Review 168 Sushi Asian Buffet - London

Bananafish 314
For Christmas this year, I attended a buffet at 168 Sushi Asian Buffet Bar. You can find it at Oxford St. and Wonderland Rd. Here, you order your food on a tablet, and servers work speedily to get your food as quickly as possible. And you might even be served by a robot. I ordered a plethora of sushi, ranging from sushi pizza to sashimi to Las Vegas Rolls. Everything was great, and I have no complaints. The bill was $51. Given how busy it was, I was in awe over the speed of service. The food was coming in as fast as I was placing my orders. 168 Sushi is tailored to those who do not like to wait. P.S. Tony my workmate suggested this, and he was spot on!

I had an excellent experience at 168 Sushi Buffet. The variety of sushi was impressive, and each dish showcased freshness and quality ingredients. The service was attentive and friendly, contributing to an overall enjoyable dining atmosphere. The value for money was reasonable, making it a satisfying culinary experience.

The service was great, christine was super friendly. The place was very clean as well:) sushi was also pretty good we got all You can eat for two adults and it was 60$ w/o tip, which is pretty good considering most places we have been to have been 100$. There was a robot who dropped off food which was pretty cool I’ve never seen anything like it before I would definitely recommend dining in for all you can eat. They also have a customization roll which is great for people who are picky like me

Nice place, clean, really tasty 😋,, the cat robot is nice addition to the place, they have some great rolls combinations, one of the best places i have eaten... is worth the price... a bit work on the restroom and it will be perfect

This restaurant has a mixture of good food and somehow the right use of tech. I believe the popularity of sushi 168 started with its innovative use of a tablet in which till today keeps amazing me. I like the fact you order your food based on the pics and description of the dish, that helps a lot when you are not familiar with names or ingredients. Also, you are more engage to order a new dish when you see how it looks like. The dish serve is similar to the one displayed in the tablet pictures. Restaurant has a modern interior design and most importantly it is clean. Service is polite and quick. Personal preference to visit this venue is weekdays at lunch time because you will find a fairly more decent price than weekends or dinner time. Avoid holidays if you don't want to paid an overpriced meal. An overall, it is a great shushi a restaurant to try different dishes which are tasty. Warning, if you are dessert lover they do not have the greatest options. Hovewever, the ice cream and milk based sweets is worth to enjoy.

The food was amazing, service was awesome and everywhere I looked was stunning, unfortunately I was sat in a back corner and couldn't see much of the restaurant, but still amazing! I loved the cat robot and the food came out very fast!

This was my first time at this 168 location. its large, lots of free parking. It was around 445pm on a Saturday, and fairly empty in the restaurant, yet somehow the food was quite slow getting to us. Also our waitress was non existent after we started ordering on the tablet, for things like napkins, extra soy sauce or even removing empty plates.
Narutosheng
Food comes out fast, they give you extra napkins without having to ask, everything looks and tastes amazing. I think I saved the best for last, #1 sushi place in London.
Anil A.
One of the best Sushi restaurants ever! And they serve the food with robots who sing Happy Birthday too!
L. Spalla
Lots of options, the service was friendly and fast, I’ve been to yes sushi few times but this one was worth the drive!! The robot is pretty fun, my 3yo was thrilled to see it serving our table!!
ena colmenares
As always the excellent food, the shrimp salad very tasty. The waiter very attentive . He explained how the menu works. All the dishes came so fast that we did not have to wait too long to get a meal. The place was quite, parking free, dont have wifi. The best part was a mangos ice cream.

A real hidden gem just off Wellington St. South and a real treasure. An unlimited list of delights for every taste, something for everyone. Soup choices, spring rolls, rice, noodle, meat or vegetable dishes. Sweet, hot or mild for every pallet. Try something new every visit and make a list of your discovered favorites, A full bar to compliment your dinner is available. Service is fairly quick but you want to take your time and savor each delight.

I have visited similar "ipad ordering" all u can eat sushi places like this one but I really liked how there isnt a time requirement between ordering <br/><br/>Staff was really helpful <br/><br/>Sushi was good / small portions of salmon but what do u expect for all u can eat. <br/><br/>Suggestion to restaurant- chill the rice for the sushi, warm rice didnt seem like a great combo<br/><br/>Lastly, clean the ipads screens <br/><br/>Price - surprised! Very Reasonable, deal ! <br/><br/>I would visit again

I always leave super full and satisfied. Good service and cool modern tech savvy way to order food. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion, mood, or dress code.

Lunch today at the Oxford location with my young companion was a tad disappointing. I was told they were too busy to provide chopsticks with a rubber band. Gee, it's Christmas break...you might be prepared for more youngsters. The Teriyaki Salmon was over-cooked, Tempura Shrimp very greasy. All in all a general air of not caring.<br/><br/>On the other hand across the board my friends and I prefer the Dearness Dr location not far from WhiteOaks mall!<br/><br/>
Saurabh Chowdhry
Great sushi. The appetisers are really good, especially the teriyaki beef. Lunch dessert selection is reduced but it's good value for money at 18 dollar lunch price.
Markatimt
Excellent food. Very fresh and good variety. Big Sashimi slices. Also has Thai and Korean food. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The building is very unique and a pleasant atmosphere.

