Review Michael's On The Thames - London

My husband & I just enjoyed dinner at Gnosh as part of the LondonLicious experience. The food was very good & their wine selection great. The hubby had the Drunken Mussels & Pad Thai & I had the Gnosh Salad & the Paella with Shrimp & Sausage. Everything but the Paella was great! I would suggest some more salt & more flavour for it. We both had their dessert coffee & it was to die for!!! Our server Beau was exceptional! We’ll be back!

We had dinner at Gnosh before the show at the Grand when visiting London for the night. Dinner was really fantastic. The service was spectacular, and the cocktails were bang on flavour. If we were locals this would definitely be one of the places we visited on the regular.

Dining at Gnosh was such an enjoyable experience. The waiter was helpful, friendly and overall very helpful with any questions we had. And the food, there aren't enough words to describe how delicious our meals were. I'm looking forward to coming back again soon!

We had the best experience dining at Gnosh before heading to Budweiser Gardens for a concert. Joe and his staff were so accommodating, getting our meals out quickly to keep us on time with a very full restaurant. They were able to customize meals for the kids and made them feel extra special. The food was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

Really nice restaurant with very flavourful options. The meals were quite rich and creamy and we enjoyed our time at Blu Duby. We ordered the Lobster Mac' and Cheese, and the Escargot for Appetizer. They were both well done and the Mac and Cheese was actually quite good. For our mains we had the Wild Mushroom Risotto w/Lamb and the Duo of Game (Duck and Lamb). The Risotto was a bit tangy but the Lamb was a great balance, just as our waitress recommended. The Duo also included garlic whipped potatoes which was our favourite part of the meal. The price was quite reasonable as everything came up to about $100. Would definitely return if we are ever passing through London. Though the place was busy we did not have any issues with service and everything seem to arrive on time.

We were here for lunch and ordered from the Londonlicious menu. First of all, the service is excellent. The food is presented nicely and the portion is just the perfect amount. We highly recommend trying out this place

Sweet experience. Very competent wait staff. Great tasting food and service beyond excellent. Fast service. Next time I visit I'll definitely return. 22 people and it was super awesome!!!

Absolutely fantastic lunch experience! I had been to Gnosh prior for a work lunch and had such a great experience I went again. This time I went by myself on my lunch break and I must say it was a lovely experience. The gentleman who served me was kind, and very helpful. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, and does come quite quickly depending on how busy the place is. The lunch menu also has alot to choose from, giving lots of variety and accommodating varying dietary restrictions. I highly recommend this place, and cannot wait to try their dinner menu.

We enjoyed london-licious at Gnosh. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. We had the best meal out in a very long time. The service was great, very knowledgeable staff, helpful and friendly. What brought us to Gnosh was all of the gluten-free options. I had a coconut cream pie to die for. Compliments to the chef, the attention to detail and presentation made our evening even more enjoyable. We will be back soon.

Great atmosphere and fun staff. This place was fancy and a great place for a date with your wife or girlfriend (maybe don't bring both!). The downtown location is great and it's attached to the Hotel Metro. We had a great time and would definitely go again.

Came in with my friend for dinner. Overall, love the atmosphere of this place, upscale and beautifully designed, faint jazz music in the background, very classy. Our waiter was wonderful, so respectful and kept checking in for refills. Food is ok. I had the chicken Pad Thai and I wasn’t particularly devouring but the overall experience is what I enjoyed! So thank you🙂

The food was fantastic here! Service was a little slow, but it was Valentine's Day and I found my new love! Bacon wrapped dates

**Update: Came in and ordered the Fish & Chips and was amazed by its presentation, portion and flavour. Unfortunately no craft beers were on offer which was a bit disappointing but there were several commercial brands. The Carrot Cake was also good quality but slightly too sweet. Generally exceptional service and food. The French fries are to die for here. I upgraded this restaurant from 4 to 5 stars on this occassion.** Ordered the French Burger with fries and an Okanogan Green Apple Cider. At $18.00 the burger was definitely underwhelming and unfortunately under seasoned. Neither enough salt nor enough pepper was put into the mix and the meat itself had an oddly pate-ish texture like it had been ground too much or a lack of texture. When you charge top dollar for a burger it should be impeccable and this burger definitely was not primarily due to a lack of flavour. The bun was an in-house made focaccia which is better than what you can expect in some restaurants that charge similar prices. The fries where beautifully crispy, hot and salty which I appreciated. Paired with the Okanogan Green Apple Cider which was surprisingly refreshing on a hot summer day it was almost a perfect meal where it not for the burger patty. The patio was well laid out and comfortable and the service was sincere, polite and attentive. A nice place to sit for a meal by oneself or with a friend or several with many positive points but with room for improvement.

