Review Ta'ke Sushi - London

Came in during lunch on a week day. Food was good and at a reasonable price. Service was also really good. Also really liked the privacy that the booths provide.

This was my first time dining in and I really enjoyed it! We were sat at one of the several booths by the window that have a nice, private atmosphere where the curtains can be closed if you'd like! The staff were all very friendly. Lots of variety on the menu and my Baby Godzilla Roll was a piece of art!

Food was amazing. Excellent service. We were served by a boy named Brian. He is extremely polite. We felt very welcome by him. We got our own booth. A tiny booth. I felt like I was at my home. I am from Hamilton and I wouldn't mind driving all the way there to come here again and again.

very cute spot! love the privacy in the booths it’s so cozy. the hostess was very sweet and made sure to check in on us but also gave us our time. the food was great and the presentation was too! recommend if you want good priced sushi and good atmosphere, was a lot cheaper than a lot of other places for same quality!

This place gives the vibes you're back in 2002. Nice booths and seating area. Avocado roll was good, our Korean soups with rice were better than ok. Good service as well. Not so accessible friendly and could use a cleaning day.

Ordered takeout. Seaweed salad (about a palm size) was $5.49, not worth it just get it fresh straight from the source from Costco. Shrimp Tempura was tasty. Black Dragon Roll was very filling and big but my favourite roll is the Red Dragon Roll. On a different occasion, I got the bulgogi (it feeds three people comfortably) and Yaki Soba with shrimp - both so tasty!

Cute, private little booth to sit in, Sapporo on draft (a personal favoroite!) and an AMAZING menu. I went with the salmon sushi combo and was so pleased! Being from the PNW, salmon is my 'go to' fish, and I am PICKY! It was delicious, nicely portioned, and a perfect fat balance on the filet. Whoever chooses their fish does an excellent job! It also came with a small salad (with a mango sort of dressing that was very tasty!) and a delightful miso soup (that wasnt too salty!!!). Hubs got a yakisoba that was very tasty. Would have liked it spicy, but he forgot to ask. Oh... Almost forgot! He also ordered the spring rolls (excellent quantity and lovely plum sauce!) as an appetizer that were gone instantly! Yum! Love some quick foods before the meal. We both had enough food left over to bring home for a late snack. So nice!!! And for a reasonable price! For meals AND beers (20oz!) it was less than many restaurants we have tried, and the quality and portions were great! I cannot wait to go back and try more things on the menu. I think there is some Korean bbq in my near future! And of course a Sapporo! Cheers!

great experience. Restaurant address is easy to find, waitress are very nice, Philadelphia roll and yam tempura roll are very delicious! Definitely would come next time!

Food was amazing, lots of options to choose from on the menu. Great customer service, loved the private booths to dine in.

From Korean standards to sushi this place always delights. Fresh fish, and charming private cozy closed booths by the windows. Charming and delicious every time!

Possibly best sushi in London! The decor could use a spruce up but the food is amazing. Not all you can eat, but you make that up in the quality. I had the Bento Box C - it was a lot of food and you could tell it was freshly made. Quick and friendly service.

I discovered this lovely eatery on my way to my hotel. Checked reviews before heading here and reviews were all thumbs up. Customer service was friendly and food was awesome!

Food is wonderful delivery was fairly quick. When we eat inside I love the old style building and the atmosphere is so much fun. Clean place and wonderful food.

Amazing ala carte sushi. The salmon was beautiful. Tempura shrimp was crispy and fried in clean oil. Black Dragon Roll was superb. Highly recommended.

I ordered a rock ‘n’ roll sushi roll, and a tuna poke bowl and it is seriously the best I’ve ever had. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again!

