Review Pita & Grill - Mississauga

Zlatko Zahirović
Wow, I strongly suspect someone from the old Paramount HQ location transfered to this location because the Shawarma and the Hummus is out of this world. I don't hand out 5- stars often but this was well deserved! A very large indoor seating area perhaps more tailored towards lunches from the nearby businesses but nevertheless the food was tasty, reasonable prices as well. Cheers.

Dining room is very spacious and clean. Service is very good. Good amount of food , reasonable price. Beef shawarma tastes nice and unique, towards the dry side, which I like. Mix grill is good to try if you are very hungry.

We stopped in for lunch while we were shopping in the industrial plaza across the street. We had our dog with us and so were able to sit at the tables outside. The food was amazing. Fresh and made exactly as we ordered. I had a salad and hubby had a pita. We highly recommend this place!

Have ordered here multiple times and always had great food at great prices but my recent experience wasn’t so great. Came here and ordered beef shawarma wraps and they hardly put in any beef. On top of that the wrap keeps getting smaller and the prices keep going up. We understand that inflation is driving up costs but paying over $20 for 2 small sized shawarma wraps (no combo) is a bit much.

I went in yesterday with my family at 8:30 to dine in after we all finished work. After ordering about $100 worth of food the lady at cash let us know we couldn’t dine inside because they closed at 9, mind you there was a family already sitting about to get their food and dine in right beside us. She told us our only two options were to eat outside on their dirty outside patio on the grass or take the food to go. Horrible customer service, completely unacceptable. I understand if we had came maybe 10 minutes before closing but we were there a good half an hour before and would’ve been out within 15-20. I wish I could give you guys 0 stars but it won’t let me post without adding at least 1.

Asked for a chicken shawarma dinner, she quickly put it together, said nothing to me, handed me a bag... when I got home I opened it, no garlic sauce , no hot sauce, very (very!!) little hummus. It tasted good but it was dry and very lacking all the textures I’ve come to expect with a shawarma dinner, the sauceyness of it all..... very dissatisfied

I have been coming to this place for YEARS, way before any of these subpar shawarma franchise chains opened up and let me tell you this place is the real deal. They're consistent and SO delicious. Their chicken shawarma is perfectly marinated and flavoured, they don't cheap out either. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!

Very delicious, flavour is unique. Fresh and soft bread. Always get shawrma and grilled chicken with salad, never had complains about the flavor and portion. Hommous is very delicious freshly made. Will recomend this place for shawrma lovers.

Love the kofta sandwich. Right amount of seasoning, with whatever topping u desire. Price is not bad. Like the atmosphere and the menu is organised. They offer a healthy choice menu for people watching their weight

Adopting a cafeteria-style layout, the restaurant was much bigger than it appeared from the outside and approximated between five or six times the size of Shahi Grill.

I had first discovered this location from reading an insauga article some few days earlier, and users had praised this place highly in the comments section. To my disappointment though, it wasn't quite as great as I had hoped.

My last visit at Shahi Grill took approximately 10-15 minutes, but I had received a foot-long shawarma wrap composed of freshly-grilled meat wrapped in a pita that had just been taken out of the oven. Here, the lady simply grabbed a pita from a plastic bag containing several others and filled it with veggies and meat that had already been prepared and placed in Subway-topping style in stainless steel containers. In order to get the same crispiness though, she then proceeded to put the wrap under what appeared to be a panini press. The whole process (both ordering, paying, and wait time) took a total of 10 minutes.

How good is this place? Put it this way, I live in Milton and will drive all the way here for their chicken shawarma, sooo yummy and filling. Hubby and I have eaten here a gazillion of times and have never been disappointed. Their chicken is moist and flavourful, so good. I've tried other places, but they cannot even compare to Pita & Grill. I just wish it was closer.

