Review The Smokehouse Bbq And Bar - Lethbridge

I was told about this place by a friend and quote 'you know that good barbecue place' well he was not wrong, the service was very good (our waitress was fun and informative) and the food itself was great, not the best BBQ I have ever had but the best I have had in a long time (Brisket Ends yo). The sauces were good but I didn't see any need to take any home but I saw other people take bottles to go so. (I liked the Memphis style one personally). I would have liked more coleslaw as there really wasn't enough to even get a good taste but other than that the meal was good. would go again, would recommend.

Came to this place with a buddy. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the Brunswick stew and a beer. The stew was really good as was the beer. Friendly staff and hot food! Prices good too. Too bad it seems like the place isn't that busy, as it's a pretty decent place.

The impression I got was a place that has seen better days but hasn’t given up. The location could use some cosmetic repairs. The food is okay but not particularly great. The portions were somewhat decent, although the tiny cup of coleslaw was adorably insufficient. The pulled pork was nice and tender, if not particularly flavourful. The three kinds of barbecue sauce seemed fairly similar with only minor differences in heat and sweetness. The service was great. Given the price I was expecting more. Compared to the BBQ joints I’ve been to in Calgary this one is definitely sub-par. My biggest recommendation to the owners would be to have a greater variety in barbecue sauces.

We went here for lunch today and were shocked to have the place to ourselves. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was AMAZING! We ordered the steak sandwich with fries and cedar and 1lb of brisket with coleslaw and green beans. It was so good and I didn't want it to end but i did have enough brisket to bring home. The bbq sauces are delicious and fresh. I love that they were chilled. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

The food is good, although the portions for sides seems very small especially at the price charged for extras. The brisket and ribs were good as was the coleslaw. Green beans are great, don't miss them. Wasn't in love with the potato salad. Also, no collard greens on menu. Gotta have collards for an authentic southern BBQ experience. The decor is nice and new, but likely is a holdover from when this was a Chinese restaurant. Not a problem, but it doesn't completely suit the brisket and blues vibe that this place is probably aiming for. Service was up and down. Overly attentive when we were obviously still going through the menu, and then not enough attention when we both ran out of water.

I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. Every single time my family has been here the food has been spectacular, and the service has been great. These guys take celiac and other allergies very serious which means we can enjoy a meal out with peace of mind. I can only assume those who complain about Smokehouse either have no prior knowledge of the type cuisine they are cooking up or they think BPs and Montana's are good food. Keep up the great work guys, we absolutely will be back many times to come.

pros: great brisket, smoked chicken was delicious, the sausage is awesome. cons: pulled pork wasn't pulled and had to be cut with a knife (needs more cooking time) --Potato salad was awful (oily par cooked potato with sauteed mushrooms) that's not potato salad -- coleslaw was so average, not worth ordering as a side -- The restaurant was clean on the surface but the tables have this plasticky laminate that your arms stick to. This place could use a serious renovation. I came in before 6 on a Saturday and saw staff lingering at the bar and no customer in the house, my first impression was this place may not be that good. Service was friendly but I didn't feel there was much knowledge about the product. My server had to come back a couple of times to clarify what I had ordered and when asked if I wanted my ribs wet or dry I said wet and was served dry-rubbed ribs. I ordered the big platter for two had a beer and my wife how to pop our bill came to $80. The value is not quite there but not far off. I would try this again to see if I had a better experience.

A total disappointment. I was a regular here and despite some misses along the way (stale fries and bland burgers), I considered this a very reliable restaurant - 4/5 easy. However, this last experience has guaranteed I will never return. We got a large variety of food and every single piece of meat was extremely dry and under-seasoned. We had ribs, brisket, wings, chicken - some of the meat was so dry it was like a rock- unchewable and bland. I actually cut my gums trying to bite into this. The size of the "meatloaf" (I've seen bigger oranges!) felt like a rip-off as an entree. The "seasonal" vegetables consist of a tin of carrots and 3 (wow! I'm so impressed) tiny florets of soggy, overcooked broccoli. Guess I have to go make dinner now after flushing nearly $200 down the drain. What a waste of beautiful ingredients and everyone's time. I could go on at length, but I'm still hungry, which really says it all.
