Dandy's is a small independent burger place that beats most burger chains. The burger was big but very thin and was a bit overcooked and dry. Service was good and staff friendly. I would go back again to try again.
the burger was charbroiled not just reheated like at Harveys, place was clean staff were very friendly and i had the combo with a greek salad came on a plate very large and excellent had to get a doggy carton to take the other half home will definately go back even though we live in the north end of London

OK folks, yesterday I committed an amateur grave sin of writing a review on a wrong restaurant. I meant to review Dandy's Charbroiler, not Dooly's Shawarma. It's the other Middle Eastern themed restaurant. Not Barakat either. Barakat is another one. I have deleted the wrong review.
Sorry about that!
So, Dandy's (not Dooly's) is very consistent. I have been a returning customer since 2005. They have good burgers especially the half pound homemade one. My favourite is the rib eye one.
Woe is me. Went to my favourite burger joint in London on Friday and ordered my regular Dandy's combo. Was called up to the counter to choose my toppings and Horror of Horrors they served the fries pulled out of a bag!!! I don't know about you but the main reason I went to Dandy's was to enjoy their fresh peeled and cut fries. GONE!!!!! to top it off they changed the bun to a harder, thicker bun. I ate half the burger and dumped the rest. If you are going to charge $10 for a burger you better have something that sets you apart from every other burger place out there. In my mind it was the fries and a decent bun. Both gone and so am I.
Burgers and shawarmas are good but don't really like the fries
Great Burgers!. Ahh the Dandy Burger, what a work of beauty!
In my personal opinion the best burger in London!
I have not been to Dandy's for years. I stopped in for lunch and It was still a great burger.
You portion size is good too.
Definitely a hamburger place worth trying!
Order:
7oz burger in a combo with fries.
Sirloin Steak sandwich combo with onion rings.
Burger was fantastically priced and massive in serving size. It was delicious. Absolutely had a hint of cinnamon and the burger meat tastes heavenly with fresh toppings from the topping bar. Fries were delicious, steak cut style and lightly salted.
Sirlion Steak burger was phenomenal. It’s rare I find a place that offers this, so when I see it I go for it and it did not disappoint. Love the grill taste on the steak.
Only thing we didn’t care for were the onion rings, too much batter in my opinion. I’m sure it’s popular, just not our thing.
Great customer service though! Love the topping bar as well! They looked fresh.
Next time we come back to London, we’re going straight to Dandy’s.
This is the best place for fish and chips. It's true! Hand battered fish, cooked til crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. They've changed up the chips and they are big fat creamy fries! The kind of fries you dream about!
When I saw the sign that this was the #9 Best Burger Place in Ontario, I was excited to check this restaurant out.
What I ordered:
1 x Bacon Cheeseburger
1 x Onion Rings
What I liked:
Service ✅ the service was top notch. There was someone training while I was there and they were still attentive. You can see they value customer service and have lots of ‘regulars’.
Dining Area ✅ lots of seating. Booths and dining tables.
Burger ✅ Burger was a solid 7.8/
10. I can’t say that it’s the best in Ontario but could compete for the top 10 in London. The patty is thin which I like and large in diameter.
What could’ve been better:
Greasy ❌ let’s just say, the burger bun was glistening. The rings were very greasy but they just came out of the fryer soooo…. I guess that contributed to it.
Fryer Oil ❌ I guess they use the same fryer for everything. The onion rings tasted like fish and chips which threw me off taste wise. I don’t think the oil has been changed in a while.
Onion Rings ❌ due to the fishy taste and overall greasy coating, I added two in my burger and through out the rest. If you look at the photo though, they look great. I think if they dedicated a fryer to fries/rings, the flavour wouldn’t be dominated by other foods.
Overall, the burger was decent and the service was outstanding so I may return. They also have a Philly cheesesteak that looked alright. Give them a try !! 💯
I have been a customer of Dandy's for as long as I can remember.
However, Evan and the staff have always provided a world class quality of customer service and hospitality. They always have reached my expectations. The food is always excellent but the staff always makes you want to come back to Dandy's.
