Review Man Doo Hyang - Mississauga

William Yan
I came here on a Monday evening with a couple of my friends for dinner. It was our first time trying out this Korean restaurant here in Mississauga. This place was relatively empty when we came so we were seated fairly quickly. We had ordered the following: Soft tofu (SoonDuBu JjiGae) My friend ordered this soft tofu stewed in hot spicy broth. She said that this was good and what you would typically expect from a Korean cuisine. Pork Bone Soup (Gam Ja Tang) My friend ordered this pork bone soup with potatoes and vegetables. He said that the pork was tender and amazing. There was a lot of spice added to the soup so it added a kick to every bite 🌶. Spicy Bulgogi Dolsit (Bibimbap) This bibimbap came with assorted vegetables with beef and egg on rice in a hot stone bowl. I ordered this and was surprised that it was cheaper than most Korean restaurants. The portion size was big enough to fill your appetite and that also applied to the other dishes mentioned above. I would give this a worth it 👍. Side Dishes It comes with side dishes (banchan) that include bean sprouts, kimchi, seaweed salad and braised potatoes. Despite the limited options, these 4 side dishes can be refillable so feel free to eat as much as your heart's content. Overall, the staff and service were relatively friendly and okay. I had only seen one staff working at that time. They have a bunch of menu items from appetizers to hot pot. Some of these portions can be quite big so feel free to share with others 🙂.
Magnificent
Food here is amazing! Especially the Seafood pancake, I tried it in a lot of places but this place made it the best! BiBimbap, pork bone soup, pan fry chicken are all delicious! Service is excellent! Highly recommend this place. ☺️

I have been to this place twice this past week and the food is overall ok. I so far have tried - Soon du bu ji gae (seafood) : it was great - Haemul Jampong : it was amazing. - Kam ja tang : I only tried a few of the pork bones which tasted good if that piece is meaty. But the one we had was not so meaty and mostly bone. But I still think its a good, tasty dish. - Dumplings : each piece is huge!! And it tasted ok. I have only seen 1 staff working and he was friendly. No complaint. The only one downside for me so far is that there are a lot of other dishes I wanted to order but I couldn't because the portion is too big to be eaten by 1 person (for sharing only) and they cannot do it in smaller portion for you.

This Korean restaurant is very authentic and true to Korean food. The soups are fantastic and the dumplings as massive and all home made. If you come here I recommend any of the three below. The time to make is a bit lengthy, but completely worth the wait. Also when you go into any restaurant and the majority of eaters are from the same background and the restaurant, you know it will be great ;)

Went there instead of Kobi to give it a shot Got the table top pork belly for 2 And it was delish!! This is the 2nd time we went there and got the same thing except for the soup 1st time got the soybean soup and 2nd time got the kimchee soup Personally I like both but slightly favor the kimchi soup This is the only kbbq that serves sliced jalapeños which is a good extra heat for me The only reason it's not a 5 star is the side dishes lack. Would like to get pickled cucumbers, sweet potatoes and white radish Good value and good atmosphere as its a father son run business If I can add a 0.5 star it would be that they play netflix korean shows with English subtitles P.S. U know the place is legit when you get Koreans that go there and non Koreans. It's like half half

Food is awesome! Ordered lamb hotpot and asked for fried rice after it’s done. Deducted one star cuz service is slow

Probably one of the best Korean restaurant in Mississauga! We've been getting take out exclusively and every time we bring it home, it is still piping hot and so fresh. Their dumplings are so delicious, pork belly tofu stir fry is our go-to and their sweet and sour tangsuyook is so tasty! Definitely one of our favourite krn places :)

Very delicious food and very excellent server. Our 2 year old baby loves your food too. We will come back for the seaweed side dishes.

The service was horrible. The staff gave my mother and I dirty looks when we asked if we could sit at the traditional table instead of the ones in the dining area. We kept having to ask for water because they never came by, and when we did ask for it they never came. At times I wondered if they had forgotten we were there even though there were barely any people when I went. The food was OK. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. Its dirty, its smells and the men's bathroom door is kept wide open, in front of the urinal. So when your passing by you may see something. I will not be coming back.

The service was bad , took forever to take my Order, all the food tastes the same because over spiced .portions very small for the money they charge.I asked for more Kim chi and she says but your almost finished.