Awesome food! Fast, fresh, wonderful presentation, and the waitstaff was very friendly. Really enjoyed the sashimi. Definitely will be going back when I am in London.

After reading some reviews viewing some pics ( thanks zomato reviewers ) I chose this place as my debute to sushi :) It was mine and my 12 year sons date night and he is an adventure eater as well... We loved it!!! IPad ordering ... brilliant especially for us ignorant folk we got prief write up and great pic. Server Hao was on it :) Food was fast steadily coming to the table hot and delicious :) We reserved seating in advance after reading user reviews and glad we did place was packed. Now for complaints... onion skins were found in 2 different dishes also general Tsao chicken should be renamed General tsao chicken grissle. But pad Thai cream cheese won tons tempura shrimp and hand rolls make up for it :)
HungryHulk
Went in for lunch today with friend around 2 . Had 10 people in front of us . Super busy but got seat quickly . <br/>Place was clean and food was good . Service was quick which I love when you are super hungry . <br/>Tried mostly all vegetarian sushi rolls, loved crispy spicy rolls , vegetable rolls and yam rolls .
Brandon Johnston
Food was good, though they forgot to bring us our drinks. A bit pricey though, for the quality. I'd still go back, just not for a weekend dinner.
Fluffy
Food is sub par, loosely prepared, inexperienced chef, class B ingredients. Service is OK. Nothing to recommend because it's just another mediocre Japanese buffet that we don't need in this city.
Crystal Mcleod
Always very pleased when we go out to 168, the sushi is always fresh and delicious! I absolutely love the steamed shrimp dumplings too, they melt in your mouth! Yes, 168 is a bit more of an expensive meal but very satisfying and a welcome treat after a long work week.  They also have a cool ice bar, something that I have not seen anywhere else, where you can mix balls of flavour in ice chips to make a unique dessert. The staff are great for the most part too, my car battery died in the parking lot last winter when it was soo cold and staff helped me try to boost it!

The last couple of times my friend and I have gone, we get sick when we get home. We used to love going here! But the food has really gone down hill, used to be amazing and now it's just meh, and sometimes absolutely disgusting, I had to send a dish back yesterday because it was gross. We also didn't get a few things that we ordered.
Costa
Good. For all you can eat style was quite acceptable. Focus on sushi and Korean options and not on dimsum nor soups. Fried rices were tasty. Sometimes have to ask servers more than once for something as they often seem distracted and not focuses on your needs.
Kruttika Aggarwal
I love this place. I don't trust any other sushi place in the city, especially for veg sushi. They are very reasonably priced and staff is friendly. Their all you can eat buffet is amazing
Fine Diner
We had the unique experience of ordering from the I-pad and found the service pleasant and quick. All of our portions were well cooked and served hot. This is sort of a "Mandarin light" place to eat as you don't tend to order or take more than you can eat with the portions being small. You would never leave the place hungry and just keep ordering until you are filled. It does not have as many offerings as the large Chinese buffet restaurants but enough quality food to keep most diners happy.. Would definitely return.

We went there on Sunday morning to have lunch. We were the first few people to come in. The server was nice, she showed us how to order food on the ipad. To make the story short we ordered cooked and uncooked food, our cooked salmon has a stale taste to it (gave it to my wife to try and she spat it out) , also the shrimp in the roll starts to get slimy and smelly . My advice is not to come too early, early birds sometimes will get a dead worms from the night before. I give them 3 stars because of their service. I won't come back <br/>
Tania
Came here for a lunch dinner with a party of 76 people. The service was quite attentive and quick (food arrived very rapidly, and water was constantly refilled). However, the quality of the food itself was severely disappointing. The rice fell apart and was mushy, the fish wasn't fresh (the flying fish eggs were plain salty), and the tempura shrimp in the Dragon rolls were completely stale. The one major thing I enjoyed, however, was the shaved ice that came included in the buffet. That's something you don't get to experience every day!
Fei
I absolutely love this place! Food always comes out fast and the server is always around, ready to fill in the empty cups of tea. Great dinner menus, though it does get pricey on the weekends...

This place is great for ayce, if you want Amin quality then all you can eat is out of the question. This still though is a great place for sushi in London
Candace Moyer
Took my friend for her birthday, ordered crab tempura and the crab was wrapped in plastic then deep fried. My friend bit into this. They offered 10% off. What a joke. She literally pulled a wrapper out of her mouth. Disgusting will never return.
Kylie Hope
Loved ordering on the iPad!! Most of the food to me was bland but still good. There are just so many items on the menu. My favourite was the baked scallop it was buttery and garlicky!

Avoid this place, if they pay me I won't eat there!. To be fair I don't know about the food because we decided to leave before trying the place!<br/>The service was so awful ! We simply asked for a different table which there where more than 10 other tables and the manager said these tables are all reserved. Only 2 of tables had the reserve sign!!! And who reserve tables in a buffet place? The manager simply didn't want a change our table and when we said that if you don't give us another table we will leave, he very arrogantly said fine you can leave and so we did!<br/>This guy is SO RUDE that if they pay me and if they have the best sushi on the earth, I won't go there again. I have to say that I have a chain of restaurant (and it's not a Japanese food so not a competitor) myself and if any of my employees speak to a customer like he did, this would be his last day of work at my place. At 186 Sushi, they have forgot all about the customer service!<br/>I hope the owner of the restaurant read this comment and get rid of the so called manager.

