Review Peter's On Eglinton - Mississauga

Feels like you’re eating at your grandparents home for dinner! Generous portions, well seasoned dishes and fantastic customer service — decent prices too. It’s one of my go-to restaurants to bring friends/family who are visiting from out of town. We ordered small souvlaki dinner (Not small at all!!), calamari for appetizer and ordered the deli corned beef sandwich to go for the S.O. 😊

The food is amazing! The service is great and the old style of the restaurant is cozy and nice! My boyfriend and I ordered the small souvlaki plate with fries and carrot cake as a dessert. The souvlaki is delicious and more than enough for one person, the fries were a little bit overcooked but it was okay, the carrot cake was fantastic and we are definitely coming back soon. Even though it took a little while to get our food it was worth it the time we waited. We can't wait to come back!!

The food is delicious. The portions are big and the service awesome. The restaurant was busy but the staff made everyone feel special

food is always delicious and the portions are huge. Would recommend to anyone!! been going for like 7 or 8 years. Best scallops around and service is friendly and fast.

I’ve been here a few times and from all my visits I have learned to stay away from the pasta dishes. They may be large but not the best. Ordered a large souvlaki on my last visit, meat was still borderline red-pink so I requested to have it boxed so I could reheat it at home, we’ve already been waiting for so long for the food given the number of items ordered. The server did offer to put the half eaten dish back on the grill … but I didn’t like the idea of putting a dish that I have already eaten and touched, on a grill where other people’s food is cooked on. Imagine if it were the other way around, you’d be served food that was cooked on a grill that someone’s half eaten meat was put back on. Overall, nice vintage decor, great portion size, service is okay. From all 3 visits, I’ve found there to be an issue each time, even if minor.

What a great place I can’t say enough good things about it. From the service to the cozy atmosphere to the delicious food it was WAY above average all the way around. Plenty of parking and lots of seating in the restaurant makes things very convenient. A large menu with many options to choose from you’re bound to find something you like and chances are they will make it really well. Portion sizes are large and the prices are reasonable for the amount of quality ingredient food you get. All the staff are super friendly and helpful and the food comes out fairly quick and always fresh. I hadn’t been here in years and it’s just as good if not better than how I remember it which is always a good thing so I’d highly recommend trying it out one day if you’re in that neck of the woods 💯🏆💯

Great old school dinner with friendly waiters and waitresses that know how to chat and crack jokes. The portions are large and it's good quality at a decent price. You can tell they've perfected their dishes since they're always consistent. The chopped beef steak is a great choice, the patty has a nice char while still being juicy and the gravy works well. It comes with fried onions, vegetables, and potatoes, I substitute for fries, which all work well. They start you off with the soup of the day. The large pork souvlaki dinner is to big to finish but that's ok, the left overs are just as good. It's a great place to eat at every once in awhile.

We went here for a celebratory lunch. We went here because we had been there many times before and we liked it. A short, older white-haired waitress served us and I wished we had gone somewhere else! First of all, they got nothing for vegetarians except salads so I ordered three eggs with potatoes. She rudely asked “That’s IT? No meat?!” She didn’t even ask what kind of bread I wanted, so I received white bread which I never order normally. This waitress had no smiles, no “You’re welcome” after my saying thank you, extremely rude, did not come around to ask how the food was, and just ruined the whole occasion. I’d thought she was a racist person who didn’t want to serve anyone but Caucasian people since I saw her serving other patrons rather much nicely. I was contemplating whether I should speak with the manager, but by the time the lunch was done, she started being nice all of a sudden, probably because she wanted a better tip. I didn’t want to ruin my daughter’s celebration so I didn’t talk to the manager. She even said “Come again” at the end. You’re right, I will NEVER return to this place thanks to you.

