Review Walker's Restaurant - London

Ngoc Yen My Tran
Always wanted to try out this place and I was happy with the food! We tried a few dishes and you must try calamari, this is the best calamari I’ve had in London, I was focused on eating it that I forgot to take pics. The seafood pasta is really yum as well, very creamy and seafood-y. However The fish and chips was not good, its bland… it might could be out choice of fish was not good (cod), but I’ve tried fish and chips other places that are much better. Other than that, I think their seafood is really fresh and high quality. Enjoyed it overall!

The most amazing food with the best service! Luan and the staff treat you like family. You couldn't ask for a better ambiance in a restaurant with 5 star food. The fish & chips is heaven. The portions were generous, and the fish was crispy without the extra grease. Fresh cut fries are simply the best and the coleslaw was the perfect kind of creamy! The lemon meringue pie was rich and flavourful...basically you gotta eat here! Luan's is a London gem and a must try!

Popped in tonight on a whim without a reservation. Luckily we were able to squeeze in. We were greeted so warmly. The food incredible! We had the black tiger shrimp for the app. The flavour was incredible. Seafood risotto and the seafood platter for our mains z It tasted better than it looked and it looked amazing! We had the carrot cake cheesecake for dessert. Amazing food and service Highly recommend.

A lot of reviews here are old from Irene’s. The new space is modern looking and the seafood was great! They brought some warm bread, likely a ciabatta with butter. We were at a table near the door and were a bit cramped, and the noise level was high for a small place. Aside from that, halibut, salmon, perch and swordfish were all delicious. My swordfish was served on a bed of Parmesan risotto and had (I think) a mango chutney on top. The place is still small so be sure to reserve a table!

Exquisite food, atmosphere and service! A fine dining must! Calamari may very well be the best in London. Sea bass was spiced and cooked to melt on your tongue perfection. Scallops were tender tasty delicacy and Tiger shrimp also savoury jewels. I truly appreciate the wide selection of wild caught fish, non is farmed fish and that’s quality you can taste. Key lime pie was delicious. The owner, Luan, visited us to ensure we enjoyed our meals, his presence was courteous and very hospitable. Fabulous atmosphere and experience 🙏

I’ve been to Luan’s Seafood & Grill a handful of times, but they continue to impress me. Today was no exception. They started me off with some bread and butter, free of charge. I ordered two mains: deep fried cod with coleslaw, and the Seafood Risotto that contained black tiger shrimp and sea scallops in a truffle oil base. Both were delicious, leaving me wanting more. I ended my feast with a Black Forest cake. I could taste a pleasant cherry flavour, but was unfortunately no better than a Black Forest cake from a regular grocery store. This is a special restaurant. Everything from their seafood to their burgers to their homemade bread is extraordinary. One of the only restaurants that has mastered multiple cuisines. A special shout-out goes out to Nancy for being a wonderful server!

The best in London, reservations recomend any night as they are a small restaurant. The calamari is so soft, moist and melts in your mouth. Highly recommend from the shareable menu. The lobster stuffed calamari risotto (specials menu so not every day, December 2023 we ate this.) Omg, there are too many positive words to describe the taste, just YOU MUST ORDER THIS! Janelle our waitress was so friendly and attentive without being too annoying and hovering. I'm glad I live in Toronto as I would be here every night if the restaurant was near my house.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in London. Everything we ordered was perfect! The chef even came out to the table, it was just pure class.

I had the local Yellow Perch, and my wife had the Tiger Prawn and Shrimp Stir Fry. Both were excellent. We topped it off with Carrot Cheesecake and the Black Forest Cake. Both were worth the calories. Next time we are in London we will have to come back.

Incredible experience. We enjoyed the Ahi Tuna to start and the Swordfish + Black Cod Specials which both included a delicious risotto, also had Key Lime Pie for dessert. Great cocktails. Chef Luan came to chat and is a lovely and endearing person- very passionate and talented. Been waiting to come here for a long time and will definitely be back. Worth a visit- yummmmm.

Dined is for Lunch with my partner, restaurant has a nice atmosphere, clean and the hostess was attentive and pleasant. Calamari was delicious, well breaded and seasoned cooked very well! We both had the Haddock with fries, fish was flakey and moist cooked perfectly. Breading was light and not oily. Fries were fresh and lightly salted. We really enjoyed our experience and will be back in the future!

Great place to try out the seafood! Pickerel, Halibut and Coconut Shrimp were so good! Great staff, very friendly!

Classic French fundamentals with a twist. Chef Luan visited our table and discussed his cooking style and the history and evolution of his restaurant. Wishing you all the success with your new concept. Délicieuse!

The best seafood restaurant in the city hands down. We started with the scallops as an appetizer, which were delicious. I had the steak and lobster dinner, and my partner had the seafood risotto. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked. The atmosphere is cozy. Definitely will be returning.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in London. The chef came out to speak with us after our diner! A+++

Quiet and clean. Friendly service. Delicious food. Reasonable price (2 9oz reds, appetizer, salad and main course for $100). Good portions for sharing. Lots of selection on the menu. Loved the mussels and halibut especially.

