Service great especially Albert who served us the 1st time we were there. Was so good we ate there twice during our 4 day visit to London. Spring rolls great and also
really enjoyed the pan-fried seaweed covered tofu. My son and daughter in law also enjoyed it even though they are meat eaters. Meals so well done- you don't feel like you are not getting meat. Very reasonablly priced. Zen salad also godd.
Went with a mix of vegan and vegetarian friends for dinner. We decided to share all of our plates so that we could try everything out. The combo has quite a bit of food. Everything was cooked well and the sauces were fantastic.
Great vegetarian food! Really liked the hot and sour soup, and the drumsticks. Also, the sushi platter was good! Tea was nice too, and the service was fast.
Absolutely Delicious!!! Our family's favourite restaurant for sure! We always start with the Soy Nuggets (we honestly felt the need to double check that they were soy the first time! They are just like McDonalds chicken nuggets but SO much better and cruelty free!) and then my husband and I split the Sweet and Sour Lappa with two sides of white rice. it is the perfect amount of food to split between us and so delicious! They are super accommodating as well. Sometimes we don't feel like the pineapple that comes with the Lappa so we substitute broccoli for no extra charge (not that it would even matter because it's pretty affordable- $35 for the two of us including tip!). Even when they are busy we have never had to wait long for our food. Our nuggets are out in 5 minutes and the Lappa comes our just after we finish the nuggets. The owners are also very nice and attentive and the atmosphere is overall very nice. We actually had the reception of our wedding here last year with most of my husband's family being meat eaters and they loved it as well!
A smaller restaurant with a huge menu. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is exceptional. The dishes are not too expensive and they're quite tasty. Definitely worth checking out
Good vegetarian food with an Asian influence.
The enoki mushroom meal was quite delicious, as was their seitan. As a non-vegetarian myself, I find the meat "fakers" to be poor imitations of the real things and would steer away from them. Same applies to deserts without real butter. Otherwise, atmosphere is conducive to a small group, but probably not imitate enough for a date.
Just arrived in London Ontario and staying at a hotel near this restaurant. It's a good place cheap good and friendly service! It's all vegetarian check it out
Friends of ours asked us out for lunch here and, though I am a carnivore by preference, I do really like vegetables so thought I would give it a try.
It is a vegan franchise and this one is close to downtown and very close to other popular restaurants like the Morrissey House and the Budapest. Offerings are primarily Chinese or Japanese and it's surprising to see so many popular items we at one time or another ordered from Chinese takeout.
We did a lot of sharing selecting numerous items and everyone appreciating them. Items selected were good but not outstanding to the carnivores as missing meat was slightly noticed.Maybe a little bit more seasoning options for diners would be a suggestion.
Service was prompt and food was hot. None of us suffered any severe meat withdrawls and would consider returning some day.
I smell like soy after I eat. The chicken was great. It tasted just like chicken nuggets! Just ask for some sweet and sour sauce and you're good to go! If you love broccoli, you're in for a treat! Everything had broccoli! The BBQ pork was good and the portion size was nice. The beef was less than expectations and had a texture akin to beef lungs. Server was nice.
Shhhhh. Food was really good, the service is good, the place is small but cozy.
I AM NOT A VEGETARIAN.. But someone in our party was, so we went here to make her happy, and wow, was I amazed.
I went back 2 days later by myself, the portions are correctly sized, the taste is awesome, and overall the experience was an outstanding value.
Would I go back even though I am a rabid carnivore, yes........in a heartbeat.
One thing I'll never understand is why vegetarians make things taste like the very meat they detest.........LOL !!! They certainly do a good job of it though.
Yumm. I love this place. The combinations are awesome and a really good deal. Sweet and sour lappa is the best. They're always really quick and friendly and the tea is good too (:
So Delicious!. We recently enjoyed another fabulous visit to Zen Gardens. The service we received was warm and inviting, and the amount of attention we were given was perfect.
We ordered Miso Soup (deliciously simple) and the incredible Hot and Sour Soup (packed with a delightful array of mushrooms, and packed with a spicy punch!) I absolutely love the Jasmine Rice -- so earthy and tasty -- so I always get a bowl of it to accompany my meal. Our entrées were "Chicken" Fried Rice (huge portion, complete with tasty chunks of asparagus), Sweet and Sour Lappa (fantastic flavour with so many colourful and fresh veggies) and Vegetable Tempura (light and crispy batter, not heavy and drenched in oil).
Our server figured out it was our daughter's birthday, and she surprised us at the end of our meal with a chunky chocolate chip cookie wedge for the girl of honour! In addition, we were given a Happy Birthday gift certificate to bring to our next visit. What a generous thing to do!
The cost of our lovely meal was affordable and we felt we got great value for our money.
As vegetarians, it is refreshing to dine at a restaurant where we don't need to worry about the ingredients in anything we order. What a pleasure!
We love everything about Zen Gardens and can't wait to return.....
Wonderful Food !. My friend and I visited Zen Gardens, London, Ontario. We were not sure what to expect. We were told by the staff that the dishes are mainly Chinese with a touch of Japanese. We ordered two different types of rice, hot and sour soup, spring rolls, and some other dish that tasted like chicken. All the food was DELICIOUS, a little different from the regular so-called Chinese food and worth the price. The quantity is good enough that two with a small appetite can share. The dishes that say chicken, do taste like chicken even though it is made of soya products. I have a feeling it might have some non veg broth, but am not sure. We paid about $50.- for all that we ate and took a doggy bag home.