Great atmosphere great food great staff awesome keep coming back

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at this establishment and the price point for what you receive is unlike anywhere else! The plates come heaping with food! Spend 16.95 and get two-for-one! I ordered the small pork souvlaki. The pork pieces were marinated and cooked just fine. Served on a bed of rice, salad and a whole potato. The mushrooms in the rice were a nice surprise! <br/><br/>Also ordered was the chicken parmigiana. Presentation was great, the cheese was baked on the chicken and the pasta perfectly. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. The sauce on the pasta was light with a ton of flavour! A little on the sweet side for a tomato sauce but it worked really well with the whole dish.

Has to be one of our top places to go on our list. We now do go out of our way to come to Pete's the food is so good. it is not only so good, the staff is amazing and the prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of food.

2016/09/24<br/>We were in Mississauga at lunchtime on Saturday and I remembered seeing Peter's on Eglinton a few times before when we had driven by. The restaurant has large glass windows, and it was easy to see that there were always people inside, so it seemed to have a regular crowd. That was enough for me to want to give it a try when we had an opportunity to pass by again. <br/><br/>One of the first things that you see when walking in to the main dining room is the enormous upside down Tiffany style, stained glass light fixture. It is probably about 8 feet in diameter. There are also smaller stained glass light fixtures and crystal chandeliers around the restaurant, as well as stained glass panels at the top of the windows. The tables and chairs are a bit dated, but they do fit in with the overall style of the restaurant. <br/><br/>They subtitle themselves as a Restaurant & Deli, and we focused on their deli menu for lunch. SWMBO ordered the Tuna Salad Sandwich. At $14.95 it seemed a bit pricey, but the portion matched the price. The amount of tuna salad that was on the sandwich made it a challenge to finish (but she rose to the challenge). The filling itself was almost 2 inches high. Combine that with a good pile of fries, a good pile of cole slaw, and half a good kosher dill, the price was ok. It was big enough probably to share one meal for two people. <br/><br/>I had the Smoked Meat Combo for $15.95. Similar to SWMBO's, the portions were oversized. I really like my deli meat thinly sliced, which is how this sandwich is served. As we left the restaurant, I noticed under their main sign that they serve Lester's deli meat (from Montreal), which I also like.<br/><br/>A smaller dinner would have to be on the agenda.

The large souvlaki dinner is insanely large and quite tasty. I started with the French onion soup which was also very good but not the best I've ever had. I'd almost consider this place to be a sort of sit-down version of Zet's, but I'd give the edge to Zet's for better food overall. That in no way takes away from Peter's though. Great place!

Ok so I couldn't resist bumping up this review ahead of all my pending reviews. Peter's on Eglinton really impressed me and I have been yearning to write a review!😊<br/><br/>This little restaurant sits in the quiet outskirts of Mississauga. I love how the restaurant is. It's cute and really reminds me of a country bistro back in the days !😀 I went on a Saturday evening and place was quite busy but the service was very friendly and attentive despite of how busy it was, that really impressed me.<br/><br/>I didn't know what to choose, as their menu was quite elaborate and appealing. I landed on the firm staples of the eatery. The pork souvlaki (small), chicken brochette and onion rings. I have no idea why they call the souvlaki dinner I ordered 'small' and quite the contrary it was huge!😮 It was so tasty! I loved the way the meat was seasoned, so flavorful and from scratch. The sides were also done very well. You can't go wrong with fresh ingredients and and food that is made with care! 1.5 pounds of mouth watering goodness on one plate! 😊 The tzatziki was thick, compact and injected with full flavor. It wasn't the watered down 'salad dressing' tzatziki you find in some places. Thinking about how yumny it was makes my mouth water!😁 The chicken brochette was humungous. It must have been like four chicken breast put together. Despite of the size, the chicken was tender and like the souvlaki it was rich in flavor! Jokingly I asked our waitress if my souvlaki was the 'small', how big is the 'large'? She said: It's 2.5 pounds, bigger than you hunny.😄<br/><br/>I cannot say enough good things about Peter's on Eglinton. The warm family oriented ambience and excellent food, I can't ask for more. ☺When I first arrived I wondered why people at every table that was leaving asked for containers. I realize now after my food arrived that this is a ritual at Peter's. There is no way one can leave there without a doggie bag!😄 Will I be returning to Peter's on Eglinton? In a heart beat!❤..🍴🍛🍅🍞😊

