Review Talbot St Whisky House - London

Certainly a contender for one of the best burgers I've had in London! The patty was homemade and the toppings we’re all fresh. Cost was a bit higher than the average for London, but I was content with that in exchange for quality. I do wish they has a bit more options available on tap however, which I’m sure they will eventually expand. Overall a great experience.

Great patio and server was very friendly, live music was not the greatest.

Owner was a great laugh and the whiskey selection was pretty good. Would go again!

This restaurant offers a atmosphere. However, the food was lacklustre. This is a great place to go for drinks and appetizers but I don't think I'd go back for a meal.

Tried to go here for food and drinks on a Thursday night. A few tables of people inside and out. After 10 minutes at the door a gir who looked at us three times already said "just sit anywhere". Took a table on the patio and waited for 20 minutes. No waitress, no hostess, nothing. We just got up and left. Maybe the food is good? Who knows? We sure never got to find out.

Terrible service. Went a couple weeks ago on a weekend when Jays were playing. Sat inside since patio was full, after 20 mins we went to the bar to order our own drinks since no one came by. We were next to the patio door...its not like they didn't know we were there. Asked to have the game put on three times... At least a few other people were wearing jays apparel and wanted to see the game too. No go. Finished our drinks and asked for food menus at the bar since server still hadn't come by. Waited a while and decided to leave since they weren't interested in taking food order or refilling drinks. Best part is ...first time the server came by was to ask us to go to a smaller table because a large party was coming in. We were paying the bill already and went to Toboggan for food instead. Won't be back, certainly won't recommend.

My Gf and myself found ourselves at the whiskey house for a quiet date night. The live music was excellent! We were not crazy for some of their traditionally prepared cocktails like the whiskey sour and sidecar the food was awesome. The mussels were on point and we could not get enough of them!

I was in with a couple of my girlfriends on the patio lastnight who was waited by a pleasant young girl, the staff were all perky and pleasant for the most part, the bartenders seemed to be distracted by there phones a lot, but that didn't prevent us from having a fun night. We felt very comfortable and taken care of. We only intended on staying for a drink or two but ended up staying the whole night. Tho we were there several hours, our waiter still was very attentive. They opened up the floor so people could dance if pleased, which I thought was great! Such a great atmosphere and great place for a couple of moms who need a night out!!!

My husband and I were in for a drink and snack late Thursday night, when an event had seemed to take place inside, so we were seated out on the patio. Our waitress was fairly busy running back in and out of the restaurant and still seemed to always check in on us. My husband and I ordered a plate of nachos and Asiago dip in thought that it would take a while with the restaurant being so busy. To our surprise our food and drinks were delivered quicker than expected and our waitress was constantly making sure we knew we were too, a priority. Though busy, she continued to chat with us and let us get to know her a little. I highly recommend this elegant restaurant with the quick delivery of food, delicious and well sized appetizers (all we had) and friendly faces. We enjoyed our drinks and food out on the patio then made our way inside to listen to a live performer. I will most definitely be returning soon!

Wouldn't Recommend. Really nice Thursday night to sit out on a patio, except the raunchy, late twenties crowd loitering the patio (I heard a couple of them mention they were "off the clock" - maybe trying to get the attention of their co-workers?). Ordered the pear and arugula salad (small size 13$), and the Artichoke dip (13$), and a glass of wine. Apparently they were out of the Pino Grigio, so I tried the Chardonnay (guess I forgot to ask for it cold).
Our bill totalled 40$ for the three items, and I couldn't pay outside. The waitress told us we had to pay inside, so we walked inside and stood aimlessly while we were given no direction, by the 7 or so staff standing around the bar.
Pretty sure the waitress never introduced herself, nor did she offer any specials or suggestions. I also don't appreciate being called "sweetie" or "hun". very unprofessional.

Despite being a beautiful place with a great location, Whisky House was overpriced and the service was strange. Wanting to try something new, we saw that there was an appetizer deal online, but once we got there the server had no idea and the only deal was on meat dishes (not ideal for vegetarians). By the time she figured it out the time had passed for the deal. Then the server came back to our table every 5 minutes and interrupted our conversation to ask us if we needed anything? Normally it is great to have our servers attention; however, it was excessive and annoying. We were disappointed overall, incredibly overpriced and not a relaxed space to enjoy drinks/appetizers. We have no plans to return.

A ton of fun. I went there for dinner and drinks. The food was better than my moms cooking. Mom, if you are reading this, I'm sorry. I had the best salmon of my life. After dinner I had a couple beauty cocktails and then a live band came on. It was Archie Gamble from Helix on drums. What a blast. He was super nice too. Pretty much the best unexpected night of the year. I cannot say enough good things about this cool place.

Whisky House was a wonderful experience. Checked out the Whisky on a Thursday nite for dinner and end up staying to hear the live tunes by a crowd pleasing electric fiddler. What a treat !
Food was tasty , staff attentive and a truly fun night out for the whole gang.
Definitely worth a visit.

Great dining experience!. Had an awesome experience since walking in the front door. A pleasant young lady named kelly welcomed us brought us in and made us feel so comfortable. therewere 6 in our group and we were neglegent in making a reservation prior to coming! Ooops but Kelly sat us down on seats near the front door to rest upon till a table was available! Not too long the whole time ckng in to be sure we didnt need anything-10 min wait max
Table was set and we were good to go. It was such a great experience.! Loved the atmosphere with the music playing in the background-right level not too loud. Watress was awesome - we ordered a good variety of food items from the menu. All items were the perfect temperature and delicious! (salads pork, chicken and appetizers)
Thanks for bringing some competition to the area! Great food and service cant wait to go back again!

