Was my wife's idea that we go n try it while we were going shopping in Langley. There was a small line up but it was worth it. Tim had the clubhouse and the wife had a turkey sandwich and I had tried the Hilltop breakfast. It was huge with 3 eggs, farmers sausage and real potatoes hash browns and toast. We were going to try a piece of pie for dessert but could not decide which one to have. It was between the Apple raspberry or flapper. We had choose the Apple but the waitress/owner also bought over a piece of flapper for us to try. Tim also brought 2 bottles of their hot sauce which is made in Vernon BC. The meals are huge and worth the money and the service was excellent.
Stopped by on a whim yesterday, the burger was the messiest burger I have ever eaten. But I wouldn’t have changed a thing! It was the best burger I have ever eaten, and can’t wait to go back. The staff were awesome, the atmosphere was very cool, and the food was amazing.
Good food super friendly service; busy; a must check out place
We discovered this place because patrons trying to get in their parking lot were causing a traffic jam. We were hungry so we joined the line up. Actually we got a table within 10 minutes. This is a small vintage diner with formica tables. While everyone around us ordered burgers, we ordered sausage patti and eggs. I am used to patties with more fat and sage, but the patti has a home made quality to them. On the menu though, they offer two special burgers call “Mountain” and “Everest”, 10oz and 15oz, stacked over 5” and taller. The sign outside mentioned pies and they had all sorts of them, all home made. The pie list is hand written and changes according to what is still available. I would definitely want to stop by for pie again!!!
Quaint little diner that screams vintage inside and out - authentic and welcoming atmosphere.
The food is simple and honest. The portions are well worth the price of the meal.
They are known for their pies, but not having a sweetooth, their brunch menu is what draws us in.
Friendly staff and great service - considering how busy they are.
We will definitely come back to try their famous pies!

So back in the late 1940's my Grandfather and his family lived in Newton and his oldest son (my uncle) and his family moved to Sumas Prairie. My grandfather and his family would make the drive to my Uncle's place but this was long before Highway One and so Fraser Hwy was the main route. Halfway along that long journey stood the Hilltop Diner and it became their stopping place for coffee and sometimes pie! In the mid 1980's, the crew that I worked with would often stop for breakfast at the Hilltop. This must have been several owners into the life of the diner but I remember that it was the best deal and our favorite stop. I have not been since that time and since the place has become the celebrity stop that it is now. Saturday morning my partner and I arrived at 8:15 am and found the place already jumping. We ordered breakfast and enjoyed the memorabilia and some very good coffee. Those coffee cups were never allowed to come even close to being empty. For a guy who is getting used to Hong Kong style cafe service, this was almost startling! The Apple Fritter Sandwich is a brilliant combination of sweet and salty and came with a huge pile of fried on the flat top rustic style hash browns. Excellent! We also enjoyed a half order of the Grilled Tomato Benny but to be honest, it needed something. Fortunately, we also ordered a side of bacon! That did the trick. On another visit, I sat at the counter and enjoyed a cheeseburger and fries. I had the fries as chili cheese fries which were great. The burger itself had the perfect flat top sear on it and the whole experience was again wonderful. Not cheap but well worth what you pay. Why waste money on fast food when you can have an experience and be treated like family!
Simple food at good prices. The pie is what most people come for and it will not disappoint. The other food is solid but nothing special. They deliver on what you expect when you go to a diner.

Hilltop Diner Cafe is a small diner located in Langley, BC. On our way to Othello Tunnels, we made a pit stop here for breakfast. This place is very busy, so expect a wait when you arrive. The diner has some cool signs, actor signatures and photographs around the entire diner, so you’ll have plenty to look at as you wait for your food.
Hilltop Diner has been around for the past 68 years in Langley. Family-owned and has been serving diner classics to all their customers. Sherman has told me several times to go here and finally, after all those year, I finally went with a few friends. They have have been feature on You Gotta Eat here and also, a few celebrities have made visits here too.
This summer I am making a point of exploring some of the classic eateries in Metro Vancouver. First was the Ovaltine Cafe, and now I can say that I have also visited another classic, the Hilltop Diner in Langley.
I can also say that although it felt like I was on a very long day trip to get out...
This place blew my expectations out of the water. What seems to be a quaint little diner on the side of the street turns out to be much more. Diner has an incredibly vast selection of tasty sounding morsels that make it difficult to decide what to order. I went with the chili cheese burger with a side of fries. My burger was abnormally massive with chili dominating the burger. Never had I before have to eat a burger with a knife and fork. Though this burger was delicious, it alone does not earn it my 4.5 rating. Hilltop's pies are what make it truly shine. I ordered the chocolate brownie pie which was very smooth and not overly sweet. I wish to return to Hilltop Diner Cafe soon to try a breakfast item accompanied by a new pie.

In a world where change is continuous and inevitable, the Hilltop Diner Cafe has withstood the test of time. This Langley diner has been open since the 1940s. It is now owned by 2 sisters who have preserved this local treasure. The Hilltop has been featured on my favourite Canadian food show, You Gotta Eat Here.