Went to Peter's for lunch with a friend of mine. As soon as a I set foot in this resto, it felt like I was in another era. It was quite welcoming, bright and boy were they ever busy. We ordered the smoked meat sandwich and a large souvlaki dinner plate. The waitress had to ask us if we were sure we wanted the large size and said that even the small size was enough for the two of us. In the end, we still got the large size. The sandwich arrived first and it was quite a lot. Has lots of meat and so tasty! I ended up packing half the sandwich to go so I would have some room for the souvlaki. This place only serves pork souvlaki which was kind of disappointing since I prefer chicken. When the meal came, we could not believe how massive the dish was. It was as big as our heads! Salad tasted fresh but the souvlaki itself was ok. The meat was a little tough but enjoyed it nevertheless. We did end up taking half the meal home since we were full to the max. Service was a little slow but understandable since it was quite busy. The waitress was apologetic but she was quite efficient. It would have still been nice if they had the chicken souvlaki as an option.

It's been a while, but this used to be my regular go to for Greek food. Souvlaki in particular. Portions are huge and the tzaziki is wonderfully full of garlic. The place is busy on the weekends and lunch crowds during the week.
Tiny
I've only been here once and I did not enjoy it. I got the souvlaki dinner and they only have pork and it was so tough and hard to chew.. I'm not a big fan of pork in the first place but since they are "famous" for their souvlaki I tried it but I failed to enjoy it. Also the portions are HUGE! and I think it's silly that on the menu it asks you not to share your meal (so you can't order one meal and share between 2 people). or else they charge you. I'm not sure if this has changed since I've lasted visited though... I hear nothing but good things from everyone else who's been there but it's just not for me.

Water. Not terrible<br/><br/><br/>-----30 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Bland, huge portions and terrible service. It must have been good at one point, or it wouldn't have all these positive reviews. If you look for them, real reviews do exist. The food is bland and made form cheap ingredients. Strangely someone in the kitchen is desperately trying to make good food as the food was cooked well, but was completely devoid of seasoning. The food was bad, but paled in comparison to the service. We were seated quickly, but the waiter was disinterested and rude. Dinner orders were taken, and appetizers came quickly. The soup was fine, and we had almost an hour to enjoy it before we inquired about our mains. All of a sudden, they were coming right up! A couple of meals came up, but then another delay before the rest of the mains came out. The temperature was fine, but bland, bland, bland. If you have no need for taste, the portions are huge, so there's that, I guess. Definitely would NOT recommend under any circumstances.

The Caesar Salad was first to arrive and the plate was massive. It was more than what the four of us could finish. The Super Combo munchie platter was equally gargantuan, a plate with generous servings of ribs, chicken wings, breaded shrimp, chicken fingers and fries. Even with the four of us digging into it, it was just too much even if they said it was good for two.
CQ
I had the smoked meat sandwich it was great just like in Montreal! Big portions and satisfying flavours! Warm atmosphere. Definitely going back

Terrible. Was a terrible experience, the owner served us and he was so rude and irrogant.Food is not too bad but I wont go just for the food.<br/>Old place and I dont recommend it to any one.

Good food- large portions but doesn't mean they have to be rude- lacking social skills big time. I went there for my parents 50th wedding anniversary- there were 19 of us and they wouldn't even gave us the small room to ourselves- they crammed us in with other people- it was hot {like a sweatbox}.......... we waited forever for the food of course because they had to deliver the food at the same time- I get it- we were a larger group but they were rushing us out----- totally rude to us- I brought my own cake- they made such a big deal about cutting it --- like please go away we'll take care of it........... they were horrible and I'm spreading the word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dad's 80th birthday is coming up and the first thing all us said was NO Pete's ON EGLINTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Big deal they gave big portions............ what difference does it make if you have no time to eat! A ton of places to eat in Mississauga- trust me you get 10X better service at the same price!

