Review The Springs Restaurant - London

Katie Kahvo
The Springs is such a gem in London! Last week was my first time there and I can't say enough good things about it. Not only is the food exquisite but the atmosphere is so peaceful. With it's gorgeous windows and stone work this restaurant is not one to miss! The owner, Dean, is also truly one of a kind, with his huge heart and passion for community, I can't wait to go back to support him and this beautiful restaurant. The Springs was such an incredible hit for my bridal shower!! The room was bright, cheery, spacious and nicely decorated with fresh flowers. There was ample seating for close to 30 people, with space to mingle with all of the guests. Dean and Ron were incredible hosts, very accommodating and provided everything we needed to have a wonderful bridal shower. Dean even drove down the street to get gluten free bread for the gluten free guests to have bread for the burgers and turkey wraps. The guests raved about the quality of the delicious food that was served. The whole experience surpassed my expectations; I felt like I won the lottery with Dean and Ron and The Springs restaurant! I highly recommend The Springs not only for dinner but for every event you are having!

This is not my first time being here but tonight was definitely the best!!! The service is amazing and the food is out of this world! If you need your taste buds to go to a different planet you need to come here! I can’t say I’ve had much lamb before but watching this lamb fall off the bone was incredible!! If I could rate this 11 stars I would!

Had a pretty good time at The Springs celebrating my anniversary and engagement. We ordered the arancini for an appetizer and they were pretty good. Not the best I’ve had, but still very flavourful! My entree was the smoked duck breast and it was fantastic - highly recommend! My partner ordered the salmon which was decent, sadly a little dry. We ordered the Turtles cheesecake for dessert and it wasn’t anything special, tasted like something that could have been store bought. The food altogether was good though a bit pricey. Overall, the friendly and attentive staff, live piano player, and environment helped bring this rating to a 4/5. Good for a fancy night out to celebrate a special occasion!

I had the pleasure of having my wedding reception at The Springs. Dean & his staff were so accommodating and made the process so seamless, literally the best service we’ve experienced. The food was probably the best part, all of our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. From the soup, to the steak and the dessert. The pricing was great too, you can tell they do this because they love it. I will not stop recommending The Springs to my family & friends for their events. Thank you again, Dean & The Springs staff for making this unforgettable.

Our theatre company performed at The Springs this evening for a private Christmas party. Our company has performed in a vast array of different venues, and our experience at The Springs was outstanding. The staff were very accommodating and communicative with our team about timing of meal courses around our scenes. The servers were personable, enthusiastic, attentive, and prompt. Because of this outstanding communication and service, the show (meal courses included) ran incredibly smoothly. And now we talk about the meal. This was, by far, some of the best food our team has ever encountered in our many years performing at various venues. It was a real pleasure performing at The Springs!

Love this restaurant! I have been here on 3 different occasions and have been thoroughly impressed every time. The delicious foods, the lovely ambiance and the attentive staff are all 5 Stars. Nice appetizers and drinks selection. The AAA Angus Beef Tenderloin and the Half Rack of Lamb were both cooked to perfection and were outstanding. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing spot to celebrate any event/special occasion! The staff are all so welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and where it’s sourced. I came for my birthday and was blown away by the flavours. The GF chocolate cake was to die for. I will be back for more of everything! Yum yum yum

We came for my wife’s birthday dinner and were not disappointed. The food was amazing! It was a nice place and had good service. My favourite part was the live classical piano during our whole dinner. I guess we lucked out and had the whole place to ourselves so it felt very personable. René on the piano really made it feel special. We had the venison loin which was amazing. The espresso and black pepper crust paired with the rare venison and sauce was just too good! My wife had the salmon and we had the tuna to start which were also both very good! This restaurant has been on my list to try for years but for whatever reason never got around to trying it and I’m glad I finally did! Now I will have to come back soon!

Dean and his team accommodated our 24 person party in the private lower level party room this week. The room and atmosphere was perfect for our group, and the food was delicious. We ordered off the set menu, and could select what we wanted at dinner - no pre ordering and asking everyone to select their food before we got there was needed! Correspondence before the event was quick and easy. Service was efficient, genuine, and involved. It says something when the owner checks in on your group to make sure expectations are being met. There is great pride in their farm to table food (no frozen food) and local ingredients. I recommend The Springs Restaurant as a good venue for group dinners, and I'll be back to try their everyday menu too.

