Review The Big Scoop Family Restaurant - Middleton

Lunch was delicious. My wife and I both agreed, and we're not usually impressed with eating out, to be honest. We shared scallops and fries and fish and mashed between us, and were surprised and delighted at how good everything tested. We actually tasted the fish and the scallops, not just the batter. Everything was deep fried just right as well. I've eaten there before, and was impressed that the vegetables were all fresh, not frozen. Service was fine, the wait was not long.

This restaurant uses an insanely cold air conditioning temeprature. If you dont wan to be frozen to death, dont come here. This place was bustling with patrons when we were there which we always take as a good sign. Basic food, but good staff and they offer take out as well. I had the seafood chowder, which was great. You can also get all the standard fare here of chicken fingers, fries, burgers, etc. They had a party of 80 when we arrived so we couldn't get space, but they have patio you can use, or picnic tables on the back lawn. We chose the picnic tables and got the food to take away. In the sun and warmth.

Very poor service sat for over a half hour while other customers after our arrival was being served asked if we was getting served worker explained she forgot to mark our table in for customer waiting so no waitress knew to come over, again waiting another 20 minutes but still no waitress was there to to our order even, worker had bad attitude when asked if we was going to be served. Instead just was told to leave Other customers where leaving due to not being served. I would leave a negative review if was able to. Very poor customer service very poor friendly atmosphere. I don’t think it was an off day but, I think it’s poorly organized. Would never recommend eating here.

We had a club house sandwich which was excellent and haddock bits which were just ok. Fish did not taste fresh, not bad just not great. Home cut fries were very good. Staff was friendly. Generous portions. It was 3 pm when we were there so it was not busy. Only 1 other table occupied, waitress sat us at the table next to the occupied one maybe 3 feet away. Too close for my Covid comfort level. We moved to a different table no problem.

Always a hot and tasty meal no matter what I order. Pleasant staff. Fast efficient friendly service. Value for the prices charged. Clean and orderly setup. This is my go to place when we are in Middleton.

Reading the review below by Mindy Connolly about the Big Scoop Restaurant , is far from the truth. My wife and I were present at the time Mindy was in the restaurant, and everyone was shocked on the way she acted and talked to the waitress’s . First of all Mindy didn’t sit as long as she said she did while waiting for someone to wait on her. There is not one person who works at the Big Scoop with a bad attitude. Mindy was not asked to leave at all , it was her own choice to leave with the bad attitude, mouth wise. There were no other customers leaving because they were not served , they only left because they finished their meals. When Mindy left I heard her tell the help that she would never be back again and she planned to spread the word that she would not recommend the Big Scoop. Well my wife and I have been coming here for years , great food , great service, friendly staff, what more could you ask for , plus read all of the reviews, 99% are great . In this case I would not want one bad apple spoil the barrel. Everyone should come and see for yourself, great place to enjoy a nice meal. Thanks

Happy discovery on the highway. Fresh local fish and hand cut fries, generous portions and good value. Nondescript appearance belies the quality of house made meals

Food was subpar. I ordered the fish and chips with the house made fries, my husband got the burger with house made fries and my daughter got the haddie bits kids meal. All of our fries were barely warm and soggy. The fish was good and the coleslaw amazing. My husband said there was nothing special about the hamburger. The haddie bits kids meal was 8.99 and only came with 4 small haddock bits and with cold soggy fries, definitely wasn’t worth it. Food was edible but wasn’t great. Maybe it was just an off day which is why I gave three stars.