What a great place. I brought my Mom out for dinner for a late Mother's Day dinner/drinks. The man that seated us - I think his name was Beau, super friendly guy and made sure were seated in a special spot after I told him why we were there. Our server was a gentleman named, Ray. He was very accommodating and didn't miss a beat – if my Mom's glass was getting low, he was right there to offer a refill. In fact - all the servers on that night were amazing at checking in on us and when were trying to decide on a dessert a server named Susie suggested an AMAZING choice. To top things off, the owner, Joe, came and made sure everything was satisfactory and chatted with us a bit. Was such a great night/experience. Thank you, Gnosh!!! We will be back!

Had my 21st birthday dinner here with 16 girls... they put us in a little side room so it was really nice and felt private! Everything was amazing, my whole table ordered aperol spritz after mine came because they were so big and yummy, their charcuterie board is the best I have ever ordered at a restaurant, and they brought me a full piece of oreo cheesecake to sing me happy birthday!! Great experience :)

Best table service I’ve experienced in a long time!! Cocktails were superb, lobster mac & cheese could use a little more flavour but the duck pizza was amazing. Overall a great spot to eat for date night or a special occasion!

Dropped in on a Saturday evening with some friends. The atmosphere is great. They had live Jazz music playing during the evening. The Piano was a great addition to the ambience of the restaurant. The placing is perfect. We started off with the “Tableside Caesar Salad”. They do everything to for your personal needs. Great service. I ordered the “Steak Diane” and the “Duckling A L’Orange” which we’re both prepared by tableside. We also ordered the “Bacon Wrapped Chicken Supreme”. Delicious Food and Great Service. I can’t wait to visit again.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here for our 34th Anniversary! Over the past 35 years we have had many fine meals at this restaurant and continue to be impressed by the consistent high quality of food and service.

Food is delicious and portions are generous. The cesaer salad made table side was delicious and the chateaubriand for two was perfectly cooked. Our only complaint was that we didn't have room for desert! It is a bit pricy but well worth it for a special occasion.

Had a wonderful family dinner this evening. As always, excellent food with very attentive service. Some nice additions to the menu as well. Don't let the construction on York St. dissuade you. Very easy to get there via Thames St (from Horton).

Best dining experience in the city. Better with smaller groups but service is always amazing. Get their table side Caesar salad and try a specialty coffee at desert time!

Cute restaurant, interesting location close to downtown but away from the noise. Decor is old but comfortable. Food is pretty good, and the desserts are surprisingly good. I don't usually like the desert at restaurants but this one's impressed me twice with its dessert. Very good service, experienced waitresses.

A trip is never complete without a fine dining experience in the city, and Michael’s on the Thames was selected as our destination to end the trip. Server prepping for the meal at our table side. The restaurant is famous for their “at your table side” dishes such as their Ceasar Salad for two or the Brome Lake Duckling a L’Orange. Because I’m not a fan of orange sauces, I decided to go with the Duckling “Au Poivre” ($32.99) instead. The half duckling was served with a madeira peppercorn sauce, which is a perfect match for game meat. The duck skin was not crispy as described in the menu when arrived. The meat was also drier and more stringy than one would expect, especially when compared to regular pan-fried duck breasts. Although the duck itself was not as good as expected, the twice baked potato that came with the dish was flavorful and moist. Rating: 6/10. With the price this restaurant charges, I expected finer food.

Meh. I had dinner at the Thames. This Saturday Easter weekend. I ordered the candied salmon and was very disappointed with the portion size of the salmon i recieved. The dish was pretty mediocre over all. I have had many meals at this restaurant usually i'm very satisfied with what i recieve.

What happened.

Always great overall.

Excellent as always. My husband and I love this restaurant! First of all the food is consistently top notch! The chateaubriand for two is amazing, but the ceaser salad is awesome, the chicken dishes are very good, shrimp cocktail excellent too. I could go on and on. Portions are plentiful and we always leave satisfied. We think the price is good for the quality of the food and service. You can actually have a conversation at your table unlike so many of the newer restaurants with high ceilings and cold decor. Saturday nights there is live piano to set the mood too.

Diner review. Visited Friday night for dinner for first time in a few years...staff very friendly and attentive particularly Andrew the Captain. Ordered oysters Rockefeller and the caprase salad to start both excellent and for dinner the linguine primavera with saffron cream sauce and the Diane steak prepared table side both excellent!!! Dessert was key lime pie tasted great but portion very small. Same atmosphere as I remember throughout the years...the table side food prep is unique in London and adds to the overall experience. Good value for quality. I would recommend a visit.