Been here lots of times with my friend. Nice patio if the weather is good and a great dining area inside. Menu changes with the seasons. Great app's and the mains are fantastic. Really nice food and the service is great also. Never a bad experience--we usually come 3-4 times a year.

The Springs has a great lunch menu with a good selection of sandwiches, salads and desserts. All fresh and tasty. It's quiet so you can talk. The service is very attentive. Lots of parking. They have a covered patio.

I'll admit that the appetizer was the best I have ever had. the combination of flavours was divine-oven roasted Cambozola with roasted garlic and carmalized onions, on grilled pita. But they failed miserably on the entree. Just a pile of gritty mush, slopped on a plate with some beets, mushrooms and an over done piece of duck, hidden under a huge pile of arugula. No one was sitting on the patio and now I know why. It had no charm, no personality and no ambience that you would expect from a typical fine dining restaurant. You would think if Glen Bennett is playing the piano, they would at least have speakers so their patio guests could enjoy the music as well. The patio appears to be an after thought. It has potential, but no one is paying attention. Check out Fellinis for some patio inspiration!
This was our third and last visit to this overpriced and mediocre restaurant. While we do like the ambience, the quality and inspiration of the food is not inline with the price. Our meal started with the crab cakes-not bad, chili aioli that accompanied was nice, fresh herbs helped the "clumsy" cakes. My partner had the onion soup, bland and over seasoned, not the rich broth you expect from the "French" style of this dish. My entrée, the Maple Salmon accompanied by Jasmine Rice that had the consistency of Risotto-not the preparation that features this rice. The green beans and Brussels were well prepared, and the smoked bacon was the only highlight in this dull dish. My partner had the Goat cheese gratin, not the creamy texture you might expect, but rather a chunky spread. Much of the menu has remained pretty much the same for the past few years. Live music is a nice touch.

Very quaint little place with amazing food and a great head chef (Andrew W.) who always comes out to see how the food was and chat a bit to make sure your experience is a good one. Always testing the boundaries with some of the different plates and specials but they always seem to work!

Wonderful menu that changes seasonally, occasionally rising to greatness. Initial visit was outstanding, subsequent returns have been good but uneven.

Housed in a renovated former church, the decor is contemporary--but the large open space and proximity of neighbouring tables can make conversation difficult. Service is competent.

The Springs. This wonderful restaurant is a must if you are in London. Never a bad meal or service. Everything is always wonderful. I have been at least 10 times, from lunch dates with the girls and the boss to Christmas parties. We have always tried new menu items and the daily special ' s and we are never disappointed. This really is a gem and London should be proud to have Chef Andrew and the very friendly owners of this outstanding restaurant in this city, which is very lacking consistent service and food.
Love this place.

Mediocre at best, certainly not "fine dining". The wine selection was okay, loud atmosphere obstructive to the dining experience, but everything looked promising. UNTIL the food arrived... It was subpar, at best.

The overall execution was far from inspirational. Every dish was missing creativity and commitment and the end result is a careless, lifeless production. Gummy, flavourless elements marinated in what might be described as kitchen scraps and dishwater resulted in barely edible food.

Dull, unsophisticated dining establishment being passed as "FINE DINING" The Springs Restaurant marks a special new low in this city.

Uniquely delicious!. I am an exchange student from Sinagpore, who studied at Ivey. Though there are many asian restaurants around in London, i know i need something unique, something that speaks for Canadian food. Here I came, to this chapel-converted little restaurant. The food we ordered were Sauteed Escargots and Goat's cheese for appetiser. The escargots are so tender and definitely not rubber-like. The source that goes with it is just nicely creamed and favoured. The goat's cheese is presented on a hotplate so that you can enjoy the food while it is still hot. Though the cheese is fattening, it's a worthwhile fat to burn during next jogging. We also had Grilled "North Harvest" Salmon and Venison Loin for main course. . The salmon is so fresh that the chef decided to cook it slightly over raw. As for the Venison, it's my first time trying it medium raw. It is so GOOD! Maybe i should even ask for raw raw, as i do feel it's a little bit hard still. But the key to this delicious dish is definitely the source. Nicely blended. I will definitely come back here again for great food! I like the piano man as well, who worked so hard to make us nice music while we enjoy our dinner. Don't forget to tip him!