Lousy Service, Awful Julienne Salad. Since I decided on the Julienne salad, I expected it to arrive first as there was no cooking involved. I received it last of our group of 6, and the dressing came about 10 mins later. It's pretty much a meal on it's own, with roast beef, turkey, cooked ham, boiled egg slices and Swiss cheese with blue cheese dressing. The 'Swiss cheese' was actually Kraft slices of white cheese, which I never eat. After all, it's processed cheese! A molecule or 2 away from plastic. As for the dressing, I'm not sure what it was. It tasted a bit like Roka blue cheese with tziki sauce in it...about the farthest thing from blue cheese dressing I've ever experienced. And the lettuce was brown around the edges, not fresh at all.<br/>Another diner at our table had the fish and chips, and was rather disappointed that the fries were not fresh, but actually frozen fries...something I would NOT expect with the above-average prices.<br/>As for the service, it seemed after placing our orders, our waiter went on a break. After bringing our food, which wasn't a terribly long wait, we didn't see him again for about another 15 mins...not even a 'how's everything so far?' visit.<br/>All in all, a place I would not want to visit again...even for free.

A friend and I were desperately looking for a place for breakfast on a Sunday morning when we stumbled upon this gem. it was a relatively quiet morning at this location and the staff were very attentive. I had a Spanish omelette while my friend had the pastromi sandwich. the food was good, reminded me food you would cook at home, but what's to write about are the proportions. the meal was a bit on the pricer side for breakfast but it'll keep me full for most of the day. hidden gem, go discover it yourself, it's worth it.

Huge Portions, Amazing Food. So many amazing choices from this place. Their deli sandwiches are huge and very tasty. Their pork souvlaki dinner is also authentic and large as well. Great place to bring your family and some buddies to mow down on some great food.

Decent Food, Inconsistent Service. Peter's used to be my favourite place to get breakfast food. The food is good, and their large portions are enough to feed me for two meals. The service, however, makes me never want to go back. I'm pretty sure it gets worse every time I go there. The last straw was when one of the servers poured a significant amount of some sort of unknown liquid from her tower of dishes and cups onto my jacket and purse. Never going back. Sorry Peter's.

Food great. Had breakfast/lunch food was great and big portions, waiter was friendly and courteous will be back!!!

Disappointing Service. We went to the restaurant with 6 of us and have to say that the service was disappointing......<br/>This was our second time there and although the food is big in portions and relatively good, the wait staff was rude and not friendly at all, making this a restaurant we will not go back to.

Very nice dining room. It's more of a family dining place. The food is on good/average side. The service is good. The portions are big!

Not what it once was. What a shame. this used to be one of our fave spots to have a nice classic meal, but the prices and quality isn't the same anymore. first off, the souvlaki has taken a hit big time, sure the servings are massive, but when the meat is totally overdone, not juicy or tender, does it really matter if the servings are huge? and sadly, their prices have gone up, WAY UP. we understand as time goes on, prices need to go up. but not a few dollars off of every menu item! literally everything has gone up in price. if it were more gradual, that would be more understandable, we are reasonable ppl. but not hikes of prices like this place.
Lovesfood112
Portion and Meat Quality Win. The amount of food portion you get at this place is next level. I've never had portions this big. After frequent visits i finally decided to try the liver,( which 90 percent of places always overcook in my opinion) i was very satisfied with it ( for how fast i got it i was impressed). I think some people may mistake the professionalism of the staff for arrogance and rudeness, i find the staff are very " proper" to put a word too it, you'll see me again there for sure!

