I love greek salads. My grandmother lived very close to where Icarus is located at 519 Richmond Street on Central Avenue across from Victoria Park. So this part of London, Ontario, has been, since the mid-1930's, 'MY-London-neighborhood'.
Neat name, Icarus Restro Bar. Icarus (in Greek Mythology) was the Son of Daedalus who dared to fly too near the sun on wings of feathers and wax. Getting too near the sun flying with his wings caused the wax to melt and poor Icarus fell to his death.
So off we went to Icarus Resto Bar for a Greek Salad. Fun visit. We intentionally go during non-rush hours. We do not care one-iota, we do not care one-whit, at how long we have to wait because we enjoy each others company and the ambiance of new-to-us restaurants. A Greek Salad is cold so we had no issues with cold food. We found our server to be polite and professional. We enjoyed our Greek Salad. What's not-to-like really.
And? We will return at some unknown-to-us future date.
Visited this place at the London annual Wine and Food Show in the Metroland Center and were able to purchase two delicious lunch servings. I had the spinach and phylo pastry and partner had the lamb meatballs. Will be revisiting restaurant soon as londilicious festival has just started and there are 30! other places to select from. Great time to be a foodie!
Relatively new restaurant in London. Food is good and service is great. Nice setting simple and very clean. One thing is that they made the alley way next to the restaurant greasyand smelly for some reason. However the restaurant itself is definitely worth trying.
Great service, decent meal
Delicious Meal! Great service. Restaurant was very nice, however for being there for 3 years it appears the restaurant isn't quite finished decorating. However, great place and would go again.
Good restaurant overall, very small staff team at lunch so there is a bit wait. Food is very good, portion is on the generous side. Less salt, fresh ingredients, more flavor, good wine list. Very clean and nice decor. Wait staff is likely the owner who's very nice.
I enjoyed an excellent dinner at Icarus last night with a friend of mine. I had rabbit, and he had lamb, both were beautifully cooked and so flavourful. Rabbit isn't on their usual menu, so I was lucky to have the chance to try it. I liked the atmosphere, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great experience!
I had the Lamb Roast which was extremely tasty. And despite the fact they were slammed, service was fast and attentive. However...A hair was found...Which happens...So I won't totally knock them because everything else was great.
Ate here with a group of 6 (4 adults, 2 children). This place has the fundamentals of a great restaurant, has a lot of potential. The food is amazing - delicious, flavourful and expertly presented. Even though they have no kids menu, they were very accommodating - perhaps this is an area they can add/improve.
The restaurant on the whole gives off a very classy vibe, but the juxtaposition of the atmosphere with what you experience is strange. The female staff are inappropriately dressed for the job. Clothes are skin-tight and incredibly distracting. Not really high end classy attire. In the words of my wife, "I couldn't stop looking, so I can't imagine how you must have felt".
The tables look very cheap and worn compared to everything else in the restaurant. Generally it looks as if they're having trouble budgeting for good dining room decor.
I was also shocked to find that they had no draught beers and no bar. When I came in to this "resto-bar" I expected...yes....a bar. Very strange. They said they're putting one in, so it sounds as if the space is just unfinished, but imo, this is one of the FIRST things a venue like this should be concerned about.
The portion sizes are MASSIVE. I could barely get through my meal and I'm a big guy. Being that the food is AMAZING, if they reduced the sizes slightly, not only would they save a buck, but it would probably look way classier too.
On the whole - lots of potential, but it needs greater attention to detail. Would probably eat there again. Hopefully they have a bar by then...
The food was delicious, the portions were more than expected, and the service was great. Even with a group of 8 they were efficient and didn't make any mistakes.
I've been to this place many times, including the first day it opened. I've never had anything less than outstanding service. The food is consistently fresh and delicious.
The food was pretty good. Some things weren't available on the menu. Good atmosphere for dinner. The music was a little loud.
This place rocks and not just for dinner, their lunch experience was amazing the last time I was there! Classy, chic, small atmosphere, great people!
Incredibly delicious food at very reasonable prices served up by lovely staff and washed down with great wines.
