Review Summit Garden Restaruant - Mississauga

This was a pretty good experience... I've never been to just Dim sum before. The food was obviously fresh the servers walk around pushing food carts with so many awesome varieties of food... spicy pork buns.. the buns were super fresh! It was a great time.. friendly staff.. was a Lil pricey but worth it. I was a Lil upset when I sat down only cause as I moved into my table there was a Lil nail that was sticking out that damaged my jacket.. I told one of the managers and he actually took two small plates from our tabe hammered the nail in... it was surprisingly hilarious...

Beef was okay, noodles were good but crispy porks taste like it's very very old, some skins were even soft and chewy, some are half crispy. And It took them forever when I tried get the bill. 1 server even asked us to wait and never came back. But since we received the bill it only took them 10s to come back and I even haven't had enough time to take a cash out 😂😂😂.

The food here is super good. I order fried rice with shrimp and pork, it tastes super delicious!! I love the perking duck here too. Should try.

We ordered the peking duck and had it served 2 different ways, and they were very delectable. All the other orders we had were also equally good. What does not sit well with me was the customer service I experienced. Right at the beginning as I was coming into the restaurant, I did not appreciate how rude the receptionist was. There was some sort of communication issue as I was explaining the fact that I am coming in with a group and that the people I am with already arrived earlier. The receptionist was quick to lose patience and then just asked for my proof of vaccination. It was unruly how the front desk person reacted. Another thing was how the food dishes were brought to our table. I understand the fact that our space was a little crowded and there may be some issue squeezing in to place the food onto the lazy Susan. However, there were about 3 times that the server bumped into one of us guests as she was placing orders. For me that is 2 times too many for what is acceptable. I will not mind if the waiter will instead just politely request for some clearing instead of forcing their way in wiggling into the tights space available.

Never again I had ordered from them before but this time it was really bad.. this was a dinner for my daughter’s birthday & Chinese New Year. A dinner for 4 was really a dinner for 3 and I had bought an extra container of lemon chicken that was very dry. It looked like nothing was fresh. Placed the order 2 days before for pick up at 4:45 and it was ready at 5:20 … never again plus I had given them a tip.. next time we will go to Cheese.. food is so fresh and tasty..

This is one of go-to Chinese cĂšisine places. We do dimsum sometimes but mostly do dinner as their Peking Duck done 2-way is one of the best in town. We order the Fried Green Beans with silverfish, paired with the Steamed Pickerel in Soya Sauce. We usually top that off with the Salted Fish Fried Rice. Service is fast and courteous. I highly recommend this place.

We have a craving for Peking Duck and this place was recommended to us. We chose the 2-course Peking Duck. First was the crispy skin served with pancakes and the second one minced duck and diced vegetables served with lettuce. We also ordered crab claws and fried grouper filets in sweet and sour sauce. We love and enjoyed all the food which really tasted great, they are so good. Prices are reasonable. They also have dimsum for lunch. This is a big restaurant and is kept clean. They even have air purifiers around the place with uv light. We would definitely go back to this place and try other items in their menu.

Shrimp is not fresh, all black. Plus Terrible service, very rude waitresses, not answer our questions about menu. And Our take out order was ready for a long time and we sat in the lobby waiting for it. Nobody inform us at all. Won't visit again.

Attended with another family who had a previous good experience, they were surprised and unhappy. We ordered Peking Duck/ Lobster for 10, it was a huge disappointment poor value for what we received. The main dish portion size was barely enough for 6 people....9 lettuce leaves for 10 people to make wraps??? Other dishes were dissatisfying...... dessert was not tasty. Service not bad. Will not be returning.

No longer the same as the Summit of the past! Whispers, word of mouth that the Chef left! It must be true! Cantonese chowmein tastes like those you get from a fast food wannabe chinese food. My favorite congee was tasteless and not so good anymore. Dimsum selection also less than before. We keep on forgiving and going back hoping that they will get better. Too bad, this is not the case.

Now I remember why we haven't been back here for awhile... Appetizers come at the end -dim sum shrimp roll and spring roll Crispy chicken was dry Beef green onion and ginger onion I'd say about 12pcs meat rest were veggies; sauce salt /soy sauce/and dim sum sauce were forgotten

The best Chinese food in the GTA! My family has been going here for over 20 years. The peiking duck and dim sum are amazing!

We visited from Vancouver with no expections. Food is good. Prices reasonable and quite friendly service. For Dim sum, you have to go early otherwise long line up especially on Sunday.

It was our son in-law's birthday celebration dinner. Our favour dish there is Peking Duck which is delicious and the price is reasonable. I would highly recommended this restaurant for your special event.

I have been a customer of Summit Garden since its opening in April 1998, as a matter of fact, I attended the restaurant's opening then. The standard of food & service is consistent & delicious, I believe it has to do with its owner, Ken Choi & his management team & chef's efforts & dedication.