Horrible experience. I came here based on a recommendation from a friend, so I decided to come here with a group of friends. We sat down and ordered. Waited for an hour; no one came to provide us with the side dishes. The table beside us, whom came later and ordered later, got their side dishes before us. Once we finished, we rang several times for the server to provide us with the bill. They came a few times, but never provided us with the bill. After waiting for at least half an hour, we were fed up and walked towards the counter to pay. The lady was unapologetic; rather she was rude and grumbling at us. Never have I been this dissatisfied with customer service. While the dishes that we ordered were all right, the service was dismal and disappointing. Will not come back a second time.

I had the Korean handmade noodle spicy seafood soup and it was delicious. Very savoury broth with mussel, shrimps, cuttlefish, cabbage. Very satisfying and copious.

The place was on the quiet side when we arrived, but then again, we arrived before peak dinner hours.

After giving the menu a thorough read-through, we called the waitress over. We were then shortly served three kimchi-based side dishes that ranged in levels of spiciness. Our meals followed up pretty quickly.

My friend had ordered a kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), while I had ordered a seafood noodle bowl in soybean paste soup. As there had not been a red pepper icon (aka the "spicy warning") inserted beside the item description in the menu, I had assumed that the dish wasn't going to be spicy.

But one look at the red pepper flakes floating atop the broth and I knew I had made a mistake. Meticulously picking up an onion near the surface had proved that.

LOVE this place! Their soondaegukbab is great and worth the price. Just one other dish I've had had chewy meat that I did not enjoy... Overall, costs are reasonable and fast service. Would definitely return!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and experience here at Man Doo Huang today! The four of us ordered a spicy seafood noodle, a handmade noodle in need broth with dumplings, and two orders of beef broth soup with ox tendon. They were all utterly delicious! The seafood soup had a distinct, delicious taste to it (should be that they added squid when making the soup) and the ox tendon soup was thick and hearty, filled with tendons. The only complaint my mother and sister had about the dish was that it could've been improved with the addition of some meat. My beef noodles were hearty and filling - I couldn't even finish the whole bowl! The dumplings were HUGE, filled with pork and the spices of kimchi. We found the service fantastic as well. Will definitely return!

One of the top rated #Korean restaurants in #Mississauga is called Man Doo Hyang . As always with Korean restaurants let's start with the ban chan. Not too many here, the standard kimchi which was a bit sweet, the kimchi radish which was very sour and the sliced radish radish, the least strong, but also my favourite. Standard Korean food includes pork bone soup ($8.99). As always this dish is very difficult to share and in this case I didn't even get a chance to try it. It looks pretty good don't it? Korean style handmade noodles with black bean sauce ($7.99) is one of Kitty's favourite dishes. Usually this one has the strongest, heaviest flavours, but surprisingly their version was a bit bland. Weird. This is the roasted mackerel ($4.50) which both looked and tasted great. A bit smokey, a bit fishy and bit fatty, overall a great combination of flavours. These are Handmade Noodles in Beef Broth ($7.99) which sounds boring and simple on the menu but turned out to be the best tasting dish of the night. The noodles had perfect texture to them, but the highlight was the broth. The broth had a lot of seaweed flavour to it which probably means it was full of umami flavour. It was stronger than the beef flavour, but it tasted really amazing. Yum! Korean pancake with seafood and green onion ($15.99). We ordered two and they were surprisingly quite different. One of them was cooked longer and therefore crispier and less doughy which made it taste way better. Interesting that there is so much variability in this fairly simple dish. Deep fried pork cutlet ($10.99) was good because of the crunchy, plentiful and tasty breading. One of my personal favourite dishes. To fill us up is the dolsot bibimbap. Always a crowd-pleaser this one was excellent. Overall I liked almost all their dishes, so I can see why this restaurant is well liked. I would definitely go if I'm in the area and wanting Korean food.

Authentic Korean Place!. We had come here on a Sunday evening for dinner with a group of friends. When we walked-in, we noticed that were was seating with tables and chairs on one side, while on the other side, there was an area with floor seating. We had never seen that in a restaurant before therefore, we were quite surprised to see that upon our arrival. We were shown to a table on the left-side of the restaurant, which had a button on the table which we were able to press if we needed any assistance. When we sat down, we were given menus, which were nicely decorated in silver wrapping. The menu was quite large, with a lot of menu items written down inside. It was great that some of the items had pictures as we weren't sure what they were since we weren't able to read in Korean (some were not written in English). I settled on the Fried Pork Katsu, which came with a side order of coleslaw with dressing, along with a large scoop of rice. We then all provided our menu items to the waitress, who then took away our menus after we had ordered.