It was my first time at Laun's Seafood & Grill but it definitely won't be the last. The food was incredible. I got the scallops and wow, best in London for sure. The coconut shrimp and calamari fritti was so tasty, drinks were amazing, portions were so filling! Key lime pie was the perfect mix of tart and sweet. Loved my first meal here! Can't wait to try everything else.

My mom and I went for dinner here for the first time and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The workers were so wonderful and helpful. The chef even came out to give us suggestions. The food was absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to go back and bring our family and friends. All around 10/10 experience. Best seafood around! Thank you!!

The owner is a scumbag who doesn't pay his employees. Google/Check out CBC news for Walkers Fish and Chips: "The restaurant owner, Robert Pouliot, was charged with four counts of failing to comply with orders to pay.

I worked for Walkers and I have got to say getting my paycheque is like pulling teeth without the laughing gas but the fish is to die for. I had the fish when I was working there and I nearly dropped dead the taste was absolutely the best thing my brain has ever tasted, it was grrrrrrrrrrrr-eat! Getting my pay cheque on the other hand it has been nearly 2 weeks since my last shift and I haven't received my one and only pay cheque. Ralph was kind enough to loan me 20 bucks when it was a Friday nite and I had no money to go out and do something and the food there is magnificant the fish is amazing and the menu is way cool the dill spice on the fries, everyone has got to try it! I want my paycheque Rob (Owner) please and thank you. Walker's is a cleaner kitchen once Billy spun through there. LOL!

Walked here for lunch and was so astonished at how expensive my one piece of haddock and fries came to! I was disappointed in the quality of food, fish was soggy and bland, the fries were soggy as well! I am a fish and chips connissear, this was by far the worst place I have ate at.
Kevin_droue
Dissapointed. Three of us had fish & chips and one milkshake and the bill came to $68! Fries were soggy. Won't be back...

Excellent Fish!. My SIL and 2 teenage kids ate here in the beginning of March 2015 and the food and service was great! I had Halibut, my SIL had clams and chips, 1 kid had chicken fingers and fries, and the other had a burger, onion rings, and deep-fried oreos.

Mt hubby and I were here today April 27, 2015. Once again, the food was great. I had the haddock, and hubby had the cod. Same cook was working. Can't wait until we make it for the all-u-can-eat fish and chip Tuesdays. Too bad it is an hour and a half away!

Quite shocked by the management. Was going to go in today for lunch at this place even though it had such poor reviews. However upon overhearing an employee complaining to the management that she has not been payed in a month decided to take my business elsewhere.

Disappointed. I have been going here for years but my last dining experience was a disappointment ...service, food was bad and the place was dirty Too bad !

Had High Hopes. Menu looked great. Tons of options. Placed large order and 90% of it was thrown out. Very poorly cooked and put together. Extremely disappointed.

Best fish and chips in town!. I have been coming here for years and never leave hungry or disappointed! The fish is always done to perfection and never greasy, the fries are freshly cut and the milkshakes are to die for! The decor certainly isn't modern and I believe appeals to people's nostalgia of days gone by, but it is bright and clean inside.I've always found the staff to be warm, attentive and courteous and most of all welcoming, and this is certainly one of the reasons why this place has such a loyal following, (seriously, go in on a Thursday for seniors day and you'll see the same people every week chatting away with the server like old friends). To the reviewer who referred to Walker's being in "the ghetto": I'm sorry you left before giving the place a fair shot. If you assume a neighbourhood of elderly and working class people is automatically a "ghetto" you'd do well to take your entitled snobbery back to where you won't have to see how the other half lives. Walker's fish and chips is excellent!

Dirty and Moldy. This place smelled disgusting. The waitress was very greasy looking, unfriendly and ignorant. I didn't even stay to order.
Did I mention the location is in the ghetto..

Poor service. Ordered 3 double pollock dinners and a poutine on Sunday for delivery, I was told 45 minutes and so 75 minutes later, I called to inquire and when I said I hope it's not cold, the server (Alisha) replied with "well same here" and hung up! I immediately asked for a manager who was not around and asked to have him call me. It's now Wednesday with no reply. Not to mention 15 minutes later when the food arrived cold, they neglected to give me the four extra tartar that I PAID FOR, instead they gave me mayo.. We got no drinks and still managed to pay 57 dollars for an all around bad experience .. Won't be back!

What a disgrace. A grimy shocking experience...... With the first notion after seeing split vinyl seats, and a tired dirty look, we managed to stall, asking for menus to figure out how to get out of the place...... Fortunately, Archie's was only a few blocks away, a delightful place, busy, friendly, and great food
Walkers would do well to transform the interior, and get rid of the 50's look...... I'm surprised the health department hasn't moved in and condemned the place

Amazing customer service! And great food as well!. I called on Mother's Day in a little bit of a panic to place an order for my mum but since the website wasn't working I didn't have access to their menu at all. When I called them they didn't pick up the phone but not even two minutes later they called me back apologizing for the missed call. I asked the lady if she could read out her menu to me to which she did and I placed an order. I could tell from the background noise that it was super busy in the restaurant itself. A little while later I get another phone call from her apologizing for the delay on the delivery and as compensation they ordered me dessert. The food was excellent and nice and warm. I can't wait to go to the actual restaurant next time. If anyone is looking for an amazing customer service experience look no further and go here!