Excellent food. Good/tasty no dairy gluten-free choices. Service was excellent!

My wife and I went there for dinner last night and were blown away by the food and the service. We will definitely be back.

Lovely. This restaurant is a converted church and also has a patio on the side. I sat outside on the patio which was quite nice. The quality of the food is excellent! I'm try to reduce my carb intake so I asked for the turkey salad sandwich without the bread and they made a really nice meal out of the turkey and a side salad. It was delicious. We also had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. It is much better than it sounds! It tastes like a delicious dense brownie.

Dinner. We went to the springs for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service. our server "Ron" was very knowledgeable about the choices on the menu. the food was different and exceptional. This is not your regular restaurant. We were looking for food that was not the norm and by George we found it !!! I have to admit it was a bit on the pricey side, so it won't be a regular once a week excursion, but for special occasions, it's at the top of our list. Well done CHEF !!!!

Noise levels stifle conversation. Ordered a quiche for lunch which was the tiniest sliver of pie I'd ever been served. Although the server did warn me that the quiche would not be a full meal. Most annoying were the acoustics. Asked the manager about the noise and he said they were working on it.

Not terrible but for the price not really good. Crab cakes good. Scallops were cooked just right but came with a gross frisée salad and indecipherable sauce, served on a mushy fried patty of some kind. Wings ok but the tiny sweet potato crisps were too tiny, not very tasty and just hard to eat. Chorizo and mushroom tart not good. Service reasonable and pleasant ambience though.

Loved It. We came for lunch today and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was soothing and lovely. We're looking forward to our next visit already.

Are You Kidding Me?. I can't believe anyone who writes a bad review about this restaurant. I've eaten here three times with a group of people and each time have shared dishes. The reason we share dishes is because someone invariably says, "Oh my gosh you have to try this." It is that good. I have never had a bad dish let alone a bad meal.

The piano and/or guitar and singing is a nice touch. The atmosphere is also excellent.

The absolute only negative comment I can make if you can call it that is that it is a bit loud but that doesn't stop me from coming back. This is top notch dining.

Disappointed to say the least. Had the day out with a friend and were heading downtown to grab some lunch. I remebered hearing about The Springs and suggested we try it. It was shortly after 2 pm and there were only 2 people on the patio and 8 other people in the restaurant including my friend and I. I was really impressed with the cleanliness> The floors were spotless. We were seated and given the menus which looked interesting. Wanting to save room for dessert, my friend ordered a romaine salad and I ordered the bacon and potato soup. The server directed me to the back side of the menu where all the sandwiches were listed. We said no thanks and I asked if I could have a roll with my soup or some kind of bread. The server said the bread hadn't come in yet for the day. Not sure why he was directing me to the sandwich portion of the menu????
The food looked nice but was dreadful. Actually, it was the worst meal I have had in a long time. The server obviously knew we were not enjoying ourmeal because he did not come back to the table for anything- not even to ask how it was and then we had to go up to the bar to pay. he again did not ask if we enjoyed our meal which was clear, we did not as we left it sitting there! The soup was called potato bacon. There was no bacon. It was a very watery broth if you will with onions and a very small pieces of potato. It had a slight smell of bacon at first but no bacon could be found. It was nasty.
My friends' salad looked nice at first with a big piece of lemon on it. However, the lettuce was brown and the croutons were burnt. There washowever one small peice of bacon.
What a huge disappointment that was.
I can't imagine that food would be acceptable to the owners.

Very Nice. Excellent service and all the right flavors, portions were generous too! cant wait to try the venison.