Cool spot. Cool atmosphere, great food. The live music was super fun. I also noticed a southwest facing patio. Sounds like a beauty. All sun all summer

Amazing service, amazing food- love the decor and 20's themed environment. Food is well portioned, delicious, well priced and delivered as soon as ready. Our server was very young and new to the serving business, but was very conversational and catered to our every need without needing to wait. On other visits we had a different server all times and still brought great service to the table. I was disappointed with the lack of professionalism of the management team. I have returned to the whisky house on several occasions and the men and women of management seemed embarrassingly intoxicated throughout all my visits.

Exactly what London needed. My experience at Talbot St Whisky House was nothing short of amazing. We decided to Ty this new hot spot for girls night this past weekend and were enamoured with the experience. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. We tried the crispy wontons, and poached pear salad for aps, followed by the salmon, and beer tenderloin as our main courses. Although I am not a whisky drinker, I had the side car and pink pearl which were to die for. We stuck around for a few drinks and it turned out to be one heck of a Saturday night girls outting! We will definitely be making this into a regular thing!

Great Atmosphere, Courteous Staff, Excellent Cuisine. I am fairly new to London, and thought I'd try out this new place with my girlfriends last weekend. We were very impressed with the decor. Upon entering we were promptly greeted by a friendly server who wasted no time finding us a table. The appetizers (I had the wontons, another friend had the mussels, and the other two shared the charcuterie plate) were appropriate in size and excellent quality and taste. Our entrees arrived within a very reasonable length of time. The stuffed chicken was to die for! 2 of the girls ordered the salmon and couldn't stop gushing about how great it was, the other girl ordered the beef tenderloin which she was equally impressed with. Throughout the meal our server was present and courteous. She was always willing to make suggestions and seemed very knowledgeable about the cocktails we ordered. She was even willing to have the bartender make one up special for our visit. Management visited our table a few bites into our main course to ensure everything was superb. We assured her that we were more than satisfied! As we were getting ready to leave, live entertainment began, so decided to stay for another few cocktails. THIS PLACE IS EXACTLY WHAT LONDON NEEDS! We will be making the Whisky House a regular hangout in the future.

Great food!. Great food, warm atmosphere and exciting night life! Finally a busy, fun place to drink that isn't filled with students or has a 100 person waiting line in -30 weather!

Pretty damn cool place.. I took my girlfriend, my mother and my dad out to the Talbot St. Whisky House tonight for dinner. Honestly, I don't understand some of the bad reviews of this little gem. If you were ever in the place when it was the Coates of Arms, the APK or the Rose and Crown, you would not recognise it at all. They renovated the hell out of the place and it looks fantastic. From silver ceilings to barn board flooring to cool Edison lighting, this place screams eclectic.
We got in a little late and the place was packed, but were fortunate enough to get a table after a brief chat with the manager.....who was very courteous and polite. The drinks came quite fast considering how busy it was and before we knew it, our shared nacho appetizer was right in front of us. It was piled high with multi coloured chips and loaded with cheese. Not bad for 15 bucks. For our entrees my dad and I each had the 10 oz. tenderloin, which were cooked properly and presented nicely. My mom had the stuffed chicken which she said she loved and could hardly finish......again presented nicely. My girlfriend had a chicken Caesar salad which was huge.....I helped finish it off and I must say I know homemade dressing when I taste it.
Over all......
Décor 9/10
Food 9/10
Service 9/10
Value 8/10
This is the kind of place you would find in Toronto, Montreal or New York, a rarity for London and a hidden gem.
Try it out.....I loved it and will be returning very soon.

AWFUL SERVICE. I have no idea what the deal is with this place. I met a friend their for a drink, and was not even acknowledged for over 15 minutes. There were two bartenders/servers, and another bartender who must have been off the clock was sitting right beside us. None of them even made eye contact! Absolutely absurd. We ended up leaving to go somewhere else.

Smarten up and maybe you'll have a chance at staying open longer than the other places that were there.

High ambition, zero delivery. They tried with the reno, rebranding the old APK, and even trying a theme.. but...

Awful overpriced cocktails, terrible service, painfully bad sound quality from the music system

Cocktails: Terrible. They need to hire bartenders who can mix a decent drink. I was thrilled they couldn't mess up a neat shot of Lagavulin.

Terrible Service: My table was approached by 3 different servers within 5 minutes asking us if we needed anything. Some organization would help. Waitress couldn't even pronounce the name of the cocktails.

Sound quality: Brutally loud with distortion and no bass. Poor music selection hurts the mood of the place. Spend money on a system that doesn't want to make the patrons leave.

I don't suggest anyone who appreciates fine whisky or cocktails go here.

Terrible cocktails. Over-priced and poorly thought out/mixed cocktails. Sidecar was $13. It was at least strong, but had little to no flavor. Normally wouldn't mind paying that price for a cocktail, if it was done properly. The "Jon collins" cocktail was seriously the worst drink I have ever tasted. Ever. I think this was the first time I've ever paid for a cocktail (especially an expensive one) at a restaurant /bar and not finished it. The taste was so offensive I think I maybe got 2-3 sips choked down before I gave up. Whoever came up with the drink menu had no idea what they were doing. Friend had an "old fashioned", which wasn't really an old fashioned. Missing the essential sweet/sour note; was basically just watered down bourbon. There was a good selection of different whiskys on the menu, which were reasonably priced. Cocktails need some more thought /a total overhaul. Decor was nice, although not really "prohibition era" as marketed. More like a pseudo-hipster's idea of what prohibition might look like.