Won't be back. We went here because we had a groupon to use. I will not be back. The place looks very dirty and the condiments on the table were all filthy, greasy to touch. Our lunch cost us 35. I had a burger and fries, I don't think the burger was all beef seemed like a lot of filler and very small. My husband had the halibut and chips and the fish was very thin. The fries looked like the grease had not been changed in ages. For 35. we could have had a much better lunch elsewhere.

Great food but menu needs updating as there were several things no longer available.
Amazing shakes .. peanut butter chocolate was orgasmic!
Lisa
Was a fan... But after many orders... I've noticed you shouldn't expect to get the coleslaw part of your dinner.

Walker's Fish and Chips. We went last week. It is small - meant more for takeout than eating in. We chose to eat in.
The place was clean and busy. We got the last booth. For a big guy like me, it was tiny, but cozy. The wife and I sat on one side of the booth - something we haven't done for years. The booths are adjustable, so we had more room this way.
The decor is basically early 50's diner. Interesting and clean. Considering that this is one of the oldest buildings in an old part of London, they did well with the limited space they had. Unlike the previous review, we found nothing but a delicious odor coming from the kitchen. The waitress (there was only one) was busy but very attentive. She was handling both tables and takeout and the phone. Probably could have used some help, but she did a great job.
Of course, we ordered Fish and Chips, although they have lots of other stuff on the menu. My appetite is usually pretty good, so I ordered a two piece dinner while the wife had a one piece.
The food arrived in good time. It was fresh and HOT. Lots of fries, good coleslaw and tartar sauce (we ordered extra). And the fish. Must have needed a forklift to get it in and out of the fryer. I ate one piece and took the other home in a styrofoam doggy bag. I have NEVER taken food away from a restaurant, ever. This was a first that I could not eat everything on my plate.
In summation: great food, great service, homey decor with some interesting knick knacks. Highly recommend it. We will go again.

Excellent and friendly service. First time there and not disappointed. Fish was awesome!

Not a very nice place.. We found ourselves wanting to have some good Fish and Chips a couple of Fridays ago and figured we'd try a new place. We'd heard excellent things about International Fish and Chips, but were a little too late, so having already experienced good eats at the Walkers on Wonderland for takeout, we figured we'd try the Richmond location.

What a MASSIVE disappointment.

Let me first say though that the FISH itself, is very good. Nice batter and fresh.

But that's it. The eat-in experience is horrible. The young female servers have no idea. They either need training or to find other jobs. We opted for a Cod dinner and a halibut dinner - the former with fries and mushy peas, and the latter with a broccoli salad.

My biggest disappointment for me was being told they don't sell mushy peas - despite the menu and all recent advertising I've seen indicate that they do.
So, having substituted coleslaw, we wait for out order. Two minutes later we are asked who wanted the haddock?!? We repeated the order again - HALIBUT. (Maybe, just maybe they should use a pencil and paper to write this stuff down?)

When it arrives, they have the fish on the wrong plates. (How simple can it be?)

We exchange fillets and ate the meals. As I said, we both enjoyed the fish, but the rest of the meals, they were average.

The seating is not comfortable - the seats are very shallow and you can't help feel you are about to slide off of them.

The restaurant could do with a makeover also. The pre-smoking ban stains are still there and there's an unusual musty smell that I put down to years of fried oil vapour.

All in all, not a great experience.

I would pick Olde English or the other Walkers on Wonderland ahead of this restaurant, in fact, even Archies is a more pleasant experience.

The fried clam strips are as good if not better than what I get on the east coast. Reminds me of the old HoJo's here in London. Excellent!!!

100% Satisfied!. Have been going to Walkers for 2+ years now as it came highly recommended by a few of my co-workers and I love it. Inside the restaurant is small but so very cute and the food is delicious. I love that they use a light batter on their fish than most places do :)

Horrible, greasy food. Terrible wait staff. Only decent cooks have both been fired. Own needs to open his eyes

Excellent Fish!. I've lived in London for 35 years and last week was the first time I went to Walker's.I can't believe that I missed this gem! The fish was excellent and well priced! The restaurant is very small but the server was friendly and efficient. The experience was really good and I will definitely go back

The service was slow for a lunch, close to ten minutes to be serviced, 30 mintues to get the special to go, and the frise were warm but limp after the 2 minute walk back to work. After eating the less then fantasic chips and crummy fries I have gut rot. Next time I'll stick with subway.

Coming Back. I have been going to walkers for years. I love fish and chips A LOT!!! Recently I ventured outside the norm and was really really disappointed. Walkers has never let me down. The fish is always a good size. In fact even with everyone increasing prices they still give me the same huge piece of halibut and lots of fries. I doubt I will try another fish and chip place unless outside of the city. Really worth it!!!
