Review Royal Jasmine - Mississauga

Sulaiman Safdar
Halal restaurant. I've been to many Hakma restaurants but this experiences stands separate from all other experiences. Generally when you eat Hakka, the mouth turns dry as a bone for days because of all the MSG the restaurants put in - but in case of Royal Jasmine, that was not the case. Also, the quality and standard of meat was top notch. Some of the items I highly recommend are: House Tiger Shrimp, Fish Chilly Gravy and Manchurian.

Went for lunch today. Ordered Hot and Sour soup, Fish Pakora, chicken Manchurian and Hakka vegetable noodle. Soup and Fish Pakora was very good, noodle good and Manchurian not good at all. Manchurian doesn’t look and taste like one. Service was good and place looks clean. Credit card not accepted, which is surprising. Cost is on higher side. Paid $70 for the items mentioned above. No drinks ordered.

I came here after several years. They have changed how they take orders. You need to scan QR to read menu and then write you order on a card they provide you. Taste was good, we did not have to wait much to be served food. I liked the Paneer Sizzler. All ingredients were fresh.

The hakka food was decent, except that they put in too much salt in one of the dishes. I liked the chicken drumsticks and the soup which were the best part of the cuisine. The quantity is pretty good and wholesome. They would actually give you a pen and a paper to write down your order and then give it to them. Not the usual way of order taking. So, you need to decide the appetizers and entree items together and jot it down. This protocol might be due to Covid. Also, they do not accept credit cards which was a minor incovenience to us. Also, they deducted 15% of gratuity from our bill even though there were just 5 of us. Otherwise, it is quite a welcoming environment. P.S. Enjoy the pics 🙂

One of my friends recommended the place so we ventured on Friday Jan 28. We placed the order for pick up. On reaching the place, we learnt that they don’t accept credit cards And only local Canadian Debit cards which was very absurd. I asked them about nearby ATM and they had no clues. So did a Google search and drive about 3 km to withdraw cash. After 20 mins, came back to fetch the order, the order was all spread out of the plastic and seeing me back in the restaurant they weren’t too happy probably for reasons best known to them, although I do have a clue!! They hurriedly gathered all the boxes back to kitchen and after 4-5 mins a guy came back with boxes. On reaching home, we didn’t even reheat the food as it was quite late in midst of back and forth and started with the meal. In all honesty the food was good although I had no hopes after receiving a pathetic service at the hands of the front desk. The Hakka noodles were very nice. So was the garlic and chilli chicken. The fried rice were a bit dry but edible. The main issue was the veg manchurian which was over done and very dry. It came as a shock and couldn’t be eaten as it was way too dry even for a snack. I would like to give them a 3,5 ⭐️ for the overall experience. This would have been atleast a 4,5 incase this wouldn’t have been an ordeal for me. I will recommend them but in the same token would expect them to change their payment modes/methods.

This is our go-to place for Hakka as their food taste is the closest to Hakka Chinese food we had in Mumbai. Today we ordered for Spicy American Choupsey and the spice levels were just as we had directed our server. Absolutely recommend this place for Indian Chinese food, excellent quality and even better taste!

One of the best Hakka Chinese options in town. Having it for almost three years now. For starters the favorites are hot and sour soup and chicken pakoras. The soup is highly tasteful with an assortment of condiments including egg, veggies, chicken, and shrimps. Chicken pakoras are like regular, boneless fried chicken but coated with pakora batter as opposed to regular fried chicken coating. For mains my favorites are the Korean Bulgogi beef sizzler and Szechuan fish, with egg fried rice. Aromatic, succulent, great spices, great flavor. Always a safe choice to have our meals here.

Amazing food but only for the people who eat spicy. It was very busy but the service was great. Everyone was super helpful and helped us order the right amount. The portion sizes are large, so order accordingly.

I’ll start with the ambiance - it’s most impressive. The food, the service, everything is top notch. Especially recommend the chicken with black bean sauce.

Totally disappointing!
Royal Jasmine not at all Royal👎🏻
First disappointment is that they don’t book a table online or on phone and when we reached there there was so much rush and everyone was standing and waiting for their number to come.
Gosh, we waited in that chaos for about 45 minutes and in result what we get is some NOT SO TASTY CHINESE👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
And the last but not the least and very important thing is that they have a Machine but they don’t except Credit Card🧐😳😡

2019/02/09
We were in Mississauga at dinner time, and we were thinking about either Chinese or Indian cuisine, so Hakka seemed to be a logical choice, and Royal Jasmine was on the way. We were a bit surprised how big the restaurant was, with seating for at least 100, combined in three separate sections at the front, along the side, and in the back. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived.

When looking over the menu, we noticed a variety of Asian dishes as well as Indian. For our first dish we picked Bulgogi Beef ($14.99). The beef was stir fried in a garlic teriyaki sauce, giving it a bit of sweetness. The zucchini, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms gave the dish a variety of textures.

Our second dish was Chicken Butter Masala ($14.99). Lots of diced chicken and lots of savoury tomato butter sauce. SWMBO would have preferred larger chunks of chicken, but it was really tasty.

Both dishes each came with a bowl of Jasmine Rice, which made the price not seem as high.

