We’ve come to soooo appreciate the staff here. The servers are always friendly, accommodating and attentive. They make the experience so great. The corner patio our favourite London spot - a great place to watch the light Wortley Village traffic of walkers, and bicycles.
Had an awesome evening tonight with friends. Service was great, had lots of laughs with the servers and food was delicious. Desserts were decadent! Thanks for a relaxing, fun evening😀
On a lovely London evening we stopped into Sweet Onion Bistro's patio for a light dinner and glass of Pinot. Our greek salad was delicious and the wine was lovely. What a wonderful way to end a perfect day in Wortley Village. Definitely stop in...you will love it.
Went here for lunch maybe a month ago. Had the veggie burger and was good. Came back tonight on a date and I had the roasted garlic with brie and the arancini balls. She had the minted lamb burger with fries. The brie on toasted baguette with roasted garlic was good, could have been a bit more melted. They didn't have spicy jam but the waiter brought some peach jam they had, as well as a savoury hot sauce. The hot sauce was amazing with the brie! Ask for that on the side to try if you order the brie. The arancini balls were okay - I've had better, but you get 3 and there's a bit of sauce and a small piece of feta, I think, on top of each ball. Probably wouldn't order again. She liked the lamb burger though asked for no onions and still got them.
Good selection of beers for only having about 8 on tap, including Grimbergen Dubbel & Kronenburg 1664, 2 of my faves.
We started out on the patio at the fire but got cold and moved inside. Waiter changed the tablecloth for us and was very nice and helpful. Spent about 20 minutes at the end talking to the owner about the place, the neighbourhood, etc. Turns out we have a mutual acquaintance (as all Greeks know each other - confirmed haha). If they had stools at the bar, I'd be there more often in the summer! Live music will be outside Wed/Thurs/Sun. Go and check it out, worth it once at least.
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant for the first time last week. Absolutely loved the entire experience. The food quality is amazing and very reasonably priced! The food was even more incredible- especially the calamari, and the portion sizes were perfect! Definitely walked out satisfied with the food and service. We will most definitely be returning again on a regular basis.
After a disaster of a day we decided to go for a date night. The sweet onion was elegantly casual. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and more than happy to answer your questions. The chef is also more than willing to come out and talk to you. The meals presentation was fabulous very Avant garde. everything was done perfectly, my steak was cooked perfectly rare. The entire experience was just an amazing way to end a dreadful day. Thank you and we will most definitely be returning.
Excellent atmosphere, even better food. I visited the sweet onion for the first time a few months ago and fell in love with the food and staff immediately. Our server was a Habs fan named Tyler. He was very friendly, accommodating and he knew the menu like the back of his hand. He was able to answer questions without missing a beat, maintained a calm/cool demeanour and seemed deeply invested in our satisfaction, despite how busy the place was.
As far as the food is concerned I can honestly say that I've never had a bad experience. I'm always super impressed with my meal. Notable favourite dishes would be the greek poutine (if you visit the sweet onion this is a must), the Montreal smoked meat sandwich (sounds simple, but it's by far the best I've ever had), the lamb and no meal would be complete without an order of Saganaki.
If you live in the area, or are just passing through and have time for a meal and a drink I urge you to stop in at the sweet onion. You won't regret it.
EXCELLENT ADDITION TO VILLAGE. Just returned from our first visit -- and it won't be our last! Salads, soups, entrees were all amazing. The greek salad was so fresh and light and the French onion soup was the best we have had in years. I would highly recommend the chicken pita. The fish and chips were perfect. To top it off the service was bang on! Friendly and helpful :) We will return!
We had a Greek dinner here and it was amazing. On the last Friday of every month, they do a Greek Night featuring live Greek music and a specialty menu with Greek delicacies. We ordered calamari, dip trio, and shareable Pikilia for two (it was huge plate and leftovers were enough to fed two people the next day). Everything was delicious, and being Turkish myself (with a great deal of shared cuisine), it felt like home.
Tried the fried cauliflower, arancini, and grilled cheese gyro (a highlight) with side salad. We also tried seasonal pumpkin and apple pie for dessert, which were just okay. The restaurant had cute decorations for Fall/Thanksgiving.
Service, location, and food quality is good. Areas that could be better is that it is bit pricey for London so value is not the best, and it is quite drafty inside. Would return in the summer to try out the patio.

We made it just in time for the last hot chocolate. Sweet staff. Friendly atmosphere. Had a good time at their Christmas event can't wait to see what's next.
From the moment we sat down on the patio out front, we were treated to attentive friendly service and live music.
We started off with Saganaki, which was delicious. We then enjoyed saganaki grilled cheese, the classic burger, and their gyro in a pita.
