Review Umami Shop - Lethbridge

I really want to like this spot because people always say good things, but I don’t get it? I’ve been disappointed both times I’ve eaten here. The tacos shells were basically tortilla chips they were so crispy and dry - it felt like I had to saw through them just to take a bite… and the service is unfriendly and unreceptive to any constructive criticism or feedback. I’d say save your money and eat somewhere more authentic with better service, prices, and quality.

Pretty horrible experience here, people were friendly but might be the worse "poke bowl" I have had in my life. The dark grain rice was a nice touch, but alot of the toppings were frozen! There was a frozen half avocado inside which was not only super gross texture but likely caused a rumbly in my tumbly if you catch my drift. Also, probably my bad for not reading but who puts overcooked salmon in their poke bowl???? It's essentially just a rice bowl at that point. Surprised they can't source sushi grade raw fish with how many fantastic sushi resturants are around. Gave 1 extra star because the viet sub was aite and the people were nice

Excellent online ordering experience! Umami Shop had curry paste I've been looking for but couldn't find anywhere in Edmonton. I ordered some through their website, along with some candy, chutney, and other cooking supplies from around the world. The shipping was a reasonable cost and it arrived just over a week later. Order was well packaged too, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great experience! I used the chat on the website to find out about an item that was out of stock – they looked around the store for me and found the last bottle and added it to my order! Very easy to communicate with and very nice. Would definitely order again!

I've ordered a few Japanese sodas to Ontario. There were a couple of items were labeled differently and that puzzled me, so we've contacted them and met with a great employee that explained to us the situation. She's very professional and we respect that. I recommend if you're living outside of Alberta, you should order from their site and make sure you read the disclaimer. Many thanks.

I go here often to buy korean snacks and sometimes pick up the pork Bao steamed buns which are filling and very flavourful. Ordering food for take out or eat in always feels uncomfortable as the staff don't seem to have any experience working as cooks. The kitchen is often inefficient and sometimes mess up orders, but the main purpose of the store is the grocery. You can speak to the owners about importing other foods or items you may need. The store can be disorganised and the merchandise is often inconsistent but it is locally owned and the set up is very pleasing. However, worth a visit if you are trying to find asian cookware, snacks, frozen food, or sauces.

Not a good experience. Did an online order, and picked it up later that day. No receipt or invoice provided. Also the lemon I received was mushy like a sponge. Unusable!I emailed asking for a copy of my bill so I could check that everything I paid for was sent. And saying lemon was useless. No reply, no receipt. Customer service=lousy. Won't go back.

We have been making Umami shop a priority stop each and every time we come down to Lethbridge from red deer. This is the first time we have ever been disapointed with quality and quantity of the Bahn mi. We have been coming here since the beginning, what happened? The size and quantity have drastically been reduced for the price. The customer service is always top notch but we did not receive the cutlery sets that we paid for (not that 15 cents is going to break the bank) but it makes it hard to eat ramen and pho without them. Mistakes happen, we are all human, but the response to come and drop cutlery off to us after sending an email, while appreciated ,is not a resolution. We will try again the next time we are down and hopefully these are viewed as learning opportunities

The worst place I have ever eaten. The food tasted horrible and was inedible (we left it). For the value you get way more food at other oriental type restaurants. The server wasn't even going to wipe the table of the sauce and food from previous patrons I had to ask her to wipe it please. That was a mistake cute the server was snotty to us after that. Would never recommend them to anyone nor would I go there to eat again.

You must eat here. Fresh, creative and delicious! Plus, after you eat then go shopping for the best ingredients for your meals at home. Helpful and friendly staff as well. My favourite place in Lethbridge!

I've loved Umami Shop Canada since it opened, and it just keeps getting better and better. We're lucky to have this oasis in the heart of Lethbridge. In addition to offering high quality foods from around the world, their eat-in fresh meals and baked goods are stellar and they bring in the coolest specialty items. To top it off, Patricia and Sven are warm and friendly and their customer service is amazing. My husband and I took a Mexican cooking class there last year, which was excellent and a ton of fun, and tonight we're taking a Thai cooking class - I couldn't be more excited! If you haven't visited Umami yet, you are missing out on such a treat. So many treats!

Was left highly disappointed with the food we received, was not anything like what was advertised, was missing parts, and did not have the extra chicken we ordered, not going here again.

Umami's menu is superb: fresh, flavourful and healthy. It's our new go-to spot when we need a quick meal- the subs are our favourite. And Sunday Brunch is delicious. To top it all off, they have very friendly service!!

Amazing shop - so many new and exotic items to choose from, and for someone interested in cooking...just AWESOME! Their lunch menu is to die for, and I just got gift certificates to take a few cooking classes - can't WAIT! Wish I lived closer, so I could shop/eat more often!

Best lunch spot in town, their lunch features are fresh, unique and full of bold flavours. Love it. Only place in town to get a Vietnamese sub.

Don't Nickel and Dime your customers to death, 10 cents for a paper bag, seriously, Had I thought quick enough I would have left my purchases on the counter and gone elsewhere!

Great selection of product and the best Vietnamese subs in town, hands down.
