Went in a large group of 14 people, and the service was quick. The dishes weren't very clean and the menus were a bit worn out, but the food came in big portions and tasted on par with other good restaurants I've had the same dishes from. We had lots of leftovers to take out, so if we ordered less, we would've spent less than $20 per person and probably still would've had leftovers!
Came here with my family on a Sunday for lunch and it was decently busy, didn’t impact how long we had to wait - we got seated immediately. The server we had was quick to give us some tea and get our orders in which is well appreciated. The atmosphere was quaint and clean, not too loud which was nice. I usually order from here on UberEats but it was nice to come in the restaurant and sit down.
We ordered the seafood congee (not pictured), seafood pineapple fried rice, fried noodle with XO sauce, and lo mein. All the food came out very quickly and piping hot. The portions for each dish was humongous, we had lots of leftovers. The congee is a staple here; the texture is very good and the seafood inside is well cooked. The XO noodles were not spicy as I anticipated since the menu said it was but it was good nonetheless. The fried rice was decent, there were no pineapple pieces in the rice so I’m a little confused where the pineapple comes in but regardless, it was a classic fried rice. Lastly, the lo mein had lots of sauce on top of the crispy noodles which was delicious.
Overall, this place is great for a quick, affordable, and tasty bite of Chinese food!
I had my dinner at Congee Chan tonight. It’s a Chinese restaurant on Wonderland Rd. and Beaverbrook Ave.
There are some cool but strange features. First, their menu is unmatched in size. It holds a massive 8 double-sided pages. On top of that, there is also the Home Made Dessert menu, Special Recommendation menu, and the Lobster Combos menu. Second, one of their menus offers dishes to feed several people. One of them can feed 10 at the cost of $688.88!
To feed myself though, I got their House Super Bowl Congee. It comes in a large bowl and is filled with rice porridge, and the feel and consistency reminds me of Cream of Wheat. In the porridge are the many ingredients, such as hokkigai (surf clams), tiger shrimp, scallops, fish maw (swim bladder of fish), garoupa (a large fish), and crab meat. This was massive as well. The pieces of seafood were pretty large.
Out of the many, many desserts they offer I chose two. A fried banana with honey, and vanilla ice cream on a red bean pancake.
Considering the amount of food I got, my bill only came to $46.
Congee Chan puts other Chinese restaurants to shame. Its ultimate strength is in the sheer number of highly desired dishes that they provide. Congee represents China’s culinary culture with ease.
Solid Canto style restaurant reminiscent of Congee Queen and similar chains. Beef Ho Fun is great. Spicy turnip cake is decent.
I'd skip the soft shell crab fried rice - crab is fried to death and mostly just tastes like batter and the rest of the fried rice is mostly just spicy and salty and not much other flavour.
Rice and noodle dishes are quite large for the price though, which is awesome - 25 buckish per person gets us essentially two entire meals.
We got takeout and it was pretty good. Noodles tasted nice and general tao chicken did as well. Nice amount of spiciness in the food and polite service.
Went with my family and the portions are huge. We come here all the time and the food is meant to be shared as a group, but they do have some single portion items that come with rice. The service is really good the staff are very attentive and always walking around so you can ask anyone for help. The ambiance is nice and it does get packed pretty fast when it comes to dinner so make a reservation if you don’t like waiting, but it’s worth the wait.
I got the sizzling black pepper beef, shui mai , har gow, house fried rice, bbq pork buns, scallop and shrimp congee, deep fried doughnuts, and fried shrimp paste balls. I usually also get the crispy chicken half, fried fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce, chef special chow mein and the house special congee. I love getting their braised beef noodles so good! There’s always enough food for lots of left overs! The price you pay depends on how much you order but if you’re splitting with a group it’s pretty cheap.
We were new to this area and Tried this place for the first time with my fam and friends. It didn’t disappoint. Staff were nice, restaurant was busy but the wait time was fairly short.
Food- everything tasted great, tasted like authentic chinese cuisine.
Portions- good for 2-3 persons
Price- great value for money
Ambience- nice
Not advisable to bring in baby strollers. There’s very little room around the restaurant.
Washroom- clean and has a changing station for babies.
Free parking
The food was above average quality. The service great. I tried congee for the first time (specifically the tiger shrimp and scallop congee which was recommended to me by the waitress) it was very savory and delicious. It's a great comfort food. I'm definitely going to be trying more types of congee now. The mango desert at the end was also delicious and complementary. It is a little more on the pricey side though but not overpriced.
We ordered sliced beef soup and shrimp wonton soup last night for dinner.
The beef soup was really delicious and perfect for a winter night. It had the right amount of spice to it and would recommend it you like spicy food. The portion size was huge, one soup is enough for 2 people. My only issue with it was there was too much oil in it.
Wonton soup was subtle on flavours , good shrimp wontons. The portion size was enough for one person but a little pricey.
The food I ordered through uber eats was freshly made, and still very hot when it arrived.
The quality of the food is good and they are very tasty and delicious. The portions are pretty good as well(good for 2-4 person per dish)
I would recommend their General Tso’s Chicken, Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper Sauce, Yangzhou Fried Rice with Shrimp and
BBQ Pork, Seafood Superbowl Congee, and milktea(hopefully they have the option to add pearls on it — it would be perfect combination).
I would also like to thank their manager for his kindness and good service.
Best Chinese Food in London so far! Overall, I am satisfied!
1 of the best Chinese restaurants in London
After pandemic price gone up, and less portion, but still tastes 😋 good 👍
Authentic Chinese food! I have a good dining experience every time I come :)
This place was packed when we arrived but we didn’t have to wait that long to be seated. The staff was quick in getting our orders and didn’t take long for us to get the orders. They have a meal set which was a good price and we even had extras as the servings was big enough for 4-5 people most importantly was it all tastes good!!!
My wife and I had a fantastic experience at Congee Chan.
The food is authentic and very delicious. We both lived in China for a few years, and eating here reminded use so much of the amazing flavours of the food we ate there. Not only are the flavours authentic and rich, but the ingredients are fresh as well. The bok choy, tofu, potatoes, peppers; all tasted amazing.
Finally, the service was lightning fast considering how well prepared the food was. We ordered and within no time our dishes were coming out, without any long wait between dishes either. They must be well staffed in the kitchen because the service was excellent.
The portions were also generous. We ordered 3 dishes and an appetizer and had plenty of leftovers.
I cannot recommend this restaurant more for authentic flavourful Chinese food.
Wonderful restaurant with an extensive menu of absolute classics. The congee and fried dough sticks are a must have combo and so is the minced beef soup with egg whites. They also offer combos for great prices and a variety of food. The combo for 2 + some congee was actually enough for our party of 3 when we visited. Great spot overall for authentic Chinese cuisine.
I was impressed by how quick the food was able to come out. The restaurant is spacious and has a parking lot. The portion sizes for the S meals were actually really generous for the price.
I'm only taking a star off because the server took a while to come back and one of the dishes I had wasn't too flavourful. It seemed like they forgot the ginger maybe?
