Review Mango Rain - Mississauga

Bhargavi R
We did a take out of 4 dishes from here, and the quantity and quality of dishes were quite disappointing. Once we saw the quantity after getting home, we thought they gave us by mistake. It felt like someone removed half of the quantity from the container. The restaurant said that’s the quantity they give. I wish I had taken a photo to show. Felt very cheated. If you are really charging $16-20 per dish, at least be honest with the quantity. Or raise the price by another $2 and give a full order instead of a “full” order. Veg vindaloo was at best mediocre. You can get much better chicken curry elsewhere for the same price. Shrimp jalfrezi was a good dish. Wouldn’t visit this place again.
Q & A
This place is a hidden treasure! Family owned, authentic and exotic thai and some Indian options as well. With the option of spice levels from 1 to 5, followed by the creamiest mango ice cream you cant go wrong! I've been going to this hidden gem for years! And so glad the family managed to keep it open and survive the pandemic.

I’ve heard good things about the taste but I was quite disappointed with the overall meal. We ordered 3 dishes at approximately $17 per meal and not one of them came with rice! OR naan! $70+ after everything and we had to make some rice at home. I’m not sure how a butter chicken or chicken vindaloo dish comes served without rice — especially at that price point. The flavour was great but we won’t be ordering again until something is changed.

Very good food. The owner is extremely nice. Her food has very complex flavours. The medium spicy is very spicy. This place is a hidden gem!

Ordered Pad Thai and yellow curry and it was pathetic. No taste at all… the yellow curry tasted only of turmeric flavor and Pad Thai just had garlic flavor. Yellow curry does not come along with rice… you have to order rice at additional cost.Waste of time and money.. I really don’t understand how this restaurant has so many good reviews. Please do not order from here …. The taste is pathetic. I wish I could give them zero stars. Have added the receipt for proofs

More of an Indian restaurant with a few Thai options. Overall, it's good with friendly staff.

A true neighbourhood treasure. Been coming here since they opened. The owners are awesome - fresh and delicious food! Love their lamb vindaloo and mulligatawny soup.

For many years Mango Rain has been our favourite Indian restaurant. Each dish has complex and well-rounded flavours. When we were allowed to dine inside restaurants the service was personal and attentive. The personal touch has translated well to take out. Our recommendations include butter chicken (so good we often order 2!), the eggplant curry (the best we have found!), and the chana masala.

The best restaurant I have been to. Fresh food, served with a friendly smile and a welcoming setting - can't ask for more. The husband-wife team are a joy and complement each other perfectly. Would come back again and again!

A treasure in the neighbourhood. One of the best Indian/Thai places ever! Fresh food, served with a friendly smile and a welcoming setting - can't ask for more. The husband-wife team are a joy and complement each other perfectly. Been a regular customer since they opened this place years ago and I still get excited about eating there! My favourites: Mulligitawny soup/ garlic naan/ Tandoori chicken/ chicken vindaloo. I love that they can customize your spice level too!

The best restaurant I have been to in a long time. I am someone who doesn't get very surprised or overly excited about food anymore unless it exceeds my expectations, and Mango Rain did just that. WOW. Amazing service, amazing selection and so fresh. The wait for the food is definitely worth it. Would come back again and again! Don't let the outside fool you, this place is a total gem.

Amazing food. One of those places where you remember the flavours and need to return. Butter chicken is so good. Everything is prepared fresh so don't be in a rush but it's so worth the wait.

Fresh Food. This place is amazing! I went there with my sister and brother in law on Saturday! It's a very small but cozy place located on lakeshore. The servers were both very kind and Pete (I believe that was his name) made us laugh. I don't know how this place could have any bad ratings because the owners were very pleasant and the food was very fresh! Haven't had this type of fresh since Europe! They put heart and soul into their food and they make it very tasty!!! You just have to go there and try it to know what I'm talking about! The seasoning is also just right!

Don't think I'll find a better Thai and Indian restaurant in the GTA. Very reasonably priced and the service is the best of any Asian restaurant I've been to. Did I mention the food was the best?

Disappointed. It sounded good. It looked good. It wasn't. The food is just about average and, for the quality and quantity served, certainly overpriced. Those who rave about it surely haven't tried Saffron Foods next door. There, the food is superbly delicious, nicely plated and presented, with a smiling chef always ready (if you're interested) to tell a story behind every menu item.

My business Sils Complete Auto Care is in the area. My wife and I have gone here on ma y occasions after a work day for excellent food. Small business , local to community, high quality food. Yes not very speedy but good Indian food should take time to prepare properly. Excellent place. Butter chicken, vindaloo, Thai salad are all wonderful. Great place to take anyone for a business meeting too.

DELICIOUS!!!. What a great menu and a delicious fusion of Thai and Indian. I had the butter chicken at a 2.5 heat level and it was hot and delicious. My husband had the lamb vindaloo at a 4 heat level and the sweat was pouring off of him, and he was in love with every bite. The garlic naan was fantastic and so was the service.
We will be back!!!!

OMG!!! what a find :). All thanks to my boyfriend for discovering this 'Hidden Gem of a Place'. Don't be putt off by the facade, 'cause once you enter the place you are in treat for a nice cozy ambiance and goooooood food..

My boyfriend booked a table for 2 at this place on Valentine's day.... I would recommend this place to anybody who is fond of candle light dinners and loveee spending a niceee pleasant evening with their better half.. A group of friends might find this place too small and might ruin the aura of the ambiance :p

Our appetizer course consisted of the vegetable pakoras and shrimp satay.. The vegetable pakoras were different.. but in a nice way.. the crust was crispy dusted with a bit of amchur and served with a nice tangy and spicy chutney... pakoras are generally oily , but the pakoras at mango rain are one of a kind.. they are light, cispy and melt in your mouth the moment you pop them in.

We requested the waitress to make our shrimp satay a bit spicy,,Yummm yummm yummm the shrimp was an explosion of well blended flavors in the mouth and not to forget the meat was perfectly cooked.

For our main course we ordered buttered rotis and the lamb laziz.. the lamb laziz was exquisite as well....

For the first time , my boyfriend and me had finished every morsel on our plate it was that gooood.

Since we were impressed with the food we ordered a biryani to go and My oh My i shared it wih a vietnamese colleague of mine and she loved it so much that we're planning our second visit very soon with a couple of experimental foodies like us.

The Best Indian food I ve ever had so far in Mississauga..

Lovely!. I've lived in the area and have passed this restaurant too many times to count. Decided to go in finally and give it a try. The food was SO GOOD! Starting with the squid salad which was very fresh. The Tandoori chicken and Spicy Thai Shrimp was also very tasty. The portions were a good size for the price. It was nice to know (by taste) that everything was made fresh and simply not just warmed up. We were served by a very pleasant and attentive girl. Place is small but cozy. Will definitely be back . And we are passing the word along.

MY FAVOURITE PLACE. This restaurant was reccommended to me by a friend about a year ago and it is absolutely the BEST food I have ever eaten. Usually when I go out to restaurants I am never that satisfied with the food, but this place has the freshest and best thai-indian fusion food ever. Everything is freshly prepared when you order it, the restaurant is very small so it doesn't seem crowded and the lady working is a sweetheart. I definitely reccommend this place to anyone who isn't scared to try new foods!

The food and service are good but too expensive for the locación. Incredible: only one dessert available!! Overall ok.