Service was pleasant and polite.
Royal Jasmine provides the proper Indian spice Hakka Noodles taste. I have been here quite a few times and was always left satisfied with their quantity, quality and value for money. Definitely try it out.

P.S. their Crispy Beef is on point.

They used to serve good food. But l visited them on last Saturday 23rd Dec 17. we had dine in also ordered for take out (Royal house fixed fried rice and Kungpao chicken ). We are strictly non beef eaters and we specifically mentioned that while ordering for the take out "That we don't want any beef". But today when in dinner we tried that it had beef in it. In my life i never had beef because it's against our religion but they made us eat beef today. it was so much disturbing for us. we are going to complain the same to the restaurant and might not visit there place any more. Wish I could give them a 0 star.

The chicken corn soup is not bad. The portions are perfect.

General Taos Chicken:
I've never had general taos chicken like that. I don't necessarily mean it in a bad way, there was just a alot of gravy in it. It just looked very different, it was sweet and flavourful. - the only thing I enjoyed.

Chicken egg Rice:
like any other chicken egg rice

Beef Manchurion:
That was such a dissappintment, it comes with a thick gravy, the texture of the beef was slimy and chewy. It was hard to eat (unless you don't mind that texture)

Lassi (regular & mango ) was very good!. Q

Worst customer service ever. Love the food here but I walk in for the 9.99 special. Ends at 9pm I arrive at 845pm the nice lady at the bar takes my order and tells me the price i pull out my money. Then I guess the manager she comes over tells off the girl for giving me the deal. (Very unprofessional ) and says I can't have the deal because she has a busy kitchen and a big party in the back.. and I would have to wait along time for the deal 30 mins or more. Or pay full price and get it quickly. Wherever I walked out so rude....

I always love this place. Good ambiance.. good food... quick service... friendly staff.. Perfect destination for your Indian Chinese craving. Any dish with Schejwan sauce is too much spicy too eat. So remember to tell them spice level.

Horrible experience and customer service. Royal Jasmine used to be my favourite restaurant and I would always make an effort to visit it everytime I am in the GTA, however my family and I will not be returning. We had to wait over a half hour just to be told that we required a number to be seated. The staff had not informed us that that was a procedure. A sign simply said to wait to be seated and I have come here many times in the past and never had to obtain a number. After we were finally seated (about an hour later), we were told that the family special advertised online was no longer available. We had pointed out that the website clearly indicated it and the staff brushed it off and said the website was not updated. We had then asked to speak to a manager and were ignored multiple times and then finally someone showed up and said that she will 'see what she can do'. They just offered us complimentary dessert after all the hassle and wait. Really upset about how we were treated and on top of that they still haven't updated their website! Will not be returning.

Good place. Tasty dishes. Quick delivery. I like the ambience too. I did a take out next time need to dine in there to understand the place better.

Very bad customer service. Food is OK but the qty is less as compared to its neighbors in the area.. There was a problem with my food last week and I asked for the manager and the manager said he is too busy to talk to us.. Only wen we said, we will not pay the bill till he comes, he showed up as we were 6 people.. Then he said I am very busy so lets talk fast.. He was not ready to listen to what we had to say, rather kept on looking around and talking to servers.. The server was so rude that she threw the bill book on ur table and it hit a glass which was about to fall on one of the guests.. Never going back there again and anyone else too from our work because it was someone's farewell party.. Stay away if you want to get some respect.. They are too busy and so rude that your whole day will be spoilt.. They should really learn how to treat customers and accept their mistake if they screw up... We ended up paying for something which we did not eat and they said if you have any problem go and write online as we dont have time to talk now....

To be honest, I don't think I have anything really negative to say about this restaurant. We visited for lunch on a Sunday, and were the first people in the restaurant. As a party of seven, we were seated at an assembled table right by the bar near the front of the restaurant. From what I can recall, we ordered the Manchurian Chicken, Chili Chicken (dry), mixed vegetables, butter chicken, and chicken chow mein - looking back, yes that was a lot of chicken - and it was all rather delicious.

My review. The food is so bad !!! Worst experience and a waste of money !!! The quality of chicken is so bad . the chicken has so much fat and skin coming in mouth .yuckkkkkkkkkkk. :(

Don't try the Thai Food. We ordered the Red Thai Chicken Curry and it was a letdown. No Thai flavour, too big pieces of bland chicken, mixture of green peppers and okra, very unauthentic.

Stick to the Chinese food, you can't go wrong with their Chilli Chicken.

Friendly staff and quick service as well as reasonable lunch prices are their strong pointsw.

Good food, great prices. My family has eaten in and have had take out and our experience has always been positive.

the menu is HUGE! hard to make a decision sometimes, but honestly, it's fantastic.

the prices are great and there is always a special that works too if you have a larger party with you.

don't let the negative reviews fool you, give it a try.

My favourite Restaurant for this kind of Hakka Indian. I love this place and always bring my kids and relatives here
Unlike on of the other reviews i read here, they always fill up our glass
the atmosphere's nice- so are the waiters
my personal favourite is he brocolli beef and i think it's flavoured nicely- a lot of beef and veggies
and also with the other food we order- they're really generous
the chicken corn soup is a favourite among the kids as well!