Good. Great food. Okay service. I have started asking for a number of rolls without mayonnaise as I feel like they put too much on basically every roll. Interesting iPad order service. Except one time, we didn't get one of our rolls and the waitress said it wasn't coming (which was okay cause we were getting full) and we ordered ice cream... and THEN our roll came. I feel like it would be obvious that ice cream comes at the end of the meal. Also, no debit but ATM in the restaurant.
Tina
The service was horrible. The manager was wearing a sweater and when he sat us all he did was throw the iPad on the table and leave. The server wasn't much help and the food runners just threw our food on the table. The food was all right, nothing special. Only towards the end, when we were asking for the bill, our server, Sandy, was being friendly. Other than that, she was pretty cold and unhelpful.

Great meal. Food and service excellent. Been twice. It's now my favourite restaurant! Go if you want a real treat.

Best Valentines Meal Ever!. My Husband surprised me on Valentines Evening by taking me to your restaurant for the first time. I was IMPRESSED. I love sushia restaurants but had never been to 168 Sushia Asian Buffet and never knew what I was missing. Not only is your food excellently prepared and tasty but your customer service is above normal. Your *New* way of viewing and ordering the food is genius and FAST. I will spread the word to each and every 'sushia loving friend' I have, that your establishment is the place to dine. <br/><br/> Like it ???? I loved it!
Kimberly Medica
One of the better sushi places I have been. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Service was spot on and the food was delicious. <br/>For sure a repeat

Very nice from the moment you walk in. Very friendly staff making sure if it is your first time. The IPad ordering is great for first time sushi people. Photos with every item so you can see what you are ordering. Staff very quick with orders and clearing plates.<br/><br/>There is LOTS to choose from, not all sushi. Nice egg rolls, dumplings, pad thai and excellent Korean beef.<br/><br/>Sushi roll pieces are a bit bigger than I am used to, Crispy Spicy is more crispy than spicy. Tuna roll was really good!<br/><br/>Overall a very good experience. I will go back. Just an FYI, no debit.

Delicious. Accommodated my giant group with great food and service.

168 is awesome!!!!. Great food and outstanding service!!!!!

Great Service, Great Food, Great Experience. I always get taken care of no matter when I am there, whether it's a date or a group of 30+ people, the service, food, and environment are always on point.

Love it!. I visit 168 regularly and it is never dissapointing. The food is always above average and and arrives to the table promptly, even with big groups!

Price goes up as the customer service goes down. Apparently reservations don't mean squat, nor does losing business. <br/>They tell you that you have to make a reservation a day ahead and if you are 15 minutes late they give your table away. So I did exactly what they requested. I made my reservation for 10 people the day before. I come in around 10 minutes early. Of course it's lunch time and this place is crazy busy with people waiting in line (this is why I made a reservation). When I get there I'm told that there are only 2 people here from my reservation and that I have to wait for a table (meanwhile I'm staring at an empty table with 10 seats). These university students (3 of them at the time) where there just before me (who did not make a reservation) ends up being seated at that table for 10. When I ask about my reservation and why I didn't get that table, I was told it was because half of my party was not here yet and that I have to wait for a table. <br/>Finally after waiting for prior customers to leave, we get seated. The owner tells me again that he couldn't seat us earlier because my full party has not arrived. I told him that obviously making reservations does not matter to him and that I'm not coming back again.<br/> His response to me "That's fine."<br/>As a regular customer (normally eat there several times a month) this annoyed me. He is more about making money and not about keeping customers happy.. <br/>I have noticed in my previous visits that the quality of service has gone down greatly. The sushi is not as fresh as it used to be. I have even seen a waitress pour a glass of water back into the pitcher and refill customers glasses with that same water YUCK!<br/>It's time to go somewhere else!

Great for AYCE lunch, not so much for dinner. $15 AYCE lunch is great, especially with a bunch of friends to eat with. Sushi is pretty good quality for the price and service is quick and generally friendly. If you want dinner, however, there are better places in town to blow $25 at.

Cool atmosphere - old fish. This place has a really cool atmosphere, I wish I could say the same for the food. Their salmon looked extremely old, it smelled. Anything spicy salmon is the disreguarded peices of salmon chopped up and put into spicy sauce to mask it. Discusting. They play a birthday song every half an hour that sounds just plain creepy. The servers arent friendly either.
Mike Rankin
AMAZING sushi .... Have never had a bad experience .... Cannot think of a week that we have not been to 168 for atleast lunch
Shane J. Roberts
Overall great. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The servers were fast efficient and very pleasant. The atmosphere was very pleasing dark moody but nice recently renovated. Ordering on the iPad made it quick and efficient. Only minutes from ordering to getting the food it was excellent.
Facebook User
Overpriced for comletely average.. Okay, I will admit the tablet ordering is kinda cool, but other than that the was nothing even slightly special about this place. The sashimi was pretty bad, tasted like it had just been defrosted, but the steak bits were pretty decent so I will call that a wash. In the end I wouldn't go back unless someone really wanted to go.
Christie Brown
Good quality, fair service. My only complaint is that there isn't much variety. Sure, they have all those extra things that I don't understand finding on a sushi menu, like sweet and sour chicken, Korean bbq, etc., but for nigiri and maki and rolls, it's more limited than other places. Still, I go because they do a very good job of those items.
Krystie A
It's hit and miss here. The food is generally decent but sometimes stale, or cold when it's supposed to be hot. The servers are not friendly and the time it takes the food to come out is sometimes long. Also, every time we go there are several plates that don't come.
Tmshannaford
Different. Food and experience was very good. Staff were helpful and good. Service was exceptional