Fabulous experience!. London is fortunate to have a fine dining restaurant with such an extensive menu. The service has always been consistently excellent and the free parking is a real bonus. The overall value is one of the best for a quiet evening out or a large group. Michael's has been a favorite of mine for many years and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The tables are large with space between them, not tiny and jammed together. This provides a more private dining experience and allows table side preparation of food. For me the restaurant has contributed to some great memories and is a great way to spend an evening.

Good decor, terrible food. Had the opportunity to come here for a corporate event where we could order off the entire menu. I ordered the escargot and the duck confit. What a terrible disappointment! The cheese was congealed on top of the escargot by the time it got to me, and the escargot themselves were tasteless.
The duck confit...... it takes special work to make such bad duck confit. It was bland and dry, worse than their chicken, which was also bland and dry! There was a heap of sauce dumped on top of the duck in order to give it more flavour I guess.
The only good menu item was the lamb chops, which were very tender and well seasoned.
On the plus side, the server was very courteous, and professional. The service was very good!

Gone Straight Downhill. A few years ago this was 'the' place for a romantic meal but our last visit was awful.
The place needs a reno, a fresher menu, and just a good dusting. It seemed so dated as soon as we walked in. Is this1976? Nope? Well, then time to break out the new décor and do this place over again.
If it was simply the atmosphere that was lacking that would be okay but it was the meal too.
The steaks were tough, the vegetables undercooked, and the potatoes were cold....like grossly undercooked. The steak had so much fate and gristle we were tempted to talk with the manager but we just choked what we could down and paid the inflated bill.
We will not be back.

Fancy dining. Nice restaurant. Food and service match the price. I proposed to my wife there!

Disappointing!. My husband and I use to go there for our anniversaries. The food was skimpy and a little pricey but my husband enjoyed the atmosphere and Jack's singing. On our 25th anniversary my husband requested our names be put up on the sign out front with "Happy 25th Anniversary" and was assured that it would be there. We pulled up that night and my husband looked at both sides of the sign and it was not there. He was hugely disappointed and I told him that he should mention his disappointment but he refused and he's never wanted to go back so they lost some customers without even knowing it!

Very dissapointing dining experience!!. This restaurant came highly reccomended to my boyfriend and myself.
The service was mediocure with our waiter being quite rude. We started with a table-side prepared Ceasar salad. The waiter was quite enjoyable to watch, and the salad was good. However, that could not be said for our entrees. My boyfriend ordered what was suppose to be the pork tenderloin, however was nothing but, reminded us of a very thin pork schnitzel. The meal was very bland and his potatoes very salty!
I had the scallops which were okay, however, the potatoes and veggies were extremely salty, and really not enjoyable!
Very dissapointing dining experience. There are so many other dining options available in the city, that are more satifying to not only your stomach but pocketbook as well!!!
I will not be recommneding this restaurant- dissapointed!

Attended a 50th wedding anniversary dinner on Saturday past and was thoroughly disappointed. My wife and I have been going to Michael's for almost 20 years, but after the last couple of visits, we may not be back. Food was ok, not special. Service was bad...at times the server was rude. Too bad...it use to be a good place to dine.

Excellent!. My friends and I went there for our annual Christmas dinner. We had never been before but we will for sure be back. I had the shrimp cocktail to start and then the scallops carbonara. One of the best meals of my life! My husband had the prime rib and it was very tasty. The service was excellent.
GerryT
We were there for a presentation, fixed menu selections. I had prime rib medium-rare, nicely done, melt in your mouth. My wife had the chicken, very delicious. Soup was cream-based vegetable, excellent. Didn't have it this time, but next time I'm going strictly for the made-at-your-table Caesar salad!

Need to upgrade. It's really time to pull this place out of 1975, and update the menu and the ambience. The food is ok for older white people, but would be of little interest or satisfaction to younger crowds. Service is, however, top notch.

Unfortunately, the fond memories of prior dining experiences was not anywhere close to last evening's meal. A couple of years have passed since our last visit. Found the menu over-priced ($10.50 for glass of local wine priced at 19.95 bottle at LCBO and most entrees priced in upper $30 range). Started with table-side prepared caesar salad - entertaining but poorly executed with so much garlic that it could not be finished. My wife's prime rib was adequate while my salmon was served with heavy sauce that smothered mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Too bad. Very disappointed. Too many other dining options available.
