wish I had taken a picture to show you both the dirty dishes and terrible food. I HIGHLY suggest not wasting your money here.

Superb Manager Friendly Staff. I have celiac disease. The manager at Chado recognized the challenges of keeping food gluten free for me if I were to use the joint BBQ. He then arranged for dinner to be cooked gluten free at Wasabi which is linked to Chado and brought to me. Staff even brought fruit for dessert. Very generous and kind manager. Serving staff were all very pleasant. A wonderful experience!

Bland food. The food was tasteless, particularly the meat. Waiters seemed pretty clueless and hesitant.

It was good!. I was scared to go here due to the reviews I read online but I like so close and my BF had heard good things from people he knows. It really cute inside and we were seated immediately. The waitress explained the way it worked and the food came really quick. I wasn't a huge fan of the sushi, but this isn't their specialty so I don't thin kit matters. if you want sushi got to a Japanese sushi place. The meat was delicious we tried everything even the tongue which was very good. We got lots of veggies and chopped them up and threw the meat marinade of them on the grill for extra flavor. We weren't crazy about the fish and the way it cooked on the grill, so we just ordered more meat. Pleasant experience

Great experience. I went to Chako with my sisters because one of them has been there before and she had loved it. i was skeptical at first but I am glad I went. We went on a Saturday at 5:30 pm and was seated after 2 minutes and all our utensils were already set out and the grill was nice and clean. A waitress immediately came by, explained the process and took our orders. They have a menu on the table where you just say what you went, no paper involve. We ordered a lot of meat, rice, sushi and HAND ROLLS! Everything was delivered quickly to our table, they came 2-3 times since we ordered a lot but we received everything we asked for. When we ordered a second time we asked them to change the grill and we just had to wait for it to cool for 5-7 minutes before it was changed. But the food was delicious and I loved the hand rolls and sushi. For dessert I ordered both mango and green tea ice cream, which tasted good. After that we asked for our bill and payed. It was a little pricey since it was the weekend but it was worth it and overall I had a great time. So I don't know about the old reviews.but maybe they got better as they gained more experience and hired better people. But the service and restaurant was nice and the food delicious. I think they only serve hand rolls and sushi at weekends and the menu has more variety. Also their was 2-3 options for hand rolls but a little more for sushi. They also had a drink menu where there was specials on certain drinks for specific days. So hopefully this was a little helpful but my sisters and I had a great experience.

I've recently went to chako and was a bit iffy about going due to the reviews that I've read. We arrived around 4:30 and were greeted by the front desk, right away we were taken to a table. Since it was my first experience with kbbq I expected the usual. The waiter was extremely helpful and great, he explained to us everything we needed to know. I was totally impressed by his service and didn't expect to receive such good service. The food was great as well, they give you 5 side dishes (kimchi and radish were my fave) and a selection of meat, vegetables, sushi to choose from. I suggest the fish, beef and chicken, the short ribs were way too thick! The price was a bit pricey for dinner totalling to almost $50 for two. overall it was a great experience, maybe the other reviews unfortunately had bad waiters but try it Out !

I went to chako on May 22 for lunch. I was kind of hesitant cus of the bad reviews, but we had a good experince our service was good and our food was seasoned properly so overall we may go again, but a bit pricey.

WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF CHAKO GOES OUT OF BUSINESS.. First time coming to this restaurant with my family and it definitely has a poor customer service.

As it was Mother's Day, we had placed a reservation and came early just in case. We were understanding in waiting for a short period of time before being seated, however, the staff began to sit others who've came for a walk-in after acknowledging our reservation. We tolerated this of course for 20 minutes and finally a waitress called us, "Hi table for 4? Come this way." As soon as she escorted us to the table (in the smallest corner of the room), she threw the menu on the table, where there were only 3 seats with 3 sets of cutlery (while the table was only suited for 2 people) and just left us there standing.

What I do not understand is that the waitress did not notice there were only a place for 3 people after she specifically asked if it was a reservation for 4. We complained to the staff and asked for a larger table, but they simply gave us a "no". They acted as if they could not do anything about it, and told us that the other tables were already reserved for a different party. After hearing this, we explained to them that we had our own reservation and that they should accommodate us prior to whomever comes later. However they just looked at us as if we were the ones imposing on their time, expecting us to come up with our own solution or magically make a chair appear. One of the waitresses was even laughing at our situation.

This is not somewhere where we would spend our money for this level of customer service so we left the restaurant. We had waited patiently and tentatively yet still received such treatment. There was absolutely no respect or accommodation from the staff, and it was the worst service my family or I have ever experienced.

BAD SERVICE!. The service here is the worst ive seen my entire life. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! so so overpriced. We got there around 9:45ish and we were starving. The girl insisted that we wait until 10:30 for the late Night special. That's almost an hr! I said no because I wanted the sushi which isn't included in the late Night special. Then, she tells us that there isn't any sushi left so there is no point. I was so disappointed because they advertise their sushi being available until 10:30. I ask for a table and she explains that no tables are clean and we would have to wait 20 minutes anyway. 20 minutes to clean a table??? Are you serious?

