Review Los Chicos Brasa - Markham

Johnothan Paulino
One of the Best Peruvian Rotisserie Places. I have been going to this Place for many years and every single time the rotisserie chicken always hits and if you add the sauces that have spices added to it. It gives the chicken an extra kick that makes everything so much better. My typical order is the Whole chicken and the Yuca fries but I have tried many of there other items and everything is delicious. If you are near the markham area I would recommend anybody to check them out they are absolutely a restaurant gem and always consistent.

Not sure where to start... This showed up when searched "Pasta". I guess once upon a time... Place is over all nice and interesting design. Cozy and comfortable. Ordered two dish. One is a salad. Both are overly heavy in sauce, maybe that's the style of Peruvian cuisine, in that case, excuse my lack of understanding. And after checked other's review and photos. Seems the menu changed dramatically. Not sure if switched owner or business switched hand. Staff is friendly and nice service. So. Will say over all is ok. Nothing a place would crave to return again tho.

Bad experience For Ceviche they are using the pre-made lime juice Lomo Saltado with cherry tomatoes, really? I believe that Roma Tomato is cheaper . No excuse. Also, it was super salty it seems like the sauce was made from soy sauce only. Papa a la Huancaina, the sauce was watery. Maracuya Sour, it looks like a Maracuya chilcano, no pisco at all

Food was delicious. There are shareable plates on the menu too. Went with the famous Peruvian pollo a la brasa. Chicken was tender and flavourful. Service was also good. Will definitely be going again.

I loved the ceviche. The lomo saltado steak was a little dry but the ceviche was excellent. It's a raw dish so I just hope it was prepared properly because I don't wanna get sick nor have parasites. I'm guessing it's safe because they serve it. I've never had it before but I loved it. Will definitely stop by again.

Lover everything about this place. The ambience....music...food...server...most imp the portions are huge. The shareables will be good for 4 ppl to be honest.we loved the deep fried seafood platter .the only thing I want to suggest is they need sparkling water in their menu pls.thanks

We got the Lomo saltado and the chicken with a side of fries. Agree with the other reviews about saltiness. Everything was very salty, to the point of being inedible. From the fries, chicken, and the sauce in the Lomo saltado. It's a shame because the seasoning other than the saltiness was good, but it's just way too salty.

I came here a year ago (March 2017) and had an average experience. While the food was delicious, I wasn't too impressed with the service nor the portion sizes. This all changed earlier this week when one of the owners reached out to me personally (Javier). He thanked me for the constructive feedback and invited me to give it another shot, even offering a complimentary dessert. I decided to take him up on his offer for Valentine's Day Dinner with my wife. We were immediately greeted by a friendly face and seated at a table for 2. The server (Trinidad) was friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. Within minutes, I knew the service was going to be awesome. We ordered from the set menu, included Ceviche for apps, Half Chicken Dinner and Lomo Saltado for entrees, and Helado de Lucuma and Picarones for dessert (we decided to try both desserts with our comp dessert). Every food item was delicious, flavourful and satisfying. I especially love the freshly made yuca fries in their green sauce. I'm salivating just thinking of this. I could continue to rave about each of the dishes, but I want to just highlight the extra mile they went to over-deliver. Not many restaurant owners (and people in general for that matter) truly value constructive feedback. Despite having many rave reviews already, Javier reached out and personally ensured I was 100% satisfied. Los Chicos delivered an incredible culinary experience with top notch service. Wait times can be a bit long when the restaurant is busy, but the food is well worth a slight wait. I'm glad I gave this place another shot :) -- Review from March 13, 2017, Los Chicos Markham -- Food delicious (8/10). Portion sizes mediocre (6/10). Service disappointing (2/10). Overall: 3/5. When I first entered this place, I felt transported to another world. The ambiance, smell, and decor did an amazing job to set the tone. First impressions were also strong with friendly staff and smiling faces. We were seated at one of the last tables (6 of us). It was a busy (Sun afternoon), which is a good thing. Here is where things took a slight turn downhill. After we were seated, we waited for what felt like 15-20 minutes before we asked for water. While we were having a good time, we started getting fairly thirsty quickly. After getting up to get the attention of a server, they brought us water. After the initial service, they never refilled our empty glasses / pitchers. I didn't ask for a refill, and was curious if they would check on us. While I will be more proactive next time, my experience has been servers checking in when our glasses were empty. As we were looking at the menus, I noticed the takeout menu is a few dollars cheaper than the sit-down menu. Not sure why, but something to note. After taking our orders, it took a long time for our food to come. And while I understand the place is busy and people have off days, it seemed our table was specifically ignored. We had to go out of our way to get the attention of staff, while other tables would be proactively approached by the wait staff & owner/manager. We had a similar experience waiting for the bill. There was a long wait time after eating before having to ask for the bill, followed by another long period before having to get the attention of another server to ask for our bill. I've seen a few other positive reviews and have no doubt this place is excellent. If you haven't had Peruvian chicken, I highly recommend checking this place out. It's like Swiss Chalet, but with better and more exotic flavours -- though smaller portion sizes. I definitely plan to check this place out again. While our experience with their service was poor this past weekend, I'm sure it was just a one-off. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is eclectic. I'm looking forward to giving this place another shot :)

