Review The Mill Tavern - Manotick

Yesterday, we had drinks and food on the back patio at the Mill Tavern in Manotick. My friend, who has food intolerances was treated with the utmost respect..our server tried to recommend something and then the chef came to our table and decided to make her something special which she could enjoy. A beautiful salad with grilled shrimp arrived for her and she loved it. Thank you for taking the time to find something for Therese to eat!

Amazing comedy night! Food, drinks, and laughs were all more than what I expected. David really a great job, definitely heading back.

The food is brilliant. Excellent service. Don't deny yourself, come check this place out !

Terrible service and food. Worst bartenders I have ever encountered. Not friendly and not very presentable. Allows packed with guys so wouldn't recommend if you want to go out and meet the other gender. Live bands are sometimes very good.<br/>

Always a great experience. The wait staff is always prompt, pleasant and accommodating!  I ordered the steak sandwich on the Pretzel Bread and a salad. (normally the sandwich comes open face, and on french bread) It was delicious. Cinnamon Puffs topped with carmel and whipped cream was the perfect finish! Try the Puffs! They are outstanding! Will for sure make a trip back in the near future!

This is more of a little pub that a restaurant but does have a cheery atmosphere. I went there tonight with a friend.  It was my second time there and the cook really knows how to prepare proper British traditional food. That was such an unexpected and very pleasant surprise. I'm British and have eaten these foods on their menu all my life and so am very familiar with them.  My husband had the steak pie which he loved.  It was perfectly made. I make my own from my grandmother's recipe and theirs was better.  I had the fish and chips and they were very good too.  They have Tatties & Mince, Bangers & Mash and many other British classics. <br/><br/>I had the fish and chips again tonight.  They have a new sea salt batter there and my friend loved it.  i had the regular and it was light and delicious.  They have proper Earl Grey tea as well, not the awful stuff with the lemon in it.  They also had proper fish and chip vinegar, the kind people use in the UK.<br/><br/>Our waitress obviously loves her job and was energetic, fun and very helpful.  That alone made it a delightful experience.  So many of them can be sullen and downright impolite so this was very nice.<br/><br/>One disappointment was the cheesecake.  The portions are generous but this dessert was lukewarm instead of chilled and was unappetizing, so neither of us ate it <br/>We'll be back.  It was enjoyable and nice to see a cook who knows British food.

Went out for a family dinner two kids two adults, started with an order of cheese sticks for 10$ got 7 sticks that's definitely came from a box in the freezer. <br/><br/>Ordered the pub specialty of fish and chips, so bland that even malt vinegar couldn't add flavour. The chips and by that I mean 12 soggy fries... Enough said...<br/><br/>My shock top beer came with no orange, they were out (Friday night you sell lots of beer and drinks - FYI might want to have a few oranges hanging around) <br/><br/>And to top it off...read ino this as you want- good thing the waitress never came to ask how the meal was. <br/><br/>Overall, the black dog is 25ft away and priced essentially the same next time you ask yourself which one should I choose PLEASE don't think the mill tavern will be a diamond in the rough. <br/><br/>Will not return, not worth 60$ for two entrees one beer a diet coke one appetizer and one kids meal... Should have waited at the black dog!!!!

Disappointed. Fish and Chips are average to below average at best. The fries are terrible. If you are going to brag in the menu that the fish and chips are some of the best in the city then you better deliver. Not the case at the Mill Tavern. Beer was good, service was slow. Won't be back.

Great live venue, service is awesome with friendly attentive staff. Great spot to sit on the patio with some friend. Strongly recommended to everyone to try

First and last time.... We were a party of 6; 4 adults and two kids. It took 15 mins just for the server to acknowledge us and take our drink order, and there were only 3 other tables full. The service continued to be terrible, and while we waited over 45 min to get our food (45 mins to make breakfast and sandwiches?!?) we also had to flag down our server more then once to get more drinks. After our ridiculous wait for our food, my father in-law's order was FORGOTTEN! Once our server realized her mistake, she apologized and rushed his food, but we were all done before his meal came. This all happened while the place was pretty much empty. The service is terrible and the food mediocre at best. Don't waste your time and money with so many better options within walking distance. Reading other reviews, it seems this is the standard at The Mill.

Not impressed.. Went with a couple of friends for lunch on Friday. I had a Caesar Wrap with fries. Didn't like the fries and Caesar Wrap was dry , small portion , not enough dressing on it . One of my guests had Chicken wings which he said were the worst he'd ever eaten. He also didn't like the fries. Other gentleman I don't think was impressed either. I wouldn't try again.

Love Live Music. This place is a reliable venue for Live Bands. The acoustical characteristics of the building provide for a well balanced sound. Several popular acts tend to rotate, with an occasional and delightful surprise booking.<br/>The food is good. Everything that I have ordered from the menu seems to have been prepared with care, and delivered promptly. They have a special 'malt/sea salt' variation of fish and chips that is a favorite of mine.<br/>Lots of imported and domestic taps.<br/>This place is FUN!

Not impressed! I have never waited so long to be served. 45 minutes before anyone even so much as took a drink order and that only happened because my husband went to the bar downstairs to ask for a someone to take our orders. We had 2 toddlers with us who were so hungry we served them snacks while we waited. Horrible! Yes we were told our first round of drinks were on our server. But it didn't end there. We were only hiven 2 sets of cutlery for 5 adults and 2 children an additional 3 sets were brought with a promise if more to come. But that never happened luckily we had food we could eat with our fingers but it was more the napkin I wanted. I eventually had to ask for napkins. All around really disappointed because the food was just average so not even worth the wait. I have never been in a place for 2 hours and spent more time waiting for food then it took to eat the food.

My Cousin and I had lunch today and were happy when we saw all day breakfast we thought, yes great!! So i had the Angus burger with fries my cousin had the the big dog breakfast. The wait was 45 minutes. The waitress apologized to us and did give us a bit of a deal on the bill. But after heading to Manotick for a nice meal we left unimpressed. But the waitress did seem sincere with her apology. The food was nothing I want to send friends to try. Wishing we had tried a different restaurant.

I gave this place two tries and unfortunately this is not a great spot. The sauces tasted off (as in bad cream), the rice was really no good, and the salad was drenched with sauce. It also didn't help that our waiter forgot to bring the bill so we waited 15 mins just to get it after asking another waiter. This place doesn't seem to try its own food, or would see right away that it needs help.

I always have a great time. I have been there countless times and I've never had a bad meal. I love the upstairs area really nicely decorated, perfect fr meeting friends for a drink in the evenings. I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

Went for brunch Sat morning and had to wait an hour for eggs.

Service and food are constantly poor. Staff seem to forget to serve you, however on the plus side ordering drinks and walking out on the tab is easily done on a regular basis as staff are too busy texting or watching tv. So I highly recommend going there for drinks. It is truely my favorite bar for this reason.

DancingMan. Great little pub. Really friendly, personal service. A tad on the slow side but it's really a pub where you go to relax, have a pint, a chat and be with friends. Food is good but menu is small. Homemade soups are great and a full meal deal. Lots of space (2 floors) but it fills up quickly. Highly recommended.

We took advantage of a groupon and visited this place for the first time on Saturday night. Given we were at Tavern, we had the Fish & Chips! Fabulous! Tried both the traditional batter & the Sea Salt batter? Awesome! Loved the crispiness of the sea salt batter! Great service too! We'll make the drive from Ottawa west again for our next craving of fish & chips! Great service too!