The Springs Restaurant - Fabulous Lunch. My good friend and I just had lunch there today and it was fabulous. The service was quick and it was a pleasure to have the owners greet us at the door. The decor is fresh and not overbearing. The music was there but did in no way interfere with our 3 1/2 hour conversation. We never felt rushed. The chef came out to meet everyone toward the end of lunch. The menu is fresh and interesting. My friend had the burger and fries and the serving was very generous. She loved it. I had the steak sandwich with salad and ordered it rare (often difficult to get this cooked right at any restaurant). It was fabulous, tender (I almost didn't need my knife) and very generous with 2 pieces of tenderloin. The Cafe au Lait at the end was perfect. I did notice another reviewers comment about not enough vegetarian meals. On the website it mentions that they are happy to accommodate special diets and know that with a mention of any special needs during the reservation, they chef would enjoy the challenge. I would recommend this restaurant very highly. I am a person who worked for many years in the restaurant business and tend to be quite picky and critical. I can't think of anything negative to say. Oh, and the free parking is a bonus. We'll be back!

Veggie Options Thumbs Down. Sadly the vegetarian options include only one dish which is far to sweet to be palatable - even warned by waiter- no other options besides a veggie pasta when asked was offered. Waiting for months and months for a change.
Loved everything else about this beautiful place, i just wish i could share it with my Vegetarian Partner!
Especially when we dine out so often, and gather with friend out also.- as a result, we go elsewhere-
Its so unfortunate.
Come on People! we want to dine with you!

It's good but.... The restaurant is very loud, service was very quick and meal was good but basically it's the only on king lite the menu is some what similar to what you'd get at the only on king. The pricing is about the same I'd recommend the springs if you cant get a Reso at the only on king. A big plus for the Springs is the Free Parking

Best in the city!!!. I have been to the Springs on many occasions since it opened- for lunch, afternoon coffee, dinner and haven't been disappointed once. The food is incredible- mostly locally sourced and thoughtfully and expertly prepared. The chef is truly talented. The staff is well-trained, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is homey and relaxed.
It reminds me of Lumiere in Vancouver, but a lot less pretentious.
You HAVE to try the beet tart for dessert. Trust me, it's worth every calorie.

Such delicious food, wonderful service. We decided that we needed to go out for good conversation and a great meal and so we picked The Springs. From the time we were seated until we left we were not dissapointed. We never once felt rushed, we were well taken care of and the most difficult time we had all evening was choosing between all the amazing things on the menu! We each choose something different and we can all tell you that the Venison, the AAA Beef and the Chicken were superb. We found the portions to be perfect as we each cleaned our plate. I have read some negative comments here and I would like to give my 2cents. We arrived at 6:15p.m. and our table was ready. We enjoyed each others company, engaged in lots of conversation, shared appetizers and leisurely sipped some drinks. We had a warm, homemade, ever so delicious bun, full of flavours and obviously made from scratch. Shortly after that our meals came. How long did it take, I don't know we were having a great dining experience as well as spending time with each other, we didn't even notice the time go by. We each had a good serving of food and not only were they beautifully displayed but the flavours were amazing. Each meal was a new and different experience with the most wonderful combination of herbs and spices. I can't say enough about the meals. People these days eat far too much at one sitting. There was ample food served, oh and did I mention fresh ingredients, you can't beat it. The waiters were there, present and pleasant. They were attentive without being overbearing, and never once did we feel like we should hurry up and leave. Near the end of our experience the chef came over, he made the rounds of the whole restaurant, how delightful he was. This is how dinning should be. Sure there was noise, how wonderful that people are engaged in conversations all over the restaurant. They are correct that there is no real private area but we never once couldn't hear each other speak or for that mater heard what the conversations were at the other tables around us. I appreciate the "starkness" of the restaurant, as it has been referred to by others. What I see is clean and classy. All 3 of us have already made plans for another evening at The Springs, we plan on trying everything on the menu! Tomorrow I'm taking a group for lunch and I can't wait.
London is so lucky to have this gem.

My waiter was so out of it that he brought my salad and the main course came after my friends had finished their main course, the place was nice but could do a lot better for servers, one word disapointed and would not hurry back.
Joe
Too loud to have a conversation, hear and clearly understand people across from my table. It's too small to have someone on a keyboard and singing into a microphone, then adding additional people singing along. I thought it was a restaurant, not kareoke. Food was very tasty, but small portions for price. Only one small bun per person, with no offer for more, besides that Service was very good. I would not go back again for a quiet dinner.

