Review Highland Halal Shawarma - Kitchener

Great food at a great price. On my last visit, my family ordered the Full Flavour Shawarma and the Shawarma Plate with Rice, along with a side of fries. The portions are generously sized and we had leftovers. The meat was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. All of the fillings/toppings were fresh. The fries were a little over-cooked and dried, though on another visit they were great. Still, I would return again for another order the next time I get the urge for shawarma.

Neither VFM nor good taste! Seems like the reviews are concocted! Meat wasn’t fresh & taste was rubbery so I might not visit again.

Not good shawarma. I would not try again. Chicken was dry and rice has no flavors at all.

Gave one star so I can write a review. Been there 4 times in total , always something was off, today we bought a shawarma plate mix beef chicken , came home all the way in trussler there’s no sign of chicken in that box . Do we drive back to show them since they aren’t believing they messed up . Never again to this place again . Like I bought a plate of fried and salad basically and few random shaves of meat . Was hungry couldn’t take a picture at the time .

Currently the best shawarma in town. The garlic sauce is on another level and slaps hard. The classic chicken shawarma wrap is fantastic, but if you wanna experience the garlic sauce at it's full glory, get fries and ask them to go heavy on the garlic sauce on top.

This place has very fresh, tasty, and cheap food. Our go-to is the gyros, 2 for about $9, although we order them without hot sauce and garlic sauce (tzaziki only). Their falafels are also really good and they hold their flavour well including when we eat them cold the next day. They also have an amazing poutine with what seem like fresh cut fries, although again we order without the optional hot sauce and garlic sauce. Be forewarned that their garlic sauce is quite strongly flavoured, so it can overpower some of the other flavours (but it is tasty!). Highly recommend!

Absolutely love it. Landed in Canada in 2020, was in quarantine when a friend of mine from US ordered it online for us using uber eats. Fell in love with their gyro wraps and platter ever since.

I honestly do not understand what the hype is about... The shawarma was mediocre at best!!! I specifically asked the guy packing the food to make sure chicken is hot - still what do I get?? Cold food!! Taste was okayish... Value for money - not so much - they really skimped on the meat - Maybe I just visited on a bad day...

I found this place with my nose while coming out of the post office. I swore I would eat whatever I came across once I figured out where that absolutely delicious smell was coming from! Highland Halal is FABULOUS! The shawarma is spectacular and generous in proportion to the cost (which is SO affordable) and the gyros are amazing! The owners and all the staff are friendly, kind and a joy to speak to. Highly recommend!

My family and I consider your food our biggest treat. Truly delicious and great customer service. I have been a customer for a few years now and have to say hands down the best Sharwarma and Gyro in the KW region. If I have to pick up dinner and do not know what everyone wants, these are the cooks I head too. Anything I get from there gets devoured that night. Really a awesome restaurant.

We usually get a double order of double meat and rice plates at least once a week. My 2 year old son scarfs it down (him and I share) and he doesn't stop talking about "chicken and rice"!! The last couple times too I believe the owner has given my son a small container of French fries on the house. Just such a nice place with delicious food and wonderful owners!!!!

Literally the best shawarma I've had in Kitchener. Friendly staff and great food. Can't wait for my next visit!

The best in Kitchener and surrounding area My husband and I travel 2 hours just to eat here and our children love this place as well.

Went in during a busy time lots of orders ahead of mine but the gentleman who took my order (and I'm picky) didn't make me feel rushed listened to exactly what I wanted and I got just that incredible service and amazing food!

Place has the most flavour in their shwarma's. Highly recommended.

Great place for a quick bite. Love that it's family owned and much healthier than other "fast foods". I love everything on the menu but definitely try the falafels since they are made fresh and fried whenever you order.

Great food! Consistently well made gyros and shwarma and more, always good tasting and fresh. Good size portions reasonably priced. Very limited seating. Really just a take-out outlet but definitely well worth it!

Big fan of Shawarma... and this is the best I've ever had.

Best Falafel in Town. This little gem is tucked away in a strip mall on Highland Road in Kitchener (between Belmont St. & Patricia St.). It is a little place that you just walk in and order for take-out. They do have a small lunch counter if you do wish to eat in. You can also phone in your order for easy pick-up (519) 741-8300 .<br/><br/> They have a really authentic and hugely flavorful Falafel. For only $6 !!! It is a substantial meal in itself....<br/><br/> I would also recommend their Gyro on a Pita. Only $5. It is a twist on a regular gyro. It is the traditional gyro meat, yet it is wrapped in a pita with some middle eastern condiments mixed in. The combination is amazing. Like a gyro "galore". <br/><br/> One of my favorite things about this place, is that all of their wraps (Falafel, Gyro on a Pita, Shawarma etc .....) are put in a panini press after they are made. This adds an extra level of taste and a slightly crispy texture.<br/><br/> My only problem is whether to order a Falafel or a Gyro on a Pita. They also make a damn fine Shawarma , but I always seem to go the Falafel or Gyro on a Pita route......They are also nice people, to boot. Do yourself a favour and check it out !

Lastly, we went to Highland Halal Shawarma, on Highland Road, Kitchener. For most of us this is the original Shawarma in Kitchener and regarded as the best in town by many (including the owners that put those words on their business cards). It has changed a bit since the new owners took over. It now serves a lot more than just Schawarma and Falafel like before.
