Review Lotus Island Vietnamese Eatery - Mississauga

This mom and pop serves authentic and traditionally prepared Vietnamese food. The special pho is very good with plenty of fixins. We tried several apps; spring rolls, chicken wings, and summer rolls, they were all good. The yellow Thai chicken curry was one of our favourites.

Like other reviewers said, its dated inside- but the owner actually explained why. (I didn't ask, I guess she felt self conscious). Apparently the city or building owner, not sure which one, is going to take the land back and will let her know in 6 months, so it doesn't make sense for her to renovate. Which is too bad, the food is really good, Especially the fried noodle nest I had (the house special with shrimp pork and chicken). The calamari was just ok, the seasoning on it was really tasty though. The fresh rolls are standard but wasn't crazy about the peanut sauce it came with, a little watery, so I used Hoisin Instead. Get there soon if you want to try the food here!

Decent food, a little pricey and decor can use a bit of an upgrade. Hard to miss restaurant as it is the one of the only shops open in the small plaza, so good news you will never have to worry. I got the Large Lotus Special Pho which portion wise was solid, but flavors were a bit on the salty side and just okay.

Think Part Unknown, Tony's favourite lunch spot in Vietnam good! Don't mind the older decor, the focus is on the food, spring rolls were crispy and fresh and the house special pho was suberb, get the large you won't regret It for under $10! Will be back for sure.

The food was soo good, however for the price I felt that the portion was a bit small for 2 people. I would go back. Chicken wings Crispy seafood chow mein Veggie spring roll

Very friendly and attentive service. The only thing better than the service is the delicious food! 10/10 I will be back!
Unmanagable
An underrated Pho place. Very tasty Pho broth. I usuall go for the Satay Pho. Perfect level of spice and flavour of meat.

We were looking for good pho and were not disappointed - the broth is flavourful and meat servings are quite generous. Fast and friendly service that makes you feel welcome is a bonus, and so is the price point. Would definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu.

We love this place. Best pho we've ever had. Very generous portions, incredible prices, and the staff are very accommodating! Always so friendly and always remember us, remember our regular order, ask about the kids etc etc. LOVE your satay beef pho and summer rolls!

We love eating here. So authentic and delicious! Their soups are phenomenal, and their pad Thai is a family favourite!

Food and service great, however they need renovations to enhance the experience.
The place was clean and we will most likely go back. The price is affordable.

Don't let appearances fool you. The owner is especially warm and friendly. The food service is FAST! Shrimp Summer Rolls have 3 medium shrimps each. Nice and meaty. Satay Beef Pho is perfectly spiced. No need to add anything but bean sprouts and basil. Crab Meat Soup isn't in the Pho section of the menu but features real crab. Great meal overall. Can't wait to go back and explore other sections of the menu.

Drove past this place for years and always meant to try it. I finally went and tried my usual combination to test the waters.
They offer true vietnamese style spring rolls which differ from the typical style most Thai/Chinese places carry (which also means they're made in-house and not frozen). They tend to have a crispier coating and a yellow tinge to them on the outside. They were excellent in my opinion.
Their fresh rolls, (I ordered the pork summer rolls) were the best I've ever tried. The attention to detail, with the fresh herbs inside and the flavour profile of the pork were a delicious combination.
Lastly, a generous serving of pork vermicelli was absolutely to die for. I haven't eaten all day and I still couldn't eat it all or pass up taking the rest home. The vermicelli noodles they use are finer than most places I've been to and I must say I'm a huge advocate of that, as thinner noodles allow for less starch and more flavour of whatever you incorporate into your bite, as well as, sauces or pastes. The pork itself was marinated beautifully before being quickly cooked with a nice sear to lock in the flavour. I also got to try the beef, which had a sweet undertone to it also quickly seared with the flavour reminding me of a Korean short rib marinade I sometimes make.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the service was above and beyond what I'm used to in this type of setting. I will definitely be going back in the near future as the value, taste and service made this a standout experience.

Delicious, large portions, great service, and inexpensive. ...... seriously, what more could you want?

I've had the opportunity to dine here many times, alone, with friends, with family .... and always a great experience. Service is super friendly, the food is fresh, delicious, inexpensive, and the portions are generous.

This was my first stop a few months ago returning from Vietnam because I managed to come home after 19 days still craving Vietnamese food. Literally we drove from the airport, after 20 hours of travel, straight to Lotus Island to have a bowl of pho before crashing into bed. After that trip, I can add the word "authentic" to the list of adjectives that describes the food serviced by Lotus Island. It's the real deal.

Loyal Customers Forever. We have been coming here loyally for the last year or so and have always left satisfied! I am a business owner in the area and have recommended this place to all my clients. I bring them there with me on a regular basis. The family that owns this place are extremely friendly, give the best service and always treat us like first class clients. The portions are huge, cheap and delicious. I particularly love their grilled meat items on rice with egg, their spring rolls and calamari. My friends and clients love their pho soups as well. If you are not full from their huge portions, try their shakes and desserts! Sooooo good! Wait til it gets a liquor permit, then perfection!

