Review King Of The Pigs - London

Renee Riley
Ordered online for pickup, it was quick and easy and the food was delicious. Ordered the chicken and ribs. The chicken was moist and flavourful and the ribs were fall off the bone good. It’s not the first time we have ordered from King of Pigs and it absolutely won’t be the last time.

Best Chicken in London hands down. I have been going to Kings for about 15 years now. They give you free bread and olives while waiting for your meal. I go to the Cherryhill Mall location as its closer for me. It's a calm mellow environment, no music or tv's. Good place to take a date. Rice and French fries are awesome. Obviously the sauce is the key to their success, you can buy their sauce as well. Always a treat when I can go eat here.

The fact that King of Pigs (Strathroy) followed up to check on us about our experience with them speaks volumes about their customer service! It’s been excellent every time we go there. The Strathroy location is the best one of the three and I say this ordering many times from all of them. The food is excellent with good sized portion and has a very nice ambiance. We’ve been customers for years now and would highly recommend them. In fact,we live in London and still prefer this location the most.

We placed an order for a party of 10 for pick and when we arrived the two young men asked how many people because there was A LOT of food, I said we had a bout 10 and he was shocked because the order would feed at least 30! Granted my husband placed the order but he he wouldn’t have ordered that much (haha). They thought perhaps it was an error at time of order and they wouldn’t feel good making us take all that good home even though they had already made it! I have to say how impressed I was by these two young men for even thinking of making the change for us, we were beyond impressed and very grateful. Well done! Oh, and the food was amazing, ribs and chicken!!

We ordered take out and we’re very pleased with our food. The potions were more than generous and delicious! We picked up our order and were able to see the restaurant as well. It was extremely neat, clean and organized. We look forward to ordering again and next time eating at the restaurant. We’re glad strathroy has such as excellent establishment.

Amazing and authentic Portuguese food. Clean, welcoming environment, with helpful and friendly staff, delicious house made sauces, and food served quickly. Great place to stop for lunch or dinner, eat in, or take out, Uber eats or skip the dishes, this place is a Must Try & you will come back!

Good service. Looks like popular place for lunch. This is a Portuguese restaurant located inside a senior mall. I ordered the chicken, pork bun and soup. The chicken was juicy and tender. The pork bun and soup were tasty. Overall, I had a very satisfied lunch.

We love King of Pigs. We order take out at least once every two weeks. We have tried a number of things on the menu and all are amazing. Hard to choose! You can’t go wrong! Highly recommend.

Ordered takeout and it was fantastic! My 15 month old even liked the chicken and rice (if you have a toddler you know they can be picky). The steak was perfectly cooked and tender, potatoes are always great. Food was hot and fresh and we will definitely be back!

We had King of the Pigs cater our backyard wedding in London. They were phenomenal to deal with prior, making planning very straightforward and simple. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious, our guests continued to comment on the incredible meal (and of course the tarts too)! The catering service was extremely affordable for the large amount we needed. We are so happy we had King of the Pigs cater our wedding and would highly encourage others to do the same.

I love pulled pork sandwich and this establishment serves one of the tastiest ones in town. Furthermore, they also offer a delicious unique hot sauce to accompany your meal. In addition, if you are looking for a good dessert you should order their Portuguese tart. The espresso serve here, in case you are into strong hot drinks is very good, that statement is according to my wife who loves strong and quality taste coffee. This small joint is located in Cherry Hill mall (a senior mall). Since this location has very few seats available and it is quite crowded for lunch time, good luck because you may be waiting for a while. In spite of timing, it is totally worth it to try their pork dishes which are fantastic. Services so far has been friendly and quick, I guess I have been lucky. In terms of price is quite reasonable for all budget types.

Ordered takeout and it was AMAZING!! Portions were huge, potatoes and vegetables were so good! Ordered 1/2 rack of ribs, sandwich and pork cutlet. They came with a side, we chose 2 salads and fries. The side portions were incredible! Lasted us 2 days! We'll order from them again! Cherryhill Mall, London ON location.

We have ordered many times and always good food and a great experience. Our preferred take out meal.

I love this place. The servers are friendly. The atmosphere reminds me of spending time with my expended family because you feel so welcomed into the restaurant. Most importantly, the food is amazing.

Great food. Not a place you go for the atmosphere. I typically order pick up but sometimes grab lunch. Gotta' love Portuguese cooking. The cheese they serve is delicious. My favourite are the custard tarts.

The review is about the location inside Cherryhill village Mall.

Atmosphere :
Nothing to really talk about. The entire dining area is about 100sqft. Seats a maximum about 20-25 people. Cramped feel. Usually patronised by the local senior citizens.

