Review Mandarin Restaurant - Mississauga

Fresh food and good quality as usual. Good servers. After brunch. They have free cotton candy machine at door to give to guest! What a nice surprise.

Went there for a birthday lunch. The buffet was really good! Worth the money spent. Only regret was that we could try everything.. Good customer service :)..the review won’t be complete without the bday picture magnet..

Had a terrific time at the Mandarin Matheson Mississauga location! The food was great and the service was amazing! ALL the staff here were welcoming, attentive, fast and amazing. Special shutout to Harry, Eric and Daniel, they were the BEST staff and servers I’ve EVER experienced at any mandarin location! I regularly go to the Niagara Falls mandarin location but this MATHESON Mandarin location has by far been THE BEST customer service I’ve ever experienced. They went above and beyond to accommodate my friends, family, and I during our dinner. We left happy with full stomachs and great memories! I definitely will be coming back!

Was told: buffet wed-sunday, but they will be open for buffet on the week of may 2nd. we stayed and ordered a la carte. great prices for the size. much bigger than we imagined, about $3.99 on average.

me and my family decided to have lunch at Mandarin on fathers day and were quite surprised to see the amount of people, none the less, the hosts were still friendly, and we were seated pretty quickly. Food and atmosphere were good but the service provided was extra well done. our server Eric got us our drinks fast and provided our family a wonderful dining experience. We could tell our server was really dedicated to their service because even though it was busy they managed to do a wonderful job during my birthday even with the rush.

NIce restaurant. Never been in a chinese restorant in Canada and this was the 1st one. Was expecting to have weird food, however this was a buffet that you pay C$36/adult and you can eat as much as you can. I tried a lot of stuff and I liked it (being a picky eater :) ). The only problem is that you need to book an appointment, otherwise you can wait for more than 1 hour to get in when it's busy. recommended.

2017/06/10
We were in Mississauga at dinner time, and we felt that going to a Mandarin was a good choice for us. This location on Matheson Rd wasn't too busy this evening, so we were promptly seated. Although the decor in our dining room was different than other Mandarins that we have been to, the general layout and food choices at the buffet tables were the same.

Even though the restaurant wasn't too busy, there were enough people there to keep the various dishes moving and replenished. There were a couple of dishes that were a bit overdone, but overall it was typical, good Mandarin.

Service was better than most Mandarins. Plates were cleared promptly, and water was tipped up on a regular basis.

Given that SWMBO and I have been to numerous Mandarin restaurants, it would be nice to see them introduce a few more new dishes.

I was in town for work. Was really hungry and decided to hit up The Mandarin due to the fair reviews online. Service was excellent, food was mediocre and borderline inedible. While the selection may seem vast, when you look at the items offered, many of them are similar and/or variations of the same thing. I was surprised they had sashimi, however after having a few slices and also seeing how they prepared it, I was turned off. For one, the sashimi was still frozen and sliced/chopped up very poorly. The actual taste was rubbery and it was borderline inedible. They also had prime rib that night, unfortunately it was dry and overdone. The guy behind the carvery station was trying to push the corner piece of meat that no one wanted and I literally had to say 3 times that, "no I don't want that piece because it's been dried out and looks like its been sitting there for a while now. I want the new piece right next to it." Not a good impression at all. Then you have your standard sweet and sour pork and lemon chicken offerings... That kind of thing. The clientele was primarily Caucasian, and that was an indication to me that this establishment catered to that demographic exclusively, therefore the items offered reflected that demographic's general preferences. That is fair game, but for the price, there are other buffets in town that have higher quality offerings for the same price and/or cheaper. I ended up paying $36 with tax and tip included (just for the meal, no drinks). I mean, if you want all you can eat Americanized Chinese Fast Food, this place will do... But I'm positive you can find cheaper places around town and get the same thing.