Bottom line. Food is tasty, extremely large portions, cheap for the quantity. service is average at best, some waitresses/waiters are good, others are rude. sometimes food comes out fast, when they are busy food takes forever to come<br/><br/>been there too many times and will keep going back, 7/10

Know what you're getting into. I've been going to Peters for many, many years. When you walk in, you know what to expect. Huge variety, huge portions, great value, and clogged arteries. Sure, you can get a gigantic salad, but it's the plate full of fried calamari, the fish and chips, the burgers and onion rings, the mile high smoked meat sandwich, and the souvlaki that brings you back. The quality is typically above average, though the souvlaki is on the dry side, and the smoked meat isn't as good as Montreal, but overall, there's a reason it's on my list when I'm in the area.

Souvlaki dinner and Large platter portions. Come with the family monthly. Amazing roast beef sandwiches, always take some home as the size is massive. If you come here definitely will leave full! Try the platters for 2 with shrimp, chicken fingers ribs and fries. The hidden gem is the souvlaki dinner (even the small dinner is large portion lol). Family restaurant nice ambience and amazing service! Also take-out available.

Delicious and friendly. I went for lunch with my grandmother, aunt and mother on a Thursday in the heart of lunch rush, and was prepared for slow or miserable service after reading others reviews on urbanspoon. Boy was I surprised. Not only was the service efficient while the restaurant was full to the max, but the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. <br/><br/>I ordered the roast beef sandwich with a Caesar, and I shared in some calamari that we ordered to start. The food was really delicious, with the Caesar salad dressing being obviously homemade, and the roast beef was freshly carved. The calamari was not too chewy and was done in a tasty batter, while the portion sizes of all the items bordered on ridiculous. All four of us went home with doggie bags. <br/><br/>Whatever others have said, this is clearly a favourite spot of many, because the place was wall-to-wall people, and I look forward to returning to try the club sandwich that I spied on a few other tables, as it looked awesome.

Best calamari anywhere, great souvlaki, awesome deli sandwiches. Go hungry! Portions are huge.
BeenThereDoneThat
Great Food; Service Not So Much. Generous portions, great quality. Easily one of the best club sandwiches I've ever had, fresh cut fries and even the coleslaw is solid. Also usually do the brochette and am always surprised to see how moist the chicken stays.<br/><br/>As much as I love the food, I have to agree with one of the more recent comments - the service here has gone down the drain. Rude, arrogant and just overall cold.<br/><br/>Not going to lie, I've resorted to take-out from here. Just isn't the same.
Melissa Ong
Delish!. I love their smoked meat sandwiches. The portions are huge and I can never finish so I always take it home. I've also tried their souvlaki and lasagna which are also good, but the sandwiches are my favourite
JimBob
Grrrrrreat !. This family owned restaurant specializes in generous portions of great food at a good price. The souvlaki is out of this world; tasty, tender and moist and the greek salad is awesone. The corned beef and montreal smoked meat sandwiches are piled really thick, and their halibut is second to none. There isn't an item on the menu not worth having.