Not All You Can Eat. It is a buffet, but it isn't all you can eat. Luckily we were full when we ordered our dessert and 1st refills, because it cut us off. And we don't eat as much a a lot of people we've known...They limit their customer count by having them order off of Ipads. A lot of people aren't comfortable or even know how to use them - generally regardless of age. I guess regular menus are often not very clean, but our Ipad had stuff caked on it and was very unsanitary.<br/>If you want to pay $30 for a sushi buffet, choose one of the other 25+ there in London (either at par or better tasting) where they have all you can eat. It's definitely not worth the money here.
Candacemoyer
Average. I've been there a few times and every time it seems the selection gets less and less. the service is hit and miss, they take plates away quick but are slow to bring requested items. any food served in a sauce has way to much sauce and you can tell everything is frozen nothing is fresh. not really worth 28 dollars before tip.
Carissa
The service was superb. I went in thinking this place is either too raved on about or not enough due to the reviews but as I experience it myself the service and food are great and worth what you are paying! The food tasted really fresh and warm and just right. The Ipad ordering is unique as well. Definitely would go back:)
Sesabourin
Don't waste your time. The ipads are neat to order with. But the sushi isn't good. The warm did congress our way too quickly to be freshly made. The sushi rolls are made way too big. Mediocre at best.
Adampnewsome
Great way to try new things. I am someone who had never tried ANY sushi or any variety of seafood at all before 168 Sushi. I went there expecting to eat some of their other items like onion rings, chicken, beef, etc. Ended up trying shrimp, snapper, many different kinds of sushi rolls, and LOVING it. <br/><br/>Good atmosphere, unique ordering style, fast service, and great tasting food. Would recommend to people new to sushi and similar types of food.
Thousandmilesaway
Love it. PROS<br/>- Super fast<br/>- Huge Variety<br/>- Easy to order and see what you are ordering<br/>- Great tasting food<br/>- Fresh<br/>- Attentive service<br/><br/>CONS<br/>- Kind of loud<br/>- Untraditional as far as Japanese cuisine <br/>- Don't take debit
Gilbert Yeung
Good food, Good service, BAD music.. Food was good. Above average for all you can eat Japanese place. Service was fast, polite and excellent.<br/><br/>Music, however, was bad and too loud. We had to talk loud short of shouting in order to hold a conversation. The type of music was annoying too. Heavy beat disco type of music. Felt like the place was for young people. I am 44 and may be I am too old for that.
Alex
Great food and service!. First off, the restaurant looks great and has a very nice atmosphere. We went for lunch and it was very busy. The ordering off the iPad is a great concept because you get to see a picture of what you're getting. The food itself was excellent, we ordered a mix of things including sushi, hand rolls, noodles and more. The service was excellent and friendly. Definitely one of the better sushi places we've been to.
Emma Mad
Delicious and good service. Give it a whirl

