FOOD:
We had come here on a Sunday evening at around 6:30 pm therefore, we were able to order from the dinner menu. We had first been asked if we had wanted our soup bases to be spicy or not; we had all chosen non-spicy. The soup base came quite quickly, within five minutes, along with small dishes of starters, such as lettuce, sweet buns, and some cold meat. Our server had turned-on our burners for us in order for them to warm-up before the food arrived. We each had a bowl, spoon, flat dish, chopsticks, a glass, and napkins at our place-setting. I liked how they placed a large jug of water on the table for us, instead of us having to ask for refills once our glasses were empty.
There was quite a good selection in terms of the food however, we had mostly ordered the meat and fish dishes; beef, fish, shrimp, and pork balls, beef and lamb slices, shrimp, beef tripe, and chicken. We also settled on tofu, mushrooms (whole and sliced), tong ho, wontons, and dumplings. All of the food was very well-prepared, fresh, and tasty; we were quite pleased with the way the food items tasted, which was a plus. We also liked how the menu system was divided into rounds, with each round usually coming all at once (there were three rounds in total). The station for mixing the sauces was located near our table therefore, it was easy for us to access it when needed, with many options available for mixing. Compared to other locations, this location surprised us in terms of the food quality, which was a definite plus in my books!
ATMOSPHERE:
This restaurant had just opened about a month ago therefore, it was quite busy for a Sunday evening. The décor of the restaurant was chic, with large hanging lights peppered throughout the dining room, sheep wallpaper, and
comfortable seating. There were servers running around quite quickly as people continuously came into the restaurant however, it wasn’t too noisy. There was also a bar near where we were sitting which offered assistance to the servers by providing them with dishes, glasses, etc.
SERVICE:
The only downfall with this restaurant was the service. When we had first arrived, we were given the menu, then our soup bases within about five minutes. After that, it began to go downhill from that point. We didn’t receive all of the items that we had ordered, and had to ask any server walking-by for the items that we had requested as we were hungry and craving them. When we had placed an order, it sometimes took 10 to 15 minutes for the items to arrive. We were confused as to why it took so long considering that there were so many people working. Also, the servers didn’t seem too friendly when we had asked them to bring over the items that were missing. Definitely a huge loss to the restaurant as it may turn people away from coming in the future.
COST:
3 Non-Spicy Soup Bases ($2.00 Each = $6.00 In Total) + 3 Weekend Dinners ($22.99 Each = $68.97 In Total) = $84.72 (Taxes Included)
WOULD YOU RETURN?
Being that this is the only hotpot restaurant in Mississauga, I would certainly give it another try however, I would like it if the service were better as this could be a great addition to the Mississauga community.