Food :
Decent food, generous potions. But quite expensive. I don't agree with the people who moans about the food being dry tough and full of gristle. Pork is their bread and butter. And they do it right. Issue is the cost. You will leave with a full stomach and an empty wallet.

Caveats:
opens around lunchtime, but closes when the mall closes close to 9pm. Don't plan on a late romantic dinner. Don't think I will go back, because of the cost.

Not the best at any rate. Our first time going to this restaurant, won't be back.Took my wife and parents.Thought I'd be pro-active and look at the menu online before we went, beware! the dinner I had(baby-back ribs with 1/4 chicken and fries) was $20 online and $24 when we looked at the menu at the restaurant.Definitely need to update their site. My wife ordered the side ribs and 1/4 chicken with roasted potatoes and all our chicken was very oily-greasy and her ribs were tuff and full of grizzle. She ordered white meat but it was dry and tuff also. Her roasted potatoes were cold and soggy. My mom ordered a steak which wasn't too bad but not cooked the way she ordered it Mentioned it to the waitress only to fall on deaf ears. Too expensive for the meal we got, there's much better rib-chicken joints in town

Terrible Service, Mediocre Food.. First time visiting and it will certainly be my last. The food was average, but the service was terrible. We arrived at 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd, but even with a nearly empty restaurant, we we waiting over 30min for our food, which consisted of a small portion of dry chicken and some grocery store french fries (which were cooked in the same oil as the fish).
When I asked for ketchup, none was ever brought to our table! As for refills, I had to walk up to the bar and wait another five minutes for service!! Never before have I felt so disregarded as a customer.
From my observations, it was clear that the Regulars received prompt service, but if you're a new face, service is non-existent.
Prices were steep, food was average at best, service was totally unacceptable. Never again will I be returning.

It is what it is... And DAMN GOOD at it!!. You are not coming here for a romantic night.. You are coming here for some of the best BBQ chicken in town. Plain and Simple.
A classic mom and pops joint where the food speaks for itself.
There is something beautiful about a place that doesn't try to be anything else but true to itself... It's a honest presentation... And damn good food!

Disgusting!!!!. This place is so filthy when you walk in. No idea how it has such a high rating. I wanted to leave as soon as I walked in but I was told this place has incredible food. NOOOOOOOOOO. The food is greasy very very greasy. The staff is super rude. I suppose if you are used to eating on a dirt floor and have had only rice for years then it may be a step up.

Everything I and my party ordered was absolutely disgusting....flavourless and greasy. No one finished their meal we took a few bites ...PAID for the garbage, and left.

Racist staff. Great food, aweful service......Unless you're portuguese.

When Profit Margin replaces Integrity. Hello everyone. This is my very first review comment so bear with me because it took a lot for me to gather my self enough to inform and draw attention to an epidemic that seems to be taking place with small biz..

I would like to be able to say that KotP is "still" a place where you could come regardless of what type of company you might have, to enjoy the authenticity of Portuguese cuisine, since im married into this culture and of which im a big fan!

I beg you, if you VALUE your hard earned money, let some of this info percolate in your minds for a few seconds!!

Not having been their for a little over a year I honestly didnt expect that things would be a 180¤ degrees from how we remembered it. Gone are the days of an actual Portuguese salad that used to contain things like peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, and onions in abundance. Our lg salad was mainly composed of bleached lettuce roots, n not more then five pieces of rotten tomatoes n cucumber (not rotten) each.

Gone are the days when meat came off the bone, ribs n chicken both, just by placing your mouth on it. Now days ribs are more chewy than a piece of gum n chicken is dryer then las vegas air.

We ordered a whole chicken that came without one of its legs, and once we mentioned this, all of a sudden I had forgotten about ordering 3/4 of a chicken, hmm..

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, be prepared that there is a chance to have your meal shared with incredibly (i say this because im well aware of how loud portuguese can be, its one of their cultural characteristic that is genuine and i dont mind at all ) loud n intoxicated, not sure who they are or what they do, young adults who are in total oblivion to others around them, and I guess it wasnt really a big deal since no staff made an attempt to address them.

This restaurant at present is a beautiful example of what happens when local small business gives up "Integrity" for the sake of "Profit Margin"!

Please be individual thinkers "but" limit needless learning on YOUR OWN SKIN!

Cressco

Fail. We felt unwanted and the servings were plain and blah. The meat is nice but presentation needs huge work. Expensive too. Won't return.