If you like Sushi- Don't Go. If you truly like sushi and aren't just in it for the tempura rolls then do not go. <br/><br/>The sushi is awful, the fish is cut so think you need about 5 pieces to get a solid piece of fish, and additionally, the hand rolls are just awful.<br/><br/>This is not a place for true sushi lovers. <br/><br/>I would recommend this place to people who like crispy spicy rolls, cucumber rolls, and maybe just tempura. That's about it...
Commerce
Food is just ok, service is poor. We just returned home from lunch at 168 Sushi... today is a holiday, so apparently the lunch price increases, although it isn't documented anywhere. It says there's a price increase for dinner, but not lunch.<br/><br/>Soft drinks are also charged, although the ipad order software says it's free. This doesn't sit well with me... I would have still ordered a drink if they told me it was a dollar, but charging me after saying it's free annoys me.<br/><br/>The food itself was just OK. I really the crab (polluk), but theirs is very watery, almost like they didn't drain it before making the dishes, which makes it not very nice. The rolls are the same way... I didn't love them! Their crispy-spicy rolls haven't got any spicy on them, and are so dry to eat that you need a bucket of something to dip or drink with them to make them palatable. Most everything else was overly sweet.<br/><br/>I ordered The General Tso's chicken (which is supposed to be spicy), but it was just sickeningly sweet... there was no spice to it whatsoever.<br/><br/>The service was something else... it was busy, granted, but wow... we ordered our drinks, and our server placed our order, and we never saw her again. The section chief was the only one serving our table, although she was serving the table to the left (with the Japanese couple), and the table to the right (with the 2 children), she completely ignored us.<br/><br/>The kitchen lost part of our order, even though it was electronically transmitted, somehow we had to ask for the order to be completed, and waited over 20 minutes without any food on the table for them to get it.<br/><br/>We finally got to desert, and ordered ice-cream and fried bananas... we got the ice cream, and it was mostly melted by the time that bananas came, almost 15 minutes later, and after asking for them twice.<br/><br/>The worst part of the whole process was at the checkout, I was asked how it was, and I was polite but honest with the issues. I told her that the section chief was good, but everyone else dropped the ball. I explained about the missing and late dishes, and she blamed me for not ordering correctly... what's up with that.. the order is checked by the wait staff before transmitting it, so if there's a problem, they should have told me... but the cashier says it's my fault.<br/><br/>The cashier argued with me that it was the one guy who did help us that was at fault for the delays, and lack of service during the meal. I explained with diminishing patience that it wasn't, and perhaps she should listen to the customer... she said that I didn't know what I was talking about.<br/><br/>I finally asked for my receipt and just left since what I had to say was falling on deaf ears. We won't be returning any time soon!
Wpggr
So-so. Let's cut to the chase, here's what I liked about it:<br/>1) fast service! Exceptionally fast!<br/>2) rolls don't have much rice, unlike other AYCE places.<br/>3) tempura shrimp's really good!<br/>4) sashimi is okay - fresh on the day that we went<br/>5) Not too expensive!<br/><br/><br/>Here's what I didn't like:<br/>1) I wouldn't recommend any of the rolls with deep friend items (such as shrimp or tempura). It comes cold and is just nasty!<br/>2) I think they overused their panko ... in some rolls there's so much of it that it's like eating sawdust.<br/>3) tempura items (other than shrimp) were a bit too greasy.
Ethan
Horrible Service ,so so Sushi. This is a relative new sushi place in London and the service stinks,<br/>The staff have absolutely no idea what proper customer service is ,<br/>I waited 30 minutes for my first entree to arrive , on a Sunday evening and the pace was half filled ,the staff's response ,"its almost ready"<br/>The food is OK , nothing exceptional, there are far better Sushi places on Hyde Park ,just two minutes away, come to think about it you are better off driving up Oxford to the Superstore and buying sushi there ,it probably taste the same.
Ashley_smith
Terrible food and not clean. My spouse and I went here today and it was DISGUSTING. The sushi rolls were terrible. My husband was sick at the thought of having to finish the rolls with fish in them --- he had to pull out the fish portion because it was all mushy and gross. The rolls are terribly made and fall apart as soon as you pick them up with the chopsticks. <br/>Also, the idea of sharing an ipad with other diners that does not get wiped clean is very unsanitary. In addition, whenever you order a refill they insist on reusing your dirty glass...so I can only imagine how dirty the pop refill station is with the dirty cups and straws touching the machine....very Waiters also pick up dirty cups by putting their hands in the dirty glass....come on that is not sanitary....<br/>We could not wait to leave this place....it leaves a lot to be desired, and above noted comments about having no clean napkins provided is true!
Anne
Best All-You-Can-Eat experience. When looking for an AYCE sushi place in London, I'd recommend 168... the service is pretty good compared to other options in London, and the sushi is very fresh! The atmosphere with the iPads and the dancefloor can be a bit much, compared to the authentic experience at competitors, but at the end of the day it's worth the trade off for better sushi!
Biggz McGee
Jersey shore sushi spot. I felt like I was eating sushi at midnight on a friday on the barking frog dance floor. We were seated beside the partition for the server station and those servers like to create their favourite Lebron slams with the dirty plates. A plate thrown into a bin with Tom Brady velocity every 14 seconds 8 feet away makes for an awful meal and I'm not going back. I hope they go the way of the dodo bird.

Great variety of food. Tastes really good. I love the iPad. I love the grilled eggplant. Good service and great sushi

Brutal service, food just ok. Food was ok, service was to the point where the staff wasn't just inattentive, but rude. <br/><br/>AYCE does not mean service can fall by the wayside. The mandarin is a perfect example of this, and 168 should take note.<br/><br/>My party and I sat at the front door for about 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. The host was a nice guy, but he was the only one who said a word to us.<br/><br/>The ipad ordering system is clearly the best part about 168. Unfortunately, because of this convenience for the customer, the staff I guess assumes they can be lazy with service. Our waitress sounded like it was actually painful for her to serve us. Didn't deserve 10% tip I gave.<br/><br/>Again, food was ok. Menu is comparable to Wonder Sushi, but Wonder rivals 168 in service and quality of food.<br/><br/>We were seated near a dish station that frequently caused great noise and disturbance to the patrons as the servers just crashed the dirty dishes into the sink, often throwing them down so hard that they crashed to the floor. During my 45min visit, that happened probably 10 times....very odd. <br/><br/>All in all, I think it is safe to say that I won't be visiting 168 again. The staff at many sushi places in London seem to be under the impression that the food (even in its mediocrity) makes up for the utterly brutal service that they provide their patrons. It would be wise for them to eradicate this, especially considering that my comment is not the only negative one of urbanspoon for 168.
Foody Cat
The iPad ordering is very fantasy. I went there twice. First time I went there, 168 sushi was opened only a few days,we ordered food is iPads, the iPads run well at that time. But the sushi were pretty bad, those sushi were so loss, they fell apart when i were trying to pick it up. And I found that the food show on the Menu were look good way more than there were severed. And the dishes tasted bad. Second time I went there, I found that the iPad systems are running so slow and there were system problems. For example, the system was down, and we need to reorder what we want, and it happened twice during my dinner which pissed me off so much. And all the waiter were so busy, they response our call so slow. Overall, it was not a good experience and I am so disappointed.

