Review The Bag Lady - London

Claudia Yeung (yeungmama)
Took the husband here for an early breakfast date so there is no wait - do come early if you don’t like to wait for a table like myself. After much consideration, I picked the most photogenic item on the menu and had no regrets - it’s so beautiful AND at the same time delicious. It takes time to prepare but it is well worth the wait. There is so much to see around the store each piece can be a conversation starter. Great for a date with a girlfriend or your partner. You won’t regret coming for a visit, go go go!

This place is perfect for a delightful brunch! The food here is absolutely amazing, and the service is top-notch. They even offer daily specials for soups and sandwiches. I personally enjoyed the curried cauliflower soup paired with the Montreal smoked meat and havarti cheese sandwich, and it was absolutely fantastic. The cozy vintage atmosphere adds to the charm, and I can't wait to return for more!

Great place for chill & cozy morning. Vintage decorations all over the restaurant. Food is good, nice coffee, recommend the Bag Daddy’s Big Stack.

Was lucky to be invited to this hidden gem for my birthday. Was tasty and fun. The staff was very enthusiastic and passionate about the food they serve. Very lovely attention to detail. Everything was fresh and beautiful and tasty x10.

We drove from Toronto to here. A bit of wait because we came on a weekend, but the food was worth the wait. The place, food and service is AMAZING! It’s 10/10. Their coffee La chica’s is so good! Poutine is amazing! Their sweets, lemon square and chocolate square was recommended by them, a perfect way to end your meal. Their employees are awesome specially Jessica!

London does not spoil me with a variety of cozy and cool places, I experience a certain lack of visiting quality places that leave a "wow" impression. And here at last I found such a cafe! Every millimeter of the walls is imbued with coziness, the atmosphere is family friendly and the energy hovering in this space is very soft, and the staff is warm-hearted. I literally had an orgasm from the aesthetics, the amount of details, the presentation and taste of the dishes! Everything is top notch, tasteful, detailed, just the way I like it. As an aesthete with a capital letter😂 and a finely sensitive person - it is very important to me that the space in which I am (and especially eating) to dispose to receive positive emotions and was filling. As a person with high demands for pleasure I declare that I was satisfied with a million percent and recommend everyone to visit this place.

One of my favorite brunch spots here in London! Staff is really nice and personable especially Angelie. Plus, food is consistently delicious.

Fantastic food and a fun atmosphere. We had the Bag Lady poutine, the turkey sandwich (with salad), and Italian sandwich (with Homefries). Everything was seasoned and/or sauced perfectly.... Food was fresh and clearly homemade there. Also, we bought some cool postcards and a journal that were made by a local artist. Staff was friendly and service was great. Apparently there is an Airbnb suite in the attic as well. We will potentially stay there next time we come to town.

Great little place with a lot of character and great food. It’s a great breakfast place or small meal one. The staff is also very friendly which makes the experience better. Next time I’m in there I’ll take more pics

Went for breakfast at this cute little retro restaurant. I had the Mojo which was 2 pieces of sourdough French toast with crunchy peanut butter and bananas in between and fresh fruit on top. It was incredible! This is a tiny little place that is super cozy with so much to look at. The service was fantastic. Don't go here for a quick breakfast as it's a small kitchen and it's best to take your time and enjoy your company and surroundings.

So scrumptious!!! The ciabatta bun is top tier. Egg is fluffy! Star of show was poutine. Their house fries have sweet potato and regular potato. We did have to wait around 40 min for our food after ordering though! Cute spot with yums and quirky maximalist 1970s decor!

Very cute spot. What they have on the menu is delicious and portion is good. Only gave a 4 star and not 5 because I’d like to see more options (Turkey bacon, eggs Benny)

Very cute and cozy place. The food was delicious. We had a great time.

This is definitely my favourite breakfast place in London. I often have enough to have leftovers for lunch or dinner. Fun retro atmosphere, excellent service and perfect for a meal with friends.

Food is excellent but the decor is awesome. The absolute best place to go on a first date. Even if there is no spark, you can explore the eclectic sugar containers, kitschy 70s kitchen crap.

In loyalty, you can't go wrong with everything you order. The coffee is great, the good is good and the Bag Lady is known to be a good catering service.

Great little location for breakfast and lunch. Friendly staff and delicious food. Make sure you have lots of time, all food is made to order so takes a little time

Very peculiar restaurant, setting is very cute and retro. The food can be very very good because of the quality ingredients and of course the chef. Portion is appropriate and price is very fair.

This is my absolute favorite breakfast place. Sometimes busy, sometimes a little slow on service but can't be blamed when there's such a high volume of people. Food is amazing and the place is adorable!