I visit this location most frequently when my family decides to go to Mandarin (buffets keep everyone in the group happy and satisfied). I find this location much more clean and friendlier (especially after they renovated) and the food is always being refilled and is always fresh. Lots of variety of Chinese/Asian and some American with some special items they add during certain times of the year. Sometimes they change around their food items but it’s usually just about the same every time I go. I used to think it was fairly pricey but it’s really not considering how much you would pay at a regular restaurant for just the main course. Here you get it all from appetizers, to dessert (no drinks though) and fortune cookies at the end :)

Too Expensive!. We came here on the Chinese New Year. We had made reservations however, had to wait about thirty minutes to actually get our table. We didn't think that was fair since we had already made reservations. The front of the restaurant was much too packed, and there isn't any appropriate seating areas in the front of the restaurant. We were finally called to our table and given the option to choose the buffet or the a la carte menu. We settled on the buffet and went to help ourselves. I didn't find the food to be that good to be honest with you; most of the items were cold and weren't that tasty. The french fries for example were cold and weren't replenished very quickly. The pizza was also cold, along with the chicken balls and other items. I was disappointed at the quality of the food. Also, the restaurant itself was very busy and crowded; it was difficult to walk around without bumping into someone. The dessert selection was okay; the chocolate chip cookies actually didn't taste as soft as I remember them, and the other dessert options looked less appetizing. We always had different servers, we never had the same server, which lost its appeal for good customer service. When we were finished our meal, we ended up paying $132 for four people; that is way too expensive! Considering the food was not up to par, we felt ripped off being charged that much. I had to admit; the place was nicely decorated and the servers were all wearing beautiful traditional garments for the new year however, it didn't satisfy our stomachs. Definitely not a place that I would visit again; much too expensive and the food was not up to my standards!

Amazing! We felt like Kings and Queens. We were treated like royalty. Hot towels before and after dinner just pushed it it to over the edge! I could not list how many amazing things there are to eat but i'll try to list as many as i can remember starting with what i or people in my party ate. wonton soup, curry coconut chicken soup, Spicy thai mango salad, deviled eggs, antipasto, oysters, ceaser salad, veggie tempura, stir fried tofu w veggies, sushi: fried shrimp, salmon and cream cheese, sweet potato and brown rice, lemon chicken, spring roll, Sashimi: red tuna, salmon, egg, one other i don't remember, pizza, lots of different types of breads, black bean mussels (very spicy), every dessert imaginable: chocolate covered strawberries!!!, sundae bar, 7 different ice creams, 2 frozen yogurts, a waffle bar (these were so good!!!) with english cream, whipped cream and different sauces, caramel chocolate brownies (again a major fave), cheescakes, sugar free options, carrot cake, fruit, chocolate mouse cake.
A few things they have that we didn't try: a meat bar with 6 different meats they looked ok but we are not big meat eaters, a bunch of fried stuff, and french fries. Again looked ok but we don't eat too much fried although maybe my son had one fried shrimp. So for all the reviews that said everything is fried... ummm maybe there were some things that are fried (which is fine) but we can more than get stuffed and still want more without eating much, if anything fried.
We recently moved from montreal and we have def found our new go to restaurant!

Newly renovated, looks nice. However I hate how this stuff is over you every time you take a sip of water. I had my full glass of water topped up twice and I didn't even drink from it hahaha. it's a really nice atmosphere but there are way too many crying babies and children at every member and I go to go I don't know.. Good food not so good atmosphere. .the server should find a way to seat families with children in one section of the restaurant