Been there twice, not impressed both times. The experience is different with their ordering system, but other than that the food is so so. Our food arrived within minutes after ordering that leave us wondering if the food has been prepared ahead of time and sitting around for the waiters to serve them. The hot (temperature) foods were just warm, sushi & sashimi not so great. Can't really pinpoint one think we really don't like about the food, it's just a lot of little things we don't like about the restaurant. Oh, though its a still new restaurant, it not so clean.

Loved it and was a new experience ordering even tho it was an all u can eat. Will be going back this wk

BEST SUSHI EVER. My family recently went to 168 Asian Buffet.<br/>Absolutely loved it, it's the best sushi ever other than Nobu in San Diego. 168 sushi is the coolest place ever, it's like a scene out of a video game.<br/>Cool lights, Awesome cups... It was just overall awesome. I've always thought it'd be sick if you could order off an ipad and they just bring it to you, here it actually happens:)! It was so cool, I deffinetly recomend brining your kids, they'd love it (be sure to mention you order on an ipad). Even if they wont like real authentic sushi, there's a huge range on the menu from pizza, to chicken, to fresh fish in great sushi. I also had rose tea. Amaizing you'll love it, it has a real rose in it!!!! For all my reasons I deffinetly reccomend going there. Everything's good.

The service is excellent and the iPad ordering system is neat; however, the food is mediocre at best which is a shame. Expensive AYCE. There's better options out there. Would not return.

AWFUL SERVICE. I was making plans with 8 friends to go to AYCE sushi. I had never tried 168 so I thought I would try to give it a chance but I quickly changed my mind. I called in advance to make a reservation for 8 people considering that it is quite difficult to walk in and find seating for a large group without a reservation. <br/><br/>Once I called, the receptionist quickly told me (quite rudely) that reservations were not possible as it was the weekend. I politely asked that if we were to arrive at 7:30, approximately how long would it take to make seating for 8 people. The receptionist rudely replied that the wait would be at least an hour. She then suggested that they have many customers and if I did not like this system, I should not come. I informed the receptionist that I would indeed be taking my business elsewhere and that it is unwise to upset customers because if her attitude continues, the busy restaurant will soon find itself quite empty. <br/><br/>I had never been spoken to so rudely in my life. If the quality of sushi matches the personality of the receptionist, I’m certain every patron would leave with food poisoning.

Great place! Service is very fast even when it is busy. Sushi is fresh, and there is great variety in the lunch and dinner menu. Worth checking out!

Great service with a smile! Slammed with long weekend traffic and there wasn't a bad mood in sight. Greeter was honest which we appreciated. Food came hot and fast considering it was busy from the start. We'd come here again.

"Amazing food, terrible service" <br/>1. Walked in about 4 people walked past us and there was no host we had to flag her down to be seated <br/>2. She wasn't polite , she just gave us our iPad and walked away <br/>3. We did not receive everything we ordered <br/>4. The food kept coming but no plates were being taken and a waitress nearly pushed our plates off the table multiple times we had to stack them in a corner before someone grabbed them. <br/>5. NO DEBIT only credit ! ...<br/>6. Did not hear a, thank you , come again, I hope your enjoying your food, is everything okay, or would you like more then one napkin for 4 people.<br/><br/>On the other hand <br/>1. The food was amazing ( but the sushi was jus blah) the noodles and everything else including dessert was great <br/>2. It was absolutely fresh<br/>3 . iPad ordering system was easy<br/>And had pictures so you know what your eating <br/>4. Great price <br/>This was my first time here , I love sushi and and have been to a few places in London this would be one of my favourites if the service was better there was absolutely NO communication at all. The food was good so I'd go back but not for the atmosphere. <br/>If you haven't been here I'd give it a try because the food it worth the price * try the banana dessert !!!

Worst sushi in London. Do NOT go here. Absolutely horrible service and food. Food is bland, fish tastes EXTREMELY fishy, and this includes their mackerel, salmon, eel etc. They couldn't even get the rice right! (rice falls apart whenever you pick up the sushi and is also warm). <br/><br/>When the server finally came around and asked if everything was okay and I told her it wasn't, she simply nodded and walked away.<br/><br/>After telling the manager I was unable to eat any more of the sushi, all he did was tell me that the food was fresh and continued to hide from me and avoid making eye contact. <br/><br/>I wouldn't go here again even if they paid me to eat their food. If you want good sushi, go to a smaller place where they actually care about your dishes and you're not just some numbered customer.

This was the best sushi I ever had. They were fast and friendly in trying to sit my large group without a reservation and the sushi was incredible. I have never had such large amount of fish in my rolls and the shashimi tasted so fresh! When the shashimi came it was organized into a heart shape. They use iPads to place orders and the sushi comes quick. Servers were really nice and we did not feel rushed.<br/>A little pricey but definitely worth it.

Awful service, awful food. There are so many better options in the area, don't waste your money.
Scarlett
Poor service, poor food. Extremely impersonal service. <br/>Overpriced for the quality served.<br/>Not going back.

Its ok..... I pad thing was cool:) but food was nothing to write home about... good priced for what it is though:')

The 25 min wait for a seat flew by thanks to the wonderful bartender. Once we were seated the food came at a very slow pace. Waitress was friendly and the food was your average AYCE faire. They were out of many things at the bar and were also out of strawberry mousse cake.