Great value. Tasty. Busy place at peak times. Last night though, chef put the mango sauce on the fish and the sweet and sour on the chicken. Should have been the other way round per the menu. Always ask for the green book with the specials where you can select the al la carte.

Always enjoy eating here....service is usually pretty good.....i find that you have to come at a certain time or you will be waiting a long ass time

Went to at late breakfast kind of earlier brunch with David Hewitt - good think cause about half way through the entire large banquet sized dining room was full t the brim with people waiting to get in. Sure is popular. I just love dim sum and I really like it when I’m able to try some new items. The pigs feet were really good. Congee was wonderful. I need to start getting that more often. Also had octopus for the first time at dim sum, it was good as well. I had shu mai (not sure if that’s how it’s spelled) at the end of the meal and it was excellent, some of the best I’ve ever had!

Best food ever! their squid is amazing, way better than the squid at other places like square one. They have good and tasty options and are reasonably priced. Their duck and dim sum is amazing as well!

Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine is an authentic Chinese restaurant on Winston Churchill Blvd and Dundas St in Mississauga. They have been in business for about 18 years, and have a reputation for being consistent with their food and service. I can definitely see the reason why they have been a successful for so long, as many of their diners are returnees with their family members.

Those unfamiliar with the dining style will call it "tapas", but us insiders all know that dimsum is ten times better than overpriced (and over-hyped) appetizers. Summit Garden has maintained status as our family's go-to destination for dimsum since day one. Overlooking the fact that many of the long-term staff members recognize us by face, the restaurant is situated in a convenient location and provides easy access to Chinese food whenever takeout is required.

Horrible. Came for a 10 course dinner, it was so salty and greasy our mouths felt oily and dry as if we drank the sea. Worst Chinese 10 course I've ever had. Also after the 4th course there was a 45 minute delay. We started at 7:30 pm and didn't finish dinner till past 11:00 pm.

Sunday Dim Sum. I went with my family to Dim Sum here. The place was dirty and I didn't quite like the food as much. Everything was dry and didn't taste so good.

I lost my appetite as I sat down. The cups had grease from the kitchen stuck on them still and there was stuff stuck onto the spoons and cutlery we used. I felt full and didn't have much of an appetite.

The interior is quite nice though and the staff is friendly enough. The place was packed on a Sunday morning. Dine in was at its maximum and some people had to wait at the door to be seated.

I would have tipped more if they had clean cutlery but it wasn't on par with other restaurants in terms of cleanliness.

Weekly Dimsum. I head over there with a large group (around 12-14 people) each Sunday to have dim sum lunch. Since we go so often, we are able to get seats fairly quickly and without getting a ticket number. And possibly because of this, we get rather good service from the waiters and the push-cart aunties.

In terms of food, I recommend sitting near the farthest right corner in the back of the restaurant because that's where the new carts full of steaming hot food comes out. The only food that I ever found not so good is when it's cold: this especially applies to egg tarts (where I once bit onto one that was COLD inside. They promptly heated them up afterwards), and chicken wings (because they taste horrible when cold, I think).

Of course, food deliciousness depends on your individual taste - I happen to like just about anything and am open to try new things. Something I think everyone may enjoy is the baked tapioca pudding (it's yellow).
Last thing about eating here is that after 2pm, you can choose from many noodles/rice for only 6.99$ for a HUGE plate, and larger plates of dimsum for only 2.99$

Great Place!. We came here for a large gathering on a Saturday evening. When we walked in, we found our table where our friends were already sitting and sat down. The table was very large with a huge spinning wheel in the middle. This spinning wheel was used to pass food from one end of the table to another. I had never seen anything like this before so I thought it was great. We were given menus and we ordered our meals. We all decided to share meals therefore, we ordered enough meals to be placed in the middle for everyone. The food came within about fifteen minutes of us ordering it. The food was really tasty with just the right amount of flavour. The service was also great; the servers came to talk to us and they were friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back to this place to give it another go!

Good Dim Sum. I've been going to Summit Garden for years for dim sum and I love it there. I always get what I want. The cart ladies are always friendly and nice. If they come by and they have run out of what we want we just ask for it and one of the wait staff go into the kitchen and order it for us and we get it, they're usually pretty accommodating. My sister-in-law and I go there frequently and we really enjoy it. We try new stuff all the time and if we don't like it we don't order it next time, but most of the time we enjoy it. That's the beauty of dim sum. We were there once and one of the wait staff was really noisy cleaning a table and that was a little off putting, but on the whole, it's pretty good. I have only been there for dim sum, not sure what dinner service is like. I do agree the wait staff aren't overly friendly, but the cart ladies are.

Good food, not great, service is lacking. Dirty ice once. The westend deserves better.

Good food, bad staff. The staff always seem to be really scatterbrained, you ask for something, and they forget. Despite that, the food is worth going for. My family likes to go there for dimsum, and their peking duck is fairly authentic as well.

