Review Nova Era Bakery - Kitchener

I was really excited to try the savoury finger food items from this Bakery so went here for Brunch. The savoury items that we tried this time - Chicken Balls; Cod Fish Rolls; Spinach Feta Lattice Danish & Cheese Croissant were very cold so didn’t taste as great as expected. The taste would have been so much better if they had heated up these items before serving. They staff was definitely running around a lot as they were very busy and did not offer to heat up our food. I’d definitely recommend to get a takeout and heat the savoury items at home to enjoy. I’ve tried their desserts before and they are pretty good.

The place is always bustling which is a good sign that the food is good. The food is good and the only complaint would be that it wasn't heated before being served. Coffee was good as well. They have a lot of options for bakery items and most are very good, would definitely recommend.

This place😍 for me.... Was like being in a candy store.. but better. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS 😍 I loved the assortment of desserts on display- really makes you want to buy one of everything! I got 2 cakes from there for a 79th Bornday. The cheesecake was ammmaaazingggg😍😍. I got a chocolate pineapple cake and it was a little too sweet but it was still so good. It got my attention right away because it was different. I like that they are willing to experiment w different flavours. I am definitely excited to return to this place for my next cakes😍🔥🥰

My daughter and son in law chose this wonderful cake for their wedding cake. It was so absolutely delicious! All of the guests commented on it in a most positive way. Thanks for making my family’s special day all that more amazing!!

Always excellent baked goods at Nova Era. No better natas to be found anywhere! Giant croissants too. Delish!

A decent chain bakery though there are many other better options in the Tri-Cities. I ordered a portuguese egg tart, an apple turnover, a swiss roll, an eclair and a chocolate croissant. The tart was good, though I prefer the ones from Euro Bakery or Azores. The swiss roll was bland and flavourless. The chocolate croissant was generous and tasty but lacked the desired flakiness. The stand out was the apple turnover that had wonderful lamination and crunch. The eclair had good shou and chocolate on top flavoured with I believe was orange zest but the filling was forgettable.

A bit pricey but the food taste was ok. The almond tart was hard as rock but the custard napkin was delicious. Employees were kind but kinda sucks they don’t have prices on the pastries so you’re not able to see the prices.

They gave us the all messed up cake thinking we will not notice with the tiaras on the top. I know I’m posting a review almost like a month after because i didn’t get the chance on the day and after that. Worst experience

Love this place. They serve delicious sandwiches. I particularly love their chicken salad sandwich in Portuguese bun. Breads are fresh and soft. Another favourite of mine is custard tarts and custard donuts. There is a queue here most of the time but service is quick.

Good place to enjoy with friends in the weekend. They serve lot of good things but Shrimp patty I liked most. You will get variety of pastry here. They serve good coffee too.

GREAT baking, TERRIBLE service.. When waiting in cue to order it is very common to see the counter staff continually take new and additional orders/demands from the chauvinistic old world types and then proceed to make these orders before any other existing orders. Also common, is both staff abandoning the till while theres a line up, to both work on food prep rather than establish an efficient service flow method allowing continuous paced service. We can blame the pushy old ignorant regulars but really, the staff just need to stand up and establish a fair method of tackling busy hours.

The desserts are delicious, but the TERRIBLE service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Every time I come here, the girl at the front is rude. Doesn't say hello, doesn't smile, acts annoyed that you're there, and leaves you waiting until she feels like coming over to take your order. Sweetie, if you hate seeing customer so much, get a different job. When I do go there, I never stay long. Her mood is toxic and I would rather eat my dessert at home with better company. I seriously wonder why anyone would want her as "the face" of their business. Ruins the experience.

Rude service. The food is ok

-----06 Jan, 2014-----

Rude service. The food is ok; I go in occasionally to purchase bread. But the wait staff can be rude. I now only go in if the Golden Hearth bakery across the street is closed

Halloween Wedding Cake. With a quick phone call, an email with some inspiration pictures and what I can only imagine was actual magic, Nova Era created the PERFECT Halloween themed wedding cake. Beautiful, delicious and very reasonably priced!

Bakery?? more like loblaws. I ordered a black forest cake, and I was told when I asked that it was made with real whipped cream. The cake I got was actually a stale iced chocolate cake with a layer of this white fake filling and a few cherries. I could have got a more authentic black forest cake at Costco. At $15 for 8 small slices, it was an overpriced disappointment. But the kicker was, it was not even made there: it was made in Toronto and shipped in! Maybe there are bakers on site, but they weren't baking black forest cake.

Bad service, waited for 10min. before they came to take order , took an other 20 min. for we finally had our coffee, that was luke warm and on top wrong order.of our food

Avoid. Decent pastries and breads, but terrible service. People at the counter are running around like crazy without actually doing anything productive. You have to wait too long for someone to serve you while the employees are taking their sweet time talking to each other. Every single time I've been there, I was frustrated and disappointment with service

Delicious pastries and baked goods, definitely try their little custard tarts.

Nova Era, from what I've been told, is a Portuguese "patisserie" or closest thing to it in these here parts, running with a gamut of pastries from meringues (oh, yes), to cannolis (oddly enough), eclairs, and that ever popular Portuguese dessert: the custard. Though the selection may seem vast, you may be hard pressed to find ingredients differing from pastry to pastry, Portuguese enjoy the staple of the beaten egg and sugar - if they can shape it into any kind of dessert, you better believe it'll happen as much as possible. But every culture has its generic ingredient right? Sure. Thai has its coconut and fish sauce, but when everything generally tastes the same, the same being overtly sugary, why bother getting anything else? Except, of course, for the odd eclair. I'll say this, and I'm positive I'll say it later on, appearance should never be a substitute for a food's taste and quality, which may be why I visit hole-in-the-wall joints without any hesitation or prejudice.