.......needs improvement. Was in for dinner, foods came pretty fast the first around but after that we have to wait for almost 45 mins for the second round to come. Service was ok, not too bad for “SERVER NOT GETTING THEIR TIPS”. Sushi Rolls are ok for an AYCE and those don’t know about Sushi but hot dishes need a lot of improvement, steaks are too tough, chickens are too dry, too much mayo on the foods, Grilled Scallop is very POOR....for a restaurant with a 7th franchises this one is poor.

Mediocre at best. Although there are several food options, the quality is just not there. Service was okay, iPad menu is novel but the food was unimpressive and the area surrounding the restaurant was filthy. If this is what the public can see what does that kitchen look like? What turned me off the most - pork was served RAW to us in two dishes. There are several better all-you-can-eat restaurants to choose from. Will not be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend.

Great food. Lots on the all you can eat menu...which you order from on an iPad with descriptions and pictures. Highly recommend. Very busy so make a reservation!

My husband and I have been coming here once a week since this place opened. We are both sushi junkies. I have to comment on our experience here. The decor of the place and the ordering system via I-pads is very unique. It's very helpful with pictures of all the items on the menu. The service we have received has been very helpful and the servers we have been with, have all been very helpful and friendly. A welcoming change to the atmosphere you get at Wonder Sushi, where the wait staff is very unfriendly, and most in-helpful. The sushi and the sashimi has always in our experience been A+++. Everything is very fresh and the presentation of the food is tops. We both love the different sashimi choices available on the ALCE menu, and it is very fresh and delicious. They have a lot of choices of different foods to try as well. The place was very clean, un-like some other AYCE places. The food came quick, and was hot. We also have had no issues with ordered food not coming out. They also have many different kinds of rolls which so far have been delightful. The location is excellent, probably why it is so busy. We would recommend this place to anyone. And have done so. To us, it's the best Sushi place in London by far.

The jury is still out. My husband and I went to 168 Sushi Asian Buffet in London for the first time this evening. The first thing I noticed was the rear entrance (staff/kitchen). It was deplorable. There was so much garbage and discarded food strewn everywhere, it was disgusting. At first glance, I wanted to turn around and get in my car but we thought we would try it out. We really didn't have to wait long but once again, I noticed paper and various debris all over the floor as we were being seated. It was scattered everywhere - dirty napkins, chopsticks, food etc. We were close to the rear of the restaurant and then again, there were stacks upon stacks of dirty dishes on carts. To me, this is not what you should be portraying, especially when you have just recently opened. The food is good but there are definitely some kinks to work out with the ordering process, we waited quite some time in between food items and some were forgotten all together and once we raised it with the staff, the same thing came three times, the last time when I was paying the bill. The service definitely needs improvement and it doesn't help your cause when you have a staff person telling you it is just too busy and too many people.....hmmm...I'm thinking that would be a good thing for the restaurant business but then....who am I? Hopefully it works out for them but if they continue with the way they are going now, their success will be short-lived. We will just go back to Wonder Sushi.

Poor Service and Poor Quality. My friends and I (5 of us) decided to try this restaurant a few days ago for dinner because we love sushi and found out about the iPad ordering service and thought it was interesting. When we first arrived, we were quite impressed with the decor and the setting. <br/>However things went downhill from there. For ease of reading I will list them out:<br/>1. When the server was putting in the order, he felt we were ordering too much and insisted we order less. We've been to all-you-can-eat sushi buffets all the time and we know how much we can eat and we wouldn't order more and waste food. The server was saying how everything will come at once and it will be unfresh by the time we eat it. We didn't want to keep putting in multiple orders and having to wait for food to come, so he reluctantly put in our order.<br/>2. They were extremely slow. We waited for over one hour and our food from the first (and only) order still hasn't come. The food would come in 20 minute intervals and by the time we finished eating one plate we would have to wait a long time for the next dish to come. <br/>3. We ordered 4 salmon salads, but only 1 bowl came. We told the server that we were still missing some and when they brought the other 3, we noticed that they were in smaller bowls than the first. We realized that they had put all 4 orders in that same first bowl.<br/>4. One of the waitresses angrily grabbed an empty plate from us when we tried to pass it to her since it was out of her reach. Another time, she was taking a plate as I was still trying to take the last piece of it.<br/>5. The rolls that were got didn't seem very fresh and well made. It kept falling apart when we picked it up. As well the chicken teriyaki was borderline warm and tasted more like salmon than chicken.<br/>6. There were hairs in one of our rolls.<br/>7. They put all our ice cream orders into the same bowl, and provided us empty bowls for us to separate them ourselves.<br/><br/>In conclusion, my experience here was terrible and I will never step into this restaurant ever again. The iPad gimmick was able to attract me and my friends to this restaurant once, but that will only be it. We have been to other ayce places (Wonder Sushi, Blu Rice, Green Tea, Hanata) and this was one of our worst experiences.