Then we say OK well since it you dont have sushi available and we are starving, give us the late price. She says no way. We then explain that we shouldn't have to wait until 10:30 because you don't have the items in the regular menu available. She says no no its against company policy. Then, my husband asks if we can order drinks from the bar while we wait. She says no that's not an option as well. THEN, we ask if we can have a table on either side if the restaurant since there is no option to sit at the bar. She says no that's not an option either. Believe it or not, my husband and I actually waited until 10:30 like fools.

The manager Ricky was around and didn't lock eyes with even once while we waited. Mind you, it was not busy. I asked at 10:26 if we can be seated and the girl says no again. At this point, im furious! I ask again at 10:31 and get the same response. Finally, a couple of minutes later, Ricky comes to us and says we can be seated. My husband was furious and tried to explain to this gentleman why we were so upset. He was being arrogant and my husband asked for the owner's contact and he refused to give it! We had enough and left. Totally ruined my night. I'm not the one to usually complain, but I needed other individuals to know how poor their customer service is; I have never had such a bad experience at a restaurant EVER. Esp. before I have even been seated!!

THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY/BUSINESS.

Pleasent Experience. I have always hesitated going to Chako in mississauga because of the bad reviews on this site. My experience was very good over all, the service was excellent. The servers kept checking our table for empty dishes and if we needed anything else. The servers were polite and very quick with the order. Food is very good, the beef, lamb, and the chicken were amazing. I definitely will be going there more often.

Worst Night of my Life!. I'm not even sure where to begin... I would first like to say that they told us they make no reservations, but then could not offer us a booth because those were reserved for people that made reservations...(Huh?)... No one spoke a word of English. We started ordering food, got the wrong orders several times, and we saw our waitress a total of maybe 3 times.. As a side note, we got to the restaurant at 6:30 and got out at 9:00 and we ate for maybe a total of 45-50 minutes, and the rest of the time was used WAITING for staff members to come out of hiding. We asked for beef, received pork; we asked to have that order corrected, we received lamb; we asked a different waiter to get us beef, and because the third time's a charm, he got it right.

The thing that was most disappointing is that my table had decided that we were not going to tip because the service was HORRIBLE (something that I have never done in my life, but I agreed). We received our bill, and the bills all had a "service charge" of 10% added onto the bill. When I asked her what that was for, she said "tip". Then I told her that they shouldn't do that because its up to the customer how much they would like to tip and that adding that service charge wasn't right. Instead of dealing with my question, she just inserted my Visa into the machine, handed it to me, and walked away (something we had gotten used to)....

I am not a very picky guy; even bad service at a restaurant is fine with me, I don't need to be treated like a king. But this experience was actually stressful, ridiculous, and borderline unacceptable. Had I not been there, and my friends told me the story of how it went, I probably would not have believed them. It was a CIRCUS...you had to be there to really get a feel for how terrible it was. You would think that a restaurant with dozens of tables with OPEN FIRE would really try hard to keep there customers happy so that the restaurant does not engulf into flames... I will absolutely never step foot back into that restaurant. And I recommend you find somewhere else to go yourselves.

Went there for dinner tonight. We are a family of four. Thought we'd have a great deal for AYCE on a couple of 2 for 1 coupons... We were wrong. The service was absolutely horrible. I had to ask 4 times for some hot sauce, the wait staff were rude and overworked and inexperienced. Service aside, the selection is laughably limited. Maybe 12 items on the ENTIRE menu. Oh, for dessert? 2 choices... Mango or green tea ice cream... Maybe a tablespoon at most when it comes. The grill started smoking really badly halfway through our meal and we asked for it to be replaced (3 times) ... Never happened. Expect a big surprise in the bill when you use the 2 for 1 coupons. First, you must pay cash. Secondly, they add tax on the full amount of the meal before discount. Lastly, they add gratuity on the amount before discount as well. This wouldn't have bothered me if the service was decent, but it wasn't. Never coming back and telling everyone to stay away from this place.

Worst Experience EVER.. I'm always up to trying new restaurants and I am typically a very very patient person. My experience here was absolutely terrible!!!!!!

We had a reservation for 730, and we showed up 5 minutes early to find a VERY crowded waiting area. Everyone was upset and complaining while the 2 front desk ladies were frantically trying to coordinate seats - it wasn't even busy they just couldn't get organized. We were told our table was being "cleaned". 45 minutes later we finally get our name called. Absolutely horrible service, I had to constantly remind them not to forget my name as other tables without reservations were being seated.

Our server did not even stop to acknowledge us for the next 15 minutes, we just sat there trying to get his attention without menus, beverages, utensils. There was a table next to us going through the same thing and they did the smart thing and just got up and left.

Our waiter was absolutely rude, and intentionally turns away from tables to get back and forth. We had to get up to stop him to ask him for a menu-which he tells us that there was none and that food would come soon. Mind you- they advertise late night specials (And they close at 1030 not 1 as advertised). ALSO NO SUSHI as aadvertised and included in the price. I asked about the sushi and was told maybe in a month or so- but we have to pay the same price. He even told us to go to the other side and eat at Wasabi if we wanted sushi.