After about one minute, the various Kimchi dishes were brought out for our enjoyment. There were about three different dishes, which tasted quite delicious. However, the chopsticks were quite slippery, making it difficult to pick up the food items well without them dropping. After we had finished the various Kimchi dishes, the items that we had ordered began coming out. The Fried Pork Katsu was quite large, with it already having been sliced up when it was presented to me. It also had some sort of dark sauce sprinkled on it, which made it taste rather delicious. I enjoyed my dish, along with the other dishes which were brought to the table. The other dishes included soup with noodles, beef, and vegetables, with the large bowls being placed on the burner to keep it hot. We found the food to be quite appetizing, with it tasting authentically Korean, as we would have expected coming into this restaurant.

After we had finished our meal, we had asked for the bill, which came out to about $82 for the six of us. We were actually overcharged when we had ordered additional noodles for one of the soup dishes however, it was quickly taken-off once the server had realized the mistake. We found the service to be quite prompt, with someone rushing to our side as soon as the button was pressed. However, we didn't find the servers to be very friendly, only doing the bare minimum as required. All in all, we found the food at this place to be quite food, with everything tasting fresh, with large portions provided for the prices that were paid. The service was adequate however, nothing to rave about. The restaurant itself seemed quite small however, we were comfortable, which was the most important thing. If we feel like having authentic Korean food in the future, we will surely consider this place!

Not Sure What the Big Deal Is.. So after reading the great reviews of this place, I thought I would give it a go. When I got there, I remembered that I was there about 8 years ago and wasn't all that impressed. I was happy to give it another try, as my tastebuds and appreciation for Korean food may have changed since then. Nope. The food here was mediocre at best. Let us start at the start. The complementary appetizers were skimpy. Three little dishes of Kim Chi, Pickled Turnip, and Marinated Turnip. All cut too large. Every other Korean restaurant I have been to serve at least 5 or 6 different items. For our mains, we ordered the Seafood and Scallion Pancake, Beef with Glass Noodles, and the Spicy Kim Chi Pork Bone Stew. The Pancake was the best tasting out of the three items. Having said that, the texture was a bit too soft, barely cooked on the inside. It would have been better if it was fried just a bit longer to add a little bit of texture on the outside. And for the price, it was over the top expensive at over $15.00! The Glass Noodles were ho-hum at best. We expected much more for the price of just under $14.00. The most disappointing dish was the Pork Bone Stew. Generally, Pork Bone Stew comes in tact on the bone. Their version comes with very little (and I do mean very little) shredded meat off the bone. We actually had to dig around to find little tiny shreds. Terrible for $8.95. So overall, this place does not deserve the ratings that it has been given here. It is extremely expensive for what you are getting. These items with one beer and a soft drink set us back $57.00 tax and tip included. The service was adequate and authentic, but it took us about 15 minutes to be able to wave someone down to get our bill. I have had much better Korean food in Mississauga. I recommend taking a pass.

Real Samgyeopsal!. The food here is great! Each time I’ve gone it has tasted how it should.

We needed a whole lot of food to fill us up for this night. Luckily I can read Korean and found the Kimchi three layered pork combo (김치 삼겹살 콤보). It’s in the back of the menu in the combo section, and only in Korean. The combo includes a main dish and 1 bottle of soju or 5 bottles of beer for about $25-$30. The kimchi samgyeopsal would be good for 2-3 people but because we were so hungry we ordered the kimchi stew for $7. We had a lot of kimchi on the table.

It’s decorated with some paintings, flowers, and large bottles of rice wine (Makgeolli). More than anything, the bottles of rice wine really make me feel like I’m in the country side. They are ridiculously large, and remind me of the amount of alcohol the country people drink.

Honestly the food is not bad, ordered spicy beef soup and it's okay. -- having said that there are tons of Korean restaurants in Toronto ace their spicy beef soup. The service here is unbearable. We literally needed to chase the waiter to order food or get the bill. It was after 8:00pm and the restaurant is not even full. I can't imagine how it'd be like at its peak hour. And it's my very first time when a waiter came give me a beer (bottle) without even opening it (nor with a glass). (Was told they are out of "cups"). The side dishes offered are not as many as many other Korean restaurants I've been to and they also are just mediocre. I'm really surprised it's highly praised in Missisauga.