If I had to sum my overall experience at this restaurant into one sentence:

I bit into metal from a scouring pad/steel wool (yeah, the one you use for cleaning) - it was in my pho soup!! Gross!

I have been here several times before and I usually had good experiences. However tonight I had the worst experience I have ever had at a Vietnamese restaurant. This is BY FAR the WORST Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. Tonight I ordered a Well Done Flank Beef Rice Noodle Soup, P7 to be exact. I've attached a picture of what they call flank- mind you, I've always ordered flank beef soup before and I've never had so much fat or tendons before in my life. I barely received any beef in my bowl to begin with. From what beef I had, I'd say a good 90% of my meat looked like my picture. Oh, and by the way, that picture is of some fat I took out, AFTER I had just given a bowlful of fat to the manager/kitchen staff to look at when I complained to the waitress! Anyway they tried to say "oh you ordered P10 (or something, that has tendons)". I said no, "I ordered P7" which we all verified as per our written order. Then they tried to say that "oh you know our flank and tendons get mixed up together sometimes because we cook them together". Of course I retorted, "If I wanted tendons or whatever else I would've ordered it!" Needless to say, I told them I can get better beef at McDonalds. Hands down! They apologize, and I was already so hungry before I got there, so I just kept taking out the fat and tried to finish my soup. This actually gets worse! As I near the end of my soup, I bite on something weird...wiry! I spit it out and it's a piece of metal from a metal scouring pad!!! (I took a picture of this too!) SOOOOOO DISGUSTED by this restaurant and their service at this point! My boyfriend had already walked out before the bill came, because the manager apologized and said he'd take care of it. So he only takes off just the one item of soup from the bill. I call my boyfriend back in, because I am NOT paying for anything at this point. Anyway, after speaking with the manager for 15 minutes he says that bits of scouring pads in their food are out of his control (WTH???). My boyfriend ended up paying for the rest of the bill, but in my experience with other restaurant establishments our meal for the table should have been free. The 94% of people who liked this place- this place has really gone downhill!!

Fast, Friendly, reliable. I have eaten here about 10 times. I don't experiment much, usually spring rolls, grilled meat with vermicelli, pho in the winter. I used to live at Bloor & Spadina and so got hooked on it at the holes in the wall from Kensington on down. I have to say that these people are friendly with prompt service, the food is always fresh and much like what I used to get in Chinatown. I have no problem recommending Lotus Island. I would take friends there, we are going tomorrow!

Worst Vietnamese food. This is the worst Vietnamese food i have ever had. Their spring rolls were so disgusting the oil on the spring rolls was on the plate and it was black. Their Pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) was the worst i have ever had, it was honestly like eating bowling water with noodles and old beef. It had no flavor. Their stir frys taste like they put way too much MSG, i mean i understand some places put a little bit for flavor but this was really over doing it. Their food is so overly priced. So expensive for nothing. I don't recommend you bring your friends or family here.

Great Value. I've eaten here a number of times. I've loved everything we've ordered with the exception of a yellow curry (with bamboo shoots) which just didn't do it for me. Their portions are huge and the food is amazing and cheap. I would highly recommend trying this place. It's one of those hidden gems you find from time to time. I just hope it stays open.

Oh, and the staff are extremely friendly as well.

Wow factor!. I've been to alot of Vietnamese restaurants, but never was there anything like this one. Went there on Saturday and it was packed, although it take a bit longer for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. When the food came out, the portions are huge and it's very tasty! They're very generous on the meat. I found my new favorite place. Just loooooove it!
Mango Garden
True Northern Vietnamese flavour. I visited this restaurant in the fall when they first opened and tried several of their Northern VN dishes, especially the BunCha Hanoi. The food and flavor reminded me so much of the food I had in Vietnam. This is authentic Vietnamese food!

This place is an absolute gem! The food is delicious, servings generous and price is just right! The staff and owners really remember their regulars and make them feel welcome. You can preorder ur food and know that it will be ready to eat in case you have a short lunch. I've tried the spring rolls, pho, pork vermicelli and chicken chow mein. Try it you will absolutely love it!!! Also plenty of seating available which has been an issue with other eateries in the area.

A first time opinion. I visited this VERY NEW place last evening and found the servers very friendly. This was my FIRST experience with Vietnamese food so I can't give an overall opinion except to say the **V1 entry** was an experience for me to eat because I found myself NOT KNOWING HOW to eat it.
It's not that is wasn't good or filling near the end but I stugggled with so much Romaine lettuce and far too much leaves of mint which I discarded. It was a little too expensive for THAT PARTICULAR ENTRY. My friend had the (V8 entry) and said it was delicious.

I will be going back to this restaurant.