The one on hamilton road is good food but the owner does not know how to run his business. They fire all the good workers and keep the ones who dont have respect. Theres one waitress who was recently fired and she served me regulary and there gunna loose business cause i wont return

AMAZING chicken!!!. My fiance brought home a chicken from there a couple years ago and after that we were hooked! Whenever we want to pick-up a dinner that involves chicken we automatically go for King of the Pigs!!! I absolutely LOVE their chicken and we always order their fries with it that are delicious too. The fries compliment the chicken very well. I'm addicted!!! :)

Really good. I thought the food was great, I ordered the 1/2 chicken sand which with the noodle soup and a salad, my husband had the 1/2 chicken dinner, we both agreed the food was good and th price was right, the place could be a little bigger, but all in all, we will definitely return.

Worst restaurant ever. My boyfriend and I heard from a couple that King of Pigs was amazing...so we dined there this evening. I ordered the quarter chicken dinner and he ordered the pork cutlets. However, the pork cutlets were pork chops. We ordered it with salad for the side order. When the food arrived we were surprised that the salad was on the same plate as the chicken and the pork cutlets. The only salad dressing they have is oil and vinegar. The salad was, at best mediocre. The juices from the meat turned the salad into a soggy warm mess of cucumber, lousy tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. I understand there is some sort of spicy chicken oil that is supposed to come with it. It might have helped with the flavor. The food was bland and the restaurant has no atmosphere and lousy music. It seems the music is the choice for those who work there, not the customers..the only good thing I can say is the waitress was pleasant..she should seek employment elsewhere. She would probably get better tips.

Dis-coloration...?. First off, if you go anywhere that is a non-'european' place,
chances are you are going to be 'as' welcomed than their own kind,
to a certain extent. Obviously, this sort of discrimination can depend
on many factors.

I will give you some insight though. I am half-vietnamese and half-chinese
and I get dirty and not-so-pleasant looks from my own kind 'wherever' the hell I am,
so obviously it is not just a matter of race that may have brought you the dirty looks.

Though, I must agree that I do not like dirty looks as well, but needless to say,
if the food is prominently satisfying and the service was up-to-par, then don't let it stop you.
Bare in mind you, getting a dirty look from a certain individual or place doesn't really count as
service per se. Some people just go around their day in public and/or personally with dirty looks
for some to most of the days anyways. We all carry ourselves differently, so the next time
you get a dirty look, instead of just trying to get through the meal so you don't have to see
that/those ugly mugs again, just go about it as if you don't care (only if the food/service is up to par though),
otherwise, get the hell out of there, why bother.

But it sounds like you liked the food enough that you would have gone back if you never received
that dirty look or two, right...? There are obvious ways of avoiding this and still enjoying their food,
it's just a simple matter if your personality allows you to do so.

P.S. -
This was addressed to the user 'SilverBeast',
but surely it was not restricted for him.

Amazing Chicken. Ive eaten at both locations and definatly prefer the one on hamilton. The potion size os actually really great. All dinners are served with bread, olives and dont forget their authentic chicken oil hot sauce! For 12.50 u xan get a half roasted chicken with either a huge gelping of fries, rice, salad or a combination of two. I definatly recommend this place to people who like a bit of spice.

Good food Bad Service. Hamilton Rd location: They don’t like white people here. If you are not Portuguese you will get dirty looks and be ignored while you wait to order. As much as I like the food I will not order anything from them again, it’s just not a comfortable environment to be in unless you are Portuguese. You have to stand at a Bar in the way of the waitress and other patrons to order and the owner is very arrogant and kind of looks like the logo without the crown.

Go to Hamilton Road location. I've dined at both locations, dinner from Hamilton road and a take out lunch from the Cherry Hill location.
Our dinner was absolutely delicious, the ribs, chicken, vegetables, fries all amazing. The service is definitely lacking, however the food makes up for it!!
Take out lunch from Cherry Hill was good, I do agree with previous comments regarding greasy chicken. The ribs though were fall off the bone and just as delicious as I remember them being.
I would recommend this restaurant for sure, just be sure to hit the Hamilton Road location.

Was at the one on Hamilton Rd location and thought the ribs and chicken had some good flavours But the ribs were dry and the chicken greasy. We didn't get menus either. Kinda in between in if I will go back. Cheers.

Greasy Chicken. The chicken is really greasy and after you eat it you smell bad from all the grease. The chicken is also over priced. Costco and Wal-mart have better deals and the chicken is way healthier. I would rather eat KFC then eat that chicken again.

Worst Restaurant in London. The worst restaurant I have been to in a while. I give it a 1 out of 5. The waitress was extremely nice, hence the one. However, the food was mediocre. I got the pork ribs with fries. The fries were good however the ribs were dry, flavorless and burnt in some areas. The store manager refused to let us use a 2 for 1 coupon which they advertised and i purchased on the radio. He raised his voice and was very difficult. I would not go back and I warn anyone who eats here. The food is not worth the price.

If the customers knew about urbanspoon this would be the highest rated restaurant in London. I've only had the chicken lunch but I've had it a lot.