Wtf happened to this place???. I'm not sure if this place has been taken over by new management or what? But if you are or should say was a fan of the great food amazing portions and warm welcoming staff, and you have recently visited then you would have noticed that nothing about peters is like nothing at all to how it was. I went there this evening with my family excited for we have not been there in some time, and the food took forever to get to the table, tasted horrible was cold, and to top it off ALL of the staff was incredibly RUDE!! <br/>They have not only lost me and my family's business but as many people that I can spread the word out too!! <br/>Well NEVER go again!!!!
Emily
The worst experience I have EVER had eating out! As soon as we were seated a clutzy waitress asked my mother if she would like a drink. She said just water please. Without asking anyone else at the large table, she left and came back with 2 pitchers of water, filled every glass while also pouring water all over the table, our iPhones and laps. Oh not to mention REACHING rudely over us and almost knocking a few of us in the head. Waiting waiting waiting... We couldn't order drinks or appetizers because our waitress was MIA. Then again, we didn't really know if we had a waitress because no one introduced themselves to us. To make a long story short, we had our food about an hour and 20 minutes later! I was so embarrassed to have suggested to my large family to have dinner there. All evening we were treated miserably! Then when it came to pay, 3 of the staff came with debit machines! 3 staff! Where were you when we needed to be served during our meals! I guess taking our money is the most important part! We were rushed out very quickly! The staff started cleaning our table while we were still collecting out things and trying to leave! It was disgusting! Absolutely unacceptable. And for a place that looks like it needed a make over 40 years ago, you think they'd at least have their customer service going for them! I will never eat there again. I have to appologize to my family now and I will DEFINETELY NEVER say a good thing about that place again. The food sucked too.
Lydia
What a disappointment :( My.... What a disappointment :(<br/>My husband and I have been going for many years (8+) and actually it was one of the first places we ate when we started dating. We always ranted to family and friends about the portions and even the service from our wait staff.<br/>Unfortunately this evening was not the case... :(<br/>We were celebrating my dads 70th birthday and were embarrassed for suggesting Peters. Our group of 8 adults, 3 toddlers and 2 infants were squeezed at a table where the chairs arms were touching each other and you struggled to move any which way. We then waited 35mins before my sister decided to ask if we could order our drinks and possibly even appetizers. No one asked us if we wanted anything. Eventually our food arrived, 1hour and 10mins later and then the fun began... No ketchup, things missing and the hot water that I had ordered to mix my 7month olds cereal was still no where to be found (30mins it takes to order hot water, ridiculous!)<br/>Of course I'm feeling a little bad Because its my dads 70th and we're getting treated like crap, no ones happy and the kids are hungry! To top off this wonderful night, one person asked for a doggy bag and one of the managers comes over a minute later with the debit machine demanding my husbands card.... Thanks for rushing us. As some of us begin putting on coats and others are still sitting 3 of the waitresses rush over and start cleaning the table... My sister got hit with a 'wet table cleaning cloth' and my mom got pushed a couple times. <br/>I am sad to say, that was the last time I will ever step into that restaurant... I drove 1hr from Brantford to join in a special celebratory dinner for my father's 70th birthday and I'm starting to think that McDonalds would have done just fine... At least I get a smile with my meal :(<br/>HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!

The biggest sandwich around. Tried the super smoked meat. eat half and took the rest home. <br/><br/>Now i won't go as far as saying this is authentic MTL style smoked meat, however it was very tasty, came with loads of fries and slaw and the sandwich itself was massive, which left me very satisfied. <br/><br/>I'm looking forward to going back again to try the breakfast or the famous souvlaki.
FeedMyPouch
Go hungry. HUGE portions. The souvlaki is awesome and so are some of the desserts.

Great Place!. This is the first time that I had been ever been to this place. My boyfriend had been here before and highly recommended it. From the outside, the place looks really big however, on the inside, it isn't as large as it appears. When we first walked in, we had to wait about two minutes for someone to approach and seat us. It was lunch on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy when we walked in. As soon as we sat down, we were given menus right away. We were overwhelemed by how much was on the menu; we didn't know what to order. We eventually settled on the western sandwich and the cheeseburger with fries. We also wanted to order the chicken wings and fries but our server advised against it as it was going to be too much food. We were glad that she did as it was definitely a lot of food! The food came out within fifteen minutes of us ordering it. The western sandwich was good, a bit dry, but it was pretty good. There was a large portion of fries, with a large scoop of coleslaw. The coleslaw was probably the best I had ever had. It didn't have too much vinegar or salt. The service was also excellent. Many servers came by to fill up our water glasses and to ask if everything was okay. We felt well taken care of by all of the wonderful servers. The price of both of our meals was also very reasonable. I would definitely come back to this place, and I would recommend you give it a try as you won't be disappointed!
Elaine
The food is good, nothing special though. But the portion sizes are huge! More than half ended up being taken home!
Eb
Always stuffed..... We have eaten here any number of times and the portions are huge. We ate here July 4 and both wife and I had BLT's as we didn't want too much to eat. Needless to say the sandwiches were huge with massive fries and coleslaw. The server was quick and friendly. I managed to finish my Bee El Tee sandwich, which was good, but wife only got through half of hers so our server packed up what we couldn't eat to take home. I had the rest of the wife's sandwich and most of the fries for lunch yesterday and the rest of the fries and some coleslaw for dinner last night and finished off the coleslaw at lunch today. BTW, the coleslaw was tasty.