As I enjoyed my meal, I realized that a lot of the patrons were making an evening out of their visit, and for good reason. Oh , you can also bring your dog along!
We left 2 hours ago and still comfortably full. The Sweet Onion Bistro was an opulent, sophisticated dining experience we wont forget. Helen, our hostess was intelligent, articulate and professional. Helen was very attentive to all tables and no one went without or had to wait. The beer batter fish and chips and Ruben were our featured meals. We finished with a generous piece of Chocolate Ganache which was prepare by Nikki..Master Chef/Manger apprentisian extraordinaire. The photo I took gives a good idea on how thick, rich and decadent this masterpiece is and the scoring of pure dark semi sweet chocolate really is to die for. The restrooms are emaculate...you know I must have cleanliness..MUST HAVE! The Sweet Onion Bistro is family friendly with high chairs and kids menu. Sit by the fire place and warm up. Reservations are also accepted, so you know that lunch spot is yours forsure and opens at high noon. Helen's service and Mz Nikki's artistian touch preparing our Ganache was a highlight of our visit..im sure chef Ramsey would have been proud. My friend Jane and I will make the Sweet Onion Bistro our intimate get away spot for regal dining from now on. Luv Malcom💪😎💚Stay strong London.
Great place! The chicken on a pita with Greek salad and fresh cut fries was amazing. One can really tell the difference in the taste of their fresh cut fries compared to frozen ones at other restaurants. We'll be back for sure!
The food was great! Came here for my girlfriends birthday with her family. The only downside is that they weren't prepared for the number of people that were there, only had 1 person serving the whole place. Maybe better planning on who does the scheduling, but the server did to really really great! Hats off to her! I didn't get her name, but she was working Thursday November 16th, 2023 for close
Went to Sweet Onion 🧅 today for the first time for a quick solo lunch and really enjoyed the tuna melt. Server Gabriella was friendly and efficient. The ambiance inside could be better but the service was phenomenal. I will definitely return in the summer for a bite to eat on that patio!
Such a delightful experience! My friend and I dined at the Sweet Onion Bistro on the recommendation of my hair stylist who works in the area. It was a wonderful day so we sat on the patio and it was beautiful and very comfortable. It was also a delightful surprise to know that pets were welcome. We got to meet a few new furry friends and their people while we had our meal.
The food was delicious and there was so much to choose from. Watching the other diners get their meals before us was so much fun and gave us ideas for another time. Both my companion and I had burgers and they were homemade, abundantly topped and absolutely delicious. My friend had the garden salad and I had sweet potato fries.
All the staff that we encountered were warm and friendly. They were happy to help you with anything and nothing was too big of a request. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Sweet Onion Bistro and are looking forward to our next visit.
Came here today with my partner and my mom for Thanksgiving. Wow. Great from beginning to end!
I’ve been here before but only sat on patio never sat inside, tonight was first time inside, smaller dining room but seemed they could accommodate everyone with no problems at all!
Alex was our server, fantastic! So bubbly and welcoming, excellent rapport with us!
She went over specials and thankfully they were even offering a thanksgiving dinner plate, my boyfriend was very happy about that haha!
We had bruschetta, delicious, and fish and chips delicious! She did two bite checks, bussed table in a perfect timely matter and offered refills when needed. She’s 5 star!
My mom drove all the way here from Brampton and we took a shot at this place and very happy we did.
Thank you so much for one of the best experiences we’ve had at a restaurant in a very long time!
Will definitely be back! Alex deserves a drink or dessert on the house!
:)
A nice restaurant in the heart of Wortley Village. I went on Greek night. Live music, a beautiful atmosphere and a nice menu to choose from. A fair selection of gluten free food on the menu.
Staff were pleasant and answered any questions that I had.
Worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing experience. It was my first time there. The environment of the restaurant was very welcoming, fun and warm. I loved the food, the ambiance and the live music.
Popped in for lunch. The staff is super attentive, personable and friendly. We had our dog Royce with us and he was treated like a king out on the patio with us. Menu items unique like lamb loaf which was very tasty. We will be back!
A truly unique experience each time. Front of the house staff is always a delight, bringing smiles and laughter to your table, alongside your yummy food and a great selection of craft breweries on tap. Back of the house offers great takes on classics like the vegetarian eggplant parmigiana (they’re great at accommodating dietary restrictions), a chicken & bacon burger that’s to die for, & switching up their “Pasta of the day” to bring you new flavours each visit. They also offer authentic Greek food like the flaming cheese Saganaki, chicken/pork souvlaki, chicken pita which comes with Greek salad, fresh cut fries & housemade tzatziki complementing the pita and many other dishes like the calamari. This locally owned restaurant that’s highly established and well regarded in the Village is a can’t miss if you’re in London, it’s a gem of a place!