4.5/5: It is not every time that you savor a culinary experience for days, the symphony of something cooked and prepared to perfection making you go speechless. We've had that experience with the exemplary Sushi at 'Ta'ke Sushi'.
We were on a Sushi eating spree and we gave this a try since this restaurant had high ratings in 'Skip the dishes'. Little did we know that this was gonna blow our tastebuds away. We ordered the Veggie Combo which came with two pieces of Inari Sushi, 6 pieces of Avocado-Asparagus-Cucumber roll, six pieces of Yam Tempura roll, Miso Soup and Salad. We also ordered the spicy crispy Avacado roll. Believe me when I say, the three types of sushi beat one another, and the tastebuds went berserk. The Inari Sushi made me cry with happiness. It is hard to pick the best of the lot, but my personal favorite was the spicy crispy avocado roll, but we also loved the Yam tempura roll no less. This is the best Sushi I've ever Had! Saiko!
The best part was that though it was completely sumptuous, it felt so light on the palate. Japanese food is something!

By far the best sushi in town. We consider ourselves sushi connoisseurs, trying different sushi from all over the world. This is consistently the most fresh, and best bang for your buck in London. The staff is so friendly. The restaurant environment could use updating but when the food is good and fresh, who cares!

Been here several times and I’m never disappointed! Generous potions. Friendly staff. Private booths. Sushi and sashimi for 2 is always a winner. Miso soup is delicious.

It's been around a year since I've been here. My previous experience informed me not to order any rolls but have some Korean. But if course my wife ordered a couple of rolls which were a disappointment with mushy rice. I ordered the the vegetable bibimbab and it sucked. Instead of making it in an authentic way it was made with regular mushrooms, asparagus, and carrots. Won't go back. The last time I went there they offered a kimchi jigae which was the best I ever had in London. It is no longer on the menu. Very sad that you can't get consistent and quality Korean food with a varied menu. Hope someone fills the void, soon.

Just picked up lunch today 11/16/16 around 11:45am, picked up the Miso Soup, Spicy Crab roll and the China roll. All I have to say is WOW! Just blown away! Such yummy food have nothing bad to say but this is a must go to place here in London located on Wellington Rd near SouthDale Rd.

took an hour and a half to get our food, when we asked where it was after an hour our server asked if we ordered yet. she had no idea we even ordered but 5 minutes before that told us they were making it. the soup came cold but other than that the food was good. when we asked to speak with a manager the server came back and told us she was too busy to talk to us. after haggling with the server and then the manager we were given 40% off our bill and a free dessert. being in the food industry I understand but the service was absolutely terrible and was handled extremely poorly.

Best sushi I've found in London! We tried the Bibimbap too, so good! Service was great and the personal booths make for a super nice date night setting.

BEST SUSHI PLACE IN LONDON. That we've been to so far at least in like 10 years! I have celiac disease as well as a severe wheat allergy, and the staff here are so unbelievably amazing and understanding. They take all your concerns into consideration. The food is amazing, the prices are great, sure it's not all you can eat but it came out to a great price that ended up being cheaper than going out to somewhere like 168. Who needs fancy tech when you could go somewhere with amazingly fresh and delicious sushi?!?! We will 100% be back and we'll be telling EVERYBODY!!! :D Thank you Ta'Ke sushi!

Very disappointed!. My husband and I went here for dinner on Valentine's day, and it was delicious! Great food, great service. We decided to go back again 4 days later after both having bad days to enjoy the delicious, comforting food from here again. Unfortunately, My husband's dinner was brought out so much earlier than mine that by the time my food was brought to the table, he had already finished eating! When my food finally arrived, it was missing the beef (from the bibimbap), and I had to wait to have that brought out as well.
Overall, very disappointing experience, and no discount or anything was applied to our bill due to the error that was made, and to make up for the fact that we couldn't even eat our meals at the same time.
We will never be going back.

