Review Kostas Greek Restaurant - Langley City

Great food especially the Calamari

After a long day of travel and Geocaching, I decided I wanted some Greek food. I’m out in the Langley area, so I stopped in today. It was very quiet for Monday night we were seated in between a Toronto fire fighter and his wife and a first date behind us. Service was impeccable, the food was flavorful, and the atmosphere was very Greek.

We've terribly missed our go-to Greek place since moving to our current neighborhood. Super happy to have found Kostas! First time ordering through delivery service. The Hellenic platter for two (with roast lamb, chicken and beef souvlaki, potatoes, rice, Greek salad, tzasziki, pita bread, dolamdes, a full size of calamari and bougatsa) could easily serve 4. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was great. We loved the lamb and calamari. The calamari was slightly underseasoned for our taste but the perfectly balanced tzasziki made up for it. The skewered chicken and beef weren't bad considered it was delivered and we ate more than half hour after delivery. The bougatsa was a bit underwhelming, I think they might have missed a cream/sauce topping. Can't wait to visit the restaurant and try other items on the menu.

We had such a lovely dinner there! The food was amazing, the portions were great and they even brought two cakes for my dad and I as we were celebrating our joint birthdays. Highly recommended! The service was also fantastic and they really went above and beyond for us.

Such amazing, friendly service! Five stars for our waitress who spoke with genuine kindness and made our dining experience wonderful. We had the platter for two. Calamari was great and lamb was so tender, fell right off the bone. If you're craving Greek food, this is the place to go!

Tried this restaurant for the first time. Ordered dinner special chicken souvlaki for 2(take out). I have to say that it tastes amazing- chicken was perfectly cooked with lots of flavors. I also appreciate the quantity of rice provided. All in all, great value for your money and great taste!

It may be Mother's Day but don't set unrealistic expectations. Shut your delivery service down for the day like your competitors did. Wait time online was 50 minutes. After placing order it said 80 minutes which is totally fine considering it's Mother's Day. It has now been 2 hours and 20 minutes since order was placed and still no sign of food. Only positive is the delivery driver is trying to keep me informed. Phone is shut down so you can't even call in. Pathetic service and brutal that you can't even answer your phone and assure a customer that just spent $105 that they will get their order or that you even care about their order.

Pretty great Greek food! Nice entertainment on the dance floor! Staff are super kind but the manager is quite rude. Overall recommend to come!

To be honest the food was nothing short of amazing. I had the mixed Slovaki and my bf has the calamari dinner. Everything from the rice, potatoes and meat were just exceptional. My issue with this place was the manager (with the short hair). I called beforehand asking if they could take a table for two (it was family day weekend). The lady on the phone said no problem. We got there, could see it was busy so we waited, our server said she just needed to clear the table for us. Ok no problem but then this Caucasian man comes in asking for a table for four and the manager says oh no problem. And starts clearing a table for them. I stood up and mentioned to the manager that we were here before them and she said “ya ok” ignored us and continued to set the table up for the four people. 3/4 of the four just waited and said “no you guys were here first and clearly somebody needs to keep the order of the world going”. The lady couldn’t have been blind but maybe didn’t like the colour of our skin. There was no reason to ignore us and nor did she come by to apologize. Shit like that pisses me off. You run a business lady. So take our money and just run your business with good customer service. Again the food and the servers were great but this manger needs to get some training and understand business is business. If you’re racist. Stay at home!

This place is amazing I have been coming here for over 5 years there food is always awesome.I recommend ordering the chicken suvalagi with roasted patatos great service and awesome live entertainment

Pleasant staff, decent food, and good ambience. Portions are tad bit smaller than my usual Greek spots...as pointed out by other reviewers as well.

It's really hard to believe that we were treated as poorly as we were. We called for delevery and was quoted 45 to 55 minutes. When it was nearing an hour and a half we called and wasn't given any explanation but "we are busy", and then the lady on the phone hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager. The manager refused to talk to me and the same lady hung up on me again. We ended going to McDonalds instead. While we were at McDonalds we got a call from the delivery driver that didn't seem to care that we waited so long that we went to eat elsewhere. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I have had great service and even better food every time I have been to Kostas. Their lasagna and their chicken souvlaki are favourites. The entertainment makes it a great place to go with friends.  I appreciate the attitude and helpful suggestions of the staff.  It is my favourite place for Greek food in Langley.  I'm going back tomorrow night!

Very good service. Great Pita bread soft, crispy and hot. very generous amount. Would love to go back when there's a show on. Great souvlaki dishes. Roast lamb was mediocre. Would definitely go back.

I have never been here, nor will I because I am not into Greek food. I am just not impressed that I get emails in my inbox for a place I have never been to nor will ever. Sorry.

We came here with a large group recently for dinner. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals and the service was very accommodating and courteous. The portions were generous but not huge, as the emphasis seems to be on quality, not just quantity. We look forward to our next visit!