Good value for money. Large restaurant, friendly staff, good ambience, extensive menu and value for money pricing, but food is passable. owner belongs to the same family that owns eddie's wok and roll and asian wok and roll, but i would rate their food tastier and better.

maybe this is my personal opinion, but i am very choosy about my food and see subtle differences that others dont. the food is presently halal, but only because they dont have a liquor license as yet. this seems to be a marketing ploy to add USP only. once they start serving liquor, how can it be halal?

the servings are large, but we were not too enamoured with the food. good for one visit, but if they want my repeat business, they will have to improve the quality and taste.

I can't say much about the Indian food in the gta seeing as this is my first time trying. But, this place is very tasty and a lot of pleasant smells in the air. The staff is constantly running around and making sure everyone is ok. So you have to wait a bit for food (waited 10 min for spring rolls). It's a sit down place not a fast food reataurant. I'd say worth going

Awesome. Well if you people only prefer to eat north Americanized non spicy bland Chinese Cantonese food and this is the furthest you are willing to venture to try new stuff then you are wasting your time here..............you and your money is better spent going to any mainstream Chinese restaurants in the GTA .
But if you are like me who loves to gorge on spicy Chinese Hakka Indian fusion food and know what this food is all about you will absolutely love this place.
My all time favourite is the house style thai chilly chicken dry, best soft noodles stir fry in town where you get the actual smoky flavour from the wok and the spicy sweet sour manchurian chicken combined is absolute nirvana.
Prices are reasonable,a very clean and tidy establishment the service staff is extremely polite and courteous they address everyone as "Sir" and "Maa'm" feels like you are being addressed in an English fine dining restaurant only without the price tag.

Nice place. We have been visiting Royal Jasmine regularly for nearly a year now, it is our favourite chinese hakka restaurant in the GTA .
The reason is simply due to the fact that here most of their dishes ( not all! ) are the best tasting one"s all under one roof their menu is very extensive with a wide range of choices.Prices are extremely reasonable and service staff is simply the friendliest and best among any hakka restaurant around.
Thai chilly chicken, Hakka chowmein, spicy tiger prawns, lollipop chicken, All the soups (except wonton), chilly and manchurian dishes, S\S manchurian prawns, and Fried rice tops as our favourite. This is the one place where all of my family members can agree on dining as each one has their own favourite dish.
The best testimonial to Royal Jasmine is the crowd and line ups you see on weekends and holidays as to why people flock to this place, must be something nice......

Very very poor service! After they sat us down, we had to wait approximately 20 minutes to be served. They were not that busy, yet they kept us waiting for so long. Other people that came in after us were being served before us. I had to speak loudly for someone to hear me say "How long do we have to wait to be served?!" until one of the server's finally said I'll be right with you. We ordered: Chicken and sweet corn soup (which had way too much msg) Shrimp Pad Thai (it was so dry we had to ask them to remake it or take it off our bill. They made a nee one which was still dry) Egg fried rice (not that great) Fish with black bean sauce (good but a little salty) Chili chicken-dry (at first they gave us the wrong one so we had to wait another 10 minutes for the right one. This was probably the best one we ordered) Lastly, we had to constantly call the server to fill our glasses with water. Basically, if you're okay with inexpensive and not-so authentic Asian-Indian food with very poor service then you'll be satisfied. If you prefer good service with decent food you're better off elsewhere.

It was ok. Just ok. Nothing more nothing less. Uninspired food. Had better. Bombay Chopstix is much better.

I'm sure there are better options nearby. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive place to fill up on "Asian" food and don't care about service, then you'll probably be OK here. But if you are looking for something truly authentic and expect the server to re-fill your water glass, look elsewhere.

I went to this restaruant becuase their advertisement at my hotel said they served "authentic Thai and Indian Hakka cuisine." Though I am neither Thai nor Indian, I have eaten enough to know that this food was not terribly authentic.

I ordered one of their specials that included soup, entree, fried spring rolls, and rice.

I was served a thick, barely warm, gloppy sweet and sour soup, the same kind served in inexpensive Chinese restaurants all across the US. The egg rolls weren't interesting - though cooked well, they were basically flavorless. My Chicken Masala was a large pool of "Masala" sauce with a few chunks of chicken - at least the chicken wasn't dried out - and was served with a mound of rice. Unfortunately the amount of rice they provided was not nearly enough for the excessive sauce.

Service was non-existent. After my meal was delivered, I did not see my server until I had been sitting at my table for 5 minutes with an empty plate (except for the masala sauce), empty water glass and empty Mango Lasshi glass (the Lasshi was good). Not once did anyone bother to re-fresh my glass or see if everything was OK.

I will give them this - the place was busy. I'll never eat there again, but that won't hurt them at all.
Spicy Paprika
Food was very average. We ordered a vegetarian corn soup and were served the chicken. Had to send it back! The veggie soup that showed up was too salty. The Manchurian noodles were average, but the Thai style pakoras were awful. We won't be visiting it again!

A must go. Good food, very reasonable prices, great service, must go try it once!