Not impressed with the food or service. We went to 168sushi at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. It was VERY busy. We waited approx. 25 minutes for a table. I remarked to my husband that at least we wouldn't have to worry about the food being fresh and hot. <br/>When we were seated the waitress explained how to use the ipad ordering system. I asked her about ordering from the dinner menu instead of lunch and I was informed that the dinner menu starts at 4. I pointed out to her that the take out menu, which shows the AYCE prices as well, states that the dinner menu is available all day. She replied with "oh, you just have to tell us if you want to order from the dinner menu so we can change it on the (ipad) menu. Really? Why not just tell me that the first time I asked about it?<br/>My assumption that our food would be hot because of how busy it was, was wrong. The curry chicken was cold, the tempura vegetables were cold (cold tempura is a unpleasant experience) as were a few other "hot" items we ordered. <br/>The wait times for some of our food was exceptionally long. I suspect some of the items were delivered to someone elses table. <br/>The most perplexing thing though was that part way through our meal our server disappeared, never to be seen again. The entire row of customers had dirty dishes piling up on their tables, drinks left unfilled, ipads with orders waiting to be sent, and guests who had been seated by the hostess, and then never served by a waitress. <br/>Eventually the manager came and started bussing our tables. He got someone from the kitchen to assist him. The two of them remained our servers for the duration of our meal. <br/>For us, once we got past the novelty of using the ipad to order, we realized that the food here was average at best. The disappearing waitress was very unfortunate because it caused a number of customers to become frustrated and there was no apology offered to anyone for the lengthy wait for their food and drinks. <br/>Oh, one other thing. Please be advised that 168sushi does not take debit. There is no obvious indication of this when you enter the restaurant. But, they'll happily point you to the ATM machine that charges $1.75 for you to use it. <br/>Unfortunately we will not be returning to, or recommending 168sushi.

Lots of show, but customer service was lacking. All the food was well prepared, and the i-pad interface was both easy to use and helpful when it came to visualizing what you would be receiving. But like I said, the service was lacking. Servers were reliant on i-pads, and became noticibly irritated if you asked any questions regarding the food. They also don't accept debit, which I found quite strange, since they do take credit. All the flashy interface is nice, but it doesn't make up for lack of fundamental service

Went last night with my boyfriend. I liked the decor, updated and clean. We were sat quickly (especially for New Year's Day). I loved the iPad ordering. I loved being able to SEE what I was getting. There were little explanations of each item as well. Food came out extremely fast, piping hot. We ordered a lot of sashimi and my boyfriend loved it. They were good sized pieces. My only complaint would be they don't accept debit, and the rolls looked kind of sloppy. It looked like I had rolled them myself. But they were tasty none the less. Will definitely be back!

Yum. Very nice addition to Londons Asian Buffets, the food is great with a vast menu which I personally liked. The service is ok but by far hope that your server is Simon, the very best waiters you can find in Sushi places. Unfortunatly the drawback was that sometimes the Sushi's rice is warm which isnt the greatest taste on a empty stomach. I personally enjoyed the WOK, the Korean Spicy Fried Tofu and of coarse Salmon Sushi, my personal favourite. The iPads where a neat thing to add but my last visit they all apperently crashed so we had to physically tell the servers what we wanted to order. <br/><br/>I hope you all enjoy the Londons newest Sushi addition.

Great food, incredible system, fast delivery, super cheap. The first time I walked into 168 Sushi, I was impressed. The decor is by far the best, hands down, out of any AYCE (all-you-can-eat) sushi place in London. It's sleek and modern but, unfortunately, it's not built for medium-sized groups. I came with 4 other people and they had troubling seating us (they're extremely busy). It was either cram into a booth or wait even longer (we had waited over 20 minutes at that point). If it were 2-4 of us, it would have been perfect, so be ready to wait if you have more than 4 people if it's quite busy. That aside, everything is beautiful in the place.<br/><br/>The food is great, too, and the menu is extremely extensive. It contains Korean and Thai food, for example, and a variety of other foods. While the sushi is not comparable to the better a la carte places, the salmon nigiri was the best I've had at an AYCE sushi place. The grilled chicken dishes (e.g., chicken teriyaki) tend to be hit or miss when we ordered but the tempura was done quite well as well as the kalbi. <br/><br/>What really makes this place shine is the system. It's all done on an iPad. You see a picture of what everything looks like plus you see how many you've ordered and what you've ordered. This beats out the laminated menu at Conception or the outdated pen and paper system at places like Hanata. It just makes for a much more pleasant, immersive experience. Once you've ordered, a server comes over, does some stuff on it and your order is in.<br/><br/>Because the system seems to be so efficient at 168, the food delivery is incredibly fast. I've never experienced such speed. Usually my group orders everything we want at once and that was a mistake here. All the food came out in 10-15 minutes and it was all piping hot. Since we were in a small booth already, we hardly had any space at all. If you're like me (and my group) then order as you go along as opposed to all at once. <br/><br/>One last thing: price. Lunch here was just under $14 before taxes. You can rarely go out to lunch anywhere, let alone AYCE sushi, and get food for that cheap. <br/><br/>In the end, 168 Sushi is the best AYCE sushi place in the city. I've been to them all and none of them really compare. The a la carte places produce the best sushi but this place provides great food, fast service, fantastic experience, and competitive pricing. Just give it a go and you won't regret it.

Great food!. Went here a few days ago and I really liked it! Food was timely, delicious, and the iPad was a cool feature too. Would definitely come back. This place tends to get busy though but the wait, if there is a wait, shouldn't be too long. Making a reservation never hurts.