10/10 Ordered the medium sa.... 10/10
Ordered the medium sashimi plate and SMOKED SALMON sushi. Never had better sushi. Good luck finding better smoked salmon sushi anywhere else in London

Friendliest staff. I used to go here on a regular basis, because I'd pass it on the way home from university. So this review is a couple months old!
Anyway, when I went to Take Sushi, I usually got either the crispy Spicy rolls, or a Sushi combo with salmon. They use a handheld blowtorch to touch the salmon if you want and it's incredible! (I tried it at home, not as easy as I thought.) They were always welcoming and friendly even if I made the occasional annoying request (let's call a spade a spade).
While their Korean BBQ isn't all you can eat (most are) they bring you a LOT of food. Even for us-and we don't fill up on condiments and sides, just meat. I went once with my boyfriend and once with a friend. It's so fun to cook it yourself and they check on you to make sure you have enough gas in the burner. Yum! I love this place! I strongly recommend it.

Went to Take sushi with a couple friends because we couldn't decide on sushi or korean bbq.... this was an excellent choice. The sushi was super good. And the Korean bbq was the best I've had in London. Our servicer was friendly (and pretty) and the management was professional and please not. 9/10!!!!

Sort of confused by the high urbanspoon rating . Easily much better places in London , the fish was not good quality , seemed to have no flavor , sushi pizza was soggy and limp , mostly rice rolls . Over all over priced and not a good experience , should have walked away when we saw the run down building .

Best sushi in the city. Love spicy mango prawns--their new dish comes with the 10 course dinner.
love the atomesphir of their private booth.

December dinner for 2 is awesome!. Saw their post on facebook for the December sale then I made a reservation and went there yesterday. It was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! 10 course for both me and my friend for only $39 -____-bbb I don't know if they make money for this or not (I really don't think they will for such much food we got), I just wish this deal could go year long !

Love this place!. Great food even better service. The waitress's were not like those all you can eat places--THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE! They were nice and smile at you. They accommodated any request that we asked. Food was delicious and very well presented. Loved the crazy 88 roll and the premium sake that we ordered. We will go back as soon as i can :) !!!

Really great! Best shrimp tempura in London and really good spicy salmon roll. The service was also nice. Definitely try it!

Best Sushi in London. Great service with an even better menu. Our server was very attentive and friendly and was very accommodative to any changes we wanted to make to our orders. He even offered to let us try out new menu features free of charge. The food was excellent quality and would recommend this to anyone interested in a sushi/korean restaurant.

Unique and tasty. I chose this place because they were one of the only places in town that offered Sushi as well as a wide selection of Korean dishes. I ordered the Hwe Dup Bap and it was amazing! It was spicy, fresh and super delicious. They also threw in two miso soups on the house. The sushi roll was fresh and unique. They don't have debit at the door unfortunately, but I will definitely order from this place again!

New BBQ - Delicious and authentic!. I have been going to Take Sushi for about a year and always wanted to try the Korean BBQ. I worried when I found out they had new ownership, but last night I got the combination A and was pleasantly surprised!

My meal came with the traditional side dishes including kimchi and pickled radish but the best part was the barbecue on a grill right at the table. The meat was delicious, especially the spicy pork, and it came with lettuce leaves, fresh garlic, mushrooms, onions and jalapenos. The Samjang (delicious red Korean sauce) was fresh and really added something to the whole experience! My company were new to Korean BBQ and while they were put off at first by having to cook their own food, it made the meal a social, fun experience overall. The service was fast and friendly. The decor leaves something to be desired and I'm hopeful that the new owners will update but overall I found it to be a great value. $50 worth of BBQ left three people extremely full and we were surprised by little dessert squares on the house after our meal.

After chatting with my server, I discovered the sushi chef remains the same which makes me hopeful as Take makes some of my favourite rolls in town. I am looking forward to going back for some Japanese soon!

New Ownership -- Disappointment. We took some friends to the restaurant last night and found out ownership had changed 2 weeks ago.

As long time customers (well over 10 years), disappointing is an understatement.

You no longer get any sides when ordering Korean food. How they expect you to just eat a plate of meat on its own is beyond me. As well, you no longer get miso soup, salad or rice with Japanese orders.

