Review Kate's Kountry Kitchen - Markstay

Absolutely charming place! We were greeted warmly at the door and seated promptly. Great bottomless coffee came right away. Classic diner style menu, but we were there for breakfast. Eggs any style, homemade sausage, thick cut peameal bacon, pancakes, French toast, shredded potato hash browns, and homemade bread. Delicious! The shop attached was filled with lovely things, from homemade soap and candles to local woodcraft, knitted scarves, jams, jellies and flours. Local food products like sausages and cheese were in a large fridge/freezer. And oh! the bakery - breads and sweet treats that are divine! Reasonably priced. Lots of parking and turn around space for truckers and RVs. Staff are efficient and super friendly.

Considered by locals as one of the best roadside restaurant, it's located in the outskirts of Sudbury right on the Trans Canada highway. Great appearance, huge parking lot, quick service, great choices in the menu, large plates, and quite affordable.

A little bit of heaven on the highway. Wow! Me and my family just started stopping here on our trips to Sudbury. So glad this place was recommended by a friend. Huge portions, delicious food, great prices, fresh food, friendly staff, what more could you want? Be sure to check out their homemade deserts and frozen selection of homemade meals in the restaurant. You can’t go wrong here!

Went by this place numerous times before trying it out. Always wanted to but we never seemed to be there at meal time. Now, every time we go to Sudbury we stop here for a meal no matter what the time, sometimes on the way there and on the way back home. Excellent food, something for everyone and those desserts! Usually too full to have there but buy plenty to take home. Their Caesar salad is top notch. The food does lean towards high calorie/high sodium content but that is exactly what one would expect in a 'truck stop' type restaurant such as this.

I would say the best place to eat on hwy 17 by far. Always good service and food. Even when busy can stop in and be served, eat, pay in under a half hour. Loads of room to park as well. Nice, polite, friendly staff also.

We stopped here on our way home from Marathon on the recommendation of the gentleman at the Trading Post down the road. So glad we did! Huge portions, delicious food and prompt and friendly service. Also got to shop as they have lovely homemade jams, sauces, soaps, etc and you can even buy a homemade pie! Highly recommend the fish and chips and the homemade soup was so good we got another to go! My son recommends the turtle pie if you have a sweet tooth. We will definitely stop again when we are up that way.

Went here from Sudbury for a change of venue.. Ordered hot turkey sandwiches for two of us and the third person had the salmon special..Got the closed face sandwich. They only have open faced on the menu.. Don't know why they do this but ended up charging 75 cents extra for that piece of bread... Finally, we have been here before and no complaints but for whatever reason, there was tons of gravy on the sandwich but minimal turkey. Had to take the piece of bread of the top to find the turkey. Must have been a bad day for the cook.. Hopefully, this was a one time only experience.. Other than that,we have always enjoyed going here..