My date on Valentine's Day made reservations here. After reading negative reviews on here I was nervous. We had a great time, the service was great and the food was delicious! The only thing I didn't enjoy was there isn't much privacy between tables, but we still had a great time.
John
Deeelicious!!. Enjoyed Valentine's dinner with my wife. Glad I did not consider the negative comments by a couple of other reviewers. the
Where were they?
The service, ambiance and especially the food, all was awesome.

Fantastic!. The best meal I have had in London in a long time! The venison was amazing!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

First time visit. We'd heard nothing but good things and we were not disappointed! Best salmon I've ever had and the Israeli couscous flavour tasted like a party in my mouth. My wife had the special, beef tenderloin with mushroom risotto. She doesn't even like mushrooms but loved this. Great service and a warm friendly atmosphere to boot. Try it for yourself!
Kyle
Great Dinner!. My wife and I went to the Springs for dinner last Friday and we had a really great meal. For appetizers she had crab cakes, I had risotto balls with rabbit and cheese filling. Both were excellent but the risotto balls were outstanding. The mains were a pork tenderloin and a venison dish that were both perfectly prepared. We had tasty desserts as well. Their wine list has a good variety of decent wine and the servers actually know something about them. Overall, the place was super, food was great and the service was very good. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately. The waiter was knowledgeable and the place was very busy. This a long-ish review because the prices are on the high side and deserve an explanation of what you're getting. This was one of the best meals we've had in London.

Went to lunch with a friend. The service was quick and friendly, but we were the only people there. When we entered the restaurant they sat us at the bar, because they were preparing the dinning room for dinner service. I got the prime rib French dip sandwich. Which was tasty. The decor was modern and clean, but you wouldnt have privacy when busy. I'm going to try this restaurant again, but next time I'll try the dinner service.

Good experience. We tried the Springs the other night on a recommendation from a friend. It's an intriguing place from the outside - it's originally a church converted to a restaurant. The owners have put a lot of money into the exterior landscaping, parking lot and entrance. Inside is contemporary with lots of windows, but maybe a bit stark. It's definitely an open environment, so if you're looking for a quiet/private dinner, this won't suit your needs. It was very busy (generally a good sign) despite being open for a number of months now and the fact we were going there post Xmas holiday period (which is usually a slower time). It was a little loud, but that didn't bother us. Service was good, and the wine list has a good selection from inexpensive to expensive. We had the crab cake appetizer which was tasty. I had the scallops and my wife had the fish special. Both entrees were good. Overall I'd say 7.5 to 8 out of 10.

Best Restaurant in London!!. Our party arrived, we were served promptly, the service and food was excellent. I will be back for sure!!

Saucy Disapointment. It was a good evening (December 27, 2011), until I got covered in chocolate sauce. It all started with a waiter whom overestimated his ability to navigate the tables and carry plates back to the kitchen. The plates slipped and broke all over the floor. The waiter is to be complemented for taking ownership of the situation and admitted it was his fault that the plates had slipped. At least one person knows what they're doing there. However, management did not see fit to check with anybody after the incident. It was just treated as if nothing had happened. The maître d' quietly slinked away when the incident happened. The maître d' did not come to our table once during the evening, my theory on this is that two young people were part of the party and management simply does not wish to serve young people they are more interested in serving their senior clients. To hell with tomorrows customer. The food was not that great. There were scales in the crab cakes, and the chocolate tort was as heavy and dry as a brick. Coffee and tea after dinner were not offered to their guests. Without a doubt this restaurant ranks lower than Mac Donalds. I would not recommend you waste your time and your money at Springs Restaurant. The sooner it closes, the better off the culinary world will be. By the way Springs Restaurant did offer to dry clean the clothes at a dry cleaner of their choice. However, I was from out of town (Winnipeg), and was not going to be able to use their dry cleaner. I had no choice but to clean my clothes that evening. Luckily for them the chocolate came out, as the clothes were brand-new. Bad Food, Bad Experience equals Ghastly Dining Experience.