Maybe an off night?. We've frequented Kostas over the years. It's kind of our "go to" restaurant for Greek food. In the past we've enjoyed our visits but last night, we were quite disappointed. I'm hoping it was just an off night for them. Just as an FYI: my husband is Greek-Canadian and we've both travelled to Greece a number of times. <br/>1. Pre dinner - we were seated after a 10-15 minute wait. Our waitress was attentive without being overly attentive but never asked how our food was. She served us our wine soon after our order and provided us with small Greek salads and pita bread. <br/>2. Appetizers - From the time of our order, it took 45mins for our appetizers to arrive. We ordered calamari which was lukewarm. The batter was overly crumbly. We also ordered tiropita (feta cheese pie). This is one of my husband's favourite dishes and we assumed since it was on the menu that it would be made in house. When it arrived, it was obvious to us both that it was a Krinos product and not made on site.<br/>3. Dinner - my husband ordered moussaka. We know that it's a time consuming dish and realize that it is typically prepared well ahead of time. Unfortunately, the middle of the dish was cold to the touch. They need to rethink their method of reheating dishes. I ordered the chicken souvlaki. It was good but could have been better seasoned. <br/><br/>Overall it was a very mediocre dining experience. We'll probably give them one more try and hopefully they'll redeem themselves. If not, we'll have to look for another Greek restaurant to frequent.

Great Place! Awesome service! Loved the platter as we got to try a little bit of everything. The cheesecake with blueberries was delish! And you can tell everything is made from scratch.

I've been here for many years and love their food.. Until now. I ordered the steak medium well with garlic prawns. It was well done, cooked through out. When I told the waittress, she took the plate back, came out and said the cooks said it is medium well.. I told her I've eaten steaks many times and that it was dry yet her excuse was that there's only three chefs and they can't make another one. And if I wanted to eat just the potatoes and vegetables. Worst experience, they didn't even try to apologise or make up for it. They've lost a long term customer.

Worth the drive. It isn't in my neighborhood, but I will drive the extra way to come here. Good food, good service, good prices, good location.<br/>Service is always attentive, portions are huge, quality all the way! I can't think of anything negative to say about this place. My only problem is choosing what I want to eat!

Their calamari is my favorite...I haven't found a restaurant that makes calamari better.

Good greek food, good portions. My husband and I visiting this restaurant on regular basis since 2004, when we moved to Langley. Food is always fresh and tasty. The Chicken souvlaki are the best. My husband is in love with their Roasted Lamb shoulder.Like every other family run business - the owner lady is always in the front of the house to help customers. Sometimes the place is packed, sometimes is just a normal dinner crowd. Service is good . They always serve first the salad and bread and if you ask, the server will bring you tzatziki. Otherwise the tzatziki are served with your meal. We like to change sometimes and have it with pita, other time we like to dip our pita in salad dressing. We notice that the restaurant cut already on salt, as requested by government. For me plenty salty my husband uses the salt from the table .<br/>Each time I try something sweet, portion of desserts are big, and all HOME made. It is so nice compare to all those commercial "goodies" served everywhere else.It is well run place as we know for more than 10 years. We will recommended it to anybody. Cheers.

Eat a lot of Greek and can't understand how they are voted number one. Very small portions lacking in flavor

Bad customer service small portions. I ordered two take out souvlakis for dinner tonight and had a horrible surprise. I was eating a bite of rice and bit down on a piece of something hard, as I chewed it broke into pieces and my bf could hear it crunch beside me. I spit everything out and there was hard bits in it. I am horrified! I dented a filling. I called the restaurant and the stupid old lady told me that they don't have glass in the kitchen. Come on! It was most likely a pice of dinnerware that fell in. She didn't even apologize!!!!<br/><br/><br/>Save your teeth! Dont go there!

Good take out. Cant stand the ugly decor, but we always like there take out.

Kostas is OK. Free delivery is good.. Kostas is OK. The food is inexpensive and tasty and they have free delivery. The chicken souvlaki and roast potatoes are not as good as at Galini and the Greek salad leaves something to be desired.

Fishy tasting ribs and poor service. Langley Advance news paper only says they are voted number 1 because Kosta's advertises alot with them. Gross

Kostas is a decent Greek restaurant considering it's location. BUT I live in East Van and I'm used to getting a lot of bang for my buck when I go for Greek food, a la Stepho's or Taki's. The portions at Kostas were noticeably smaller than I'm used to, and it was also a little more expensive. Still though, the quality of the food was alright and come on, it's Langley. Service was a little on the slow side, but not terribly so.

Great Food, Horrible service!. My family and I have a tradition of going for greek for birthdays. We've been to Kostas a handful of times and only return because the food is good. But it seems that even that is lacking these days. The service is horrible. I went with a group of 7 for my birthday and didn't even get acknowledged once we sat down for 25 minutes, no exaggeration! I was astounded at the rudeness that was thrown back at me when I had to walk up to the workers and ask if we were going to be served or if they were just going to continue to ignore us. We nearly left but decided not to since it was already too late to find another restaurant at 830 at night. (Not to mention starved) Food arrived late and somewhat cold and wasn't as good as b4. When we asked for a discount due to all that had happened (and not happened) it was as tho we were asking for they're left kidney! Not a place we will ever return to.

Better than most.... Typical Greek restaurant; family run, blue and white interior but their food is consistently above average. Service is a bit slow but I've never been unhappy here. Can't say that of the other greek restarants I've tried in Langley.