Thank you again Evan and staff at Dandy's.
After my root canal,
And some “back to school” shopping for my son,
My better half and I were hungry.
I wanted a juicy burger,
And he said;
“I got the place”.
When he said;
“Dandy’s”,
I said;
“Oh where the BEST friend mushrooms are?”….
Dandy’s did NOT disappoint.
The onion rings were FRESH and delicious,
Our hamburgers were grilled to perfection,
Their Kaiser bun is so fresh and tasty,
Again - In London for an appointment and some shopping,
To finish off with a great “cheat” meal before heading home…
This place was worth it.
A bit expensive,
But we like to take a break from cooking our healthy meals.
Their friend mushrooms are so good,
I’d have them everyday if I could!
The homeburger was delicious, as were the fries! The onion rings were good, but perhaps too much dough for our liking. We’d definitely return and try some of their other menu items!
NEZAR APPROVED!
I have been visiting this place for the past 8 years the staff and owners are wonderful people and have treated me like family from day one. It’s hard to make a hamburger unique and authentic to your establishment. That being said I will go on record saying:
The “Dandy’s homemade burger” is ONE OF THE TOP 4 BEST BURGERS I HAVE EVER DEMOLISHED! This list is an exclusive list, the burgers must score a minimum 11 out of 10. All burgers in this list are tied in ranking. Yet Dandy’s has the lower price by a long shot.
Lastly I have to mention the consistency both in value, taste and price. This burger will fill you up (without the pain of heavy grease). The taste is a clean charbroiled high quality beef taste. And the price has remained reasonable over the years. Overall an incredible place, I wish many years of success and blessings on this establishment. Thank you for bringing me joy and feeding my hunger!
I haven't been in years and I'm not sure why. If you, like me, haven't been in a while, go. The burgers are their own thing. Massive, toasty bun, made the way you like it, and charred in a way that works for me. Try the onion rings, but share an order with a friend. They are like fresh made crunchy onion fritters. It's Dandy, and it's been there for a thousand years for a reason.
If you're looking for a tasty burger in London, Dandy's is definitely worth checking out. I tried their double cheeseburger and it was delicious.
Overall all i recommend this place
A London staple in the south end
I have been coming to get a Dandy’s burger for about 20 years and they are still doing it right
A giant handmade burger cooked on a grill rather than a flat top - lots of great char and they will dress the burger to your liking
The French fries alone are worth the trip
All around great spot that you need to try if you haven’t yet
GREAT HOMEMADE FOOD! Their fries are home-cut.. and better than "Arena Fries"! That's not something easy to accomplish!
Their burger meat is defintely extra-lean ground beef, with minimal binder to hold the patties together. Tons of toppings on your burger if you want them, and great sides portions.
Their menu has a little bit of everything, from burgers, to souvlaki, to fish & chips, to poutine! Something for everyone.
I loved this place and will be back, AS OFTEN AS I CAN!
Thank you for such an authentic, well rounded, and great tasting burger! Magnufique!!! 😋
My first visit I played it safe and got the burger. While waiting I got to watch them make the Philly Cheesesteak, and my jaw dropped 😮. I've had some of the worst luck with Cheesesteaks, so much that I don't even try anymore. The burger satisfied, but after seeing what I saw I was itching to come back for the Cheesesteak. 🤤
And I did.
Later that week I fired up their mealsy website, ordered a Cheesesteak with HP, and salivated all the way to pickup. It was great, and while I love HP, it was maybe too strong of a flavor. 🤔
I've been back 4 times since for the "hot sauce" version, 'cause frankly, it's one of the best sandwiches in the city ❤️. The sweetness of the vegetables doesn't get masked by the hot sauce; The bread has the perfect combination of freshness and chew; The steak is sliced and cooked just right. It's fantastic. Hats off to Dandy, whomever you are. 😋
There's an EV charger across the street at the Canadian Tire gas station (please don't block the Chadmo). Parking and running across the street to grab lunch seems to be my routine now. 😅