Above average food, bad un friendly services, and sorry to say this... The one of the worst resturant I have been so far this month. :( hope was just because a full mood day to the staff. Be aware of MSG

Really Good Korean Food. Great authentic Korean food. Their pork bone soup is arguably the best in the area. If you have the chance, try eating in the heated floor section, only place I've been to that has it.

Got to be my new favorite Korean restaurant. Was going to go for Pho, but the place was closed. The Bi Bim Bap is very good. As the only caucausian I knew I was in for a treat. They make all their own side dishes as well. It seems they also are making rice wine as well. Feels very Korean!!!

Awesome. In the middle of the restaurant is an elevated, heated floor where you remove your shoes before entering for an authentic Korean experience that is hard to find in Mississauga. Our server was very polite, and even cooked our meat in front of us (in quick time too!) However I thought the food was nothing out of the ordinary (probably because I'm Korean and I eat this all the time at home) I'd highly recommend this place to someone who is very interested in Korean culture.

This is the only place in the GTA where I have had real mandu. It seems freshly made an steamed. They have kimchi mandu too! I've had better side dishes and main courses, but for anything mandu based, this is the only place I go.

Love their big pork bone soup. My wife and I like it here. The big pot of pork bone soup always hits the spot and is enough for 3 people. They have a special where you get the pork bone soup, noodles w/ black bean sauce and 4 or 5 beers for $30. It's a bargain! Unfortunately, it's only in Chinese & Korean in the menu so you need to know how to read these languages or know about this special.

Side Dish - Less. I love their main food.

My only complaint is the side dish. I am always fascinated with Korean Side dishes and the variety of it.

But this restaurant only gives 2 side dishes, and it doesn't taste good..

However, I like their main dish. Try those beef /pork soup.

Food was ok, but service was terrible. Only 3 people serving a full restaurant. Had to literally walk in to the hall and track them down. The "korean bell" was also a useless decoration.

An Awesome Mistake!. I sorta discovered this place by accident. I was at Agami Sushi (same plaza), but I noticed that this place was always busy and full of Korean people - a good sign of authenticity! I assumed it was a restaurant, but aside from the name, there isn't any English on the signage.

I've been a handful of times, love Korean food, and I've *never* been disappointed by my meals there. On my last visit, I ordered the handmade noodles + dumplings in beef broth, seen in pic #3. It was very hearty, homey, and the prices are extremely reasonable!

To start off all the goodness, Korean side dishes are served, including: kim chi, spicy radish (same spices as kim chi), & pickled, julienned daikon.

If you like Korean food or want to spice up your palate, check this place out!

Could be the best Korean restaurant in Mississauga. Not the greatest location I stumbled upon this place by accident. Majority of patrons are Korean and for good reason. The food is excellent.

With locations in Mississauga and North York, Mandoohyang has always been a dinner staple for us with their well known dumplings, galbitang (beef short rib soup), and other Korean dishes. Photo from Yelp We’ve been to the Mandoohyang in Mississauga many times in the past with great food and service that kept us returning but have noticed a few changes recentl - a bit of a let down for us. On a busy night, they are either understaffed or not very attentive. You might have remembered that I previously raved about another Korean restaurant in Ontario. Man Doo Hyang is somehow of a different calibre to that one. Man Doo Hyang is more of a family oriented restaurant. When we were having dinner in the early after

I found the broth to be a bit too salty but if you eat it with the rice it wasn't so bad. The gamjatang comes with the regular white rice. You can ask for the spiciness of the soup to be adjusted to your liking as well.

The Galbitang 갈비탕 (beef short ribs soup) has always been a staple entrée for us with its simplistic broth, meat bursting with flavour with a side of healthy rice cooked with chestnuts, beans and yam. The healthy rice did not come with the galbitang this time and based on the menu, it appears you have to pay more for that. In our visits before, it was part of the entrée.

The Grilled Mackerel was quite tasty and probably the best part of the meal. It was cooked well and favourful with the seasoning. There's nothing like a deliciously grilled fish to have with rice! Maybe that's the Asian genes in us talking.

The Spicy Pork Belly BBQ is prepared at your table on a stone plate so it can be cooked right in front of you. Just be ware that with pork belly there might be a lot of oil splatters! The dish itself is enough for 2 people. The combination of pork and spicy kimchi radish is a delicious one as well!

With our most recent trip there being a letdown, we're not sure when our next visit will be but hopefully it will be a more enjoyable one!