The Best Souvlaki dinner in Toronto!. If you go here, the souvlaki dinner is a must to order...I have eaten at many of the Greek restaurants on the Danforth and this is the best souvlaki dinner I've had anywhere. Everything on the plate is delicious and more food then most can eat in one sitting.

They have good food and huge portions

Nothing Compares to Peter's.. It's all about either the Souvlaki dinner or the corn beef sandwiches. Amazing value, this is my favourite restaurant on the west end. I always make it a challenge to be able to finish my meal without taking it home.
F.C.
The best corn beef anywhere. Get the super and be full all day long. Corn beef is juicy, hot and great size. I haven't tried other item but I'm sure it's great. I come here for the corn beef and prastrami sandwiches. I have been coming here now for 5 years. Never had a bad meal! Really it's that good.
Easy Going
Big portions. Make sure you go with an appetite. The portions are huge. We ordered the corn beef sandwich and it definitely was big enough for two to share and delicious.
Shelley
You'll love it if you eat like a fat man. Cute family ambiance inside. Portion sizes are crazy. I got the pasta with ham, and it could easily have fed me solid for a week, only it was really disgusting. It's usually hard to screw up pasta, but this was just not good.
Ryan
U better be hungry..had the pea and Ham soup..was like a mother made it with love I had the rueben with fries and coleslaw..u better be hungry cuz its like two meals in one..and I'm a big eater I never pack food to go..not this time Everything is good quality even to the forks..great place for a casual lunch..gets busy too
Nucc
Just the right size portions for my gut. Even I had to ask for a doggy bag.

Amazing service! There was never a point when my glass was less than 2/3 full. It was constantly being refilled by different servers. Food was very tasty. Huge portions. Great price. Loved the crispy, golden brown halibut. Ambience was homely. Felt like such a small town restaurant. It was absolutely lovely.
George
Lots of Food. Lots of food cheap.... but where's the taste and flavour ?<br/><br/>Restaurant is showing wear from the years however the one crucial ingredient missing is flavour. This is the type of place where you order something, out comes the frozen package and straight into the fryer it goes. If Ketchup, Mustard and piled high of ersatz edibles are your thing then this place is nirvana for you.
AJB
GIGANTIC PORTIONS!!. We went to Peter's on a Sunday at 1:30 pm and the place was surprisingly busy! The service was lacking - there obviously weren't enough servers (they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off), Our server never came to ask how our meals were, she did not refill our waters until we asked and even then it was a mission to get her attention. Considering how busy this place is you would have thought they would have a few more servers or at least someone just running drinks. That being said the food makes up for the service in a way. The portions at Peter's are absolutely massive!! As a family of 4 we ordered the fish and chips, chicken en broche, pastrami sandwich and the super smoked meat sandwich... This was enough to feed a small army!! But while the portions are generous the food for the most part was utterly average with the exception of the fish which was crispy, flaky and lightly breaded and the pastrami which was soft, and meaty. I found the rice with the chicken to be bland as was the Greek salad. The fries were over cooked and starchy. The chicken was very nicely seasoned but my only qualm was the it was super charred! The coleslaw was very good though and the chicken soup to start was tasty as well! We will probably go back (when VERY hungry) but will order only 2 meals to split between the 4 of us. Overall it was decent experience.

