Review The Halfway House - London

Lovely pub, it's one that I've been meaning to go to for a while since moving to the area. The outside looks really inviting and the inside is really well kept and comfortable. Also dog friendly with space between tables for them to lay down. The staff are super attentive and quick with taking orders. We didn't eat as it was social drinks with friends but the menu looks great. There are plenty of choices on tap to suit most tastes

What a great time at the Halfway House! 3 of us had a few of the sharing dishes, whilst another went for the fish and chips… everything was cooked to absolute perfection, and we all said that the pork belly was one of the best bits of pork we’d ever tried! The team are also really friendly at the Halfway House, definitely going to book a table again over the next few weeks!

Had always frequented this place for a quick pint out the station and enjoyed the service and quality of the pints. The blonde haired barman pours a delightful Guinness! Recently popped in for a Sunday lunch and had a delightful set of meals, the roast & fish&chips were particularly good - all at a decent price point. Everything you could ask for from your local station pub (and more!)

Having recently moved locally, we have tried a few places for Sunday dinner. This was the best we’ve had so far. Plenty of beef cooked to your liking, a good amount of horseradish sauce, excellent veg and roast potatoes. Plus it’s not too loud in there unlike other places. Music at a decent volume so you can have a conversation.

Great service, food and drinks were good too. Can't fault it really. Really good spot in Earlsfield right next to the station. We stopped in while doing the capital ring walk which goes straight past it and a proved a really good place to stop off for lunch.

The burger was incredible. I'm definitely coming back here, and recommended a fair few people already too. Wish I could vote more than 5 stars.

Late Sunday lunch , quick service, no fuss, great quality food. Roast beef excellent. Horseradish could have been a bit stronger but otherwise perfect. Will return

Had a delightful brunch and the staff are so friendly here. I recommend the full English as the portion size is great compared to other places in Earlsfield for the same price! The latte was also very well made, overall, this is a great place for a weekend brunch!

Great customer service. I had an issue that was dealt with really well. A busy Sunday and a bit of a wait for food but was very nice when it came out. Kids also ate all of there’s too which is always a bonus!

Popped in a bit worse for wear on a Sunday and it honestly made my day. Food was 10/10 and service amazing, Particularly Joey! Will definitely be back for a roast next time

The most amazing Sunday roast at 8:30 in the evening. Kitchen closes at 9 pm on a Sunday here, yet you would never think that the crispy Yorkshire pudding, tender meat and veggies had been sitting around for all that long, and it didn't take long at all to get served (have ordered everything through the app whilst sat at the table. The brownie was a bit dry but apparently that's the trade off for it being a recipe suitable for vegetarians so I was told. Still, a minor blip considering how impressive the roast turned out to be, even at that time of night on a Sunday towards the end of the trading day.

Popped by with my partner and baby to check out the new refurb and wow. Every part of the pub has been transformed. The attention to detail and colour way is a nice touch and I love what they have done with the garden. Had a quick browse of the menu and decided to order some crayfish popcorn 🤩 what a great addition and a brilliant example of what a pub menu can be. More sharing plates which I love to see. Managed to also speak with the new GM junior who has the right touch to take the pub into the future. Great to have a decent local back. Good luck team

Back with a bang!!!! Fresh look, fresh pints and even fresher food. Small plates were absolutely banging, we tried the burrata, cote de boef, the potatoes and triple cooked chips, from start to finish was fantastic. we finished up with the honey cake and baron bigod and bigod it was incredible. Bravo chefs And bravo Junior the new general manager who is just as charming as the pub. See you again soon half way house!!

Great staff and service. Really close to station so handy meeting point. Have tried food in the past and was good but not tried it for a couple of years so cannot comment on food

Great local pub in the heart of Earlsfield and just around the corner from the train station. The pub offers good food, a busy and lively atmosphere and small beer garden.

Beautifully decorated and great service. The food however was not good at all. The starters were better than the mains but my burger was cheap meat and cheese and smelt like a MacDonalds. My friend could not finish his fish and the two other friends had the corn fed chicken which they said was very average considering the high gastro pub prices. Great place to drink though!

I ordered the Pork Loin Rib roast which came with braised red cabbage, savoy cabbage, carrots, parsnips, goose fat roasties (approve), ‘proper gravy’ and a Yorkshire pud.

Verdicts. The meat itself was superb. It came actually served on the rib bones which was rather cool in a carnivorous sort of way. The meat was tender and still moist and flavoursome. The pork comes from Dingley Dell Pork, as advertised in their menu. I love it when a place gives a shout out to its suppliers and producers. Kudos to you Halfway House for that. The crackling needed a bit of work. It was crisp and snapped yep, but it needed a bit more air too it. For me crackling needs to have that crunch, but it also needs to almost have a honeycomb texture to it – something which is achieved by the fat being put under high heat and almost bubbling up, rising and then setting. That produces a crunch that is also chewable. Snap and chew, teeth sinking softly through soft but DRY fat, rather than snap-oh-shit-I-just-broke-a-tooth. But it was good, really good, great flavour...

Read more:
http://www.foodgoblin.com/london-dining/the-halfway-house

Nice venue, quite good food...but...why are they always in a hurry about closing kitchen asap? One day maybe brits will learn about working hard and making business ?