Service was slow, we did not get everything we ordered. We even had to ask 3 times for our grill to be turned on. Oh and they come by tables to water down your grill with these PLANT WATERING CANS while your food is cooking..sanitary much? At the end of the dinner we were just disappointed and wanted to leave - only to find out they had no mango icecream left. Also for our party of 6 they add a 10% service charge so don't bother tipping extra. They rush you out so they can clean up, and there were garbage bags and trays of dirty plates all over the place - on empty tables, on the floor in the hallways etc. Never going back again...

I would take my business elsewhere, we wished we just went to Arirang or Korean Grill House downtown.

Worst place to go for kbbq, worst customer service. I was pretty happy when Chako opened up in Mississauga, but that quickly went away. My friends and I decided to go for a late dinner and on their website it says they're open till 1am. We get there and it's closed, the same time Wasabi closes which was at around 10:30 or so. False advertising. Another false advertising is their name says "sushi", in order to have sushi you have to go to wasabi to get them, they don't serve sushi in Chako. The next time we went for a second try, we got seated near the exit door and it was freezing cold! and the server brings 3 glasses of water, the water looked foggy, the glass had fingerprints and dried up water marks all over the lip of the glass. I kindly ask for them to be changed and she changed only 2 out of the 3 glasses. So we decided to just buy soft drinks and we ordered 2 diet coke and 1 nestea, and she brought 2 nestea and one diet coke. We just accepted it and said it was no big deal. They gave us a paper to write down our order and it took so long for them to get our orders in, we literally had to stop a waitress passing by and no one acknowledged my hand was up. Our order came to the table, and we started eating. We requested that are drinks be refilled and they did not come back after 2-3 requests. After eating we wanted another piece of paper to put our orders in and there was no waitress to be found for HALF AN HOUR! We got to the resto at 7pm and now it's 9pm and we only got one order in. So finally we get the second order in and we asked that our grill to be changed because it was getting too burnt and black and the waiter said they ran out of grills. HOW CAN YOU RAN OUT OF GRILLS? So we asked for our last soda refill, and the lady shattered the glass all over the table and grill. We asked for the bill and asked to pay with Mastercard, and the Waiter came up with the excuse that " do you have cash or debit? it's raining outside and the signals may not work" we already know why he's saying that... so the Merchants wont get charged a high percentage fee vs paying cash or debit. So we insisted that we pay credit card, and the signals didn't go down.THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO HAVE KBBQ

Not Worth It!. We decided to visit this place since we had a two-for-one coupon. We walked in on a Friday night and had to wait about ten minutes to get a table. After ten minutes, we were called to our table. We sat down and the woman came to our table and told us that she would bring everything to our table. We didn't know what 'everything' was, so she brought all of the items without us even knowing. Also, she didn't introduce herself or the concept of how the ordering system worked. She came back with a ton of food that we had to cook on the grill. The grill was dirty, smokey, and smelly. We had to ask one of the servers to change it and get a new one for us. I wanted to get water and I had to wave the server down three times to finally get them to notice me. I didn't get water for 15 minutes, I had to do this twice. We then decided to order more food, but this time we had to use the paper to write down what we wanted. We wrote down what we wanted, but we only got a quarter of it. We told the server about this, but she didn't do anything about it. About halfway through our meal, we felt the air conditioner come on, it was a freezer in there! When we finally had enough and just wanted to pay and get out of there, we received our bill. It came out to $34 with the two-for-one coupon. Also, the tip was automatically included, $5 for two people, what a waste! Also, we calculated that they added tax for two people, which should have been tax for only one person. This place was absolutely horrible. The service was bad, the food was not up to par, and the price was a ripoff. Will never return!

I don't even know where to start... I usually go to Richmond Hill/Markham to get my Korean BBQ fix but after hearing that Chako opened up down the street from me, I had to give it a try! I went on a Monday during their dinner hour. It's $22.99 ($25 including 'service charge') Before visiting, I checked out their website to see if they offered anything else on their menu.. and they had sushi! But sadly they don't have it at this location. We were told if we wanted sushi we would have to walk down the hall to Wasabi and eat there. Yes, Chako and Wasabi are linked together in one building. Upon arrival, we had to walk up to the front desk and ask for a table for 2. The hostess weren't very welcoming and we had to wait 10 minutes til we got a seat and it wasn't very busy at all. Once we got to our table, no one acknowledged that we were there and weren't give any menus. They did have a check off list of what you wanted but I was expecting someone to come to our table and give us some sort of grand opening welcome and tell us a little bit about their stuff and how to go about ordering. Once we completed our check off sheet we were told that everything on the check off list would be brought to our table and we would have to tell them which plates we didn't want and they would bring it back.. (which I thought was pretty inconvenient for the both of us - and defeat the purpose of having a self check off list). Overall I was pretty disappointed. The food was mediocre. I would rather make a 40 minute drive to fix my bbq fix.
