Review Souvlaki Bar - Laval

Tella H
The night before I ordered from souvlaki bar, I had the worst experience with Arahova in Laval so I was still craving good Greek food. I was so satisfied with my food delivery. Nothing was disappointing, everything had flavour, spices, freshness and quality. Great tasting food and the calamari were 12/10. Love the little squids it’s the best part. Only recommendation would be to make the souvlaki bar spicy mayo style sauce less sweet. Also lovely tasting cheesecake, really original. Thank you for filling my craving properly!

The service at this place was fantastic, very kind employees. The only reason I give this place 3 stars, is because the chicken didn’t wow me. Very greasy, and can even see a tint of yellow on it because of how much oil they put on the chicken to give it flavour. It was dry, overcooked, and the seasoning wasn’t great. I found the salad to be good, but the dressing was just put on top rather than mixing it. The tomatoes were not yet ripe. The baked greek potatoes were also good, but I find they might be using a tad bit too much olive oil there too as they were entirely coloured in oil. Which makes the plate very fatty and heavy. My rating is based purely on this specific plate, but the experience overall was great!

I took the lentil soup it's was not bad. They put some potatoes and tomatoes. I also took the rasberry slush but I didnt take any picture. It was really good. The salad was very tasty. Staff there were nice :) The only reason I didnt put 5/5 it's because it was expensive.

Great place to eat inside or outside during the season. The have a nice terrace that overlooks the central roundabout which often has little shows or activities. We've been here for so sorts of reasons, parties, group get-togethers, family supper or even date night. They don't disappoint with their very friendly staff. It's GREAT value for the money spent, in a big eater and barely manage to finish their plates! I recommend this place to all those who live Greek food.

Following my previous review the owner took the time to contacted me to discuss the issues pertaining to the last two experiences when ordered for take out. He was obviously very concerned, listened and explained how he manages his restaurant. An amazing person and I'm impressed with how he handled the situation. Will definitely return and recommend this restaurant, especially when you eat in, the food is great and the staff are efficient and friendly. KUDOS to the owner!

Overall I like it, good place in Centropolis. Compared to a lot of other grec restaurant, this place has a few unique things that are nice, lots of unique fries options to choose from, salad dressing is good and different too, and the meat usually always very nicely grilled. That being said, this is not my favorite grec food place in Laval and also it is a little expensive, so I had to give it 3 stars for these reasons.

Amazing food, really outshines other Greek restaurants I've been to. The meats were fresh and not dry at all. The portions are also very generous. Amazing waiter too, all in all 5/5!

Food was great but the pita for soulakis is too thick. Prefer thinner pitas. Felt stuffed after my meal because of the pirate bread. But overall very nice restaurant & good food. Nice ambiance. Just change the pirate bread.

I really enjoy the food and the service. Always fantastic. Going out here doesn’t break the bank either. Food is always very fresh and staff welcome any changes or additions we make to our meals. Staff is also attentive to details and very friendly. We really enjoy going to souvlaki bar for dinner!

Calmars frits servis tièdes/Mon amie a dû demander un autre verre de boisson gazeuse, car son breuvage était "flat".

Please review your policy on Terrasse accommodations. Being refused a table of 4 adults and 4 children sitting together By your host/Manager on a perfectly quiet and empty terrace at the time. But a table of 6 was perfectly acceptable.. This is very laughable! Centropolis Laval Saturday June 2nd Table #310 Bill payed 13:14pm. Sorry but you lost me and my family as customers. Too bad we have visited your locations many times.

This place is very popular. Its located in the heart of centropolis. We had a bottle of wine, calamaris which were good and souvlakis chicken. Its ok but its a bit over priced maybe cause of the location?

Great concept ! Delicious and great ambiance. I would recommend it for anyone who not only loves Greek food, but having a good time as well.

Decent greek food, a little too salty for my taste. The shovel with different meats is pretty good to share with someone, and provides more than enough meat for several pitas for 2 people. Ambience is nice and well decorated, service was friendly and quick, and we were a big group. May go back to try something different.

It was great to see a modern, beautifully decorated casual Greek restaurant. Something both Montreal and Laval have long been missing. Unfortunately, besides the look of this restaurant, Souvlaki Bar was a major disappointment. Upon arriving the hostess seemed to be confused and lost, and you automatically felt that the staff was all over the place bought physically and mentally, which made for an uneasy welcome. Once seated at the bar, we were greeted by a very charismatic bar tender, she was the best part of our experience. To start we ordered a beer and a glass of house wine, both of which were obviously watered down. We then got gyros, which were nothing special at all. The tomatoes were soggy, the potato portions were scarce and the meal felt like bad mall food. Perhaps we should of opted for the meat shovels. All in all don't be fooled by the ambience, spend your money elsewhere.

Excellent restaurant! Great food at amazing prices compared to all the other over-priced restaurants in the Centropolis, Laval area. You get a modern Greek vibe with awesome Mythos beer that I had when I was in Greece - brought back great memories!! Service was fantastic and it's a great spot for events!!

I had to write this review because this restaurant was, hands-down, the worst experience I have ever had.

Firstly, when calling for a reservation for 6 people, we were refused on the basis that 6 was too large a group and that by showing up at 6:45 pm we would be "seated in 30 minutes no problem". We arrived at that time. We were assured a 30-45 minute wait. We ended up waiting 2 hours (by then it was too late to find another restaurant so we stuck it out on the promise of "excellent service").

After being seated, the manager came to apologize for the wait, citing the previous party who had allegedly paid 1 hour ago and sat around until the waitress told them to leave. He offered us a round of drinks on the house. We were optimistic.

The super enthusiastic waitress took our meal order while chatting us up. She was unable to explain items on the menu, telling one of us to "just read the menu it's all explained". She came back to get the drink order 5 minutes later (after, and I am assuming, her manager reminded her of our free drinks). This was at 9:10. By this time we have asked twice for water for the table.

The food arrived 35 minutes later. Out of 6 dishes, 4 orders are wrong. Out of the 4 corrections, 2 are still wrong when the food is served again. No water. No drinks. No beverages at all. Finally at 9:35 the drinks arrive. They are disgusting, too strong. I tell the waitress that it is too strong. She offers to switch the drink, explaining that the normal bartender is pregnant and fell down the stairs so she had to leave work. I find this is a ridiculous excuse and turn to see their replacement bartender chugging beers (out in the open for all to see). The second drink never arrives. When asked, the waitress tell me, "the bartender says he'll get around to it because someone stole the ones her made me 5 minutes ago". The water doesn't arrive until one of our party asks the waitress to please give her water lest she go get it herself.

The bills arrive at the table. They have charged me for the diet coke which I never received as well as the second drink, also never received. The waitress seems confused when I ask her to please remove these from my tab. She even asked me if I was "100% sure" I never got the drinks. I remind her that there is no bus boy so only she could have brought it to me, which she didn't. She replies "whatever i'll remove the charge". Having had enough, I decide to write a note on the back of my bill to give to the manager. The waitress says the manager has left (at 10 pm on a Saturday) and that the assistant manager, a gentleman who had been having dinner at the adjacent table, is the only person who has any authority. On my way out, I hand him my bill, he reads it and laughs. He proceeds in showing his staff what I have wrote and they all laugh.

This is the first time I've ever written a review for a restaurant and hopefully the last. If you're thinking of going to Souvlaki bar, you will probably get good food (because the food, when it finally arrived, was good), but the service is so sub-par and unprofessional that you should adjust your expectations (and by adjust I mean don't have any). Or do what I'll do in the future when I'm in the mood for greek food: go to Marathon instead.

Final verdict: Epic fail.