This is a really cute place. It's almost too cute. Like you-might-get-attacked-by-a-frilly-apron cute. It's a little crowded during peak hours but it's a great little spot to grab brunch or enjoy a hot drink and a baked treat. BTW the cinnamon rolls are to die for! If you're staying to eat it they'll warm it up and top it with something special. Today I got a dusting of powdered sugar and a raspberry on top! Personally I find their mainstays a little too expensive for the quantity that you're getting. Like a average sized panini is $10, I just can't justify the price for what I'm eating. But don't get me wrong! The food is great and the staff are even greater and that's what counts right?

I love this restaurant but I would never go back on a weekend. The food is good, slightly over priced, but always consistent. The service was extremely slow on a Sunday and we waited almost 2 hours to be served and eat.
Mitch
Very neat concept executed to perfection! The retro feel of the restaurant combined with its layout and friendly staff are further complimented by the unique breakfast creations coming out of the kitchen. As a big fan of breakfast foods like French Toast, The Bag Lady really kicks it up a notch with their interpretations of classic items. Well done!

Catering. We had an AMAZING lunch today brought to us by the Bag Lady. They were extremely accomodating and made a delicious lunch for us. We are all still very full and stil raving about how great it was. I can't wait to see what they can come up with next time for us. Great work!

AMAZING PLACE. I have been there many times and each time is better than the last! The atmosphere is something you can't get anywhere else.. the food is delicious, the staff is always so friendly! I always recommend this place to all of my friends. The Bag Lady is a small and relaxing place but they do get quite busy on the weekends, however the staff definitely deals with it well and the turn over rate is pretty quick so you aren't left waiting for their yummy food too long.
FAV PLACE IN LONDON

A delightful experience. This place had a really cool atmosphere, it was a quite comfortable setting. Also, the bag daddy big stack breakfast literally changed my life. Left the place feeling amazing.

Good eats. While in London to visit a family member that had surgury at University Hospital, my husband and I came across this cute & cosy place. The food was fabulous and the price was great- definately like some diners here in the US...small price & big portions!. Staff were friendly, service was a bit slow, but we still liked this little place. Will be back next time we are in Ontario!

Keep up the good work Bag Lady!
Sarah

Awesome!. The atmosphere was amazing, as well as the food. I've never had my over-easy eggs fully cooked until I went here. Great experience! Definitely coming back again.
Brittany
Delicious food, decent service and super hot staff in a cute lul restaurant.

Amazing!!. Amazing fresh sandwiches! Even cute aprons for sale :)

Love the mismatched plates and clutter all over the walls :)

Packed to the walls! Every table was full. Adorable breakfast and lunch spot :)

Good food, cool atmosphere. I went to The Bag Lady for lunch and it was great. Simple, good food with a funky atmosphere of 50s and 60s memorabilia. Had one of the daily specials, a tomato and basil pesto soup with a pan fried ham & swiss sandwich. Pretty cheap, came to about $10. Saw a 2 egg, 2 bacon, 2 toast special for $5 on the board (before 11am), good deal.

I would recommend to check out if you are in the area, looking for a cheap and good bite to eat.

Best sandwich spot in town.. Great little lunch spot in a residential area downtown with a funky retro interior. The feature soup and salad are the best bang for your buck, but you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. The place is very tiny, and gets super crowded at lunch time, so I usually get mine to go. The service has been excellent as well!

Adorable, little spot tucked away in a residential area. The menu is small but very satisfying. The food is great and the prices are what you'd expect from a place like this. It attracts a variety of clientele and the place is always busy. My only complaint is how tiny it is, it can get crammed easily. Would recommend!

Fun & Great Food.. Great atmosphere, very colourful and energizing. The coffee is mediocre - I've had better. But the food really is something to rave about. I got the cinnamon French toast with fresh fruit and it was to die for. I feel the food is slightly over-priced for what you're getting but you're paying more so for the experience. Will visit again but not often because of prices. 1 more complaint - the server was a bit jittery and rushed; he approached customers before they even had a chance to sit down and take off their coats. Chill out, bud! He did not ask us if we wanted coffee refills - another girl did, but by then we were done our meal anyway. Overall great, though.

A Unique and Enjoyable Experience. I don't often have time to go out for a meal, so I have taken to dropping in for coffee (fair trade) and cookies ( the best I've had - sorry Mom) and a sandwich (like the Caprese: tomato mozzarella and fresh basil leaves on a wonderful bun). The prices are indicative of a small business which is not mass producing their product, and uses fresh top quality ingredients. The service is personable and sincere. The decor is unique and there are local wares for sale. The atmosphere makes you want to move to the neighbourhood just so you can become a regular.

Quaint. Homey. Warm. Very tasty! Only a problem if you are in a mobile chair or a person of size. This place is TINY and crowded. I Loved it!!!!