A Professional Buffet Chain. E: In the eyes of many it might be a Chinese buffet, but the variety of trays supports the chain’s assertion that it offers, “Chinese, Oriental, Asian Cuisine, Buffet.” Add to that Canadian fare.
The variety even at lunch was high. There were semi-Chinese items, chushi (Chinese ‘sushi’), soups, grilled meat, something called flank steak, breads and desserts. My intake was limited, but the fish and chicken I tasted reminded me of my original grumble regarding the chain – whose Brampton location I also visited this year. Whether one eats the chicken or the fish fillet the taste is identical. The food items typically come with sauce and one can add a variety of offered sauces to any dish, but the taste is always bland and harmless. As pure speculation mandarin cooks its food hours before opening and simply re-heats it in boiling water prior to serving it during operating hours.
The lunch buffet was replete with choices and the salad and legume was fresh. The watermelon at the meal’s end was actually sweet and not as tasteless as everything or the average watermelon out there.
The existence of chushi and the procession of people picking it validate the popularity of this food item. The restaurant obviously does not offer any Japanese food. People gnawing at the chushi are sad. Its authentic Chinese offering is less limited. How about a few authentic Chinese dishes, Mandarin?
The lunch buffet is priced at a Canadian currency-defying $13.99. Wal-Mart would call it $13.97 and people would drive five dollars’ worth to get to it. I call it $14.
-
A: The buffet is renovated and clean. The hygiene standards are higher than norm. That is until one is presented with the cash pad for payments. The grime on the keypad was sordid.
There are several brightly lit rooms and the parallel buffet stands and trays allow for free movement of people. Artificial plants and blossoms add interior decoration.
-
T: One is seated quickly by one of several hostesses. The group reservation is easily found and one of the women will escort one to the table. Food is continuously available and never runs out based on my limited observation.
The parking lot is large, but not quite vast enough to accommodate what one would suppose is the dinner traffic. Spots might become scarce at some point.
-
S: The service was near-impeccable. Unlike the Brampton location, which is corporately owned and sits adjacent to the headquarters, Mississauga is owned by its operators. Nonetheless, one is pleasantly surprised that the chain has an unvarying commitment to service. The staff is in the same jungle uniform as Brampton and appears equally motivated and efficient. Water refill is non-stop lest someone eats too much – good luck thwarting that! – and dirty plates are removed at a brisk pace.
One is welcomed here with a smile, given a hot towel at the table and upon departure farewelled and offered a breath mint. Amazingly, as a tribute to Mandarin’s consistency, the said mint also has zero taste.
Mandarin is happy to offer individual bills, split bills and, as was required by my group, even divide and allocate someone’s bill amount to others. Their attention to customer detail can only bode well for the operation.

Newly renovated. Amazing service. Very clean. Food often replenished. Favorite dish was mash, corn, sweet and sour chicken balls and steamed rice. Crab legs were great! Awesome selection of dessert. I really enjoy the cappuccino ice-cream. Came here again as a vegetarian and realized they have a lot of selection for us! Did I mention the service is amazing? They thank you for coming and say goodbye in unison for heaven's sake! That made my night. Especially because I was high... I couldn't stop laughing. I found that their hot towels which they now bring right away and even after you eat (which is awesome) smelled weird (which was weird). But honestly there is not one other flaw I can think of... Love that they give fortune cookies at the end.

update: came back recently had a not so good experience. Firstly, they changed their salad! The garden salad is now spring mix that I usually have with cranberries and strawberry balsamic vinaigrette but they didn't have any of those so it's just that fancy lettuce with basic sauces. I liked their regular green lettuce that they used to have... the only other option is cesar so that ruins the salads for me. Their white rice has some hard grains in it here and there... The garlic bread was so hard I almost broke a tooth.. Went and told them and they made me new ones but gave them too me far too early and so they were undercooked like you could still see the butter on it.. Also the ice-cream had some hard pieces. Guess it was just a hard day! Also had to remind them to bring me a Coke. They were busy though.. Maybe that explains it...

Good. If you're looking for genuine chinese, this is not the place for you. However if you looking for very much westernized chinese or like fried food, this is the place for you. In my experience, the food is pretty good.

Alright.... The service, atmosphere and presentation were excellent but the food tasted bland. My friends however really seemed to enjoy their meal. To each their own I guess.

If you are a family....this is great for you. If not...this place would make for a terrible date. I like very much to include atmosphere as part of my reviewing process for restaurants.

Mandarin is a family restaurant and on that front they exceed greatly however they are very little of anything else. The food is is not spectacular but okay and I wouldn't go as far as calling it authentic. However they do create a fun feel with them.

I frequently visit Mandarin for its fabulous dinner buffet that boasts a large variety located on queensway. Its a great family restaurant and if you love Chinese food and meat, this restaurant will not disappoint, the drinks are good and the service is amazing thanks to the friendly staff who are not to far away if you need them. A little advise from me would be not to fill up on the starters and main course, which is quiet a challenge but rather save a little room for the delicious desserts as well.

Absolute great food, clean services. Worth going place with fam/friends.

Mandarin I went for the dinner and it was buffet that we ordered. There was a huge variety of food available. The ambience of the place was good, but considering the rates, the venue doesn’t target the young crowd. The food was not that remarkable for the money spent. The customer service was good enough to be noticed.
