Great place for people who loves Japanese food! Food is great and cheap, We had a party of 10, everyone loved everything we ordered! There were also many desserts such as the ice creams and many differt flavours of pudding! overall , I love everything in this restaurant, the inside design also looked very cool and fancy! will defiantly visit again!
The food here is pretty good for an ayce, but man they must use alot of sodium because everyone was super dehydrated afterwards. They have black sesame ice cream which is something you don't find at most establishments. I would not go out of my way to eat here or make plans to return, but if someone was hosting an event here I wouldn't refuse.
I really liked how efficient and fast the service was. The servers were all very courteous, respectful, and professional. All of the food that we ordered arrived to our table (no order was missed) in a reasonable amount of time. I took a quick look at online reviews after my visit and noticed that some people complained about the service. I actually really thought their service was more than decent and appreciated how the male server was so courteous and respectful to all the customers. It was a good experience and meal at Syogun Sushi Bar!
AYCE quality can always be kind of iffy, but Syogun was definitely one of the more impressive ones that I've been to. I thought the quality of the food was actually very good. On the weekends, they have AYCE sweet shrimp which is always a plus. The place itself is pretty cool as they have a giant sushi bar and private rooms where you can sit on the floor (you even are asked to take off your shoes).
We ordered quite a bit and there was a lot of choices for weekend dinner ($24.99 pp). The sashimi selection was pretty large with unique items being sweet shrimp and beef tataki. The salmon, surf clam, and buterfish tasted fresh and came served onto a giant boat. The beef tataki was wonderful as it was a perfect rare and lying in a bed of onion, cilantro and lime. The sweet shrimp was good, but rather small. They were flying off the boat though so we had to keep ordering quite a bit throughout the night.
They have a variety of hot foods as well, but I was impressed by the grilled scallops and wasabi mussels. The grilled scallops are cooked in shell with a bit of a creamy mayo sauce layered on top. The wasabi mussels were interesting as it was a creamy wasabi mayo that had the wasabi flavor without any of the hurt. The grilled eggplant and short ribs were very good. The ribs were thick and meaty with not much fat attached so I enjoyed those. Ox Tongue was good. I was expecting some thin slices, but they were huge chunks on a stick, which turned me off of it a bit.
Service was iffy. Every time the servers came by to take our order, they just sighed and looked as though they hated life and didn't want to be bothered by us. I hate that the ordering method is telling the server. They really need to bring a fill in paper form, because I don't think the servers want to be writing down every shouting request that our larger party had. Definitely still worth coming to though.
For lunch with the familia while visiting them over in Toronto for the Easter long weekend, we stopped off for a super inexpensive and tasty all you can eat sushi buffet at Syogun. While the sushi and cooked items isn't outstanding, they are still pretty tasty - if you're not too picky about presentation, its pretty awesome... and you can't beat the all you can eat pricing. And FYI, they take cash or debit only. With the all you can eat pricing, you get your choice of unlimited canned pop or green tea. Its busy busy in here, so if your first list of orders you wanted to eat doesn't all come out (you're given a pencil and a stack of blank note paper as you peruse the menu), assume its forgotten and scribble it down on your second, third or fourth request for food to the kitchen. We started with a round of sushi nigiri. From top left going clockwise: tuna, salmon rose, mackeral, spicy chop chop, inari, hamachi, salmon. While the pieces are a bit on the small side, its all you can eat so just order more if you like. The seafood was fresh and the sushi rice nicely seasoned. Next out was the Eel Avocado Maki. Gently grilled and sauced, it was very similar to the BBQ eel cucumber maki we also ordered - tasty! I had reservations about the wasabi mussels - was it going to be so spicy it clears your sinuses or have the wasabi flavours overwhelm the mussels? But luckily, neither was the case - the steamed mussels were topped with a creamy almost hollandaise like sauce that had just a hint of wasabi. We needed some veggies, so we had some Edamame, or Broiled salted soy beans. (don't eat the exterior! Just hull them like sweet peas fresh from the garden!) I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and tastiness of the Salmon bone soup. It had a few pieces of soft tofu in it and was a rich, savoury unami nomnomnom. Then, we had some rolls - On left - Spicy salmon roll, on right - Shrimp tempura maki roll. Preferred the shrimp tempura roll over the heavily sauced spi
I've been coming to Syogun for years. I've seen them go through a few changes including their most recent upgrades. My wife and I love sushi and have had it in many restaurants. I can say that without a doubt Syogun has the freshest and best tasting sushi. Their menu offers the standard all-you-can-eat items but "specialty" items can often be requested. They also have a fantastic kitchen menu. They have been adding new and creative dishes. So far I had yet to find a better sushi restaurant - a la cart or AYCE.
A lot of variety of hot dishes and sushi. Made with care. Great for $12.99+tax+10%tips
One of my guilty pleasures was to give in to shrimp tempura cravings. The best way to cure this craving for unlimited quantities of shrimp tempura was to go to a cook-to-order-eat-all-you-can Japanese Restaurant. My sister Ayen was the one who got me started to go to Syogun. For years now, we keep on coming back to this same restaurant and we have our fill of tempura and sashimi.
Amazing sushi place! This is one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to. I absolutely love the service and the staff. They are very spirited and will make small jokes while at the table. The food is very fresh and has a great variety. If you do go to this place, their Kitchen Special Grilled Scallop is delicious and comes with four, it is the most popular dish along with Mango Tango Roll. I highly recommend this place as their service and quality of food is stellar. The price is very reasonable for the quality and the vast variety of food you can order.