I went to the location at vaughan to watch the peru vs denmark and the service was not only slow but it was totally rude.. I waited for my change over 20 min and there was no-one in the restaurant,so i wasn’t busy.No one would come and five it to me so i went to the counter...they lost my bill we told them how much it was ...they didnt have change for a 100 dollars and the bill was for 70...they finally collect the change over the waiters and then after that i said to the cook or the owner (don’t know who that man was) that they should improve their service and his answer was totally the opposite of a cuatomer service answer...he told me “if you don’t like it mrs.don’t come back” i asked my self is this possible???seriously zero customer service. The food it’s okay considering that in toronto there is no place to eat pollo a la Brasa ...but with their service just means that they could care less if you go and eat at their restaurant..it’s sad that peruvian would treat another peruvian or anyone like this..

I am updating this review because the owner apologized for the bad service and even gave me a family meal on the house because of what happened which was a pleasant surprise.<br/><br/>It's rare that places of business will take the blame for bad service. Usually when I give low ratings they snap at me saying I'm being Too harsh so I'm glad that los chicos was able to go above and beyond for this.<br/><br/>I really do love the food here especially their yuca fries. They are so addictive!!!!' Thank you again los chicos. I will be coming back :)

The food, while spiced well, is usually over cooked. <br/><br/>The restaurant is also incredibly unorganized. They do not answer the phone, and when they do they do not honour their take-out orders on time. <br/><br/>The first time we ordered from them, they forgot the extra chicken we ordered. We had to physically go there and complain because they would not pick up the phone.<br/><br/>The second time we wanted to try the food, they did not pick up the phone. We called every 5 minutes for an hour, with no one bothering to answer.<br/><br/>Today, we ordered again from them. They said the food would be ready in an hour. We arrived to pick up the food, and lo and behold it was not ready. We waited in the take out area for another hour for the chicken. Then, when they put the food together for us, we had to wait another 20 minutes for 1 order of fries.<br/><br/>Swiss Chalet chicken is also good, and only takes 1/5 of the time. I recommend going somewhere else until this place gets it's s**t together. Never going again

NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS BASED PURELY ON THE SERVICE FOR TAKEOUT.<br/><br/>We ordered a family meal that included 1.5 chicken, 3 large sides, 6 sauces and garlic bread (written on the menu).<br/><br/>We chose rice for one of the sides and we noticed that the rice they were scooping out looked about as moist as the Sahara desert. So naturally, we asked if there were any fresh rice. They told us it will be a 4 min wait. Cool, 4 minutes as opposed to eating dust particles. We'll take that.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, our next side, a Caesar salad, was prepared quite sloppily, a box of lettuce with dressing on the side and no cheese. We asked about the Parmesan cheese (which their menu clearly stated the salad would include) and were told "the cheese is in the dressing". Guess every other place on earth has been making Caesar salad wrong!<br/><br/>The best part: the menu stated the meal would include garlic bread, which we weren't given, so we asked about it. We were told they didn't have enough bread. So we asked if we could supplement the bread with something else. <br/><br/>"Garlic bread is complimentary." <br/><br/>Well, why did you put it on the menu then? The employee who told us that was clearly pissed off we had asked them for fresh rice instead of the desert sand they had tried to pass off as rice and decided to not give us something we had paid for and included with the meal. Didn't know speaking up for your rights as a customer would have you penalized.<br/><br/>TL:DR: BAD SERVICE. RICE DRY AF. If you try to speak up for the quality of your meal you will be rudely treated and have parts of your meal omitted as revenge.