I was waiting for them to open, and it is WORTH it!. I read the reviews before I went, and they left me feeling a little rocky about the place, but as a self-proclaimed foodie I know that sometimes the best food brings out the worst in people; and this seemed to be the case. We were a walk-in table, but were served promptly last Thursday. I had the bruschetta to start, and I appreciated it as it reminded me of my time in Italy. My friend had the quail, which was a creative dish and delicious (yes, I stole a bite when she wasn't looking). The scallop dish was amazing in portion size and flavour, and her lamb was melt in your mouth and anything but flavourless. Our server was kind enough to inform us the amazing bread was baked fresh daily by a local market bakery, while the desserts were made in-house. The biscotti that came with the brulee was very complimentary and the chocolate tort was reminiscent of a traditional tort, beautiful dense and chocolately. Kudos to what they're doing there and I will keep going because I know that there is only more to expect from them.

On the fence. Visited The Springs on Tuesday with three of my close friends. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and although a little loud we didn't mind. Our table was ready when we arrived even though the restaurant was quite busy.

The wine selection is quite extensive which is a nice treat and the buns were amazing ( I have no idea what the other reviews were talking about) Our appetizers came out in a reasonable time and were delicious although a little small in portion. I ordered the Venison (on a recommendation from or server) and its was AMAZING! My friends had the Scallops (which were cold but we didn't say anything) and the Pan Chicken which was pretty bland and over priced.

All in all still up in the air about this place. Our little bubbly server gave us some of the best service I have had in a while and I would highly recommend the Venison, and on site parking was nice, but other than that the food was just ok and the prices seemed a little high. I will be giving this place a second chance however.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Where do I begin? The white wine i ordered was poured into a red wine glass; the bread came 20 minutes late and was overcooked with what looks like leftover sweet potato baked in. We order the tuna and crabcakes; tuna was overcooked, and the crabcakes could be called crab meatballs for they were much too small. I ordered the Lamb Shank- BIG mistake; it came in a pasta bowl that was swimming in au jus from the lamb, along with the vegetables, I think carrots, and parsnip and fingerling potatoes....however it was so BLAND as it appeared and tasted like it was just shoved in a crock pot and scooped out and put in a pasta bowl. Our waiter didn't even offer us fresh cracked black pepper; it was sitting on the server table 2 feet away from him. We ordered the cinnamon cheesecake, and that was OK, but nothing special- it had some vile apple gelatin topping that tasted like it came from a jar, and was unpalatable.
All in all this was my 2nd and final visit to this restaurant. I had previously gone for lunch and got some run of the mill sandwich with chicken that was not freshly prepared, lukewarm cheddar soup, and lukewarm pot of tea.
Overall, The Springs is disappointing in its decor as well, one big open area that has no private or booth seating, no artwork, no spectacular lighting fixture, no tableclothes even......they should have hired a designer, for this looks like it was put together on the cheap cheap.
Given the prices, I expect more. The viability of food and service is more on par with Swiss Chalet- actually that is better for the chain restaurants have quality-control.
I would recommend The Tasting Room for piping hot food, bigger portions, and better prices if you are looking for unique twists on food, or The Keg- at least the price point in on par with the quality controlled food and service- the wait staff will always offer fresh ground pepper!

Don't bother if you're a vegetarian. I had lunch today, Wednesday Dec 7, and was very disappointed at the choices they offered for vegetarians!!
I ordered the "roasted vegetable soup" what I had pictured was a hearty bowl of roasted vegetables in a broth, what I received was basically a thick tomato soup!
I have been invited for dinner there next week, and I am going to cancel my invitation!!!
Would not recommend it

Disappointed. Arrived to a packed restaurant on Saturday night. First impression, very noisy. At 8pm they were out of the appetizer I ordered and out of the entrees my friends had chosen. Appetizers came and the Tuna was delicious. My friends loved the crab cakes but the portion size was very small. It was a very long wait for the entree. They arrived cold. One scallop and a miniscule piece of trout, very poor value. The maitake mushroom in red curry with ginger lime beets and wilted arrugala with risotto. Hmm....no curry in the six mushrooms, no lime or ginger in the beet, 3 spriggs of greasy wilted arugala hidden under a deep fried very very greasey risotto cake. Bummer. Desert, chocolate hazelnut torte. Huh? tasted like a hazelnutless brownie. Bill for two $133 +tip. Wouldn't have a redo.