Awesome Breakfast!. I went for the first time this past Sunday and it was awesome.
My hubby and I had "The Mojo" which is french toast stuffed
with bananas and crunchy peanut butter. It was so yummy!
My friend had the breakfast burrito and really enjoyed it.
Will be back for sure.

This place has character, I approve.. This is one of the few places in London that has character. The place is pretty cramped, but the food was enjoyable, the service was good, and the place has a great atmosphere.

2012-03-09 - first time there, definitely will go back. Food was great, service great, went for breakfast and got full quickly around noon. Decorated with old toys, books, games - so many things reminded me of a grandma's house including tables, chairs, ornaments. Great atmosphere. Burrito was very good, bacon good size, cooked well unlike Cora's. Fresh croissant was great. If I had to criticize, not enough salsa for burrito but tasted very good, could tell was homemade; eggs were overeasy but very greasy; and home fries were spiced a bit too much but good mix of regular and sweet potatoes. Have yet to try cookies, brownie, and lemon square but bought all to try. Go there, not large menu but could tell everything was made there or brought in local. You'll like it!!

Winter Hours in Effect. Currently opening an hour later than usual on Saturday and Sunday, not til 10:00am, while winter weekend hours are in effect.

What a great little neighborhood gem. This small restaurant / variety store offers a great (but small) menu featuring great breakfasts and lunches. My Rolo special had eggs, bacon, home fries and a warm croissant. Everything was tasty! The atmosphere is friendly with a definite 50s look and feel. Really recommend a stop!

Fun and yum. It just makes you happy being in a room with all those ceramic poodles. And the food is great too.

Its in the Bag!. My first impression was cute eclectic a little whacky kinda like me lol, what a little gem for sure. Great Atmosphere Lunch was great treats looked really good a real good cuppa tea and cant wait to return to try breakfast. Not a big place but certainly big on personality lots to look at. Visited for the first time today. Love the decor. Reminded my sis and I of some things from our childhood. Food was delicious, coffee was awesome and the people are friendly. We will return :-)

SO AMAZING. This place is one of a kind. I have been there a few times with friends and the atmosphere is just incredible. Better yet, the food is DELICIOUS....

Yum, yum and yum!! Everything is good! Homemade soup! Amazing sandwiches: grilled, melty, wonderful. What a find! Nice, comfy, neighbourhood joint. Great desserts too. Limited menu and shorter hours weekends.
I Love Food
Yummy & Great Atmosphere. I am so glad we picked this place instead of going to Denny's this morning. We were going to try Denny's until Urban Spoon helped us find this place. The Mojo french toast was awesome and the fair trade coffee was very good. DH had the Rolo and he liked his meal as well. Great eclectic spot and seems to be a neighborhood fave. Will return Bag Lady!
Rebecca
Awesome! I'll be coming here often. What a gem!

Great little place. I found this interesting little place with my urbanspoon app on my phone while looking for a new place for brunch. Food is great, service is friendly and prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Yummy breakfast and desserts!. Found out about this place while surfing for info about Car Free weekend. What a hidden gem! Sat on the patio (they had 4 tables outside). I had the frittata and salad, which was yummy and DH had the Mojo, which I thought was delicious - bananas, honey and crunchy peanut butter sandwiched between two slice of cinnamon French toast. It was so good (will have to order it next time)! We also grabbed some dessert on our way out. The cookie was heaven - still soft and lots of chocolate chips! Only wish I had grabbed a couple of more... Cannot wait to go back - may have to try it for lunch next time.

Cute, neat concept drop in spot. Worth a try!

I Love the BAG LADY!. If you are looking for a fun funky lunch place off the beaten path, try The Bag Lady. Great homemade food and nice service all wrapped up in an eclectic atmosphere. It is like going back in a time warp to your grandma's kitchen and they have the funniest little knick-knacks to keep you entertained. The space is very constrained but that is kind of the charm to the place. It isn't a cookie cutter place with booth seating. Everything I have had to eat there has been fresh and exceptionally prepared. LOVE the cookies. Don't change anything Bag Lady!!
E-Town, It's Me Again!
The Bag Lady had been touted as having the "best brownies in town", so Cat and I decided to taste for ourselves! It's a dense layer of semi-sweet chocolate fudge brownie, with a sort of toffee/caramel layer, and another layer of marbled milk and white chocolate topping! Because of the layers of harder, denser chocolate, it's a little bit of work to take bite-sized portions of the brownie with your fork, but definitely worth the effort ;)

...I felt that The Bag Lady is definitely all about the atmosphere and experience. The food was reasonably priced but nothing much to rave about. I will for sure recommend this as a wow-interesting-cafe place, but not so much as an omg-good-food place.
