Good reasonably priced sandwiches. Great dessert selection. Made to order cakes are good but pricey. Service is friendly. I found the coffee to be better than average.
I hope the desserts are better as I love the place in Toronto but after a few sips I have to say the absolute worst coffee ever!! What an insult to a Portuguese place to serve such a terrible cappuccino!! Truly awful. I may edit this review once I try the desserts.
Update - raised my rating from 1.5 as the tarts were quite nice (not as great as I've had in the past but good enough). Coffee was the huge disappointment.
BEST DESSERTS IN TOWN! Lunch is very reasonably priced and you HAVE to get dessert when you're there. The HUGE display of cakes and pastries will have you picking out your dessert the second you walk in. 5 out of 5! AMAZING.
Nova Era has the blast-from-the-past old-world-European entity feel to it, and I mean it in a good way (Many times people have the misleading nostalgic 'memory' of the good ol' days while in reality those were not accurate and really were the opposite - Psychology 101, anyone? Well, this one is real; real good, that is). Many things they have casually lie behind their counter are really invoking past memory for me. Real freaky!
I think the bakers are doing great job. Keep up the great job! I say, give'em a chance!
If you ever try to stop by over the weekend, then, good luck in finding parking spot!
Holy Harness Racing is this a good place! Located in a small strip plaza on Egerton Street just South east of the Fairgrounds, this place is a can't miss bakery. Bright fresh interior with a smattering of tables for those wanting to eat in. Staff was courteous and helpful. Ordered to take out.
We ordered the chicken Club and Chicken Breast sandwiches. Although this type of sandwich is a popular restaurant item this tasted a little special as it was served on fresh baked Portuguese buns.
We ordered a variety of desserts including the fresh and yummy cannoli and both the orange and red bean tarts. These were both absolutely delicious and would highly recommend.
There were so many other delicious looking menu items and pastries that I vowed to return. Prices pretty reasonable. Have to tell everyone as you probably would not find it by chance.
This place is a great spot for a quick lunch and pastries. Whenever I would take a trip down to London, I would have family & coworkers asking me to bring them back their Pasteis De Nata, their version of mille feuille, and fresh bread.
Their sandwiches with grilled chicken or pork are awesome as well.
Their stuff is always fresh, and the owners are awesome people. The place is also absolutely nuts around the holidays, too. You have to place your orders well in advance if you want to have any hope of getting them.
I'd highly recommend this place.
Great Place for Coffee Break. Excellent coffee and pastries, friendly service.
Went here for lunch with my cousins, and the food was so amazing, and very well priced ! I can’t wait to tell other people about this place! Not to mention our server Lucas was super friendly & did a great job! 10/10 recommend!
What a great place. Such kind staff. Great food. The bread and rolls are so good. The desserts are amazing. Our server made a special drink for my mom. We had the steak sandwich, and it was really good. We shared it it was so big.
Excellent first experience as we passed through on our travels. We just had dessert which was a Strawberry-chocolate cake that deserves 6 stars! We also had a Swiss roll, a bit dry so 4 stars for the delicious chocolate taste.
Server was excellent, but I t was a bit confusing figuring out the difference between walk up and table service.
Will definitely come again on our next trip and try some deli lunch.
Delicious food with EXCELLENT service! Clean and wonderful aesthetic to enjoy good food with good vibes! Definitely reccomend😀 Our server Lucas was delightful!
Spectacular service, food and a great place to hang out while enjoying some of the finest baked goods in town. Great for dates, hanging out with friends, or just a solo visit.
Delicious. They offer table service now in their new addition and the staff are super great.
If I'm in the area I will always stop in to refill my coffee mug with some of their delicious brewed coffee. I will also pick up a few treats along the way. Their donuts are delicious and always fresh. And the Portuguese tarts are probably some of the best in town.
I frequently have stopped in here for lunch and it never fails to please.
Went first time.. very good experience.. food is amazing..
Lovely Portuguese bakery with lots of yummy treats, breads, flans. We tried a selection of desserts (tarts, eclairs, egg cake with jam, and lots more) and everything was scrumptious. Got a pack of Portuguese muffin to go and they were lovely for breakfast the next morning. Love that they have parking and lots of space to go with the kids. Staff was polite and place was very clean. Prices seemed fair over all.
Nova Era is the best Portuguese bakery in town, their Natas, cannolis, and chicken sandwiches are amazing! Also a super cute aesthetic, 10/10 recommend!
the food is always super fresh. I’ve been coming to this location for over 10 years and the service is always so wonderful and the staff is so so kind and patient!! i love coming into this place 🥹