Great experience. Visited The Springs last night as part of a party of 6. The restaurant was full however, our table was waiting for us. Dinner was great, service was excellent considering how busy they were and how new the restaurant is. The server did a great job and the chef came to the table as well to ask about our meal and how we heard about them. All in all a great experience. Judging by how full the parking lot was, I suspect they will do very well. Nice addition to this neighbourhood.

Outstanding!!!!! The food was absolutely amazing! My husband and I popped in for lunch. Welcomed by a friendly hostess. Drink orders were taken immediately. Excellent choice of wines. My husband had the burger with frittes and soup and I had the maple chicken sandwich. Where do I begin??The chicken was beautifully flavored with thyme an a bacon aioli on a soft warm focaccia bun with summer fresh tomatoes. My husband says the burger was second only to mine, which is his marital obligation but I think he preferred the springs burger. The meat is triple ground in house which distributes the fat content perfectly! Frittes were hot and crispy and the mushroom soup was superb! Thank you chef Andy! You have outdone yourself with the lunch menu. Can't wait to come for dinner!

Wonderful First Experience. With great anticipation we went to the Springs on a Tuesday about 6:00 p.m. We were greeted very warmly and seated immediately. Drinks were offered about three minutes after we were seated. Delicious artisan buns brought out, wish I had asked if they were baked in-house or brought in, very tasty. Decor very tasteful and open concept, warm yet modern. Great selection of wines and imported beers. I tried the seared tuna and my partner tried the escargots. Both very, very good dishes that I would not hesitate to try again.

Servers were all very attentive, and, contrary to a previous review, we didn't find a rude attitude from any of the staff. Main dishes we tried were the scallops, which were absolutely delicious with a touch of smoked tuna and a wonderful risotto cake. My partner had the steak which was done exactly to his liking, was visually pleasing and well enjoyed. The greens accompanying the dishes where fresh and delicious. The chef visited the table to introduce himself, and was very charming. All in all our experience was positive and we will definitely be back.

As we were leaving there were a few tables that appeared to have been waiting a bit longer than we did, perhaps due to the increased diner load since we had arrived. They have only been open two weeks so hopefully people will give them a bit of slack for what, to me, seems to be a place with alot of potential.

Nice to have a place where parking is readily available for very good cuisine.

Where do I begin?. When we arrived at our reserved time, we were told that our table was not ready and that we should wait at the bar. We ordered a drink (they got the drink wrong) and they seated us at our table about 15 minutes later.
Once seated, we were handed menus and then waited for an extra long time to order. We ordered and then sat for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, and about an hour after we arrived at the restaurant, we were served bread.
Our appetizers came out and they were good but overpriced (and somewhat underportioned). Then, after waiting for what seemed like another eternity, the rude server told us that our food would be out in about 5 minutes because the table of 8 sitting next to us had placed their order and "slammed" the kitchen.
We ordered the chicken, lamb and steak. Although nicely presented, the steak was inedible. We had a lot of trouble just cutting through it to taste. We called the server over and sent it back. At the same time, we asked her what could be prepared quickly, so that our daughter could eat at the same time as we did. She grabbed the steak and hurried into the kitchen. We thought she would quickly come back with a menu or present choices to my daughter so that my daughter could choose a new meal. Instead, she came back, placed an order of pork tenderloin in front of my daughter and walked off. It is a good thing that my daughter liked pork because she had no choice in the matter! Fortunately, this dish was very tasty.
When asked if we wanted anything else, my husband ordered a double espresso and the server didn't even tell us about any of their dessert offerings. She brought the espresso and although my husband specified a DOUBLE espresso, she brought him a single!
When it came time to get the bill, the charge for the steak that was never eaten was still listed.
All in all, a very loud restaurant that needs a LOT of work. Our server was inexperienced and the kitchen will need to definitely work on its timing and finding the right cut of meat to serve. Although the owners were very apologetic for all of the mishaps, it's not going to cut it in this industry and especially in this economy. You have only one chance to make a good first impression and The Springs restaurant certainly missed the boat on our dining experience.
We will not return any time soon.

Overall the food was good, but it was just missing the wow factor that I was expecting. The flavours were predictable, the meals lacked cohesion and the plating was boring.