The waitresses were rather dull and did not speak English. It took us some time to decide what to order as we could not get an explanation of what wanted to order from the wait staff.
Overall, the food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, quiet and the price was reasonable. I would rate it as a 4.5 out of 5.
Awesome food !
I came here during a Lenten vegetarian phase and thought I wouldn't enjoy it because I have never really enjoyed vegan food. It surprised me greatly the things they can do with some tofu and some mushrooms here. I will be going back here some day, and I recommend it to anyone doubting the goodness of vegan food.

The end of my program here is drawing near, and some friends that I've made during my stay are starting to go off into different directions. Last night, we had a get together for dinner only a few days before my friend, Meagan moves away, at one of her favourite restaurants in London - Zen Gardens. It isn't unique to London as they have multiple locations in Eastern Canada, mostly in Ontario, with 1 in Quebec, and 1 in New Brunswick. However, between my two visits to the one in London, their food and service have been consistently impressive. Zen Gardens (344 Dundas Street, London, ON) isn't my typical eatery because it's a vegetarian restaurant, but I have yet to have something there that I didn't find enjoyable. It's a smaller restaurant that seats about 40 people, with simple Asian-inspired decor. It's really easy to get to because it's on the route of the 2 Dundas, one of the most frequent busses here. The menu is comprised of Japanese and Chinese-inspired dishes with vegan and glu
I usually get delivery from here and it's always excellent. 99% of the menu is vegan and the rest is vegetarian. Today I decided to eat in. The staff came by to take the order and drop off the order and never again. Then there was no staff when we wanted the bill and after 10-15 mins I went to the back and asked for it. The place is a bit dated. But if you just focus on the food it's great. Or save yourself some hassle and get take out or delivery.

This Zen Gardens makes the best Chick Balls I've ever had, and I've tried them at every single location!
They have the most "chicken" and the least amount of breading.
The breading is also delicious though. Flavourful, soft, and crispy.
The sweet and sour sauce is very yummy! We got extra because it's so good!
The service was super quick and very friendly!
The atmosphere, as is true of every Zen Gardens, is chilled and laid back.
I did not realise until I got to Zan Gardens that it is affiliated with the amazing Kings Cafe in Kensington market, a favourite of mine for many, many years. The Zen Gardens menu was familiar with lots of delicious sounding plates. Unfortunately I only had a stomach big enough for lunch otherwise I would happily order all of it.
My friend, a staunch carnivore was very impressed with his "beef" noodles and really enjoyed them.
Great place for vegan food! Mostly all vegan Asian cuisine with unique fare and traditional dishes with vegan plant based meat.
Ordered from here for Super Bowl This year as we didn't feel like making anything. Ordered the day before and it was ready on time for pick up, hot and fresh and we got a discount for picking up. Owners are very friendly and very helpful. Great food and great service, will definitely be ordering here again.
Would recommend the bean curd main dish and chow mien! Got to try a bunch of types of vegetable proteins. Everything was flavourful and hearty.
Wonderful, healthy, delicious food. Friendly & kind staff and a very peaceful ambiance. Simple pleasures of life.
I love this place for their wide variety of flavours and vegan options, whether it’s dine in or take out. If you do dine in I recommend their teas! My fave dish is Sichuan-Style Soy Chicken Ball Casserole.
My all time favorite vegetarian/vegan restaurant in London! Some of my favorite dishes include -
1. Udon noodle soup (S35): the base soup is so fresh and yummy;
2. Curry Vermicelli (N62): portion size is very generous;
3. Rice noodles with soy beef (N63): rice noodles are so chewy, full of wok hay (energy of a wok) and soy beef seasoned to perfection!
I would eat there everyday if my 👛 allows 😄
Zen Gardens was busy but on top of their game....my eyes were bigger than my stomach, but I enjoyed a lit of this over and a little of that over there and the rest throughout the week....NOM
Sushi platter with extra avocado add on, curry Vermicelli with seitan add on, seitan platter, kung pao soy chicken...and the best Sweet and sour soup I have had since going plantbased, oh so long ago
Was recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint!!! The food is unreal and service very attentive and fast. My partner and I both got a bento box (dinner combination) which is an amazing deal for what you get. It comes with everything pictured plus dessert, sweet and sour soup and a quality green tea. Love love love! Will be returning 100%
Favourite place for something different that feels healthy, but tastes delicious! Highly recommend the lappa balls. Always beautifully presented, especially the combo platters
The place is very beautiful and calm. I had crystal rolls, dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaf and Wunagi sushi. Everything was very fresh and tasted good. Was too hungry to take a picture of 3 appetizers but here is a photo of wunagi. It was so good thar I did not miss having fish in my sushi
An excellent location for great priced and superbly flavourful food.
I've recently decided to go vegetarian for a number of reasons; and one of my main concerns has been whether or not I'd be able to find good vegetarian alternatives to my typicall diet. Zen gardens has put that fear to rest.
Genuinely delicious cuisine, fast and freindly service; a treat for whenever your in the mood for some vegetarian food.
Absolute best vegetarian place I have ever been to in London. Clean, fast and friendly. You can really tell everyone here cares.
Food was excellent - flavourful and abundant in fresh vegetables. Had the mushroom curry lunch combo, the portion size was great. Service was slow considering only one person was doing everything but the taste makes up for it.
Excellent food, ambiance and the ginger tea was amazing. Presentation was lovely and the staff were attentive and inviting. Definatly going back to this little gem!
It was excellent food and service. I love coming here when I'm in London!