Amazing food for your dollar. It's true - the service is terrible. One server approached us to interrogate me just because I asked another server to get me some condiments and the former was reprimanded for not being on her toes. But all in all, what is to be expected from a push cart restaurant? I for one, do not go to push cart dim sum to be waited on hand and food. Sure, many dim sum places have amazing service - but sometimes you can expect to pay twice as much. Other than the rude servers, they were relatively fast with seating at the usual peak time.

As for the food, I had a great time with a variety of staples (but don't expect any crazy delicacies or unique dishes). Some things were just on par (sticky rice, egg tarts), and some things were fantastic (steamed turnip cake, and, strangely enough, BBQ buns). Dishes were fresh and timely, and I was pleased to see that there were no cases of the disappearing cart (i.e., carts with certain foods were constantly refilled and didn't disappear into the kitchen very long).

I was visiting Toronto and stopped by Summit on my way home - so I have nothing to say in terms of comparing it to other GTA/Toronto dim sum restaurants. But in terms of my experience growing up in Taiwan and Calgary, it was a meal worth my money.

Dirty, Ignorant Staff. The place is Dirty, the staff are ignorant however the foods pretty decent. For this area its probably the best you are going to get. However if you are willing to travel another 10-20 minutes towards square one there are much better places. The last time I was there the constant clanging of dishes and the place being dirty has turned us off the restaurant.

Okay Dim Sum. I was craving for Dim Sum and a co-worker suggested Summit Garden as it's up the street from our office. The place is small and not a lot of clients, given that today was a Friday. The choices were limited and not very tasty. The cart ladies go by even when you signal that you are interested in looking to see what's in the cart. Very pricey.

-----16 Feb, 2011-----

Okay dim sum.

I had to pay for TEA. that's all I have to say. Overpriced and not the best food. Don't go here
Ken
Rude service.. Be ready to catch plates chopsticks and bowls, they throw them at the table towards you. Also bring you own water if you can, as these are hard to come by as well. The staff aren't friendly nor efficient. We come here on Sundays, as they are the only authentic dimsum close by. The hargaws and st. beef ribs are unbelievably good and they have an extensive array of dim sum. The place is bustling, but the service needs lots of improvement. The staff is disinterested. Screwed up our order, forgot to fix it, and never apologized. Took forever to get the cheque. It is very busy on a Sunday, so be warned. This is the only place of its kind around here or they would have close down along time ago for their rude service.

Passable authentic dim sum... Downright rude!. Like the other reviewers, I agree that this place has decent Dim Sum,but the service is horrible. We have been going there monthly for years, and had recommended many people to try it. Bu stopped going after a very rude older mean looking waitress ( I think she was the chief receptionist then) totally ignored us & went to seat other Chinese speaking regulars, even when we clearly came before them, & they did not have reservation. Every time we had the misfortune of her serving us, she was always rude & abrupt. ( I have not seen her the last time we came) But the other waiters were no better really, just not as obviously rude as her. Even if you just ask for a glass of water or metal cutlery, they get annoyed! In general, the place isn't the cleanest, as with most Chinese restaurants & service is down right rude, food is alright, the closest one around that is authentic, but nothing to write home about. Emerald is 10x better & has more selection, service is better, though not outstanding, much busier but dirtier too. We now just go to downtown Toronto, or not at all.

Great food, horrible service. The roasted/fried chicken is excellent as are the seafood dishes and noodles. We often go here but have been finding that the servers are rude. I have been seeing the service go down hill for months now.

This evening we witnessed an outrageous act with a family sitting next to us. The servers had given their food to someone else and they waited a long time for it. The waiter was not only not apologizing but was giving them attitude when they asked to removed the missing dish from the bill and not bother with it as all the other courses had been served and they would like to leave. This waiter kept given them attitude then at one point even showed them the dish before bringing it to another table as if to taunt this family.

Normally in a situation like this, management would remove the dish off the bill and still serve it to the guest since it was there mistake and it had been over 30 mins since all the other dishes arrived. But they did nothing. Because of this we too told management what we witnessed with the other tables server but was also given attitude. (I guess they wanted us to mind our own business, but we felt something needed to be said about how poor the service was overall)

all in all the food gets a 9/10 but service would get about a 3/10

Good food. A tad pricey. Sometimes it tuff to communicate with some servers.

Abuse. Dim Sum is passable, but there are better places in Mississauga (Emerald says hello). We once went for dim sum and had the path of the carts avoid our table entirely until we complained. You`d think after many years in business they`d have ironed that out. As a dinner spot, Summit fares much better. The food is well-prepared, but a recent dinner saw us wait for our food while other tables arrived, ordered and left. We'd ordered two bowls of rice that didn't arrive at all, even after asking after them twice. I get the message, Summit Garden: our business is unwelcome and I will never darken your doorstep again.
