Review West Side Family Restaurant - London

Stopped in here today for a late breakfast / lunch. This place only does breakfast and lunch and closes at 3 pm. Service was great, omelette was bomb, eggs were cooked perfectly, but the steak was not the best; very thin and rubbery like it had been frozen and thawed out. Not surprising for a breakfast/ lunch diner, I'm guessing they don't sell many steaks. Home fries were good, didn't try the hash browns. Service was great, very friendly and fast, and prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back to try something else.

I got the eggs benedict and it was by far the best I have ever had. Our waitress was such a sweet lady and the atmosphere felt like a small town diner despite being in the city. 10/10 recommend!!

Went to the Westside Family Restaurant the past two Sundays. Staff are extremely welcoming and make you feel at home. Last week I ordered the two eggs with bacon and pancakes and upgraded the pancakes to the Hawaiian pancakes. The pancakes were amazing, great combination with the pineapple, coconut and whipped cream. I tried the first one with out syrup and the second one with, works well either way. The eggs, bacon and potatoes with onions were perfect as well. They make a good cup of coffee too. The g.f. went with the 2 eggs, bacon homefries and French toast. She also enjoyed everything on the plate. Went back today and were greated by an equally welcoming and friendly staff. Today I went with the Mason special which is eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and choice of potatoes plus coffee included. The g.f. got the Montana style eggs benny and a milkshake. The food was out really fast. She said the milkshake was awesome and enjoyed the eggs benny. I got an order of rice pudding which was a nice way to finish off breakfast. The past two weekend visits have proven that the service and food has a consistent quality. I would recommend and will definitely return.

Service was top notch!!!! Our server was so sweet. Kept checking in on us regularly. Food was great. They have mimosas!!!!!! Such a cute little diner. Will be back again next time I’m visiting in London.

I had the perfect Omelette, it was the right amount of salty, well done (like I requested), hash browns were delicious (wish there were more lol) and the toast had just the right amount of butter so one side always had a nice crunch. All in all I know I’ll be back.

Just a classic, old-school diner. Our server was lovely and the food was great - huge servings, fast, and very reasonably priced. We tried the deep fried hash browns, regular home fries, and grilled home fries with onions as sides, and all of them were delicious. Highly recommend this place, we will definitely be going back!

It is exactly what you want it to be. I have been going here for over 20 years and never been disappointed. The service is excellent. The coffee cups are never empty. Food is exactly what you would expect. Nothing fancy but satisfying.

I’ve been a regular here for years. The staff are amazing, super fast service and exactly what you want out of a classic diner plate.

Everything was great. My only suggestion would be to make it clear that the hash browns are not the shredded kind.

Always great! Typical north American breakfast, super customizable and simple to order. It you're looking for a good greasy breakfast for a good price, this is the place! Waitress' are incredibly kind and efficient. Always super quick with cleaning tables and getting you anything you need, even during a rush. Food itself is pretty good for its price and speed you get it. Would recommend!

OLD STYLE DINER gives this place its charm: It has looked the same for all the years that I have been eating there. Solid, inexpensive food and very friendly staff (servers Tamara and Natasha have a gentle manner and easy smiles that keep you as warm as the bottomless coffee cup: Adrian the owner is pretty good, too. LOL). A weekly go-to for my sister and I!

After searching for an all day breakfast restaurant in London, our group of 5 tried the Westside Family Restaurant. So after reading a bunch of good reviews we're going to add another one. The server Duresa was fabulous and everyone was happy with their meals. When you order your breakfast get the home cooked potatoes with onion. The restaurant has the classic diner look and family run, which is something we strongly support. We will return the next time we're in London. Great job folks

Nice little restaurant. Waitress was awesome! Food was quick and delicious. The only thing that surprised me was they charged for hot water?

Still my favorite breakfast spot to date. We drive in from Strathroy just to eat here. Inside is getting a little worse for wear.

The entire staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and the price was well worth the service, will return next time I'm in London :)

They pushed closing time back to accommodate a large group just before their afternoon close so that was greatly appreciated and it made for quick service which was nice with 6 kids under 5. My burger was not as good as I might have hoped and I heard the same about the hot turkey sandwich. The fries were good. I don't think I would go back but it was better than fast food.

The breakfast here is good. They have three choices of hash browns, lots of breaky choices. Decent eggs Benny. Not great on atmosphere but if you like an old style Diner, this is for you. Service is decent. Be warned tho they do not take credit cards - debit and cash only.

The breakfast menu has lots of variety but they also offer soups, sandwiches and light dinners. Favourite items include an awesome Clubhouse sandwich with salad and gyros with a Greek salad. It is a diner with stools at the counter and booths or tables. The food has been consistently good and service excellent.

Okay so we have been to over 20 breakfast places in London and area so feel pretty good at comparing. This is London's best kept secret even though it has been in existence for over 25 years. No secret to the area locals as it was packed to the gills 25 minutes after we arrived and the in and out flow of customers continued all the while we were there. Service was pleasant but slow until second waitress arrived. May not be the best place if you are in a hurry. Place was pretty clean and organized despite the constant turn over.
I had their basic breakfast which included 2 eggs, brown toast, 3 strips of bacon, 2 sausages, 2 triangle potato patties and coffee.
Partner had pemale Bacon breakfast that included eggs, brown toast, 3 large pieces of Pemale bacon, potatoes and coffee and said everything was cooked well and served hot.
My eggs were not well cooked and had to be sent back resulting in a not so hot meal.
Despite this I would go back if in the area. Price fair for the amount of food.
Best breakfast place in London hands down is Scores. It rates a 5 in every category. Best presentation is Billy's and the Morrissey House. Always fun to try new places.

The breakfast is superb, the lunch is superb. Great daily specials. Prices are excellent for the quality and quantity. Atmosphere is simple but homey, always busy with pleasant chatter going on but always room for one more. Home fries need to be asked for as cooked harder as they have them a bit wet. Waitress frequently offers refills on coffee.

Where Good People Meet For Good Food. I've been going to the West Side since I moved to London...in 1982. Since then, it has had at least 3 different owners. And all 3 have managed the place wonderfully. First, though, you have to realize that this is an EXTREMELY popular place among (UWO) students and local regulars. So if you're going there on a weekend, be prepared for a bit of a wait. The owner does his best to accommodate everyone quickly, but admittedly, sometimes his "expediency" can be mistaken for a lack of politeness. However, truth-to-be-told, the owner is very courteous and polite and accommodating, and he goes out of his way to try and make all of his patrons feel welcomed.

The food is very good diner quality. I often go there for breakfast, and theirs is one of the best cooked I've had in London. Most notably, their breakfast is NOT greasy like so many others. My health-concious friends RAVE about his chicken souvlaki.

The wait-staff are VERY friendly and courteous. Frankly, I think the crowds that consistently dine here speak for themselves. People wouldn't keep going back if the food and service were anything less the great. This is NOT the Ritz, but it''s a fine quality clean diner with reasonable prices and good food.

Also. No signs saying NO CREDIT. so just cash or debit. Thanks for being an inspiration for how not to run a customer-experience-centred business. Fail!!!
AshleyAnne
I like it here but they don't take credit and the 2 times I've been here there were two big tables and we just got kind of ignored. You do get a lot of food for the price and it's not as shady inside as it looks outside
