Review Persimmon Tree - Langford

Beef bulgogi bibim bap was good. The bulgogi hotpot was not something I was familiar with (I had never seen this dish when I was living in Korea. The most similar dish would be Dduk bul), but it was great! Lots of veggies with warm sweet soup. Some parts of beef were a bit stringy- but was not a big deal for me. I will try again for sure when I am near.

Best Korean food I’ve had in the Victoria area. Excellent service and my meal was out fast. Loved that my rice dish was served in a traditional cast iron bowl which was piping hot to give my rice some crunch on the outside of each grain. Wish it was closer to downtown, but worth the trek out to Millstream.

Food was great korean and some served in cast iron dishes with wood blocks. Serving staff was very friendly our server was very sweet. English not their first language but that doesn't matter. They were having a good time talking to other staff members when behind the counter. Atmosphere is a simple place and a bit bare but clean and spacious for groups of 4 to 6. Will come back :)

Update on June 8th: Finally got a chance to dine in. The service was amazingly friendly, and had more option than online menu or delivery app. Also the store inside was nice and bright, had a large table in the middle that can accommodate more than 6 people. ========================== I've been trying to order their food on skip, but their hours of operation on skip are very inconsistent. I was addicted to ordering their pork soft tofu soup, salty and spicy with a hint of sweetness, the best dish in my opinion. But after the pandemic, I think they cut the portion. The savoury seafood pancake tastes good too, and the waiter is very attentive to mark the sauce. However, there is not much seafood in it, and most of the pancakes are chives. Have ordered bibimbap too, amazing taste, hope to try it again next time I see them open on skip.

The waitress is the best!!! A good recommendation, a great chefs cuisine and a lot of love on the recipes. I love it. 💕 Thank you so much. Spicy and good.

I’m rounding this one up to a 5, because the meal was excellent, but I think this is more of a 4.5. The food was great. It was our first time here so we tried a few things. The fried dumplings were exactly what you’d expect, crispy, flavourful and hot. The Bulgogi Bibim Bab was easily the highlight, wonderful flavours throughout the entire dish. Will be returning just for that. The short ribs were solid, but quite pricey at $36 for the meal. Crème brûlée was fantastic. Tried Korean beer (Cass) and Soju for the first time, quite enjoyed both. The only thing keeping this spot from a true 5 in my mind was the ambience. Bright and white lights, my nightmare at a dinner spot lol. Disposable, take out chopsticks are a little disappointing when you’re eating a $40 entree. Thankfully these are pretty easily fixable problems. Service was great, our server was very friendly. Will be returning for the food absolutely, but hopefully they take some steps to add some more ambience into the room. Will see you again!

Fabulous modern Korean restaurant served my east Asian food crave. First visit and at lunch time from how quick the place gets packed up tells me it’s a popular place for locals. Family and children are welcome with child seats available. There are booths and center tables. Ample natural light with friendly waitresses, and the owner is a wonderful and kind lady. I ordered veggie bibimbap and jasmine tea. For lunch it came with a bowl of soup. The bibimbap is delicious and you may add however amount of spicy red sauce. A slight disappointment but this may be for safety concern is that the stone pot isn’t hot enough to harden up the rice. Overall, pretty satisfied and will definitely return for more.

I ordered stir fried yam noodle. It came in a generous portion. The dish was pretty decent. The price was also quite reasonable. The service was great. The waitress was all smiling and cheerful, she really made our dining experience very pleasant.