Filling Shawarma And Shish Tawouk. E: It is opportune that Pita & Grill near Dixie And Eglinton exists. The beef and lamb shawarmas and the chicken shawarma and shish tawouk (pita and meat roasted on rotating and horizontal skewers) are delicious.
The sandwiches or plates of the same are filling as the restaurant does not skimp. The plates add rice or salad to the meat. The chicken is my favourite of all their meats. It is more moist and tender. The beef can be dry.
The food is well marinated, authentic and tasty. I suspect they do not use white meat for their chickens - could someone confirm; I am not going to be the one who will unwrap a pita sandwich mid-meal after all - but that makes the food that much flavoursome.
The sauces and garnishes used here are simply delicious. Once one has picked a meal (meat) they personalize the food with lefet (pickled turnips with beets), onions, garlic sauce, tomatoes and vegetables as options. They also grill the sandwich once filled and wrapped, which makes the bread toastier, warm and complete. Ask them to hold the sandwich in the grill for a minute longer for an even tastier pita.
Drinks include laban, which is Arabic yogurt drink. They also offer hot sauce and extra garlic sauce for a fee I believe. Charging for sauce is slightly tacky and cheap. For whatever reason, other Shawarma eateries add tahini (sesame sauce) to their sandwiches. It makes the food bitter, wet and dripping. Pita & Grill skips the tahini sauce.
Their sub-$10 sandwiches and sub-$15 meals of the same are really good.
Pita & Grill also has falafel, but I have not tried it. It is not for what they are known.
-
A: Pita & Grill is a fairly large sandwich shop with approximately 15 tables and booths. Several years ago they added a couple of TVs to the ceiling and added some decor to their bland interior.
It is not fancy, but it is clean and one does not feel squeezed sitting at the tables.
The operation is in an industrial plaza where, aside from a Caribbean eatery, there exist a couple of car and part shops. It is Mississauga so no one would expect nice surroundings. (Edit: they have moved down the street from Maingate a block east, which is a more spacious and modern location. The restaurant is now roomier, but owing to a spacious layout likely still seats the same number of people).
-
T: Pita & Grill is popular and it is not outside the realm of possibility to see a queue forming inside the restaurant ten man deep waiting to get to the cash. In fact, I have seen the line-up snake through the entrance and unto the parking lot. Come early or late and the wait time should be more manageable.
They have a 'conveyor' system set up that moves the customers along quickly - pay, get a tray, pick toppings, et. - but the toasting grills could become a bottleneck as they only have a few of those.
-
S: Pita & Grill is a self-service-walk-up-to-the-counter set-up. Once one gets the order it is off to a table. Once done, they expect that one deposits the tray and cutlery on their bins by the exit.
The staff is happy to accommodate personalizations. However, do not expect smiles, gratitude or appreciation. They are too busy for that.
The restaurant has now grown into a chain. I did not see the Syrian gentleman who is the owner the last two times I grabbed a shawarma there so one hopes that, as a consequence, the quality does not deteriorate either through neglect or as a consequence of success.

The chicken Shawrma wrap with the toppings you like and hummus, is very tasty and filling. I love when they grill the wrap because you get a nice texture on the outside and it keeps everything warm.

Best servise and food. The best shawarma in GTA , the freshest fillings and the juiciest meat. Done right and a shawarma can be the perfect cure for a hungry stomach. The basic recipe calls for a warm pita stuffed with tender pieces of chicken (or beef, lamp), creamy garlic sauce, crisp lettuce, refreshing tomatoes and an ensemble of pickled turnips, hot peppers and pickles.http://pitaandgrill.com/index.html

Worst service ever!! Had a meeting with the owner for catering after work which i confirmed half an hour before arriving and when I got there the cook tells me he went home. Got the cook to call him and he tells me to come back the next day. What a dingus

Lamb is soooooo Good!. Go for the lamb, and the chicken is great too. I usually go on Friday and the line up is huge, BUT that old guy at the cash and staff are a well tuned assembly line that churn out shwarmas and such at a pace that would make Henry Ford impressed. You get to pick what you want for toppings and meat is finely chopped for easy eating without pulling the whole sandwich apart like other places. There are a few other places in the area, but they're service is unacceptably slow or the the meat is dry. I've strayed and tried other shwarma places but, i've always come back here.

We returned:
Big location with a fair bit of seating but a lot of wide open wasted space. The assembly line serving style works well for quickly moving the line. The pita is a good size and well stuffed. The flavour is very nice, but I always add the hot sauce as I eat to give it the kick it needs. The beef and lamb were slightly dry. The chicken was good. It's been a while since I've been here. In the past the line has been almost out the door; not so much this time. Granted, there is a lot of competition in the area for this type of food. There are so many places in Mississauga, it will likely be a long time before I return.

Best shawarma in Gta, first choice always

Pretty good.. Not my favorite in Peel but not a bad choice. Sucks that they use only dark meat though. Sandwich is a pretty hefty size however, and one should fill you up. Location at Hurontario & Derry really sucks though. And the hours are terrible.

Best chicken shawarma I've tasted in the GTA. This is my "go-to" place for lunch Monday-Friday. If your going during the week, get there just before noon or after 1:30pm to avoid long line-ups. Great value.

Awesome lamb pita. Very fast service (even when it's packed). Fresh toppings.
