In London On. for business. Dinner definitely made up for the loss of the Sunday due to travel.
Excellent food and very quaint setting next door to historic St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Service was attentive and prompt. The only down side was a disappointing (small) selection of Ontario wines by the glass.
Highly recommended.
I wish I could more than 5 for the food and service, always exceptional and treated respectfully. Lunch was excellent, had the scallops wrapped in salmon, so perfect, French onion soup was perfection and the crab cakes mmmmmmm. Keep up the great work.
The food was good, both in quality and quantity. I’m vegetarian and ordered vegetarian curry which was yumi and spicy enough (not too hot and tasty). My family ordered duck, pork rib, burger, and asparagus soup, and everybody was happy and satisfied. The staff are so friendly and nice.
We were recommended this pub by the comic book store (random I know) and it was delicious. Service was quick and it was busy which is always a good sign. 3 out of 5 of us got the game meat special, venison stuffed with panchetta, asparagus and mashed potato. Great portion size, nicely plated and it was awesome. Dessert was sticky pudding with vanilla ice cream. Would go again!
We went to The Church Key early on a Thursday evening (around 5 p.m.)
The menu at first glance appears to be regular pub grub, but upon a more detailed review, you can see the dishes are more elevated.
There were four of us and we all really enjoyed our meals (ale & onion soup along with mac & cheese, stuffed chicken supreme, ploughmans plate and fish & chips).
The food was excellent.
Our waiter, Brett, was very upbeat and responsive.
It is not a very big restaurant, so reservations are recommended. The smaller size does lend to a comfortable atmosphere, but if you are looking for a nice quiet meal the surrounding chatter may not be to your liking.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner. I would highly recommend The Church Key.
This was my first time going to the Church Key. The location is great, staff friendly and inviting. I ordered the soup of the day and vegetarian enchiladas. Both were very tasty and delicious. The portion size of the enchiladas was perfect. I would highly recommend The Church Key as a great place to go for a date or even outing with the family. It is so good that we have already booked reservations for the end of the month.
I went their for my birthday. The ambience and hospitality was really nice. This little restaurant has that nice warm cozy feeling to it where you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. For the appetizers we ordered Salmon wrapped scallops and Spanish Shrimps and they were mmhhmmmm DELICIOUS!! Drinks were good too. For Entree my husband ordered Corned Beef and Cabbage and I went for Pan Seared Trout! My husband just loved the beef entree, my entree was fine too. The sautéed mushrooms on top were yummy, baby potatoes were finely done but the Trout was way too salty. 1/4th of the trout was bland and the rest as if the salt got dumped accidentally. But I then had to give up on my trout and I just could not eat it even I tried washing it down with my drink. Anyways other than that we had an amazing time. Another suggestion would be maybe add a little complimentary spark if it’s a special occasion. I am not sure maybe they didn’t see the occasion-birthday when I booked but just cuz I loved this restaurant I’d suggest adding this as a feature for other customers.
Great pub food, service was friendly and attentive, bit of a limited menu, but my guess is it's to focus on quality, not really an issue, just something to keep in mind if your party has a picky eater. The appetizers in particular are really good, the mushroom dip is delicious! Great flavors all around. Recommended!
Awesome service and decent food. A solid 4.5 stars. I was not a fan of the mushroom dip but I loved the whisky duck breast. Just wish there was more duck on the plate. My girlfriend really enjoyed her ribeye. Wine selection for the reds was great!
Edit:
This is our second time here, everything is delicious. Service was great, we really enjoyed our dinner time :))
We really enjoyed the corn beef & cabbage and venison shepherds pie !! They are so tasty. We also ordered salmon chowder soup which has HUGE chunks of salmon in it. Absolutely delicious! The jerk beef skewers are also amazing along with the pineapple side dish. I have to say excellent service as well. We will be back !
Ordered takeout so can’t review the service or ambiance so this review is strictly for the food. The smoked salmon flatbread and stuffed chicken supreme were simply amazing. Recommended.
Chose the Church Key for husbands birthday. Mushroom dip was amazing. Fish and chips for hubby, coleslaw has been good before, but sadly not today. I settled on the smokiest smoked turkey sandwich ever!! Highly recommend!
My mother and I came down from Kelowna to visit London for the first time and found this gem whilst driving around downtown. Needless to say, the food and service was nothing short of spectacular! It was our favourite pub on our trip hands down. Thank you for having us Peter we will be back for more scallops and chips with curry sauce!
It had a nice atmosphere. Very tight confines like a traditional pub should be. Great variety of signature drinks, food and desserts. My only complaint was that they've jumped on this bandwagon of putting steak on top of mashed potatoes.
Trust, it's a good spot. Had a few apps and they were exceptional.
The selections both for drinks and food hit all kinds of spots without it being too much.
The staff know whats what and this makes for the experience you should have. And with age, The Church Key has gotten better.
Enjoy.
This was a whim and we are glad we stopped in. I had a lovely soup while my partner had bison short ribs. Lovely presentation, nice pricepoint.
15 person Brunch went well. Small restaurant but comfortably fit all of us.
It's worth noting that this place is a paleo eater's dream as they really pile on the bacon!
The chefs change the brunch menu almost weekly and the staff was very friendly.
Endless cups of coffee here are great! They gave me honey as I don't like to use sugar.
Before our mains arrived, there was a surprise in store.
We didn't know, but included with brunch was a bounty of freshly baked warm pasteries. Best of all they catered to the celiacs and provided a salad and little gluten free coconut caramel cakes.
The plethora of pateries were picked clean by our party post haste, you'd think we were a caravan of famished pilgrims if you saw our table when the basket hit the wood - we were like a pack of piranhas pouncing on a plump flank of pork shank dropped in the pool. I barely had time to take a picture.
The scene quickly turned into a black market prison marketplace - people were buying blueberry muffins from each other with packs of cigarettes and trading custard donuts and scones for mackerel cans.
The fluffy dish of butter was put up for auction and purchased by one of the children for a year's allowance.
Then the meals arrived.
I ordered the Sushi salmon Steak as itl looked like the best the low carb option. It was delicious. Great healthy option.
Wife needed gluten free, she's celiac, they were able to modify her Steak & Eggs meal. That was also amazing. Really healthy with veggies and protein.
The only negative thing we had to say about this place was the toast. All the kids didn't eat their toast because it was more like a sweeter cornbread than regular sliced bread.
Some of the kids didn't eat their breakfast because they are used to dipping the eggs in the toast, and when the toast was not like it cascaded into 4 breakfasts going mostly uneaten.
I loved this place. The servers were so kind and friendly. Loved the revealing brick walls of the place. I ordered Lamb Curry and that was amazing. I paired it with Steam Whistle Beer from their Tap. Overall amazing experience. Whenever you’re in London, this is your must visit place.
