Review Fat Tuna Japanese Bistro - Maple Ridge

A MUST TRY! Delicious food and wonderful service. They put a unique twist on their food being Japanese/French inspired. We tried the sous vide chicken, buta bara (pork belly) and orange scallop, which were all amazing! They also have sushi, teriyaki and appetizers, and great deals for their lunch and dinner menus. To top it off, they serve sake and beer. I highly recommend this restaurant! Great atmosphere. Great service. Great quality food for its price. We will be back to try more!

Had to try this out as we heard about this on Facebook. Went there on Saturday at 6pm and were the only ones there, although a few couples arrived later in the meal. Surprisingly large restaurant, classy decor, excellent service, and all the food we ordered came quickly. Surprised by the Sashimi/Ngiri combo, as it came with salad and a miso soup (we opted for spicy miso and it was good). We want to come back again to try more things off of the menu.

We here came on opening night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The sushi was top of the line and the appetizers/mains were nothing like we've ever seen before. The owner and chef of this place used to run a sushi restaurant in Coquitlam under the same name but moved here to pursue his dream of running a Japanese Izakaya. Him and his staff were all extremely genuine and friendly. I would highly recommend coming here for lunch (they have an amazing fish burger set menu) or for dinner/drinks after work. It opens later than most restaurants in the area and the ambiance + food are just great. Great for large groups. I can't rave enough about this place! We will be coming back often for sure. Bonus, they had vegetarian/vegan options for me so I could eat happily as well :).

One of my favourite restaurants in Coquitlam so when I found out the owners moved to Maple Ridge I was so happy!! Food and service is always great and the owners are very friendly !! I always leave full and happy !! Y’all should check this place out if u pass by but don’t drive too fast because you’ll probably miss it lol

The owner used to have this restaurant in Coquitlam and it was me and my family's favourite sushi restaurant! Always served fresh quality food! Moving to Maple Ridge, it was hard to a good sushi place. But not anymore! The chef is always bringing his A game to the table. He combines different flavours and it works well. Presentation is lovely as well! I cannot rave enough about how much I love their food! Not to mention, their service is great! Location is hard to find but this may be the new hidden gem in the area.

My staff and I have sushi lunch together every Friday. Fat Tuna Japanese Bistro recently opened up down the road and we thought we'd give it a try. They did not disappoint! They have online ordering!! Our team loves the online ordering feature, it makes ordering lunch at work so convenient! The portions are enormous and the customer service is excellent. 10/10 I recommend this little gem in Maple Ridge.

We brought company from Ontario to have a late dinner on a Friday night. Food was very good and portions were generous. We had a wide selection from the menu and everyone enjoyed what they had. They allowed us to have all yams on the vegetable tempura :) we noticed some pretty unique art and as it turned out it was done by a family member of one of the chefs. He told us the back story and we all had a good laugh. I would definitely recommend Fat Tuna.

After reading about this place in a Facebook group the boyfriend and I decided to come here for dinner today. We were blown away by the presentation of the dishes and the creativity on the menu. The portions were huge, I had to take some rolls home as I couldn't finish! Service was friendly, and ambiance was great as we were one of the only people in the restaurant. Definitely will be going back to try more items off the menu.

The best Japanese Bistro by far in Coquitlam/Maple Ridge area. Every dish is beyond my expectation. The owners are super friendly, outstanding customer services. They put a lot of thought into each plate they make. The prices are super reasonable. I can not think of anywhere else to go when I want to dine out! Highly recommended.

Checked this place out because of a good Groupon deal and we'll be back! Not only was the place clean and inviting, the staff were incredibly helpful and the food.was.AMAZING! Even my kids (7 & 9) we're raving about the presentation and flavour of every dish we ordered. Thanks Fat Tuna! Edited to add: second visit was not as great. Three of us were finished eating before my son's food was brought out. A rush was put on his order once it was discovered he had been forgotten, but there was no apology or rectification. These things happen, especially when a place is busy. I understand. Children, however, should be served first.

An amazing place to try some high quality Japanese Bistro. The chef's selection of food is beyond any Japanese Bistro I have been to in the past. The chef has proven to reproduce some of the best quality, innovative rolls in Coquitlam for past two years. I'm thankful that he brought some of those rolls to this place's menu as well as some more dishes that are more suitable for Izakaya. You can see that he put a lot of thought into the menu when it comes to quality and quantity. The atmosphere in the restaurant is perfect to have a few sips of sake/beer with a small bistro dish. Their lunch selection is also amazing in terms of quality and quantity for its price. I highly recommend you to take the opening promotion as an opportunity to try their amazing food with discount for a next few days.

This is my favourite sushi restaurant. The owners of this place used to run the Fat Tuna in Coquitlam, but that one has new owners now and it's really gone down hill. This place, with the original owners, has excellent food quality and flavour. I love the lunch combos. The tofumite and black Cali rolls are my favourite. The dinner plates are massive and the prices are super reasonable. The owners are genuinely awesome people, and the wait staff is super friendly. The new location is large and has great decor; classy atmosphere. I'll definitely be making the trip from Coquitlam regularly. ^_^ So happy they're open.

I got a groupon for this and went as a group of 8. We tried many different menu items and loved it all! Great place for a date night and you’re wanting to try things outside your typical sushi. Service was great!

Fantastic hidden Gem. I heard about this place from some friends and made the trek out from North Vancouver. Definitely worth the drive. The Ocean Delight roll and tuna karage were absutely unreal. Fast and super friendly service and great decor. I will be back as a regular for sure!