We were asked if we'd like the complimentary miso soup at the end of the meal?! It's almost like the new owners as well as our new server had never been to a Korean or Japanese restaurant before? And a piece of gum with the bill vs fresh fruit?!

One person in our party never got their meal until the rest of us were more than half way through ours. We had to ask about it. And the side order of rice we ordered did not ever come. The only positive thing was the fish looked and tasted fresh. And the tempura was good.

I realize new owners can make whatever changes they want but advertising new ownership will go a long way in managing peoples' expectations. And proper staff training is not optional.

To her credit she kept a cool head. No doubt she will continue to encounter many questions from previous customers in the coming weeks and months. I don't envy her position.

In my opinion, the value isn't there. To pay more and get much less? There is no reason why I would return. And in this economy, it's bad business.

Really Good. Went there on May 21. Ordered a tempura appetizer, two china rolls, a spicy tuna, and a large Sapporo beer. Taste really good. Those are the best ones which I have ever had. Atmosphere was wonderful because of a private booth. Facilities were somewhat outdated but they didn't matter to me. Strongly recommend this restaurant for those who are sushi mania. Surely it is the one of the best sushi restaurants in London. Of course, I will return to the restaurant.
Ana
The pieces were huge !! It was very difficult to swallow.... Bad experience eating there they do not anything about real sushi.
Rachel Dionne
Expensive, but good! The only thing I didn't like on the menu was the rainbow roll, it's way too big! Other than that, no complaints!
Libertydisco
Great Sashimi. Every time I go here the portion servings are bigger than average and the service is fast (mind you I go during quiet times). This is definitely one of the better Asian restaurants in Kingston and the menu has a lot of options with even some Japanese and Korean fusion dishes. Sushi and sashimi are high quality; you'd think you were at a good Toronto or Vancouver restaurant. Prices are decent as well. Nice decor, great atmosphere. Highly recommended to those who have a taste for good Japanese and Korean food.
Islandgirl
Korean BBQ Amazing. Great sushi but even better Korean BBQ - they don't have it written on the sign (which they should!) but it's fantastic. Their hotpot is really good as well.

Decent sushi at a decent price
MB rating 5-10

Amazing sushi. Meal was huge, sushi was amazing and prices are slightly expensive but definitely worth it. The service was great too!

Amazing Korean BBQ. Get the combination for 2

Some of the best sushi I have ever had and the servers are so nice.

Great atmophere. Went today and we got combination B and Bento box A. while cant remember the names of every individual dish we received i can say that i enjoyed most of it. i dislike all miso soup, but this was still better than i have had before. whatever i didnt like was just because i dont like that dish in general, otherwise everything was delicious. we went on a weekday when they are not very busy so the waitress was kind enough tocook our BBQ for us, which was good considering we had no idea how to go about doing it =P. i had some nice unique flavours and a really enjoyed how they decorated the place to look authentic.
Inky
Best miso soup I've ever had has nice chunks of tofu in it. Also love the tempura appetizer and the AAC rolls.

Korean was awesome. We had the Korean BBQ that was fixed at our table. Everything was prepared well and the service was outstanding. Nice menu selections available and quality was very good. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting Chap Jai, Bulgogi or Kal Bi. They were all very delish!!!
Amor Fati
Bad sushi for Big prices. The miso soup was incredibly salty, the salmon sushi came with an incredibly small piece of chewy fish on top, the spicy tuna was messy and not particularly tasty. The China roll was mostly tempura bits and the quail roe was cooked, rather than the raw egg on top of rice. The service was mediocre and the atmosphere was not particularly pleasant, in fact it looked run down and dirty... especially for a 40$ for lunch, without ordering much....
Chelsea
I got a wakame salad, a California roll and a salmon roll, which was just okay. I found the rice to be a bit mushy and the fish didn't taste particularly fresh. It kind of reminded me of sushi I could buy at a grocery store.