A Religious Experience for Big Appetites.. If you answer "yes" to any of the following - Peter's on Eglinton is the place for you.<br/><br/>- Are you a dude or dudette that loves to eat, and can suck back massive quantities of food?<br/>- Are you a family man looking to feed a family with good food for a reasonable cost?<br/>- Are you a senior looking to split a plate of food with your "dinner friend", leave satisfied, and not break the fixed income? <br/>- Are you a hungry human simply looking for an airy atmosphere, with wide padded seating, friendly service, decent food and king sized portions?<br/><br/>This is it. <br/><br/>Pete's is like a new found religion - once you've tried it . . . you convert. We all love Pete's - and those that don't . . . <br/>I'll pray for you.

Are you kidding?. I anticipated going to this restaurant as I had heard so much about it. What a disappointment. The food was mediocre at best and the prices are a little unreasonable. Our appetizers were deep fried, frozen bites that came with old brown celery sticks and the souvlaki dinner was over cooked. The ambience was uncomfortable and tired. I would not go back.

At Peter's on Eglinton there appears to be "consistancy" in the quality of food from visit to visit. Over a period of time one can expect "good food every time". Often I order takeout because both my wife and I have never been disappointed. Also they serve HUGE PORTIONS very tastefully prepared. I usually THINK "Peter's" when I'm real hungry and don't want to cook! THUMBS UP every time!!! - DERRILL & JANE GALLANT

Great deli sandwiches. Portions are rediulous. Prices are high in comparison to other compatible restaurants. I would prefer a reasonible portion at a reasonible price.

Unpardonable. The food is mediocre, but they do give you a lot of it. Never again, however, will I eat at a place that undercooks the chips on an order of fish `n`chips. Dealbreaker!

The place is good and the people who own it live on my street

Surprisingly upset. My wife and I had heard about the restaurant through friends that were happy with the food and portions.<br/>We were surprised from the first dish up to the last.<br/>Chicken gumbo soup was cold, the calamari were't bad but not great, barely had any batter on them. The worst had to have been my wife's lasagna that looked like a plate full of sloppy joe's,and my chicken parmiggana was tough and the cheese covering it was think and hard NOT FRESH.We were there to book my little girls FIRST COMMUNION PARTY,unfortunatley not going to happen. My wife had only 1/2 a fork of her entree and told the waitress that she was not happy, nothing was done about it.Anyways the total bill came to $68.00 tip included. It was the worst$ 68.00 we have ever spent, literally. Can I suggest smaller portions and more QUALITY.It's unfortunate that nothing will come from this review. My wife and I felt that it was necessary that our experience be public.I am an avid restaurant attendee, and have extensive food knowledge haveing been in Downtown toronto for about 15 years,I have eaten at anumber of fine restaurants that CARE about what they serve and not the size of each PLATTER.<br/>Please respond if necessary. Thank you, Silvio

Food portions are very large. Service, some waitresses are rude. Besides service, food quality is very tasty. Overall is very good.

Good food.... Great food, a classic place. All of the fare here has been good - although once it seemed we got a bum chef who was overcooking everything.<br/><br/>Order the SMALL souvlaki - even if you are VERY hungry.

Great deli sandwiches. The portions are gigantic - if you're going with someone I'd suggest sharing.<br/><br/>A very busy, bustling restaurant, casual...

If you live in Mississauga/Brampton and haven’t gone to Peter’s yet, YOU MUST GET OFF YOUR A** AND GO. The souvlaki is amazing and gigantic-ly portioned. See for yourself.<br/>

I’d go as far as to say that it’s the meatloafiest meatloaf burger that I’ve ever had .  The flavour of the beef is absolutely annihilated by all the spices and miscellanea in the burger.

Mike and I were craving Peter's on Eglinton to stuff our faces. Mike had the small souvlaki dinner which was enormous. I had the smoked meat sandwich which was also enormous. It was so enormous, that I took the meat of half a sandwich and leftover co

If you're looking for an American dining experience, look no further! Your typical family restaurant, down to the wait staff. I had a turkey sandwich. No lunch meat here, just fresh turkey, piled high! The place was quite expensive, I must say. $13.95 for a turkey sandwich did seem a bit excessive. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well (pasta, chicken cesar, ...).
